  1. A Price Hike, But Not Across the BoardAutomakers typically raise vehicle prices over time, and BMW is no exception. According to a report fromCarsDirect, shoppers considering a BMW in 2026 can expect a price increase of about 1%, translating to roughly $400 to $1,500. However, the Bavarian automaker’s all-electric lineup – as well as a handful of select models – will not be affected by the upcoming price adjustment. The report, which cites a bulletin sent to BMW dealers, notes that the entry-level versions of the 2 Series Gran Coupe, X1, X2, and X3 will receive the smallest price hikes. These models represent some of the smallest and most accessible vehicles in BMW’s lineup, with current starting MSRPs ranging from the low-$40,000 to around the $50,000. BMW Speed Still Isn’t CheapThe BMW M5, which competes directly with rivals like the Mercedes-AMG E63 and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, will receive a $1,400 price bump for both the sedan and Touring (wagon) configurations. Notably, the M5 Touring already received a $2,400 increase earlier this year, meaning the upcoming adjustment will bring its total price increase to $3,800. Meanwhile, the X6 M Competition, a more style-focused performance SUV, is slated to receive a $1,500 price increase. As previously mentioned, BMW’s EV lineup, including the i4, i5, i7, and iX, will retain its current pricing for the 2026 model year. Although the dealer bulletin did not explain the reasoning behind the price hike exemption, it comes amid broader market pressures, including higher tariffs and the discontinuation of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, both of which have made electric vehicles harder to sell. Even Ford, whose F-150 Lightning was once among the best-selling electric pickups in the U.S., has recently reported a significant slowdown in EV demand. BMW Luxury Gets a Free PassBMW is also excluding two of its high-end models from the price increase, namely the 7 Series and the XM plug-in hybrid. The 7 Series currently starts at $99,300 in 740i form, while the XM, a standalone M-branded SUV, commands a starting price of $159,600. In addition, models such as the BMW M2 CS, Alpina XB7, and the outgoing Z4 roadster will also remain unaffected by the pricing changes for next year. For shoppers hoping to avoid upcoming price hikes, now may be a good time to act. Several BMW models are currently being offered with incentives, including special lease deals on the X3, along with an additional $1,000 loyalty credit available to qualified returning BMW lessees. 2. The Elusive V3 EngineV3 engines are about as rare as unicorns, having made only sporadic appearances through motorcycling history. The first known example of such a layout, with two cylinders in one bank of the V and a single on the other, was created by German motorcycle manufacturer DKW in 1955 to power their two-stroke grand prix race bikes. Suzuki dabbled in this configuration in the late ‘60s for a 50cc race bike that never saw the light of day due to regulation changes, after which V3 engines surfaced again only in the ‘80s, powering Honda’s 500cc two-stroke grand prix race machines from 1982 to 1984, as well as 250cc and 400cc road-going two-stroke models up to 1987. The compact V3 engine configuration then faded into obscurity and was replaced in subsequent decades by the extremely popular inline four and V4 layouts. Well, the elusive V3 is now all set to make a 21st-century return. Honda Honda Revives the V3 After Four DecadesAt last year’s EICMA, the annual Milan Motorcycle Show, Honda surprised us all with their latest innovation — a modern 75-degree V3 engine, equipped with forced induction. The engine was presented mounted within a steel trellis frame with an inverted fork up front, single-sided swingarm at the rear, and 17-inch alloy wheels shod with Pirelli tyres, all of which signalled sporty intentions for this platform. This year, the Japanese manufacturer has taken things a step further by presenting the camouflaged V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype, indicating that a production version is closer than we initially thought. What makes this motor special? All previous V3 engines through history have been two-stroke. Honda’s latest creation is a liquid-cooled four-stroke, with a 75-degree angle between cylinder banks and a claimed capacity of 900cc. But what really stands out is the incorporation of forced induction, something rarely seen on motorcycles. While the 1980s saw all the big four Japanese manufacturers create turbocharged bikes, this trend was short-lived, killed off by unpredictable power delivery due to lag, weight, complexity, and cost. The only mainstream forced induction motorcycles in the modern era are Kawasaki’s H2 series of supercharged inline-four machines. Honda is now looking to change this with their V3 creation that casts aside turbocharging and supercharging, and instead takes a novel approach to forced induction — an electronically-controlled compressor mounted atop the forward bank of cylinders feeding the airbox. Why This MattersHonda’s system allows boost pressures to be controlled independently of engine speed or exhaust gas velocity, meaning that the engine can deliver high torque even from low rpm. The ECU can instruct the compressor to spin up and help the engine produce the power being demanded by the rider’s right wrist at a moment’s notice, eliminating the lag associated with turbos and the parasitic losses of a supercharger, while saving a great deal of weight in the process. The whole motor is extremely well packaged and slim, and Honda claims that this compact 900cc three-cylinder motor will make as much power as a conventional naturally-aspirated 1,200cc motor, which we imagine to be in the region of 200 horsepower. The Bottom LineHonda has always been at the forefront of motorcycle engine innovation. They created the howling inline-six-cylinder CBX 1000, the oval-piston 32-valve V4 in the NR500 and NR750, and the highest revving production motorcycle engine ever — the little inline-four in the CBR250RR that screamed to 20,000 rpm. With most manufacturers today focused on building small, economical twins and developing EV technology, it seemed that the days of innovation in the internal combustion space were behind us, but here comes Honda to the rescue with something that the world hasn’t seen before. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next. View the full article
