The Ground Shakes Again: 68th Good Vibrations March Meet Ignites Famoso
For nearly seven decades, the March Meet has been one of drag racing’s most sacred traditions. This weekend, the thunder returned once again as the 68th Good Vibrations Motorsports March Meet roared to life at historic Famoso Dragstrip. Under beautiful weather and ideal racing conditions, fans packed the historic quarter-mile to witness the latest chapter in one of nostalgia drag racing’s most iconic events. From the first launch of the day, the unmistakable sound and fury of high-horsepower machines echoed across the Bakersfield strip as racers went to work setting the stage for Sunday’s nitro eliminations. The March Meet has long been more than just another race. It’s a celebration of drag racing’s roots — where legendary machinery, veteran drivers, and diehard fans gather every spring at Famoso to relive the sport’s golden era while writing new history at the same time. Saturday’s action saw racers across the sportsman categories battle the famous Famoso surface in all-out eliminations, with drivers pushing hard through the rounds as they chased one of the most coveted trophies in nostalgia drag racing. With the stands full and the atmosphere buzzing throughout the facility, the energy around the track served as another reminder of why the March Meet continues to stand as one of the sport’s premier nostalgia events. But the biggest battles are still ahead. Nitro eliminations begin Sunday at 9 a.m., when drivers return to the famed Famoso quarter-mile chasing March Meet glory and the chance to add their names to one of drag racing’s most historic winner’s lists. Seized Engine, No Brakes, Sitting for 30+ Years! Will this Hot Rodded 1961 Corvette drive again? | Driveway Finds
After more than 30 years of sitting, this 1961 Corvette is getting some love! While it hasn’t been stored in the worst conditions, it has still been sitting mostly outside, and that is tough on stuff. But it’s a small block Chevrolet powered, all mechanical machine, so can simple steps make it a runner? Will it drive again? We’ve seen so many cars made to run after sitting for decades, but not all of them are easy. In fact, just because you get them running doesn’t mean they will run for long or run right. But I am sure they will do everything they can to breath new life into this epic machine. I mean it’s one thing to try to get some old pickup running, but a 1961 Corvette is something truly special. A hot rodded 1961 Corvette is even cooler. Check it out. Let’s see what happens. Video Description: A C1 Corvette is an iconic sports car, and this 1961 owned by Julian is no exception. However, due to over 30 years of neglect and sitting in various stages of disassembly it might be the roughest corvette we’ve ever worked on. The silhouette of an icon is still there, but can we get it on the road again and back to some of its former glory. The post Seized Engine, No Brakes, Sitting for 30+ Years! Nose Job: Scott’s Daily Driver 1976 El Camino gets a Laguna Front End, Plus A Bunch of Fixes To Make it Nicer To Drive
We’ve been slacking on our Rebeldryver’s Garage video sharing lately and have got a few to show you so we can get caught up. I don’t know how we missed a couple of these, but we’re here now! In this video below, Scott is taking his 1976 El Camino project and giving it some love and sex appeal. Okay, maybe not sex appeal but it is going to get a nose job that even a Kardashian would be proud of. If you aren’t familiear with the Laguna front ends that were available on 1975 and 1976 Chevelles, these things are sloped and slick and absolutely NASCAR team approved. But they also just look cool. So when Scott found a complete Laguna nose, in the same color and close patina to his 1976 El Camino daily driver project, he knew he had to get it. Here’s the video. Check it out and let us know if you like the new nose or the old one better. We dig it! IF YOU’VE MISSED ANY OF THE PREVIOUS VIDEOS ON SCOTT’S EL CAMINO, CLICK HERE Video Description: My 1976 Chevy El Camino Classic has become my daily driver over the last year. While it has been super reliable, there are some annoying things that prevent it from being an enjoyable car to drive. The dash rattles, the sun visors and rear view mirror flop around, the speedometer doesn’t work, and the temperature control cable is broke. In this video I fix all of that, plus I replace the broken, redneck repair tail lights and finally give the El Camino a face lift. I replaced the nose section with one from a Laguna S3. A big thanks to Chris from No Nonsense Know How channel that sold me a lot of the parts to make these repairs. Check out his channel! Ever Seen A DECKED Pickup Bed Organization System? Watch Rae Ripple Install One In Her Shop Truck Right Here!
