HCR Racing has unveiled a new Mid-Travel Suspension Kit for the all-new Can-Am Defender HD11, giving owners a serious upgrade in suspension performance, stability, and trail capability while maintaining the Defender’s utility-focused DNA. Designed for riders who want to push the Defender harder in rough terrain, the kit delivers a wider stance, increased capability, and a more aggressive appearance without compromising reliability or everyday usability.
The timing of the release is significant because the 2026 Can-Am Defender HD11 itself is an all-new platform. Can-Am completely redesigned the Defender for 2026 with a new chassis, updated suspension geometry, refined interior, quieter cab, and a more capable HD11 powerplant producing 95 horsepower and 70 lb-ft of torque. The new-generation Defender was engineered to better blend work and recreation, making it an ideal platform for aftermarket suspension upgrades and larger tire packages.
HCR’s Mid-Travel kit builds on that new foundation by widening the Defender HD11 approximately 8 inches overall, dramatically improving stability on rocky trails, desert terrain, and off-camber obstacles. The wider footprint helps the Defender feel more planted at speed while increasing driver confidence in technical terrain. The kit also clears up to 35-inch tires, giving the machine significantly more ground clearance and a much more aggressive stance.
Unlike traditional long-travel systems that rely on shock brackets or longer shocks, HCR’s Mid-Travel design retains factory shock geometry and factory-length shocks. According to HCR, this allows the suspension to increase width and capability while keeping axle angles closer to stock for improved reliability and reduced stress on drivetrain components.
The kit features high-clearance front and rear A-arms built from HCR’s proprietary alloy that the company says is 30% stronger than chromoly steel. Premium billet aluminum tie rods and upgraded Rhino 2.0 axles are also included to handle the increased width and tougher terrain demands. HCR says the system is a 100% bolt-on installation with no cutting or drilling required.
For owners looking to maximize the performance of the HCR Mid-Travel setup, Suspension Direct Inc. (SDi) recently introduced its Terrain Master 2.1 shocks specifically for the new Defender HD11 platform. The shocks are designed as a direct bolt-on upgrade and feature billet aluminum construction, piggyback reservoirs, large-bore compression adjusters, hardened chrome-coated shafts, and fully rebuildable internals. SDi says the Terrain Master 2.1 shocks improve small bump compliance, bottoming resistance, and overall ride stability in rough terrain.
The SDi Terrain Master 2.1 shocks pair particularly well with HCR’s Mid-Travel suspension because the HCR system is engineered to retain factory shock lengths and mounting locations. That allows owners to install premium aftermarket shocks without requiring major chassis modifications or custom shock geometry. HCR even noted on social media that the HD11 Mid-Travel kit can be run with stock shocks, SDi Terrain Master shocks, or SDi Active E-CLIK Pro electronic suspension systems depending on the owner’s intended use and performance goals.
Together, the HCR Mid-Travel suspension and SDi Terrain Master 2.1 shocks transform the new Defender HD11 into a far more capable trail and adventure machine while still retaining the utility, towing capability, and comfort that Defender owners rely on. Whether tackling rocky climbs, desert washouts, overland routes, or long backcountry adventures, the upgraded setup gives the Defender significantly more confidence and capability in demanding terrain.
