September 17, 201510 yr I first used Mac the Ripper to decrypt and extract the DVD to the VIDEO_TS folder on my hard drive. Then I used handbrake to convert the movie to an mp4 file Next I opened iTunes on my mac and clicked Add to Library and selected the .mp4 movie file Handbrake created. After iTunes finished copying the movie, I went to my iPod and selected the movie as one that I wanted to sync and I receive this error message. movie was not copied to the ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod I used handbrake three different times, the first time it was set on iPod 5th Generation, Second time I changed the format from H.246 to MPEG-4, Third time I used one of the presets that had iPod Legacy. My iPod is one of the iPod Classic 160Gb versions. The trick is once you have it copied to iTunes you have to click (to highlight) the movie in iTunes, then in the menu, click Advanced - Create iPod or iPhone version.
