September 17, 201510 yr The powerbook g4 won't recognize the DVD DL install disk for leopard. Does anyone know how I can get this installed? Going to assume it is a legal (purchased) copy of Leopard. If you are having issues with your Superdrive it may be because the Powerbook's Superdrive didn't/doesn't support Dual Layer (DL) DVD's. So I would suggest obtaining a firewire drive, then formatting it using Apple's Disk Utility (OS Extended, Journaled). From another Apple that you can read the DVD DL, create a .dmg then extract the .dmg to the firewire drive. Now plug that firewire drive into your powerbook G4 and boot off that as if it was an external DVD drive.
