A New GT500 in All but Name The Mustang Dark Horse SC is important for Ford, but not just as another trim. It steps in as the real-world replacement for the Shelby GT500, minus the badge. When it arrived in New York, it was clear Ford built it to fill that gap. The specs line up with what you’d expect. Ford swapped in a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 for the usual naturally aspirated engine, and most of the hardware is aimed at track performance. Carbon fiber wheels are on the options list, the aero

The Most Powerful Dark Horse Ford has officially revealed power specifications for its upcoming Mustang Dark Horse SC, a supercharged version of the high-performance Dark Horse. We knew the SC would use the same 5.2-liter supercharged Predator V8 that was previously found under the hood of the Shelby GT500 (and is currently used in the Mustang GTD), but the new Dark Horse will produce more power: 795 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque, to be exact.

We’ve known for a few days now that Ford has something big planned for the Mustang at the Detroit Auto Show this month. Two new models from the Ford Racing department are expected, with rumors suggesting the Mustang Cobra or Boss nameplates would be making a comeback. Well, we now know what at least one of these models will be, thanks to a new teaser on the official Ford Mustang Instagram page. A more extreme, track-capable Dark Horse will be revealed tomorrow, and the spine-tingling sound bite

Australia’s Mount Panorama Circuit is already one of the toughest, most demanding racetracks in the world, packed with blind corners, huge elevation changes and unforgiving concrete walls. As is so often the case in Australia, though, the wildlife presents an extra layer of danger. In this case, though, it’s not venomous snakes or spiders the drivers need to worry about, but bouncy marsupials. It’s not an unusual sight for a kangaroo to find its way onto the circuit, which sits in the town of Ba

A Mustang With a Point to Prove When Top Gear stages a lap-time test, the results tend to resonate well beyond the perimeter fence of their test tracks. It has long served as a neutral proving ground where marketing claims collide with the stopwatch. In the show’s latest YouTube feature, that tradition continued with the arrival of the Ford Mustang GTD, handed to The Stig for a full-bore attempt to validate Ford’s boldest performance promises yet. Ford’s ambition for the GTD has never been subtl

A Mustang With Something to Prove Ford hasn’t released a new mid-engine supercar to rival the Chevrolet C8 Corvette ZR1, but one could argue the Mustang GTD effectively fills that role. Thanks to Hagerty, its performance has now been put to the test against the Blue Oval’s true supercars from two different eras—the first- and second-generation GT. With 815 horsepower from a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 on tap, the Mustang GTD would appear poised to dominate both its supercar siblings in a drag race

Last year, the Ford Mustang GTD’s Nürburgring lap record for American cars was broken by two Chevy Corvettes, those being the ZR1 and ZR1X. Despite the Corvettes being a lot cheaper than the $300,000 GTD, they both managed to edge the hot Mustang around the Green Hell. Not long after that, Ford CEO Jim Farley hinted that a revenge lap was on the cards. Now, new evidence has emerged that an optimized version of the Mustang GTD has claimed back its Nürburgring record—and by a much wider margin tha

Pole Position, Literally Auction events are a big moment for many car owners, as all their hard work preparing their lots for sale finally comes to market. Unfortunately, one Ford Mustang Mach 1 owner saw that highly anticipated moment turn into a nightmare after the front end of their pony car was damaged. In a TikTok post by user mopar_keith, who was at Mecum Indy 2026 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, a red 1970 Mustang Mach 1 slammed into a pole with a crowd surrounding the v

A Familiar Formula, Now with an Artistic Twist Ford has never shied away from special-edition Mustangs. There’s always something in the lineup – heritage models, track specials, or just appearance tweaks – that gives buyers a little more character than the standard car. This time, Ford teamed up with Troy Lee Designs (TLD) to introduce the Mustang TLD Signature Edition. If you follow motorsports, you’ve seen TLD's work – custom-painted helmets and gear that stand out in motocross, IndyCar, NASCA

One of the cool things about EVs—especially those built on dedicated battery-electric platforms—is that they offer not only one but two trunks. Besides the traditional luggage compartment in the back, many EVs also offer a so-called "frunk," short for front trunk. This is enabled by the specific packaging of electric vehicles, which don't require that much room for the powertrain and have far fewer less ancillaries than an internal combustion engine vehicle. It goes without saying that the frunk

Good news for anyone with a Coyote V8-powered Ford F-150 or Mustang, including the Lobo and Dark Horse: Ford is offering factory-supported supercharger kits for 2026 models equipped with the 5.0-liter V8. Developed alongside the experts at Whipple Superchargers, whose customers are already big fans of supercharging the Blue Oval's products, the Ford F-150 kit boosts output to 700 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, while the Mustang GT and Dark Horse can go as high as 810 hp and 615 lb-ft when t

Staying Alive It's been a tough 2025 and the start of 2026 for the automotive industry, from the EV slowdown and market preference shift to the oil crisis. Automakers have been putting out fires left and right, pivoting strategies, or offering more incentives to entice new car buyers. To tackle the fuel price issue, Ford in the US is offering a very unique incentive program. One that tackles fuel prices head-on for potential new car buyers through gas cards. This might also be the way the brand

