December 12, 20232 yr What does the community have to suggest on a non working winch? The motor is not working.
December 12, 20232 yr Moderators This is no good. A non-working winch is a big bummer especially when you don't know it doesn't work until you go to use it. Below are a couple of things that be the reason for the non-working winch motor. CAUSE: Defective solenoid or stuck solenoid FIX: Jar solenoid to free contacts. Check solenoid by applying 12 volts to coil terminal (it should make an audible click when energized) CAUSE: Defective remote control switch FIX: Disengage winch clutch, remove remote control switch plug from the socket and jump pins at 8 and 4 o’clock. Motor should run. Jump pins at 8 and 10 o’clock. Motor should run. CAUSE: Defective motor FIX: If solenoids operate, check for voltage at armature post; replace motor CAUSE: Loose connections FIX: Tighten connections on bottom side of hood and on motor.
