March 29, 201115 yr I saw my brother in law struggle with instructions on exporting to an .m4r file and importing and deleting files and next thing you know he's missing songs and the frustration level was high. So like any other time I see someone frustrated with technology I find the right way to do it and document it here somewhere. Requirements: Mac Garageband iPhone Step One Open Garageband, if prompted, select a new project and it doesn't matter what you select (I usually select loops) and name it what you will want your ringtone named but keep it short. Step Two Open iTunes and find the song that you would like to snatch a clip from as your ringtone and drag and drop the song onto Garageband Step Three At the bottom of Garageband you'll see a player and in the player you'll find two arrows forming a circle (kinda like the recycle image), click on that and a yellow bar will appear. The yellow region is your loop. Step Four Adjust your loop by dragging the far left of the yellow bar either father out to make the loop longer or making it shorter (just don't go more than 15 seconds. If you click in the middle of the yellow bar and drag you will move the loop to the part of the song you want to snatch your loop from. Step Five Once you set the loop you want, in Garageband, click on Share --> Send Ringtone to iTunes Look over in iTunes and you'll now see that ringtone waiting for you to sync your iPhone.