The Ford Mustang = Pop Culture The Ford Mustang occupies a unique place in automotive history. Conceived in Detroit, unveiled to the public at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, and endlessly romanticized on the streets and highways of California, the Mustang became more than a car; it became a cultural shorthand for freedom, youth, and pop culture in general. Its long hood and accessible performance helped define the “pony car” segment and embedded the Mustang into decades of American pop culture,

It’s never a good sign when a company’s financial results draw comparisons with the Great Recession of 2008, but that’s exactly what surfaced from Ford’s latest quarterly earnings. The Q4 2025 earnings were the company’s worst in four years, while the net loss of $8.2 billion for the entire 2025 calendar year is its largest since the 2008 recession, according to FactSet (via CNBC). Perhaps the fourth-quarter net loss of $11.1 billion should be more worrying, though it included $15.5 billion in s

The Ford Expedition first appeared in 1996 and has sold over 3 million units since then, and to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, the Blue Oval has launched the 2027 Expedition 30th Anniversary Appearance Package. It's an upgrade to the Expedition's Stealth Appearance Package (which means it comes on the Platinum trim) and adds paint that was formerly exclusive to the Mustang Dark Horse, special badges inside and out, and light-colored upholstery that may be tricky to keep clean with kid

A SEMA Idea Resurfaces Before the Mustang GTD era swallowed most of Ford's performance attention, there was another factory-backed monster waiting in the wings. At the 2023 SEMA Show, Ford revealed the original Mustang FP800S concept package, built around the S650 Mustang GT and a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger that pushed the Coyote V8 to 800 horsepower. It was meant to preview a future production upgrade, though after that event, the trail went quiet and no formal follow-up ever came from Dear

America’s Favorite Truck, Now Under Scrutiny For years, the Ford F-150 has been the go-to truck for Americans. It’s always at the top of the sales charts, and full-size pickups still rule the market. The recipe is simple: lots of options, real capability, and a reputation built over decades. When a truck is this popular, any problem hits harder. That’s what’s happening now: Ford just announced a recall for a huge number of older F-150s. These aren’t showroom-new, but they’re still working hard a

Ford’s Recall Streak Now Hits the Ranger Ford has been on a recall spree, not just with one model. Just a few days ago, millions of F-150s were recalled for transmission problems – a big deal for Ford’s most important truck. Now the midsize Ranger joins the list, but for a different reason. This isn’t a mechanical fault – it’s an electrical one. The numbers aren’t as huge as the F-150 recall, but over 140,000 trucks is still a lot.

Ford Bronco, Ranger Back on the Recall List It hasn’t been long since Ford Motor Company issued a massive recall covering more than 1.7 million SUVs and crossovers over faulty rearview cameras – some of which included the Ford Bronco. Meanwhile, the Ranger was just recalled last month for a faulty wiring issue. Now, both nameplates are back on the recall list, but for a different reason. This isn’t about electronics; it’s a mechanical issue that goes right to the basics of keeping people safe. R

Ford’s PHEVs Under Review Some argue that hybridized powertrains may be less reliable due to the added complexity of components like a high-voltage battery. Reaching a definitive conclusion, however, requires long-term data – especially as newer, more advanced hybrid systems enter the market. Still, recalls such as this one from Ford may draw added scrutiny. The Blue Oval brand is recalling nearly 25,000 Escape and Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid models because certain battery cells could experie

Blinded by the Light Nothing is more annoying than driving at night and encountering cars with blinding headlights. Some Ford Explorer owners, however, may not have control over their headlights after the automaker discovered that certain units equipped with dynamic bending lights could malfunction and glare at other road users. Ford Motor Company has issued a massive recall in the U.S. for over 4.3 million pickup trucks and SUVs over a software error that may cause trailer brakes and exterior lights not to function. The recall covers a variety of models, including 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 F-250 SD, 2024-2026 Ranger and 2022-2026 Maverick pickups, as well as 2022-2026 Expedition and 2022-2026 Lincoln Navigator SUVs. 2026 E-Transit all-electric vans are also part of the recall. Owning a Ford Explorer can be a frustrating experience, and the latest recall illustrates this. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford is recalling certain 2017-2019 Explorer SUVs because their rear suspension toe links may fracture. Some 412,774 vehicles are affected, but what makes this recall particularly irritating for owners is that it concerns a problem that has plagued the SUV in the past. The NHTSA says that this is an expansion of previous NHTSA recall 21V

Three months into 2026, Ford is continuing an unenviable trend from last year: issuing more recalls than any other automaker. As of this writing, the Blue Oval has issued 14 recalls, nearly three times as many as second-placed Toyota and Hyundai, with five each. Its latest concerns 2020-2022 model years, says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, impacting the Ford Explorer and Escape and their Lincoln siblings, the Aviator and Corsair. Some 604,533 vehicles are afflicted with pote

The Ford Escape PHEV was recently recalled for a fire risk, and now the non-electrified Escape faces a recall. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Escape crossovers are being recalled for detaching trim. Something similar happened to the Expedition and F-150, among other vehicles, not long ago. In that case, the issue was related to trim falling away from the moonroof; in this case, the problem lies with the tailgate hinges, whose covers may not have been properly se
