TROUBLESHOOT:


Run SQLDIAG on the Server to see if it is an Server vs. Connection issue.



  1. Stop and re-start the SQL Server.
  2. Click Start | Run | CMD
  3. Type SQLDIAG
  4. Press Enter.
  5. Follow any on screen commands.
  6. After the error occurs press Ctrl+C to stop SQLDIAG.
  7. Analyze the files (default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\SQLDIAG)



If you are using a packet capture tool like wireshark, you can filter for TCP/IP port 1433 which is traffic, by default, used by MS SQL Server.
