Family Hauler On Steroids

SUVs no longer serve a single purpose. This type of vehicle was typically reserved for getting people around and for traversing tough terrain. Since the surge in SUV demand, brands have begun offering them as sport models as well. While it may sound surprising, we now have multiple high-performance SUVs on the market.

Audi does things a little differently: instead of offering just one full-size SUV, it offers two, the Q7 and the Q8. The former is the traditional option with conservative styling and 7 seats; the latter is a more coupe-like SUV with a sportier look. The RS Q8 is the hot version – and it has just gotten a tuning treatment from none other than ABT.

ABT RSQ8-S

ABT Tuning is one of the biggest tuners out there; in fact, it is one of the biggest firms that tinker with VW Group-branded cars. Its latest offering is the RSQ8-S performance kit, which makes the already sporty SUV even more powerful and imposing.

Starting with the design, the ABT kit for the RSQ8-S is subtle overall. You can't immediately tell that a kit has been added unless you look closely. There is a matte carbon front fascia and gloss-black ABT front-wheel-arch ventilation with an integrated RSQ8-S emblem badge. At the rear is a similar matte carbon rear spoiler, an ABT stainless steel quad-pipe exhaust.

Rounding out the whole look is the 23-inch ABT HIGH PERFORMANCE IR23RSQ8-S. There is also a Level Control system that is supposed to optimise the vehicle's stance and driving dynamics

Interior features remain unchanged, except for subtle ABT branding to highlight differences between this version and the standard RS Q8. The ABT logo can be found on the headrest, carbon shift knob, floor and trunk mats, door sill plates, and start stop button.

Sleeper SUV

Of course, performance has also tuned; the standard RS Q8 already delivers 600 hp or 640 hp (depending on variant). ABT takes it further by increasing power outputs to 740 hp with 678 lb-ft, and 760 hp with 722 lb-ft, more than enough power to kickstart a dead planet if needed.

Overall, the RSQ8-S offers both form and function. The looks, though, remain unassuming in true Audi fashion, making this a true sleeper SUV. It should appeal to those who want the practicality of an SUV, but the outright performance capability to shame or scare a supercar. If anyone wants to purchase this kit, prices start at approximately $63,000, converted.
