True Innovation

When it comes to speed, we're at the apex of technology. Mankin's interest in breaking speed records and finding every possible way to be the fastest has driven us forward. We've reached a point in time where 1,000 hp is as normal as having doors on your car.

What is sometimes shocking and awe-inspiring is how unique and out-of-the-box certain brands are when it comes to achieving high speeds. One such brand took the motoring world by storm on one of the biggest stages of motorsport. We're talking about McMurtry and its Spéirling, which broke records and gained fans during its record-breaking runs at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

McMurty Opens Production Facility

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, McMurtry is starting to plan the commencement of the production of the Spéirling PURE. The company's new, state-of-the-art facility in Wotton-under-Edge, England, has just opened. This expansion, alongside McMurtry’s
existing HQ, will provide the required facilities for production while also enabling McMurtry
Automotive plans to expand its model range in future years.

What makes the Speirling unique is its unorthodox approach. Firstly, it is a single-seater hypercar powered by an electric motor that generates 1,000 hp. It has a 0-60 mph time of just 1.38 seconds. The Spéirling PURE is a track-only model with a 60 kWh battery that can charge in just 20 mins, ideal for maximising track days.

In addition to being a single-seater, the Spéirling generates 4,400 lbs of downforce using two rear-facing fans that spin up to 23,000 rpm. The system was so effective that McMurtry even showcased the Spéirling running upside down on a custom metal-plate rig. The only main downside is that the fans are so noisy, easily breaching 100 decibels.

In terms of accolades, the McMurtry Spéirling holds the fastest ever lap recorded on the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb, clocking in a blistering 39.08 seconds. It was set in 2022 and has stood till this day. Other claim to fame moments are when, in 2024, it was the fastest ever car around the Top Gear test track, beating out the Ferrari SF-90.

Technology For All

Prices for the McMurtry Speirling PURE start at $1,360,000 (converted) or £995,000 before taxes. The first customer car is expected to be delivered by the summer of 2026. In addition to producing the Speirling PURE, McMurtry announced that it is establishing a Technology arm at the original Swinhay House estate.

McMurtry Technology will be responsible for bringing to market and offering internally patented processes, technology, and expertise to other OEM brands. Mainly, it will offer engineering services across five areas of specialisation: Downforce on Demand, Performance Battery Technology, Electric Powertrains, Vehicle Lightweighting, and Vehicle Software.
