John Jackson is back at it, this time in our home state of Texas as he visits the Rio Grande Valley for the Rio Heat Show. And not only did he capture awesome cars and custom trucks, but also made a visit at a couple of really good BBQ spots. Check it out if you like cars and smoked meat!

Join us for an epic weekend in the Rio Grande Valley! We headed down to the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Showgrounds in Mercedes, Texas, for the high-energy Rio Heat Car & Truck Show. After missing the Estos Vatos Car Club show in Laredo back in April, we knew we had to make the trip to catch up with the crew and see some of the cleanest builds in South Texas.
From slammed trucks to classic lowriders, the RGV scene did not disappoint!
Beyond the Car Show: Boots & BBQ
We made the most of our time in Mercedes by diving deep into Texas culture: Rios of Mercedes Handmade Boots: We got an exclusive look at the legendary craftsmanship of Rios of Mercedes. They’ve been hand-making premium boots since 1853, and seeing their process in person was a masterclass in Texas heritage.
The Ultimate BBQ Run:
You can’t visit the RGV without hitting the Texas Monthly Top 50 list. We stopped at both Teddy’s Barbecue and GW’s BBQ.
If you’re a fan of authentic Texas brisket and ribs, these two are absolute must-visits.
