Kia has finally announced pricing for the 2027 Telluride Hybrid. The first-ever hybrid version of the three-row crossover, it arrives at an important time when hybrid sales are soaring across the industry. Available in six different variants, the Telluride Hybrid starts at $46,490, making it $7,300 more expensive than the non-hybrid version of the SUV. It’s also over $2,000 pricier than the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid, which has the same powertrain. But is the Telluride Hybrid worth it? Let’s dig into the full pricing and specs of this key model.

The Telluride Hybrid in X-Line SX-P form is now the most expensive Telluride ever, surpassing the X-Pro SXP AWD non-hybrid model, which costs $56,790.

The hybrid gets a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and electric motors that combine for 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the front or all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission, and the most efficient model can manage 35 mpg combined, with a 637-mile range. It can tow up to 4,500 lbs and a self-leveling rear suspension is available.

“The first-ever Telluride HEV really hits the sweet spot and delivers exactly what today’s savvy SUV buyers are looking for,” said Eric Watson, VP Sales, Kia America. “Brimming with Kia’s latest tech, available in seven-passenger configuration, and an EPA-estimated 35 mpg combined on the EX FWD trim, the 2027 Telluride HEV is the new benchmark in the three-row SUV segment.”

A glance at the specification sheet shows that the base Palisade Hybrid matches the Telluride Hybrid’s features. And, considering they have the same powertrain, the Hyundai is the better buy on paper.

Why The Telluride Hybrid Matters

The first-generation Telluride was the first Kia designed specifically for the U.S. market, and its success shows what a savvy move it was for the Korean marque. Three-row crossovers excel in this region, which is why the all-new Telluride is so important for Kia. But times have changed since the first-gen arrived, with hybrids increasingly finding favor. Competitors like the Palisade, Toyota Grand Highlander, and Mazda CX-90 all have hybrid options, so Kia simply had to offer an electrified alternative.

In this group, only the CX-90 Hybrid is more expensive than the Kia, but the Mazda has a more advanced plug-in hybrid system that allows for electric-only driving. By pricing the Telluride above its Hyundai and Toyota rivals, Kia appears confident that its SUV’s bold design, expansive interior, and long list of features will be enough to win over buyers.

We look forward to driving the Telluride Hybrid to see if it can justify its price premium over the brilliant Palisade Hybrid. As things stand, both vehicles look like contenders for best-in-class honors.
