The First Tuned C8 ZR1 Just Proved How Much More Power Is on the Table

Already Rockin' in Stock Form

The world’s first tuned Chevrolet C8 Corvette ZR1 has officially hit the dyno, and the results are already eye-opening. In a development video published by Burger Motorsports, the company behind the JB4PRO and JB4 tuning modules, the twin-turbo Corvette delivered over 1,000 wheel horsepower in completely stock form on 93-octane pump gas. Baseline runs showed approximately 1,010 wheel horsepower and 815 lb-ft of torque, confirming just how aggressive the factory calibration is on Chevrolet’s most powerful production Corvette to date.

The testing also highlighted how carefully the ZR1 has been engineered by General Motors. Peak boost reached roughly 20 psi at low rpm before tapering to about 17 psi up top, with stable air-fuel ratios and turbo shaft speeds hovering around 120,000 rpm.

The Beast Has More to Give

Even before tuning, the data suggested there was limited, but usable, headroom for additional power if approached with detailed sensor monitoring and conservative boost control. Suddenly, the Ford Mustang GTD because even more insecure.

Burger Motorsports used its JB4PRO system for development, selected for its ability to intercept and analyze up to 40 sensor inputs, including digital MAF signals, turbo shaft speed, and both high- and low-pressure fuel data. Installation proved challenging due to the Corvette’s mid-engine layout, but once wired, the system provided the level of data access needed to safely adjust boost and fueling on the seemingly underestimated LT7 twin-turbo engine.

With JB4PRO Map 1 on 93-octane pump gas, output increased to 1,048 wheel horsepower and 896 lb-ft of torque, nearly a 50-horsepower gain with no hardware changes. Switching to an E30 blend and Map 2 pushed output past 1,060 wheel horsepower and 943 lb-ft, while mid-range gains exceeded 150 wheel horsepower. Burger Motorsports emphasized that these gains came from controlled adjustments, not aggressive peak-boost spikes.

How Much More Can It Go?

The highest numbers came with JB4PRO Map 3 running on 100-octane race fuel. Under those conditions, the C8 ZR1 produced approximately 1,170 wheel horsepower and 980 lb-ft of torque. While peak output increased by about 100 wheel horsepower over stock, the most significant improvement occurred in the mid-range, where the tuned setup showed more than 220 additional wheel horsepower at 6,000 rpm.

According to Burger Motorsports, multiple JB4PRO maps will be offered to support different fuel types, ranging from conservative 91-octane setups to race-gas configurations. Early testing confirms that the C8 ZR1 is not only historically powerful out of the box, but also capable of safely delivering supercar-level gains with minimal tuning, setting the stage for far more extreme builds to follow.
