Motul Oil Engineer Explains Oil Testing | Free Motul Racing Lab Service at Motul Petit Le Mans

(0 reviews)

We’re big fans of oil testing around here, and often share videos from our favorite oil expert, the Motor Oil Geek himself, Lake Speed Jr. He’s a big fan of oil testing as well, and uses that data to help educate us on oil, lubrication, and long engine life. The guys at Motul also test their oils after being subjected to race conditions, but they are now doing it LIVE and in person at select events! Check it out.

Video Description:

A few milliliters of oil can reveal everything about an engine’s health. Motul’s 300V lubricants power teams across the WeatherTech Championship and the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge—but this year, they brought something new for fans: the Motul Mobile Racing Lab.

In this video, we step inside the field lab with Motul’s technical team to see how their 10-minute oil analysis works and why it’s such a powerful tool for both race engineers and everyday fans. From viscosity checks to wear-metal detection, we break down how real-time data helps teams prevent failures—and how anyone at the track can get the same pro-level insight on their own car.

Watch the process, see a full report generated on the spot, and learn why oil analysis is becoming essential across the IMSA paddock.