Whoever came up with these DECKED organization systems is pretty smart. While drawer style organizers have been around for trucks and suvs, they are typically aimed at fleet services and such and are heavy, expensive, and just not as user friendly for the average consumer. These DECKED systems make installation straight forward, use incredibly simple tech to keep these things super beefy and strong, and they do work like a dream. There’s a part of me that would love to figure out how to to one in my Suburban, but if you have a pickup they have you handled no problem. If you aren’t familiar, DECKED sells three different systems. They have tool boxes that take pickup truck tool boxes to a different level in both function and style, the drawer systems that we’re highlighting here, and also slide systems that essentially create a sliding floor for your pickup, van, or work truck. All three of these systems work like a champ, and some of them can be combined to make the ultimate storage and work solution. And these are made to do work. You won’t have to worry about these falling apart, rusting, or failing because of poor quality materials. And talk about security. We love these things. Watch the video below as Rae Ripple does an install like only Rae can. And if you want more info on DECKED products, just CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT THEY HAVE THAT FITS YOUR VEHICLE Video Description: Got my hands on a new @Decked system for my truck. I don’t know how I’ve lived without it. Insane how much these drawers hold. From the plasma set-up to camera gear… and I still have room for thrift store treasures. *chefs kiss for real! Only regret is not getting it sooner. The post Ever Seen A DECKED Pickup Bed Organization System? Watch Rae Ripple Install One In Her Shop Truck Right Here! appeared first on BangShift.com. Must Watch! Finnegan, Freiburger, And Friends BUILT a Big Block Chevrolet Engine For The Limo, while Riding INSIDE His LIMO Dually?! (UNBELIEVABLE)
I’ll admit that I have worked on a few cars, in the trailer, while going down the road and would give that 1 out of 10 stars, do not recommend. Part of the problem with it is that you can’t see out, and it makes you motion sick which is always fun. But what if you were in a space with two couches and lots of windows, airflow, etc? You know, like the inside of a squarebody limo crew cab dually!? Yeah, it’s as absurd as it sounds and we love it. In the video below, which is epic by the way, Finnegan and his merry band of misfits build themselves a fresh big block Chevrolet for the limo, while road tripping cross country in the limo. And I don’t mean they are doing this every time they stop. No, Freiburger is driving while Finnegan is wrenching and it is epic. If you haven’t watched the other videos from this trip, you are missing out big time. Use the link below to see them as well. CLICK HERE IF YOU MISSED ANY OF THE PREVIOUS VIDEOS FROM THIS TRIP Video Description: The 394th episode of Finnegan’s Garage is something I’ve wanted to do for so long and we finally made it happen. During a recent cross-country road trip, David Freiburger, Matt Ringer, James Bostick and I assembled a complete Big Block Chevrolet V8 engine while riding inside of my six-door Chevy Squarebody limosine pickup. The build happened as we drove from Bostick Racing Engines in Yuma, Arizona to Ten 10ths Motorsports in Albuquerque, New Mexico. If you want to see even more of the road trip then check out Freiburger’s channel @TheDavidFreiburger The new engine began with a fully machined Chevrolet Mark IV cast iron cylinder block, which we filled with a complete forged rotating assembly from Scat Enterprises. The 4.25-inch steel stroker crankshaft connected h-beam rods to forged Racetech pistons. If you’d like more info on the Scat crankshaft and connecting rods that we used in this build then go here: https://www.scatcrankshafts.com If you’d like to learn more about Ractech pistons then go here: https://www.racetecpistons.com The shortblock was topped with a pair of CNC-ported oval port 265cc aluminum cylinder heads from Airflow Research. These cost effective high-performance cylinder heads feature CNC’d intake and exhaust ports and valve springs ready for a hydraulic roller camshaft. Topping off the engine is an AFR Magnum oval port dual plane aluminum intake manifold, which not only saves weight but offers better airflow than the old cast-iron manifold found on our stock 454. If you’d like more information on AFR parts then go here: https://www.airflowresearch.com Feeding the 489ci beast is a Holley 3310 four-barrel vacuum secondary carburetor, which worked nearly flawlessly right