Tesla has been having a tough time in the US, with sales continuing to decline. While EV interest has slowed across the US, one Texas police department is still willing to test the idea in the real world. The Murphy Police Department is adding two patrol-ready Tesla Model Y Juniper units to its fleet, converted by UP.FIT. Over the next year, the department will evaluate whether these compact electric SUVs can realistically replace existing patrol vehicles like the Ford Explorer and Chevrolet Tah

I love budget builds. Hell, everything I own is a budget build. But sometimes I think folks are just trying to make things harder on themselves. I mean Ryan’s mismatched Fairmont is a GREAT platform for doing this one the cheap, since it is the original Foxbody, but some might say he’s nuts to be trying to do this with an 8.2 deck small block Ford. Oh, and he’s doing it NA. Oh, but that’s not the best part. Nope, not by a long shot. He’s doing it with a STICK! Yep, stick. WTF. I’d love to make

EVs vs Supercars, Again With electric vehicles like the Tesla Model S Plaid dominating quarter-mile races, it has become widely accepted that EVs can keep up with nearly any supercar under these conditions. But would that still hold in this particular matchup from Carwow, where a Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 faced off against a Rivian R1T that is roughly twice its size and belongs to an entirely different segment? The Corvette Z06 is a track-focused, street-legal supercar with 670 horsepower from a

The Charger Finally Gets Its Shot For the first time since Dodge controversially pivoted the Charger nameplate toward electrification, we finally get a proper answer to the question muscle car fans have been asking: Can a gasoline-powered Charger still run with the best? In a cold-weather drag race staged by YouTube channel Throttle House, the new gas-fed Dodge Charger lines up against two modern American benchmarks, the Ford Mustang Dark Horse and the older brute force of a Dodge Challenger SRT

When it comes to road trips we’re always saying that it is the journey, not the destination, that is most important. And when building hot rods or race cars we often say that the process is as important as the finished product. So if those things are true, does the process have to match the finished project. If you are building an ultra high end hot rod, do you need to use ultra high end tools? Or can you build one with what you have and the finished product is all that matters? And to take it

If you haven’t seen a video with an RC car hauling ass across a lake, or the same thing with a dirt bike or snowmobile, you must live under a rock. It’s not hard for an RV car as they have way more power than necessary for their size and they just skim across the water. The same goes for a snowmachine, but it can be a bit trickier on a dirt bike. Regardless of what you are in, or on, the act of making it across a body of water under power requires some pretty simple things to happen. The most im

I know that everyone out there reading this has at some point or another seen a car, truck, or other motor vehicle do impossible, or at least unlikely, things on camera in tv or movies. As car guys and gals, I know we can be more critical but come on. Some of the things they do are just ridiculous. Many others are rather plausible, and some even make you question whether they are possible. One of the more mundane and common is the good old gate crash. Can a car really ram a chain link fence and

Cheap car and truck paint jobs have always been popular, whether in DIY stories in magazines, on the internet, or with companies like Earl Sheib and Maaco. Hell, Earl Sheib would paint any car for $19.95 when they first started in the late 1930’s and were still only charging $99.95 in the 1990’s! Maaco still offers cheap paint jobs, but the ultimate low buck spray job is going to come from home usually. That means that if you are DIYer then you need to pay attention to this one, but keep in mind

Canada & China make a deal on canola products and Chinese-made EVs In an announcement during his official state visit to Beijing on January 16, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada and China have entered into a sweeping "strategic partnership" that would dramatically lower tariffs on key products from their respective countries. During a news conference, Mr. Carney announced that Canada will allow up to 49,000 Chinese-made electric vehicles to be imported and sold in th

The Porsche Carrera GT remains one of Stuttgart’s most iconic creations, known for its screaming V10, raw character, and infamous reputation among drivers. In recent years, many companies have tried to bring classic Porsches into the modern day. Builders like Singer, Theon Design, and Zeigler Bailey have all made unique creations in the restomod world. Yet, most of them reimagine old 911s, and few manage to do it quite like Canepa. At the 2026 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance weekend, the Calif

