Vintage Camaro Spoiler Debate: Which Second Gen Camaro Spoiler Is The Right One For You And For The Garbage Camaro?

(0 reviews)

Growing up in a Camaro family with two first gen Camaros, a 1968 and 1969 respectively, means I’ve got some opinions on stuff you should and shouldn’t do to a Camaro. For example, is a front bumper on a ’67 or ’68 okay to remove? I hate the look, but many people dig it. One factory part that has become fair game regardless of what year your first gen is, has to be the Cowl Induction hood. They fit on a ’67, ’68, and ’69 even if they only came factory on a ’69. In the 2nd gen world the rear spoiler is one of those parts.

In 1970, or ’70 1/2 as many refer to it, the new body style Camaro came with a short one piece spoiler that bolted to the trunk lid and overlapped the rear quarters much like those on a first gen. Part way through the 1971 model year Chevrolet changed the Camaro spoiler to a 3 piece design that is much larger. I prefer the small one. Many people like the larger one. It has become one of the great debates of 2nd Gen Camaro builds.

Which do you prefer?

Watch the video below to see them both and listen to Kevin Tetz debate which one will go on the Garbage Camaro project.

Go to the website https://paintucationu.com/ and take advantage of the 50% off Black Friday sale! BLACK50 discount codeworks through cyber monday and save 50% off Paintucation Streaming classes!! ALSO… I kinda forgot about the rear spoiler on this car… I love the three piece one, but I’ve grown fond of the more subtle low spoiler, so I’m installing that one… and I show how to make a template and locate it… and show you why I think it’s the better choice! We also test fit the @precisionstainlessfab Fuel tank and weld in the ‪@detroitspeed‬ custom access door for pump maintenance… it made me a little nervous cutting a big hole in the new ‪@autometaldirect‬ trunk floor, but it had to happen!!! We’re several steps closer to the finish line and body & paint stages of this build and I love how it’s coming together!!! Huge shout out to Rodney at ‪@SuspensionGeek‬ for sharing his help and guidance!!!
