A Unicorn Goes to Auction The Nissan Skyline GT-R R32, R33, and R34 are undeniably some of the most iconic models from the Japanese marque, but the Nismo 400R may be the most coveted of them all – arguably matching the R34 Z-Tune in collector appeal, which itself is rumored to have sold for nearly $2 million. One of the 44 400R examples is currently listed through Broad Arrow Auctions and is expected to fetch seven figures, with estimates reaching as high as $1.1 million. Based on the R33 platfo

If there’s one car most Audi fans would like to bring back from the dead, it’s the iconic R8. The supercar went out of production after the 2023 model year, leaving a gaping hole in the brand’s lineup that can’t be filled by any other expensive Audi. Fortunately, there’s always the used market to turn to if you want to get your hands on one of this century’s best supercars. A particularly special example of the R8 has popped up for sale, and with four days to go before the auction ends, the high

The request was simple enough: I needed a distributor ignition pickup for a small-block, Duraspark-era Ford. For you counter folks, that would be a Dorman F107. Should be a non-event: just go to the store, either buy the part or place the order and buy the part when it shows up. It shouldn’t warrant writing a story about at all, right? You must be new here. Welcome. Enjoy your stay and be sure to look around a bit. After working with the green-and-white guys and getting nowhere fast, I placed

The fourth-generation Toyota Supra needs no introduction. Quicker and more advanced the current one may be, but the fourth-gen Supra is a JDM legend and one of Toyota’s most revered sports cars. Neat examples of the Mk4 Supra sell for serious money these days, and a unicorn 1998 example just sold for a staggering $242,000 this past weekend at the Mecum Kissimmee auction. This is close to the record for a stock, road-legal Mk4 Supra, so let’s take a look at why this example is so special. Unmodif

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has raised concerns about the prevalence of performance-focused car advertisements, given the high number of fatalities linked to speeding and aggressive driving. A new study run by the safety authority looked at car ads airing between 2018 and 2022 and found that 43% of them focused on vehicle speed, maneuverability, traction, stopping, or power. Researchers also found that speed was promoted over twice as often as safety, highlighting a lack of

The Rotsun is, well, rotten. Hence the name. But how much rust is too much? Is this thing structurally okay, is it a total loss, or does it just need a little love. I once drove from Dallas, TX to Buffalo, NY to buy a 1967 Camaro Stock Eliminator car only to find that the floor pans and trunk pan were as much fiberglass as steel. Unfortunately for me it was a long drive to find out that this otherwise wonderful car was not safe or good for me. Because the roll bar was bolted to floors that weren

Automakers have made some big improvements in EV range over the last several years, even while dropping prices, with a number of $30,000 models coming to market in the next few years. But there’s another big hurdle the industry needs to overcome before many potential buyers will be ready to plug in. Kia And that’s where a start-up called Ionna hopes to shake things up. Based in Du

No To Chinese, Says NADA The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) is the latest major industry body to advocate for keeping Chinese automakers out of the U.S. market. According to a report from Automotive News, NADA leadership has expressed strong support for policies designed to prevent Chinese OEMs from entering the country. The group’s position centers on concerns over unfair competitive practices, state-backed industrial advantages, and potential national security risks tied to con

It’s time for the Drag Illustrated Winter Series in Florida to continue! The US Street Nationals are on this weekend, and while the rest of the easter half of the country will be freezing, the weather is going to be lovely in central Florida at Bradenton Motorsports Park. A Long-Awaited Debut for Magma The Genesis GV60 Magma has been in the spotlight for good reason. It’s not just another trim level. This is the first real production car from Genesis’ Magma performance division, and since the concept debuted, people have been waiting to see whether the production version would deliver. Genesis took its time entering the performance EV market. It has been refining the E-GMP platform across different models before finally going all-in. The GV60 Magma is that shift.

