November 4, 200916 yr Trying to find ways to give my hard drive more space (since windows is a hard drive hog). I heard that a way to free up Gigabytes (GB) worth of space is to remove the language files. Any idea how?
November 4, 200916 yr Moderators Depends on your version of Windows. Here are instructions on how to remove them from Windows Vista To remove a language pack from a Windows Vista, please follow the following steps: 1. Click Start, type language options in the Start Search box, and then click Regional and Language Options in the Programs list. Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Install/uninstall languages in the Display language area. Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 3. Click Remove languages, click to select the check boxes for the language packs that you want to remove, and then click Next. 4. Click Remove, and then click Restart now after the removal process is completed. This will take a long time since there are 17 languages installed on Windows Vista. Please just be patient to finish the procedure. Reference: Error message when you try to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2: "Windows has detected unsupported language files"
November 4, 200916 yr Moderators This is what I gather you would do on Windows 7. Click on Start button, then go to Control Panel. In Category view, click on Clock, Language, and Region link. In Icons view, click on Regional and Language icon, and then go to Keyboards and Languages tab. Click on Install or uninstall display languages under “Region and Language” section or Install/uninstall languages under “Display Language” section”. In the “Install or uninstall display languages” wizard, click on uninstall display languages.