out of the box with zero jetting changes. Go here for more info on that carb: https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_… Providing the spark is an Accel Performance HEI distributor and MSD Super Conductor 8mm spark plug wires designed and assembled specifically for 454 truck engines. For more info on the distributor go here: https://www.holley.com/products/ignit… For more info on the spark plug wires go here: https://www.holley.com/products/ignit… We topped off the engine with a pair of finned aluminum valve covers from Mickey Thompson and a chrome air cleaner from Mr. Gasket. Go here for more information on those items: https://www.holley.com/products/engin… Welcome to my channel. This is a fun place to learn about modifying, repairing and upgrading your hot rod car, truck and even boat! I’ll teach you how to weld, how to build high performance engines, how to fabricate your own parts while you learn from watching me wrench on my own project vehicles. I’ll even take you on the adventure as I leave my workshop on epic road trips and racing events as we test out the mods done to all of my projects. Along the way we’ll meet new and interesting people and share in the joy of their automotive creations! Thanks for watching! The post Must Watch! NHRA NEWS: 2026 NHRA MISSION FOODS DRAG RACING SERIES SATURDAY RESULTS FROM GAINESVILLE
BROWN WINS RIGHT TRAILERS TOP FUEL ALL-STAR CALLOUT IN FRONT OF SELLOUT CROWD AT GAINESVILLE Hart, Capps, C. Coughlin and A. Smith all qualify No. 1 at Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 7, 2026) – Four-time Top Fuel world champion Antron Brown won the Right Trailers All-Star Callout in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday at Gainesville Raceway, defeating Clay Millican in the final round of the bonus race as part of this weekend’s season-opening Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. Josh Hart (Top Fuel), Ron Capps (Funny Car), Cody Coughlin (Pro Stock) and Angie Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all qualified No. 1 at the first of 20 races during the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season. Brown became the first two-time winner of the Callout, going 4.290-seconds at 258.76 mph in his 12,000-horsepower Matco Tools dragster to get past Millican. Both cars ran into trouble, but Brown recovered in time to take the win and the $80,000 bonus. Brown will now try to repeat last season’s Gatornationals win, taking on Gary Pritchett to open eliminations. “Clay was right there and I got spoiled today,” Brown said. “The car had a fast shake and I pedaled a little bit, and we were able to get it done. It’s super exciting for us because in the offseason, we regrouped after last year and we want to revamp our program.” “What’s going to make tomorrow so tricky is, first round is going to be really good to the point it’s going to be like our Friday night setup. So first round, you better watch who you got, and race who you got, and try to think about what kind of lap you can throw out to get the job done.” Hart officially clinched his first career No. 1 qualifier, doing so in his debut with John Force Racing thanks to Friday’s run of 3.658 at a track-record 340.30 in his 12,000-horsepower Burnyzz/Speedmaster dragster. It was a special moment for Hart to do it at his home track, especially with the 340-mph run under his belt. Hart will open eliminations against Dan Mercier, looking for his first victory since his debut season in 2021. “The fans are awesome,” Hart said. “The energy is always good here. My wife always attends this race, so maybe it’s just a level of comfort. It’s the first place that I ever went down a drag strip. If I could figure out how to get that comfortable at all the other race tracks, maybe we could really chase a championship. “We’ve literally broke every single one of my career bests already this weekend. So I have all the confidence in the world. (Crew chief David Grubnic) is like the Babe Ruth of drag racing. He can almost call a shot. We’ll be ready for race day and I believe him.” Shawn Langdon qualified second with a run of 3.681 at 338.09 and Leah Pruett took third after going 3.690 at 329.10. In Funny Car, three-time champion Ron Capps picked up his first No. 1 qualifier in nearly three years after Friday’s standout run of 3.890 at 334.07 his 12,000-horsepower NAPA Auto Parts Toyota GR Supra easily held up. It’s the 38th career No. 1 qualifier for Capps, who last held the top spot at both Gainesville and Brainerd in 2023. Already the Gatornationals winningest active Funny Car driver, Capps is after his fifth victory in Gainesville and will take on John Smith to open up