Wolf in Sheep's Clothing?
A lot of people are divided in their opinions about the Honda Prelude; most call it a wannabe sports car, while others praise it as a good grand tourer. Some people seem to be trying to find the limit.
Despite its apparent sporting tendencies, the Prelude truly leans more towards being a cruiser than a canyon carver. Evidence seems to be out there, as the auction world has just posted two almost brand-new Preludes for sale. Sadly, both are listed with significant damage.

Low-Milers but Damaged
The two damaged Preludes were posted on the Insurance Auto Auctions Inc. (IAAI) website. Interestingly, both cars have less than 600 miles on the odometer and are already in dire shape. As far as anybody knows, these two cars are the first wrecked Preludes since the relaunch.
The first car listing (lot#44919713) generally looks okay from most angles; the front and sides are damage-free based on the photos. It's when you look towards the rear that you notice that something is wrong. Looking at the rear right, shows that the fender has been bent in, and the tire is out of place, suggesting possible rear underchassis damage, while the rear bumper also has a massive black gash. Tragically, this car has only done 264 miles.
Next up is lot#44534805. This car is surprisingly still up for auction despite featuring much more damage than the first Prelude being listed. From the front, it seems salvageable, with the only noticeable damage being the front-left side mirror.
Once again, though, if you look at the back, the damage is significant. Unlike the first car, most of the rear is still recognizable, but here the whole trunk area has caved in, hinting at a rear-end collision of some magnitude. This car only has 575 miles on the odometer.

Unlucky?
No specific reasons have been published for what caused the accidents, whether they were self-inflicted or just accidents. One thing is for sure, though: clearly, a certain group of people is buying the Prelude despite divided opinions.
No indicative bidding prices have been set yet. However, it would be surprising to see them fetch decent coin considering the damage. Hopefully, these are isolated cases, as it would be a shame if this were a showcase of things to come.
