When Two Axles Aren’t Enough

The Ford Bronco already checks most boxes for buyers looking for a capable SUV. It has the right mix of tough looks and real off-road gear. For most, that’s plenty. But there’s always a group that wants to push things further.

Enter SoFlo Customs – a Florida-based outfitter with a reputation for bold builds. Introduced in 2022, one of its projects stretched the Bronco and added a third axle, turning the SUV into a short-bed pickup. The result is the Apocalypse Dark Horse, a Bronco 6x6 that’s less about practicality and more about standing out. It’s not for everyone, but that’s the idea.

Extra Axle, Extra Presence

Under the hood, the Dark Horse uses Ford’s 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, tuned here for a claimed 400 horsepower. Power goes to all six wheels through an automatic transmission, so the extra axle isn’t just for show. According to its initial release, the extra axle required extending the frame, quarter panels, and wheel arches. The company also fitted the SUV with a custom-made hard top, while leaving the rear end uncovered for the bed.

The exterior sticks to the apocalypse theme, finished in a tough black coating that’s as much about protection as it is about looks. Up front, there’s a Gobi bumper with built-in LED spotlights, plus KC lights above the windshield for better visibility on the trail. Custom fender liners, steel side steps, and a full-size spare show it’s built for more than just showrooms. The Lawman hood sharpens the profile, and the color-changing Halo headlights add a bit of tech gimmick to the mix.

It’s Currently Up For Sale

Inside, the Bronco gets a weatherproof tan finish that’s more about standing up to the elements than luxury. Most of the tech is focused on customization, especially the lighting controls. This one has just over 6,400 miles and a GVWR that technically qualifies it for IRS Section 179 tax deductions, so it counts as a commercial vehicle on paper.

SoFlo Customs offers nationwide and worldwide shipping, virtual financing, and even cryptocurrency payments, making the buying process as unconventional as the truck itself. And rightfully so – this Bronco 6x6 truck is currently for sale and priced at $150,000. And, if you want the pipe doors seen in the photos here, they are not included in the mentioned price.