eliminations on Sunday. “I know I’ll never lead that list [of No. 1 qualifiers], but almost every crew chief I’ve had has been more concerned about what they do on Sunday rather than what we do in qualifying,” Capps said. “It was all about winning races and figuring out how to battle on Sunday and I’ve been blessed to be around those kinds of guys, and I’m okay with it. “First round Sunday is going to be the quickest runs of the weekend. Conditions will be better than they were Friday night. So, if you get past that round, it’s going to turn out like today [hotter], so today we were just seeing what the lanes would hold in those conditions because if we can get far enough tomorrow, it’s anybody’s game in those conditions.” J.R. Todd qualified second with a 3.912 at 334.15 and Paul Lee is third after going 3.920 at 331.12. After a solid rookie season, Pro Stock’s Cody Coughlin picked up his second career No. 1 qualifier on Saturday when his run of 6.523 at 210.01 in his Coughlin Construction Chevrolet Camaro couldn’t be topped. Next up on Coughlin’s to-do list is getting his first career victory and he’ll have that opportunity on Sunday when Coughlin takes on Chris McGaha to open up raceday. “It can’t get any better than this,” Coughlin said. “I couldn’t be more thrilled. The KB Titan guys and gals are fantastic and just really proud to drive for them. I wouldn’t want to compete in Pro Stock unless I could race with those guys. I’ve looked up to Greg Anderson for a long time. “It’s really cool to be teammates with him and it’s also cool to race out here with my dad who competes in Super Stock. It’s a cool moment and I’m just excited to try to get a Wally this year – maybe tomorrow.” Matt Hartford qualified second with a run of 6.533 at 210.41, with Matt Latino right behind thanks to a run of 6.533 at 210.37. A. Smith clinched her third career No. 1 qualifier on Saturday on the strength of Friday’s 6.740 at 199.58 on her Denso Auto Parts Buell. Smith made a pair of solid runs on Saturday in front of a capacity crowd, giving her added momentum as she seeks her first Gatornationals victory. She’ll open raceday against Kim Morrell. Reigning world champion Richard Gadson qualified second with a 6.746 at 200.00 and Matt Smith moved into third after going 6.749 at 200.71. Eliminations for the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals begin at 10 a.m. ET on Sunday at Gainesville Raceway. *** GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Sunday’s first-round pairings for eliminations for the 57th annual AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway, the first of 20 events in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. Ron Capps to Start Race Day from Pole Position at NHRA Season Opener
Three-time Funny Car world champion Ron Capps opened the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season in commanding fashion, securing the No. 1 qualifying position Saturday at the NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. Capps powered his NAPA Auto Care Funny Car to the top of the field Friday night with a standout run of 3.890 seconds at 334.07 mph, a performance that held through Saturday’s final two qualifying sessions in warm and humid conditions to earn the 38th No. 1 qualifier of his career and his third at the historic facility. As the only Funny Car team to clock a run in the 3.8-second range, and with their spot in the 16-car field secured after Friday night, crew chief Dean “Guido” Antonelli and the NAPA team used Saturday’s sessions to gather data and prepare for Sunday’s elimination rounds. “Our NAPA team, we were quietly getting ready for this season,” Capps said. “We were disappointed with how we ended last year, and we figured out the problem at the end of the season and what was going on with the car, and I could not wait to get here and sure enough, testing the first week and then Tuesday and Wednesday, the car flew, so we knew it was there. “We ran that 89 Friday night, and that allowed us today to push in what will be similar conditions tomorrow. First round, I bet we’ll see the quickest runs we’ve seen all weekend. Conditions are going to be better than they were Friday night, so if you get past that round, it’ll turn out like today. There were a lot of 4.0s in the heat first round today and Guido was wanting to run a 3.96, and I was like oh if we do that, it’ll be awesome, and the second run, he tried to run 95, so just seeing what the lanes will hold in those conditions if we can get far enough tomorrow. It’s going to be huge moonshots in the morning, and anybody’s game. It’s been fun to see Guido in that whole mindset. It was a lot of hard work in the