A Second Look – This Time in Yellow Capricorn Group gave us a clear look at how far its first road-car program has progressed at Salon Rétromobile in Paris by showing a running Capricorn 01 Zagato hypercar. The new example is finished bright, sunny yellow – a sharp contrast to the Verde Knokke green car that debuted last year. The yellow car in Paris is the first time we’ve seen this configuration in public, with new colors inside and out and a few technical tweaks. The second prototype is fully

This is a cool episode of Capturing Car Culture if you are like us and love to see factory and how its made videos. I’ve been on several automotive assembly plant tours and can tell you that regardless of what they are building it is fun to watch. But this assembly line and area are a bit different than the norm, because rather than spending seconds per station, these cars are being built to go fast and that means putting them together slowly. The GR line of Toyotas are special built performance

A Shift in Buyer Sentiment The perception that buying a car is a cumbersome and dreaded chore is finally shifting. A survey conducted by Kelly Blue Book’s parent company Cox Automotive, for their annual Car Buyer Journey study, found that 76 percent of the 2,344 respondents who bought a new or used car from a dealership in the last 12 months were ‘highly satisfied’ with the experience. Car Buying Experience When someone is looking to purchase a new car, the experience entails a lot of mixed emotions. Exhilaration and excitement from the prospect of a new car, sometimes tiring and frustrating, given the many processes that come with it. Car shopping behavior has changed over the years. The ease and expansion of the internet have enabled people to gather as much information as possible before making a purchase. Another new frontier of tech is Artificial Intelligence (AI), which

Brand Loyalty Isn’t What It Used To Be Brand loyalty used to come naturally in the car industry. Buyers would purchase a vehicle from brands like Toyota or Honda, build years of trust with the dealership, then return later for another vehicle. That cycle helped create generations of repeat customers. While those brands still rank highly in customer loyalty studies today, the reasons people stay loyal are changing quickly. Vehicle affordability is now putting pressure on customer retention across

If you’ve ever bought a new vehicle chances are you know the story: you spot a great price on the new model you’ve been eyeing, low enough to manage the monthly payments. But when you go to the showroom and get ready to close the deal, the actual price comes in hundreds, even thousands of dollars more than what was advertised. It happens so frequently the Federal Trade Commission is finally stepping in. In a letter sent to 97 auto dealer groups, the agency warned that the price retailers adverti

Our friend John Jackson is back at it with another great feature shoot video, but this time it’s with something even more rare than his norm. This 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is one of just 400 built in ’57, with another 304 built in 1958. These cars were the most expensive car in the United States at the time, with a price tag just north of $13,000. Keep in mind that an Eldorado Barritz was just over $7,000 at the time, and that was an ultra high end machine. But this one right here is some

China's Knocking Chinese automakers have been making huge leaps in recent years. Whether we're talking tech, manufacturing, or global sales (whether manufactured or not), the sheer number of models that come from the East on a near-daily basis. Rising Costs First, rising fuel prices were pushing people to the edge; now, car maintenance will tax owners. Following all the news surrounding the Iran war and its economic effects, fuel prices were the first gut punch consumers had to stomach, but now, as NBC San Diego reports, "Drivers [are] delaying car maintenance as costs rise." Higher costs of ownership and busy schedules are to blame. Apparently, it's a luxury to be able to keep up with your maintenance schedule now. The Iran War is se

Car Owners Are Doing the Math While dealership servicing is often recommended, some owners prefer taking their cars to independent shops. A recent Ducker Carlisle study touched on that trend, finding that price is the main reason behind the shift. Ducker Carlisle’s Nate Chenenko told Automotive News that quick lube shops made more money from 2024 to 2025, while dealerships made less. Both quick lubes and dealers are raising prices, though the former is doing so at a slower rate. The study also f

A costly new normal If it feels like buying a new car now comes with a rent-sized bill every month, the numbers back you up. New data from credit reporting agency Experian shows the average monthly payment on a new vehicle in the U.S. has climbed to $748—a level that would have sounded absurd less than a decade ago. According to Experian’s report, which runs through the third quarter of 2025, the typical new car now sells for $42,332. With average interest rates at 6.56 percent, it doesn’t take

The Solution to Rising Car Prices A report from Reuters says the Trump administration’s top auto policy officials are seeking to lower vehicle prices by scaling back emissions regulations. This aligns with the fact that average new car prices surpassed $50,000 in December 2025. Despite what some view as opposition to electrified vehicles, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the market should not depend on “government policy to encourage EV purchases while penalizing combustion engines.” Tha

A (Literal) Touchy Topic I was never a fan of software buttons. While they do have their place in certain car functions, the basics need to be covered. The industry finally seems to have gotten the message, with major players starting to move back into the physical realm. Yes, it's cheaper to simply have a screen that controls everything, and no, it's not going to be as ergonomic, and (at least some) brands are coming to their senses. In an Autocar interview with Luke Miles, founder of NewTerrit

The weather in Texas during the GoodGuys LMC Truck Spring Lonestar Nationals was all over the place across the DFW area. In some places they got it as bad as expected, some places worse, and some places got a fraction of the rain and severe weather that was seen in other spots. So while there were surely a lot of folks that didn’t show up for the show, GoodGuys shows are held rain or shine and that means there were still cars there vying for awards and looking to have fun. But a new wrongful death lawsuit could be the biggest smear on its reputation yet, with the plaintiff alleging that the retailer must take at least partial responsibility for selling a car that caused the carbon monoxide poisoning and death of 21-year-old student Allwyn Thompson Jr. Morgan & Morgan is the legal firm filing the lawsuit,