We’ve shared plenty of Kevin Tetz videos over the years around here, and I can tell you that Kevin sure knows what he’s talking about. The number of TV and YouTube personalities that have learned how to paint, or how to paint better, from him is pretty impressive. And that doesn’t even count the millions of hot rodders at home who have watched him over the years. So when Kevin puts out a video and says that this three step process will help you create a paint job that is as smooth as glass, you

If you've used an OBDII device to make your car or truck more powerful by circumventing its emissions devices, you may soon be in big trouble. The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has subpoenaed Apple and Google, ordering them to provide information on at least 100,000 users of the EZ Lynk Auto Agent app, reports Forbes. While this is intended as a means of ensuring there are consequences for those who break the law, albeit now only a civil violation rather than a criminal one, the DOJ'

The "Wrong" Oil A class action lawsuit was served to Valvoline after its Instant Oil Change facility filled a 2025 Kia Sorento with oil that did not meet the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. According to the suit, the vehicle manufacturer's oil specification for the Sorento is 0W-30. Despite that, the Valvoline Instant Oil Change Facility used 5W-30 for the service. The Indiana plaintiff, Robert Campbell, claims that because Valvoline used a different grade of oil during his service, this

Group C race cars are some of the coolest road racing machines, so when I saw this video pop up of the Sauber Mercedes C11 that Michael Schumacher used to drive, I had to watch. When I then saw that there was also onboard video from Spa in the rain, I knew I had to check that one out too. You’ll dig this in car footage that’s for sure, so check out both videos below. Video Description: Racing the Ex Michael Schumacher Sauber-Mercedes C11 against other Group-C Legends. Full WET Lap: • Onbo

A couple of weeks ago we shared the video of Derek picking up this machine and getting it ready to drive 850 miles home. Seemed like a pretty stout trip in an unknown RV, but that was nothing when compared to the 3,000 miles planned for this trip here. I mean this is 7 states of fun, which means this bad boy needs to be ready to drive, camp, cook, and more. Will this vintage big block powered RV make it around the country? I don’t see why not! Many just like it drove millions of combined miles

This thing is cool! Well it looks cool anyway, even though I’m not a big fan of the 6.2 liter diesel under the hood. And before all you 6.2 and 6.5 fans start bitching, know that I grew up with a 6.2 liter diesel swapped squarebody Suburban, and I own another 6.2l powered squarebody Suburban right now. Can they be reliable? Sure. Do they make big power? No. Do they get great mileage? Not really. Can you count on them actually staying reliable? Ehh, that kind of depends on how they have been trea

This rollback has had an interesting life, and after a fire and some other drama, this one has got a new to it engine and transmission. The fire wasn’t on this truck. The fire was on the truck that donated the engine and trans. And to make matters even better, Derek traded the labor to do the swap on this thing for the old engine and trans that was in it. There is a whole story behind it, and we’ll let Derek tell you all about it. Check it out. Video Description: This Chevrolet squarebody has

Just because the parts are available doesn’t mean that doing an interior restoration on your favorite project is going to be cheap. With lots of options, from “custom” bolt in replacement options to factory replacements, there are a jillion price points to navigate when getting parts for your ride. And then there is the labor. Regardless of how cheap the parts are, paying someone to rehab your interior will cost a pretty penny. But what if you do it yourself? Can you save real money and actually

My dad worked for Cadillac for years when I was a kid growing up, and he grew up in a Cadillac family. We’ve had Cadillacs in the family since the 50’s, so I do have a special place in my heart for them. And the Allanté was one of those Cadillacs that, while not very successful, helped shape the future to become the Cadillac that we know and love today. The Allanté paved the way for the XLR which paved the way for the CTS-V and that paved the way for the entire V series and Blackwings. It’s an e

We’ve featured several Ironworks Speed and Kustom built cars here at BANGshift over the last couple of years, and with good reason. Roger and the crew at Ironworks Speed and Kustom have been building cars in Bakersfield California for decades, and we’ve seen all kinds of rides roll out of this place over the years. Street rods, hot rods, muscle cars, classics, and even some VWs. They’ve done their fair share of trucks as well, with almost everything done in house. Roger is pretty particular on