Capricorn and Zagato’s Analog Hypercar Takes a Different Turn Most new hypercars are packed with hybrid tech, screens everywhere, and more computers than you’ll ever need. The Capricorn 01 Zagato does the opposite. Built by Capricorn Group with Zagato, it’s all about old-school driving feel instead of digital overload. Capricorn isn’t new to motorsport. This is a cool episode of Capturing Car Culture if you are like us and love to see factory and how its made videos. I’ve been on several automotive assembly plant tours and can tell you that regardless of what they are building it is fun to watch. But this assembly line and area are a bit different than the norm, because rather than spending seconds per station, these cars are being built to go fast and that means putting them together slowly. The GR line of Toyotas are special built performance

Larry Chen has seen some cool stuff. He’s incredibly fortunate to have experienced car culture, events, builds, builders, manufacturers, and more all over the world. So when he goes somewhere and it really excites him and makes him smile, you know it has to be pretty good. That’s the thing I love about this video. He’s as giddy as the people who own and enjoy these cars, and in this video he’s exploring all the fun that encompasses the car culture in Brazil. Yes, Brazil. Watch this video and l

A Shift in Buyer Sentiment The perception that buying a car is a cumbersome and dreaded chore is finally shifting. A survey conducted by Kelly Blue Book’s parent company Cox Automotive, for their annual Car Buyer Journey study, found that 76 percent of the 2,344 respondents who bought a new or used car from a dealership in the last 12 months were ‘highly satisfied’ with the experience. This marks the highest car buyer satisfaction rate in the survey’s 16-year history.

Car Buying Experience When someone is looking to purchase a new car, the experience entails a lot of mixed emotions. Exhilaration and excitement from the prospect of a new car, sometimes tiring and frustrating, given the many processes that come with it. Car shopping behavior has changed over the years. The ease and expansion of the internet have enabled people to gather as much information as possible before making a purchase. Another new frontier of tech is Artificial Intelligence (AI), which

Brand Loyalty Isn’t What It Used To Be Brand loyalty used to come naturally in the car industry. Buyers would purchase a vehicle from brands like Toyota or Honda, build years of trust with the dealership, then return later for another vehicle. That cycle helped create generations of repeat customers. While those brands still rank highly in customer loyalty studies today, the reasons people stay loyal are changing quickly. Vehicle affordability is now putting pressure on customer retention across

If you’ve ever bought a new vehicle chances are you know the story: you spot a great price on the new model you’ve been eyeing, low enough to manage the monthly payments. But when you go to the showroom and get ready to close the deal, the actual price comes in hundreds, even thousands of dollars more than what was advertised. It happens so frequently the Federal Trade Commission is finally stepping in. In a letter sent to 97 auto dealer groups, the agency warned that the price retailers adverti

This here is the kind of hot rod that gets your attention and makes you think “perfect” as you walk up to it. I’m sure that once you start looking close, someone is going to have something to say about one choice or another, but when it comes to Model A hot rods this bad boy right here is something special. I love a good traditionally styled Model A in general, but the fact that this one is painted a color that we normally don’t see at traditional shows, really turns my crank. I dig this car a

Our friend John Jackson is back at it with another great feature shoot video, but this time it’s with something even more rare than his norm. This 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is one of just 400 built in ’57, with another 304 built in 1958. These cars were the most expensive car in the United States at the time, with a price tag just north of $13,000. Keep in mind that an Eldorado Barritz was just over $7,000 at the time, and that was an ultra high end machine. But this one right here is some

Rising Costs First, rising fuel prices were pushing people to the edge; now, car maintenance will tax owners. Following all the news surrounding the Iran war and its economic effects, fuel prices were the first gut punch consumers had to stomach, but now, as NBC San Diego reports, "Drivers [are] delaying car maintenance as costs rise." Higher costs of ownership and busy schedules are to blame. Apparently, it's a luxury to be able to keep up with your maintenance schedule now. The Iran War is se

Car Owners Are Doing the Math While dealership servicing is often recommended, some owners prefer taking their cars to independent shops. A recent Ducker Carlisle study touched on that trend, finding that price is the main reason behind the shift. Ducker Carlisle’s Nate Chenenko told Automotive News that quick lube shops made more money from 2024 to 2025, while dealerships made less. Both quick lubes and dealers are raising prices, though the former is doing so at a slower rate. The study also f
