Sayonara, Ford Escape Last week, on December 17, the production line at Ford's Louisville Assembly Plant bid farewell, as the last Ford Escape made its way across the production line. Alongside its luxury twin, the Lincoln Corsair, the Blue Oval announced that the two models will end production back in August, as it prepares to retool the plant for a new electric vehicle built on its next-generation platform. On the factory floor, production line workers, including Gregorio Mosiea, expressed emo

After a suspicious automotive spending spree that included a BMW i8, a Chevrolet Corvette, and a fleet of SUVs, a Miami woman is now facing multiple felony charges. On the surface, it looked like another case of big-money indulgence in a city known for its extravagant car scene and annoying drivers. But authorities claim the entire collection was built on fraudulent financing. 10 Vehicles in Just 8 Days Mercedes-Benz

A New Jersey woman is suing Volvo Car USA and a Volvo employee after she says a hands-free power tailgate struck her in the head and left her with a traumatic brain injury. The lawsuit, filed in Superior Court of New Jersey in Ocean County, stems from an October 2023 hiking trip where plaintiff Megan Kohr was standing behind a Volvo SUV with its tailgate open. According to the complaint, a motion sensor under the rear bumper interpreted the movement of a dog walking behind the vehicle as a com

I miss that you don’t get to watch every World Rally Championship event from start to finish like we used to get back in the day, unless you pay for a subscription of some kind. The coverage that was available back in the early 2000’s was excellent, with on track, in car, in the pits, and aerial footage as well. And that was without all the great technology that exists today to make shooting races like this even easier. I say all this because whenever I do see YouTube coverage it makes me happy

An outfit called Donut Lab has revealed the world's first production-ready solid-state battery. Designed specifically for electric vehicles, the battery can be recharged to full capacity in just five minutes, and that's a big deal. While some early adopters have been willing to deal with the inconveniences of EV ownership, the vast majority of those who are agnostic about what powers their cars remain unwilling to deal with the long wait times that recharging an electric vehicle requires; even i

Charge EV Batteries Faster Without Dying Out EV Battery manufacturer CATL says it has effectively addressed one of the biggest anxieties in EV ownership: battery degradation from repeated DC fast charging. According to a report from InsideEVs, the Chinese battery giant claims its new 5C lithium-ion cells can retain 80 percent of their capacity after 1,400 full charge-discharge cycles at 140 degrees Fahrenheit. With a theoretical 372 miles of range per cycle, that equates to roughly 522,000 mile

The founder and chairman of CATL, the world’s largest EV battery manufacturer, believes the protectionist measures the US has taken in recent years to prevent Chinese EVs and batteries from penetrating the market will hurt the US auto industry more in the long term. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Robin Zeng, who is China’s fourth richest man, said the American EV market is doomed without CATL. While the Biden and Trump administrations have imposed prohibitive tariffs on Chinese-ma

So you think the new ZR1 is fast, but know the ZR1X is an absolute beast? We’ve all been hearing all about what they are both capable of doing, and it is nothing short of amazing. For decades I’ve said that no car beats a brand new Corvette with $10k-20k worth of mods, but now it looks like nothing beats it from the factory. This car is nuts, and this is the ultimate test to see just how nuts is nuts. Video Description: World First ZR1X Drag Race! We race the 1250-hp Corvette ZR1X against th

I’m a fan of a C4 Corvette, but I’m not sure that this one isn’t cursed. When Derek got it and started working on it, the problems became bigger and bigger and bigger. It had an incredibly horrible fuel system that ultimately required a whole new fuel pump, fuel tank, and more. Then there is the ignition. Oh and the wiring. Oh, and … Yeah, there is a lot. We’ve got BOTH episodes below for you to check out, so check it out and let us know. The first episode is at the bottom of the page. Video De

Xiaomi’s EV Play Is No Longer a Side Project Not long ago, Xiaomi’s move into cars looked like a side project for a company better known for phones and smart home gadgets. That changed fast– the original SU7 sold really well. The high-performance Ultra version even made headlines by beating established hypercars in controlled tests. Xiaomi has moved past the experimental phase and is now refining what already worked. The new-generation SU7 has been introduced in China, sticking to the same formu

Tracing the Roots of 'ReVolvolution' It was in the '80s when Volvo began exploring a more adventurous side, fitting turbochargers into its engines. First, it was the 240 that got a healthy amount of boost, even spawning a touring car version that actually proved successful in motorsport. Not content with that, Volvo proceeded to do the same thing for the 900 Series with the 940 Turbo, better known as the 940 SE in the U.S. Into the '90s, the 850 gained a T-5 model that further enhanced the brand

Humble Beginnings to Legendary Status A lot of the automotive icons we appreciate today started out as humble models part of a big lineup. Ford's Escort was primarily developed and built as a standard family car, replacing the aging Anglia model. Introduced in the late '60s, the Escort Mk1 quickly became something more than a dependable day-to-day car. Its status comes from a very successful stint as a rally car. It was lauded for being simple but strong, along with Rear Wheel Drive and a modern

If you own a popular muscle car or classic truck, you can buy most of the hardlines you might need for them from a variety of restoration houses. But if you own something more obscure, or your budget is tight, then making your own brake, fuel, or trans cooler lines at home is arguably the smart choice. So how do you do that? What tools do you need? And how hard is it? The answer is not that hard, and you don’t need that many tools. In fact, you can do hard lines with very simple and cost effect

While they made a one-off to showcase the collaboration's potential back in 2024, this time around, you can spec your own Bentley with the help of Mulliner to add some fine jewelry to your interior. Not Just Another Corolla The world has gone mad obsessing over a two-door Corolla, and for good reason. Blame Japan for crafting one of the most perfect underdog stories ever written about a tofu delivery boy and his beat-up Panda Trueno, sticking it to pretty boys and their expensive toys. Also, you can blame brands like Tom's for keeping the hype alive and the fandom dreaming. Toyota's humble little AE86 was positioned as an entry-level sports coupe, whose lineage continues to this day thank

Keeping Heritage Alive There are some automotive brands that have managed to stay alive and somewhat relevant over the years despite remaining small operations. Lotus has had an interesting automotive story, born out of Colin Chapman's desire to build true light sports cars using technology from F1. It has had its ups and downs over the years, but people have always believed in the brand, and it remains recognizable today. In fact, the brand is celebrating a major milestone this year, 77 years s

Not Your Typical Ferrari Experience Stepping inside the Ferrari 12Cilindri would probably be a dream for many, not just because of the brand’s prestige, but also because it retains a traditional naturally aspirated V12 engine at a time when the industry is rapidly moving toward electrification, something many enthusiasts appreciate. So perhaps this new and unique 12Cilindri experience may be the closest most of us will ever get to being up close with the supercar, albeit with a major twist. Ferr

Audi's Straight-Five Legacy It's safe to say that Audi is one of the pioneers of the inline-five engine. Even though it wasn't the first, five-cylinders have become one of its hallmarks, especially back in the '80s. That said, the first inline-five was from Mercedes-Benz, but its development was led by Ferdinand Piëch of the Porsche dynasty, who later returned to the family business to build one for Audi. The Audi 100, also known as the 5000 in North America, was Ingolstadt's first model to offe
