Horse Powertrain’s Latest Push for Hybrid Efficiency Horse Powertrain isn’t a household name yet, but it’s quickly becoming one of the more intriguing brands in the hybrid and combustion world. With backing from Renault Group, Geely, and Aramco, the company’s approach is simple: help automakers achieve greater efficiency from existing electrified powertrains without forcing a complete redesign. Its latest development continues that approach – a new “Amorphous Motor,” a dedicated hybrid transmiss

Stellantis’ Detour to Electrification Earlier this year, Stellantis quietly dropped several plug-in hybrids from its North American lineup, including Jeep’s 4xe models and the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in. The decision surprised some, but Stellantis called it a strategic shift. Rather than sticking with plug-in hybrids, the company plans to bring back a mix of self-charging hybrids and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) instead. The first sign of that new direction is the all-new Jeep Cheroke

The Door Handle Dilemma Automakers cannot seem to leave simple mechanisms alone, often turning them into more complicated systems in the name of innovation, or whatever one chooses to call it. The 2026 Jeep Cherokee is a case in point, with its electronic door “handles,” which could pose safety risks if the vehicle's battery dies. According to Carscoops, however, Stellantis is on top of things and has laid out backup measures in case such an unfortunate situation occurs. Jeep interior design chi

I have to say that I have only had a couple of jump packs ever, but the one I have now does work pretty good. I haven’t put it through anything ultra tough, but when I’ve needed it to get my junk to run when the battery was down, it worked. Mine is from TopDon and I have had it for over a year and it works great. But most of these jump packs make wild claims as to power, so lets see how they actually stack up against each other and their own factory claims. Video Description: What kind of adva

Chad Ehrlich is back at it with more awesome finds and more awesome parts. His collector car wrecking yard is one of the finest in the country, and we’ve been there several times and taken home multiple parts and cars. This place is great and Chad is always on the lookout for more cars and parts to stock the yard. The V-8 Auto equipped Ford in the video below is one of his farm finds and we dig it. This 1954 Ford Customline is nearly complete and is the kind of ride that someone could turn into

I lived through the original Dare to be Different craze, when guys like Troy Trepanier brought out crazy builds that were based on body styles and models that nobody was normally paying attention to. Troy’s Bumongous was one of the more famous builds that kicked off the movement, but there were plenty of Nash, Studebaker, Buick, Olds, Mopar, and Pontiac builds that turned heads not only because they were awesome builds, but also because they were weird cars that weren’t the norm. This cool 1939

A Familiar Name, Now Playing a Bigger Game The Kia Seltos is a pretty important part of Kia’s US lineup. It’s one of the brand’s volume drivers, helping push record sales early this year. But until now, it’s also been one of the holdouts still relying purely on internal combustion. Adam Lynton/Autoblog That changes with the second-generation Seltos, which just debuted in N

Kia America achieved record sales in the United States in February, with 66,005 vehicles sold, a 4% increase over February 2025. The Korean marque also achieved its best-ever February for hybrid sales, while the all-new Telluride (launched as a 2027 model) is off to a strong start—February was the first month of nationwide availability for the second-generation Telluri

The Grand Reveal at the Crash Testing Center Crash testing isn't glamorous, but the Chery-Jaguar-Land Rover partnership has had the unfortunate pleasure of unofficially unveiling its newest product at a crash testing facility in China. The venue that set the stage for the car's development ultimately became its background for the world to see it there for the first time. Spy shots would have been more glamorous than this one because at least the car is in one piece. There was some effort to hid

An American Past Time The U.S. is a place where sports are a big deal, a country where most of the world's sports are supported and even played. You could say that even motorsports has a big home in America, and NASCAR is part of the very fabric of the nation, as one of the biggest spectator sports locally and internationally. Motorsports takes many forms in the U.S. Apart from NASCAR, we have IndyCar, dirt-track racing, and drag racing. However, some people find that racing is a disruption and

Bad welds happen more often than you might think, and such a defect can often result in safety issues. Similar to the issue that plagued the Toyota Sienna last year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has published a new recall for the 2025 and 2026 Lucid Gravity SUV after it was discovered that bad welds could compromise safety in the second row, potentially causing the lap belts to detach. Clearly, this is a serious issue, unlike the first Gravity recall, which appeared in Dece

