Change Grab to default to JPEG versus TIFF

When you use the Apple Mac OS X Grab Utility to capture screen shots, the default format is .tiff which is not always accepted everywhere.



A lot of questions get brought up, "How can I get Grab to default to JPEG instead of TIFF?"



Answer:


Open Terminal and copy and paste the following


defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpeg


This does require you rebooting/restarting your Mac for the defaults to become active.