off-season, and we’ll see what happens tomorrow.” Securing the No. 1 qualifier award wasn’t the only highlight of Capps’ weekend. Before qualifying got underway, he announced the addition of Monster Energy to his Ron Capps Motorsports roster of partners and debuted as a multi-car team owner for the first time with 21-year-old rookie Maddi Gordon driving the Carlyle Tools Top Fuel dragster. “I knew Maddi would be great, and it’s been such a fun process over the two months we put this together,” Capps said of his new teammate, who earned three bonus points for running low E.T. of the final Top Fuel session (3.797 seconds) and qualified 15th in her professional debut. “We knew that’s what (crew chief) Rob Flynn was all about. It’s just been baby steps, getting her laps, and when it’s time to turn the wick up, he will. To be able to get down that track today, it was greasy and tricky, but she’s so smooth. I only have to give her advice one time on something and she’s like a sponge. She just picks it up right away. She just came out of an Alcohol Funny Car, and you have to drive the crap out of ‘em. First day of testing we went over all the stuff I think about, and I had one little meeting with her and Rob, and she went out and did exactly everything we talked about, and it was really cool. She’s an incredible talent and there’s some things you just can’t teach.” Capps will face No. 16 qualifier John Smith on Sunday morning in the first round of eliminations as he pursues the first diamond Wally trophy up for grabs in honor of NHRA’s 75th anniversary season. The 77-time national event winner will attempt to tie his former team owner Don Prudhomme’s five victories at the historic venue when race day begins Sunday at 10 a.m. ET. Capps has seven prior final round appearances at Gainesville Raceway, including last year’s runner-up finish. Brown Wins Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout in Front of Sellout Crowd at Gainesville
Four-time Top Fuel world champion Antron Brown won the Right Trailers All-Star Callout in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday at Gainesville Raceway, defeating Clay Millican in the final round of the bonus race as part of this weekend’s season-opening Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. This story was originally published on March 7, 2026. Jonathan Allegrucci Runs to Gatornationals No. 1 Qualifier
Through three rounds of qualifying at the season opening Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals, Jonathan Allegrucci powered his Ford Mustang Cobra Jet to the No. 1 qualifier position heading into race day with a category quickest elapsed time of 7.714 seconds at 178.26 mph. Allegrucci and his Ford lead two Camaros driven by Richard Hord and Alex Anderson in the top three spots in the 16-car qualified field of the Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Series. The driver from Scott Township, Pa. will be looking for his second career win when he takes on reigning world champion Mark Pawuk in the first round. “I hate being number one for obvious reasons,” said Allegrucci, with a smile. “You either win it, which is expected, or you get upset. The tune up we have coming off the starting line is good, so we feel confident. The track out there is tricky and it is going to change, but we’re working on it. We have good notes and we’re going to do our best.” The Gatornationals is the first of nine national events for the Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Series. The NHRA is celebrating its 75th anniversary season in 2026 and the Flexjet Factory Stock program is a featured class that Allegrucci, who races a beautiful Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, is proud to represent. “It’s [the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.] the hardest one to get to, but the best one to get to, for sure,” said Allegrucci, who drove down with his wife, who is expecting their third child. “We have good teammates. There is nothing better than racing this Mustang.” The three qualifying sessions were full of surprises as Allegrucci ran to No. 1 in the first session with a strong 7.797-second pass. The second session was contested under the lights at Gainesville Raceway with much cooler conditions. Allegrucci was pushed off the No. 1 spot but charged back to the top with his 7.714 second pass that held up through a third round that was much warmer. Reigning world champion Pawuk surprisingly struggled with a new race car and enters race day as the No. 16 qualifier. Pawuk will be looking for his second Gatornationals title and a strong start to his campaign to win a third world championship with his Hemi-powered 