If you are regular around here then you know that we really dig the Southeast Gassers Association. I mean, what’s not to love? Big rpm, big burnouts, wheelstands, gear banging shifts, and heads up racing action make this series something truly special. Lucky for you, our friend Tommy Lee Byrd, aka the Hot Rod Hoarder, was on hand and shooting video because he got some really special stuff. Check out the video and let us know which one of these epic gassers is your favorite! Video Description:

Just one week after the famed Indy 500, the IndyCar Series was back at it for another weekend of racing. This time it was at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, which couldn’t be more different than the Indy 500. As a tight street circuit, the Detroit Grand Prix really keeps drivers on their toes. Unfortunately for some of those drivers, the walls on the streets of Detroit tried real hard to jump out and grab them. The racing was hot and heavy, and certainly fun to watch. I love street circuits, a

When we got the opportunity to work with Pavement Pounder Events last year, we jumped at it because Cole and his crew are great people who were doing great things. So when they announced their Motor City to Wheel Hub Live trip for this year I immediately told them that we wanted to be involved again. Within a day or two, BANGshift contributor extraordinaire, Scott Liggett, said he wanted to go and cover it. I was hoping I’d get to come too, but the scheduling just didn’t work out. Thankfully, we

John Jackson is back at it, this time in Alabama for the Battle in Bama and the OBS Nationals. This was an epic weekend at Talladega Super Speedway, and the trucks that showed up were really something special. Whether you are into late models or classics, minis or fullsize rigs, you will dig something at this show. And if you are like us you are going to dig a bunch of things. Check it out if you like custom cars and trucks! Video Description: Wild Weekend at Battle in Bama 2026: If you’ve ev

This here is the kind of hot rod that gets your attention and makes you think “perfect” as you walk up to it. I’m sure that once you start looking close, someone is going to have something to say about one choice or another, but when it comes to Model A hot rods this bad boy right here is something special. I love a good traditionally styled Model A in general, but the fact that this one is painted a color that we normally don’t see at traditional shows, really turns my crank. I dig this car a

If you are new around there then you might not know that we seriously dig Formula Off-Road racing here at BANGshift.com. This is high flying, loud, and intense racing that involves what look to be impossible hillclimbs, usually on giant courses made from pea gravel or something similar. It’s intense, the cars often end up upside down or rolling over down a hill. They end up rightside up on their own sometimes, but regardless the action is fun and kind of nuts. These drivers do some stuff that I’

Shannon is back at the fab work on the FJ40, with the roof and dash coming along, as well as the pedals and steering in a second video. There is a lot more going on as well, but that’s the fab wwork we’re seeing in this one. There is a lot of fabrication going on in this project, so we hope it inspires you to get out there and start cutting and welding something on your ride this week. Shannon and Jess are moving right along on the FJ40 and things just keep getting better. If you like a Landcru

(Words and Photos by Scott Liggett) We came out to hang with Cole Quinnell and his event Pavement Pounder’s Motor City to Wheel Hub Live about one minute after we got our ’65 Impala SS back together. We all love full boogie race parts and high end components for our projects, but sometimes that stuff can be a bit overkill not only from a performance perspective, but also from the budget standpoint. I mean I’m a huge fan of the Single and Triple Adjustable Ridetech shocks that we’ve been running on projects for years, with their impact forged aluminum Fox shock bodies and all the technology, but I’ve got a couple of cars that the expensive shocks feel a little bit overkill on, even though the

It’s time for more LIVE drag racing, and this time it is from the big money bracket races at Darana Raceway National Trail in Hebron Ohio as they Laris Motorsports Insurance $75,000 To Win race weekend starts now. US 131 has been open for testing the past two days as both the Mid West Drag Racing Series and Radial Outlaws Racing Series prepare to take over the famed US 131 Motorsports Park. Opinions are like belly buttons, meaning everyone’s got one, but that doesn’t mean they are based on facts. It is absolutely insane how many people have opinions on how to use a tool correctly, and how often those people are just wrong. So how do you know whether to believe some of the internet claims about how operating an impact wrench or gun one way vs the other is better or worse? Unless you try them all out, how will you know which ones work and don’t work and which things make your work mo

If you are under the age of 20, you might not recognize this car, but otherwise you’ve probably seen a BMW Isseta before. Made famous again by the lovable and weird Steve Urkel character on Family Matters in the 1990’s, this little car is weird, cute, and fun with a heavy emphasis on the little and weird. With an entire nose that opens up, and a steering wheel that pivots out of the way, it required some practice to climb in and out of comfortably. But they are a car that makes you smile and def

Doing a compression test on an engine is pretty straight forward, and only requires a couple of tools. And only one of those is a “specialty” tool, and you can either rent one from your local auto parts store, or buy them from Amazon and Harbor Freight for as little as $15. You can buy a great kit for between $25 and $50 and unless you are getting a compression AND leakdown tester kit in one, don’t go spending over $100 on a tool set like this. The truth about compression testing is that the num

Several years ago the restoration body parts business went to a whole new place when companies started offering complete bodies for our favorite American classics. 1969 Camaros were one of the first, and over the next few years other Camaros, Mustangs, classic trucks, and more were created and available to the public. There was a huge level of excitement and apprehension when that happened, as folks realized what was possible. Excitement because brand new bodies, that don’t need crash and rust d

We’ve shared plenty of Kevin Tetz videos over the years around here, and I can tell you that Kevin sure knows what he’s talking about. The number of TV and YouTube personalities that have learned how to paint, or how to paint better, from him is pretty impressive. And that doesn’t even count the millions of hot rodders at home who have watched him over the years. So when Kevin puts out a video and says that this three step process will help you create a paint job that is as smooth as glass, you

We’ve talked about California SB 1392 in the past, and are thrilled that despite not making it to a vote in 2025, the bi-partisan group of California law makers who support it are still pushing forward and hoping for big things in 2026. If passed and implemented, the law would allow a larger group of classic vehicles to be issued an exemption from California’s strict emissions testing laws. This would only apply to classic cars that are insured as such. With it becoming increasingly hard to find

It’s time for another Daily Junkyard Crawl with Steve Magnante, and this time it’s another really cool Pontiac. How about a real deal 1987 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350 that has had a few good go fast parts installed over the years? This is a savable machine, and one that is cool because of not only what it is but the history behind it. So who wouldn’t want to save this one? Check it out in Magnante’s video below. It brought back memories as I remember racing several 3rd Gen Firebirds back in th

The Spirit of Autopower Comp Coupe is a pretty radical machine, and a staple in the land speed racing community. This thing is based off a little tiny first generation Honda Civic, but the rest is pure race machine. This thing is stretched and streamlined, and has been stupid fast at El Mirage and on the salt at Bonneville. If you have ever been to either race, you’ve seen the Spirit of Autopower 3. This is a special racing machine with a great history. But what happens when you take a machine l