Volvo and Geely’s Lovechild Launching Another SUV When Geely and Volvo teamed up in 2016 to launch Lynk & Co, it looked like another ambitious Chinese startup with a bit of Scandinavian influence. But after a few years, the brand has quietly become much more than that. We’ve spent time behind the wheel of a few Lynk & Co hybrids and EVs before, and the products are more than just decent. Some models actually feel more sorted than what you get from established brands. Unsurprisingly, ther

Supercars are becoming more and more dangerous, and the demographic of those who can afford to buy and drive them is getting younger and younger, creating inherent risks for road users. But McLaren is doing something about it, with a new patent submitted with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, first noticed by CarBuzz. The patent suggests locking a "race driving mode" behind a wall until the car's GPS detects that the vehicle is in a safe environment, i.e., a racetrack. Simply put, t

The Land of Enchantment isn’t exactly enchanting drivers lately. While New Mexico often enjoys some of the lower fuel costs in the western mountains region, a mix of refinery maintenance and legislative drama surrounding the Clear Horizons Act has prevented prices from dipping as much as many expected. Despite a slight week-over-week drop, the looming shift to more expensive summer-blend gasoline is already casting a shadow over New Mexico. Geopolitical tensions and price peaks in some areas of

The New Pajero News of the new Mitsubishi Pajero is running rampant. It is one of the names that put Mitsubishi on the map, and it's been nearly a decade since we last saw a new Pajero. We're happy to report that we're surely getting a new model soon. Coverage isn't sparse either. Other reports state that Mitsubishi is benchmarking against rivals in the segment, while others still say the Pajero will come in three variants, and what's more, we know it's coming in late 2026.

Hyundai’s N division has gone from left-field upstart to serious hot-hatch and sport compact rival, and now the aftermarket is catching up. UK-based Milltek Sport has launched a full range of performance exhausts for Hyundai’s core N models, with systems for the i20 N, i30 N, Kona N, Elantra N and Veloster N. The line covers road-legal and track-only setups, all developed in-house and at the Nürburgring, and is aimed squarely at owners who want more sound and sharper response without turning t

In the center of the Mojave Desert lies Baker, California, with little else to offer other than sunshine, which, as it happens, was all PowerStation Charging needed. This startup's first DC fast charging station is off-grid, with 1080 solar panels producing enough energy to push electricity into a 3.4 MWh battery pack that keeps four CCS fast chargers running around the clock, rain or shine. There’s no membership or app required to use the station and no bill either, until May 31st, 2026. There

More Power! It started with Teslas putting supercars to shame. Now, it's a whole industry-wide push to see whose grocery getter can make the quickest school run. Everything from electric off-roaders to BYD's latest flagship SUV already breaks the 600-plus-horsepower mark. So how does Porsche respond to that with their top-of-the-line flagship SUV? Well, it pushes four digits and sticks it to the other Chinese brands at Auto China 2026 in Beijing. At 1,140 horsepower, the new Porsche Cayenne Cou

Financial Reality Behind Electrification Producing a broad electrified lineup to meet various market demands isn’t as simple as it sounds; factors like development costs come into play, with BMW even allocating resources to retool its century-old German factory to support electric vehicle production. Where there is a problem, though, companies will try to find a solution, and Horse Powertrain says its new “all-in-one” powertrain is designed to help automakers streamline that process. Horse Power

The tire industry has advanced a lot technologically since the pneumatic rubber tire was invented in the late 19th century, even though the basic concept of an air-filled tire has remained vastly the same. Key advancements along the way include tubeless technology that replaced the inner tube, radial construction that replaced old bias-ply tires, synthetic rubber and compounding that reduced reliance on natural rubber, run-flat tires, and airless tires, to name only the most important developmen

Touchscreen Concerns A detailed study presented at the 38th Annual ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology is now offering compelling evidence for something that most of us already know — that trying to interact with a touchscreen while driving is extremely distracting and can be downright dangerous. With physical buttons and knobs having been all but replaced by large, flat screens that lack any tactile features, researchers from the University of Washington and the Toyota Rese

Is it Really Happening? The return of the WRX STI has been a case of "will they or won't they?" for the longest time. The current WRX was shown to the world in mid-2021, and at the time, Subaru said it wouldn't be making an STI version of the car. A report from Road and Track back in 2022 mentioned that the hotter WRX won't be happening due to constant regulation changes. Heck, there was even a statement from the company that said "a next generation internal combustion engine WRX STI will not be