2026 Dodge Charger Empaco Hustle Stuff Drag Pak by Direct Connection. Pawuk will also have the Flexjet $1,000 bounty on his head going into the first round. While Pawuk will be looking to improve, he will be joined in eliminations with his son Kyle who is making his debut in the class as the No. 15 qualifier. Championship contending driver Lee Hartman will also be joined on race day by his son Matt Hartman. The Hartmans are qualified No. 4 and No. 10, respectively. The duo could meet in an all-Hartman final round if they win the first three rounds of racing. This story was originally published on March 7, 2026. NHRA NEWS: 2026 NHRA MISSION FOODS DRAG RACING SERIES FRIDAY RESULTS FROM GAINESVILLE PLUS VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS
HART, CAPPS, C. COUGHLIN & A. SMITH START 75TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON WITH PROVISIONAL NO. 1 SPOTS AT GAINESVILLE GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 6, 2026) – Ocala’s Josh Hart made the fastest run in Gainesville Dragway history on Friday to open the 2026 NHRA season, taking the Top Fuel provisional No. 1 position at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. Ron Capps (Funny Car), Cody Coughlin (Pro Stock) and Angie Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) are also the provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the first of 20 races during the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season. Selections were also made for the opening round of the big-money Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout bonus race, which takes place on Saturday. Top seed and reigning event winner Doug Kalitta selected Clay Millican in a first-round rematch from last season. Shawn Langdon picked Shawn Reed, while Antron Brown chose Hart with the next pick in a matchup of two former Callout winners. That left Tony Stewart and Justin Ashley as the remaining matchup for the eight-car field. Hart went 3.658-seconds at a track-record 340.30-mph in his 12,000-horsepower Burnyzz/Speedmaster dragster to close out the first two rounds of qualifying and mark a wildly-successful debut in his first race with John Force Racing. It also puts Hart in position to claim his first career No. 1 qualifier in what could be another memorable weekend at his home track. Hart won in his first career start to open the 2021 season in Gainesville and then won the Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star in 2023. “I’m really not used to this gig, so you have to bear with me,” Hart said. “I’m super blessed. John Force and the entire team have welcomed me like a member of the family. There is no better way to do this than at your home track with everyone here. “I can’t really put it into words. When I got in this car and we went 340 in testing right off the trailer, all I can say is it was so smooth. You know, my guys have it figured out. It’s a well-oiled machine. (Crew chief) David Grubnic is a former driver, so just talking to him is like a sounding board. I can ask him questions, and he’ll give me a straight answer, which I love.” Langdon is second with a run of 3.681 at 338.09 and Leah Pruett, who is making her first appearance since 2023, is third after going 3.690 at 329.10. Three-time Funny Car world champ Ron Capps was the only car to dip into the 3.80s, delivering a stout 3.890 at 334.07 under the lights in his 12,000-horsepower NAPA Auto Parts Toyota GR Supra. Should that stand, Capps would get his 38th career No. 1 spot as he also seeks his fifth victory at Gainesville Raceway. With a diamond Wally on the line to open NHRA’s 75th anniversary season, Capps would love to pick up the first one of the season. This weekend also marks the first race of Capps’ new teammate, Top Fuel rookie Maddi Gordon. “It’s been a chaotic week. Well, it’s been a chaotic couple of months,” Capps said. “What we put together, basically from scratch, bringing Maddi [Gordon] on and getting Rod Flynn onboard, then getting her licensed. “I can’t imagine winning this year and getting one of those (diamond Wally). It’s going to be cool. I can’t imagine Maddi winning and getting one. Someday we’re going to double up. That’s going to be off the hook. It’s a big week. It’s a big, big kickoff to NHRA, and it means a lot. My whole adult life has been in this sport, and I’m looking forward to it.” J.R. Todd got bumped to the second spot with a 3.912 at 334.15 and Paul Lee took third after going 3.920 at 331.12. In Pro Stock, Cody Coughlin is off to a stellar start after a solid rookie season in 2025, sitting atop a massive 21-car field on Friday thanks to a run of 6.523 at 210.01 in his Coughlin Construction Chevrolet