The Ford Expedition first appeared in 1996 and has sold over 3 million units since then, and to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, the Blue Oval has launched the 2027 Expedition 30th Anniversary Appearance Package. It's an upgrade to the Expedition's Stealth Appearance Package (which means it comes on the Platinum trim) and adds paint that was formerly exclusive to the Mustang Dark Horse, special badges inside and out, and light-colored upholstery that may be tricky to keep clean with kids in the car but looks fantastic. Let's check out the details.

The highlight of the Expedition's celebration of 30 years on the market is the shifting Blue Ember metallic tri-coat paint that was formerly only available on the Mustang Dark Horse. This is complemented by gloss black 22-inch wheels with special "Expedition 30 Years" center caps, while the tailgate gets a small "30 Years" badge on the left side. The Expedition script on the nose is gloss black (thanks to the aforementioned Stealth Appearance pack), and inside, the door sill plates again remind occupants that this is the 30th Anniversary edition. Yet another reminder appears embossed in the leather on the sliding center console. Speaking of the leather, the 2027 Ford Expedition 30th Anniversary Appearance Package adds a lighter upholstery finish than normal, now in Salt Crystal Gray.

Overall, the changes are relatively subtle, but the paint alone may be enough of a drawcard for buyers, especially if they already have a Mustang Dark Horse in the same Blue Ember finish in the garage; towing a Mustang to the track with an Expedition in the same color would be quite the flex. The only question is, how much does all this cost?

Ford has not revealed when the 2027 Expedition and its available 30th Anniversary Appearance Package will go on sale, nor has it given us any indication of what it will cost, but we can look at the current 2026 model for some clues. The Stealth Appearance Package is available on the 2026 Expedition Platinum ($74,250) for $3,575, and that comes with Ford's 400-horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with all-wheel drive. Presumably, the 2027 special edition will cost a little more, potentially exceeding $80,000. That's a lot of money, but the Platinum trim also gives you a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and PowerFold third-row seats that go flat for maximum practicality. We'll report back once Dearborn provides more info.
