Jeep’s Smallest SUV Gets A New Look And A Manual Turbo Engine

(0 reviews)

From A First To A Seller

The Jeep Avenger is an important model for the Stellantis-based brand. It was designed primarily for the European market and is the first-ever fully electric Jeep variant.

Thankfully for Jeep, the Avenger has become a best seller for them in the region, and in order to keep the streak going, a new mid-cycle refreshed Avenger is now available for purchase.

The Evolution Of Compact Freedom

Part of the updates to the Avenger was already teased by Jeep recently, when they shared a photo of their iconic seven-slot grille now featuring illumination. Jeep says that the new Avenger takes a lot of inspiration from the brand's 85 years of celebration, which they are celebrating this year. The Avenger sums up the automaker's values in the most compact model in the lineup.

Built and designed in Europe, the new Jeep Avenger is an evolution of the original model's design cues. Design to function is Jeep's aesthetic driving force, and the Avenger uses it with the inclusion of encased headlamps and “molded-in-color” skid plates, which also help avoid damage. It will also get new front and rear bumpers, as well as newly designed 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels.

Two new exterior colors have been introduced for the new Avenger, called Forest and Bamboo. These can be complemented with an optional black roof.

The interior of the new Avenger has also been revamped; it now has softer door panel materials and a lower dashboard. Additionally, the Altitude and Summit trims feature new premium cloth/vinyl upholstery, while the 4xe variant now offers new, washable, highly durable green interiors. Lastly, the Selec-Terrain function is now framed in red rubber, making it easier to identify and use on the fly.

85th Anniversary and Turbo 100

Distinguishing the 85th anniversary from the rest of the range is easy; it'll feature special 85th-anniversary badges on the exterior and interior. It'll also come with a tartan-patterned hood and interior that Jeep says symbolizes freedom and adventure.

The biggest change for the new Avenger is a new powertrain. Jeep is introducing the Turbo 100 engine, a 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that puts out 101 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. It'll be paired with just a 6-speed manual transmission. Jeep says the new Turbo 100 engine improves fuel efficiency through a high‑pressure (350 bar) direct-injection system, new piston heads, and a new valve-timing system that reduces internal friction. Reliability has also been improved by using a timing chain rather than a belt.