Camaro. Coughlin went to one final round and earned a No. 1 qualifier during his debut season last year in Pro Stock for KB Titan Racing, and appears set on improving in 2026. “We put a bite in the competition this weekend so far,” Coughlin said. “This car is great, the KB Titan guys are the best in the business and just proud to drive for them and that we were able to put a deal together to racewith each other. It’s just great.” Matt Hartford took second on Friday in the same pair as Coughlin with a run of 6.533 at 210.41, with Matt Latino right behind thanks to a run of 6.533 at 210.37. A. Smith took over the provisional spot in Pro Stock Motorcycle to close out the day, going 6.740 at 199.58 on her Denso Auto Parts Buell, giving the veteran a strong showing to open the 2026 season. Should that hold, Smith would pick up her third career No. 1 qualifier, which would be a welcome sign after finishing fourth in points a year ago. But that season didn’t include a victory or a top qualifier, something Smith would love to change this season and especially early in the year. “This was a great day. Not the beginning of the day, but by the end of the day,” Smith said. “In Q1, we broke a transmission in half and you never like to do that when you start the season. Usually, parts breakage and things like that happen in the middle of the season, but for some reason, it just snapped the shaft in half and I didn’t get a good run. “We just knew that we had to put our best foot forward and we did. When that 6.74 came up, I didn’t know if it was going to stick or not. There were some pretty heavy hitters behind me. You know, we worked really, really hard in this off-season, so hopefully our hard work pays off this year.” Reigning world champion Richard Gadson is currently second with a 6.746 at 200.00 and Gaige Herrera is third after going 6.761 at 199.91. Qualifying continues at 12: 15 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. *** GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Friday’s results after the first two of four rounds of qualifying for the 57th annual AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway, first of 20 events in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. Small Town Car Show Photos: Weekend of Wheels In Grand Island Nebraska Celebrated 53 Years Of Car Shows!
(Words and Photos by Scott Liggett) It’s been a while since we added to our small town car show series here at Bang Shift. But, after attending the Weekend Of Wheels this past Saturday, we felt we needed to share the amazing cars we saw there. This year marked the 53rd running of this show in Grand Island, NE. The first 50 years, the Tri-City Street Rods car club ran the show. When they decided 50 years was enough, one of their members took over. Danni Oberg of Knucklehead Garage took on the task and he has been doing an amazing job. If you thought a car show in a small town wouldn’t have much to see, you would be so wrong. Over 200 cars showed up, filling up the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center with some amazing, high quality builds. Check out the galleries to see what those in the middle part of Nebraska have in their collections. Check out our first gallery below and we’ll have more coming! Trailer Tech: Bearing Buddy VS. EZ Lube-What’s The Difference, And Are Either One Of Them Right For You And Your Trailer?
A good trailer is invaluable, and I’d argue that a huge portion of the population should own one and doesn’t even realize it. But one thing that happens to so many trailers, is that they get forgotten until you need them, and that means that maintenance isn’t usually very well done. The good thing is that most trailers really only have one or two things that need maintenance, but one of those is wheel bearings. According to Dexter axles they recommend you lube bearings once a year, or every 12,000 miles. I’m willing to bet that most trailers never see that lube at any kind of regular interval. So if you want to make lubing axles easy, or build some safety in so forgetting isn’t as big a deal, EZ Lube and Bearing Buddies are a good accessory. But what’s the difference and which one should you use? Watch the video from our friends at The TrailerSmith and you’ll have a lot more info in order to decide. Check it out. Video Description: Which one is better-Bearing Buddy or EZ Lube? In this video, The TrailerSmith cuts through the noise of bearing lubrication, maintenance and repack while comparing Bearing Buddy to EZ Lube. Learn how to ACTUALLY maintain your trailer’s bearings regardless of which system you have and see what the manufacturers of these products say about service intervals.
