The 2026 NORRA Mexican 1000 is known for breaking machines, pushing racers beyond their limits, and exposing every weakness a vehicle can have. Endless rocks, deep sand, high-speed desert washes, and punishing heat have humbled some of the most experienced racers in off-road history.
For Chupacabra Off-Road’s first-ever NORRA 1000 campaign, the mission was simple: survive Baja, finish strong, and experience one of the most legendary off-road races in the world.
What unfolded was something far bigger.
Piloting their newly built Polaris RZR Pro R, the Chupacabra Off-Road team tackled over 1,100 brutal Baja miles; they experienced just one minor tire issue — a single flat tire late in the race near San Ignacio. Outside of that isolated incident, the OBOR 35x10R15 Tricera tires delivered flawless performance across the punishing terrain of the 2026 NORRA 1000.
No sidewall failures.
No major punctures.
No race-ending tire problems.
For a first-time NORRA effort, the Chupacabra Off-Road team proved both driver skill and tire durability under some of the harshest off-road racing conditions in the world.
“We had one flat during the entire event, but beyond that the tires were incredible,” said the team. “The Tricera’s gave us confidence every day to keep pushing through Baja.”
The NORRA 1000 is unlike traditional desert racing. Competitors battle through every type of terrain imaginable — from sharp volcanic rock sections and technical mountain passes to endless high-speed desert roads where temperatures and fatigue punish both drivers and equipment.
While many teams faced setbacks throughout the week, the Tricera-equipped Pro R continued charging forward day after day.
The result?

• 8th Fastest UTV out of 67 competitors
• 40th Overall Finish
• Over 1,100 miles completed on a single set of OBOR Tricera tires
What stood out most to the team was the tire’s versatility across Baja’s constantly changing terrain.
“Some sections felt like a video game,” the team explained. “One moment you’re battling high-horsepower pre-runners in wide-open desert, and the next you’re crawling through technical rock sections where precision matters most. The Tricera’s handled all of it without hesitation.”
