Tariffs and Their Aftermath Due to import tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, Stellantis moved production of the next-generation Compass from Canada to Illinois. The shift led to the Brampton plant being idled, leaving thousands of workers in limbo and sparking backlash in Canada. Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources, reports that Stellantis is now considering using the idled plant to build Chinese electric vehicles with Leapmotor, in which it holds an approximately 20 percent stake. The Future Of Speed Just Got Schooled By Students In a competition that has quietly become a pipeline for fresh talent, Stellantis has named Felix Bucaro, a Wisconsin high school senior, as the grand prize winner of its 2026 Drive for Design contest. This year’s brief, “Design the Future of Fast,” pushed students to reinterpret performance through the lens of SRT using brands like Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and Chrysler. Bucaro’s concept stood out among a competitive field, signaling both technical unde

Stellantis' Surprise Performer Money-wise, Stellantis isn't having such a good time. It posted a $26.3 billion loss last year, marking the first time it has recorded losses since the company was formed in 2021. Contributing to that was its costly EV strategy and product planning realignment. That's despite being Europe's second-largest automaker behind the Volkswagen Auto Group. Fiat, Peugeot, and Jeep were the stars of the Stellantis range. However, the other brands in its stable either stayed

Stellantis has posted a €22.3 billion ($26.3 billion) net loss for 2025, the first since the automotive holding company was formed in January 2021 from the 50/50 merger of FiatChrysler Automobiles (FCA) and France's PSA Group. The automaker had recorded a full-year profit of 5.5 billion euros for 2024. The company said that the massive net loss is due to €25.4 billion in charges for H2 2025 that include resetting the product plan and EV supply chain to reflect customer demand and shifting regula

Stellantis Sues Dealership In the auto industry, lawsuits usually go one way. Automakers are often the defendants in cases involving recalls, warranty disputes, or franchise disagreements. This time, the script is flipped. According to a report from ABC Affiliate KCRG off of Iowa, Stellantis has filed a lawsuit accusing an Iowa dealership of orchestrating a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme tied to vehicle inventory financing. The complaint was filed by Stellantis Financial Services against Sky A

Near the end of 2025, Stellantis pulled the plug on 4xe plug-in hybrid versions of both the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee. The automaker had issued recalls for the PHEVs in 2023 and 2024, plus another in November last year, but a remedy for potential battery fires had not been developed, so dealers were instructed to stop selling the SUVs, and both were pulled from Jeep's website. For those who had already taken delivery of a 4xe Jeep, however, these efforts have not been appreciated, as

Stellantis’ U.S. sales have been declining for seven consecutive years now, and the company’s top brass told dealers they cannot tolerate this situation anymore. That’s why 2026 is the year that Stellantis sales must start growing again in the U.S.–at least that’s what transpired after a packed closed-door meeting last week between Stellantis senior executives and many of the company’s dealers at the National Automobile Dealers Association annual convention. Dealers Have "All The Tools That They

Losses to Gains Last year was a very tough year for the Stellantis group of automotive brands. Across the board, it reported a $26 billion loss, the group's first annual loss since its formation in 2021. Diving deeper, in Q1 of 2025, it lost $454 million alone, a harbinger of what was to come for the rest of the year. Eager to turn things around, Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa boldly launched a recovery program that would right the ship. So far, things seem to have worked, but further changes are

Cherokee Returns, But Not Without Friction Stellantis brought back the Jeep Cherokee for 2026, aiming to put one of Jeep’s most important models back in the spotlight. The new sixth-generation Cherokee, now with a hybrid option, started showing up in US dealerships earlier this year. Early buyers already have theirs, and the launch seemed smooth at first. But that momentum didn’t last. Production is now on pause, so if you ordered recently, your Cherokee might not arrive on time. The problem isn

A $50,000 Market Isn’t Built for Everyone The US new-car market just crossed a line few expected: the average price for a new vehicle now sits above $50,000. Ten years ago, that would have sounded impossible. Trucks and SUVs are leading the charge, buyers are picking higher trims, and tech features that used to be optional are now standard. That pricing reality is starting to strain the market. Monthly payments are climbing, loan terms are stretching to 72 or even 84 months, and middle-income bu

After all, who wouldn’t want a 383 powered 4-speed Road Runner in their driveway? This thing is cool and in typical Steve fashion you’ll learn something about Road Runners you might not have known. Steve Magnante is back at it, at Backyard Auto in New Hampshire to check out another great muscle car shell. This is a 1965 Dodge Coronet 440, and while it didn’t come with a Hemi under the hood, it is the exact body that would have been used to build them in 1965 and that means you could build your own out of this one right here. These are incredibly expensive cars if they are real 990 Race Hemi cars, and we know of one of the finest in the country that is for sale right now for 6 figures. Che

Metro vans are awesome. There are a long line of Metro, Divco, Chevrolet, Ford, and more who built milk trucks, bread trucks, and local delivery vehicles of all kinds during the 1950s and 1960’s. These have been popular with hot rodders for decades, and I know I’m not the only one who would love to own one. In the video below, everybody’s beloved automotive history expert Steve Magnante is going to school us on the Metro after finding one in the wrecking yard. Check it out and let us know what y

When I see this 428 Cobra Jet Torino, I think about the ones that raced in Stock Eliminator as I was growing up and still do today. This is a rare example of the muscle that Ford flexed when it came to Cobra Jet vehicles, and this one that Steve Magnante has found in the junkyard got me a little excited. It’s an R-Code, Ram Air car, with a 4-speed, and that makes this one worth some coin. This one is a project, for sure, but it is saveable. Check out Steve’s walk around and let us know what you

Woodies are cool. They always have been, but the 1949-1951 Fords are some of the most beloved. These things make great hot rods and are super cool to find because they are pretty rare. One thing about Woody wagons like these to remember is that restoring something like this takes a ton of woodwork. What makes them unique is clearly the thing that makes them expensive, but this one here in Steve’s video looks savable to me! So who wants to build a cool woody wagon? The post Steve Magnante’s

Last fall Disco Dean Karns crashed his awesome Pontiac Firebird Trans Am they called Stinky Pinky 5, and while Dean came out of it okay, the same could not be said for the poor Trans Am. This was an awesome car, and super popular with the fans, but there is something about this new Chevelle that does it for me too. Showing up at Darana Motorsports Park for the first race on this new car had Dean nervous, but Jesse and the crew had him setup and good. Apparently better than he could even have ex

Ferrari has made headlines nonstop this year for a wide range of reasons, from oval-shaped piston designs to the controversial 849 Testarossa release. But this week, one of Maranello’s most expensive modern creations made the news for far less glamorous reasons. A stolen Ferrari Purosangue was crashed into a utility pole in Miami’s Brickell district following a brief police pursuit, triggering a power outage and an investigation that’s still unfolding. What began as a routine luxury vehicle tran

Have you ever been driving down the road and had a backseat or passenger seat driver telling you how you should be doing it better? Or telling you straight up that you are doing it wrong? Worse yet is the passive aggressive backseat driver. If you have driven with this person then you have probably, at some point, said something along the lines of “If you think you can do a better job, then you drive!”. Well what happens when a Rally driver decides that they are tired of listening to their navig

Back to the '70s? With conflict raging in the Middle East yet again, there's bound to be rippling effects across the world from trade to energy. Following U.S. air strikes over Iran, the latter has retaliated by closing down the Strait of Hormuz. To oversimplify things, it could trigger yet another energy crisis. If so, we might experience something similar to the '70s, wherein successive oil crises heavily impacted the export of oil from the Middle East. The U.S. wasn't the only country affecte