  3. Built for Revs, Still Vulnerable to FailureHigh-performance engines aren’t built like your average commuter motor. They’re engineered to survive high RPM, withstand serious cylinder pressures, and take the kind of punishment that would quickly wear out a regular engine. Lamborghini’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 in the Huracan is a good example: it revs past 8,000 RPM and is known for thriving doing so. That’s why this teardown from I Do Cars on YouTube is interesting to us. The engine came from a 2018 Huracan Performante with less than 20,000 miles. It allegedly failed at about 7,000 RPM – well within its normal range. On paper, that shouldn’t be a problem for a motor built to run hard all day. But the teardown showed just how quickly things can go wrong, even in an engine like this. What the Teardown UncoveredEven before the engine was fully apart, there were red flags. There was visible damage on the outside, metal debris where it shouldn’t be, and at least one spark plug that refused to come out. Pulling the intake made things clearer: one cylinder had lost part of a valve, and the fragments were stuck in the combustion chamber. Digging deeper, the damage wasn’t limited to one area. One cylinder head had battered combustion chambers and clear signs of debris impact. The other side had bent valves stuck open and broken valve guides. Down in the bottom end, things looked even worse: several connecting rods had failed, breaking through the block and taking out the dry-sump oil pump. Despite all that, the bearings looked surprisingly healthy, which points to the engine still having oil pressure when it failed. I Do Cars/YouTube View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article There Are TheoriesUnfortunately, even I Do Cars – which tears down engines for a living – couldn’t land on a single clear cause for the catastrophic failure in this particular Huracan V10. One theory is that a stuck injector caused hydrolock at high RPM, which would explain the broken rods. Another is an over-rev, though that’s less likely with a modern automated gearbox. The valvetrain failure adds another layer, since it doesn’t line up directly with the rod damage. Whatever the cause, we can say that this Huracan V10 didn’t go peacefully. It’s a reminder that even engines built for high-performance applications can fail, and when they do, the results aren’t subtle. Just a reminder that no engine is bulletproof, no matter how well it’s engineered. I Do Cars/YouTube View the 9 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article
  4. Reverse-Importing Hondas to JapanCar imports are now at the center of US-Japan tariff talks, with American officials pointing out that it's easier for foreign brands to sell in the US than for American-built cars to enter Japan. In response, Honda is looking at an unusual move: instead of exporting Japanese cars, the company is considering bringing US-built models back to Japan. For a brand that built its reputation on Japan-only models, this is a significant shift. Honda has already made a habit of bringing in cars from Thailand, China, and India, so imported models are nothing new for Japanese buyers. Adding US-built Hondas would push that strategy further and fit the current trade climate. Honda Honda’s Passport Back HomeAccording to a Nikkei Asia report, Honda is eyeing the US-built Ridgeline and Passport for the Japanese market. Electric vehicles from Acura, Honda’s luxury marque in America, could follow. The idea is to show the US that Honda is willing to help close the trade gap, something President Trump has brought up more than once. Regulations could soon make this process smoother. Japan’s transport ministry is looking at a plan to let US-certified cars be sold in Japan with just paperwork, skipping extra local tests. This comes out of a recent Japan-US tariff deal and could be in place as early as next year. Honda isn’t new to this. The company has already brought over US-made fuel cell cars, though only in small batches. It also imported the Accord Wagon back in the 1990s. Kristen Brown Honda Wouldn’t Be AloneHonda isn’t the only automaker looking into this reverse-import scheme. Toyota and Nissan are also looking at bringing US-built models to Japan, including some that have never been sold there before. Toyota’s chairman, Akio Toyoda, has even pointed out that plenty of American-made Toyotas aren’t available in Japan. Meanwhile, analysts said that the "Made in USA" label could help explain higher prices for these imported Japanese models. Big models like the Toyota Tundra, Nissan Murano, and Nissan Frontier are all on the list, though their size means they’ll likely stay niche choices in Japan. 8. Kryptonite Products, a leader in heavy-duty steering and suspension upgrades for off-road vehicles, announces the release of its all-new High Clearance Radius Rod & Toe Link Kit designed specifically for the 2025+ Kawasaki Teryx H2 platform. Built to handle the unprecedented power and aggressive terrain capabilities of Kawasaki’s supercharged H2 side-by-side, Kryptonite’s radius rods address one of the most common failure points observed in real world riding. The stock radius rods on the H2 have been shown to bend, twist, or fail under hard use, especially on rugged terrain or during high-speed runs. Kryptonite’s solution: overbuilt, aircraft-grade components engineered for riders who demand more from their machine. Precision Machined Strength The new radius rods are crafted from 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum — a material known for exceptional strength and controlled flex — and precision machined in the U.S.A. This upgrade eliminates the common weak points seen with OEM components, offering: High-Clearance Design: Redesigned geometry improves ground clearance in uneven terrain. Solid Aluminum Construction: No hollow tubing, reducing the risk of bending or failure under load. Bolt-On Fitment: Direct replacement with no fabrication or modification required. Chromoly Toe Adjusters: Heat-treated 4140 chromoly toe link adjusters for durability under aggressive driving. In Kryptonite’s lab testing, the billet radius rods demonstrated over twice the strength of factory components — holding up to 14,195 lbs of force compared to just 6,992 lbs for OEM links. Heat-treated toe adjusters are built to handle repeated hard hits and aggressive driving. Designed for the Kawasaki H2 Beast The Kawasaki Teryx H2 represents a major step forward in UTV performance, powered by a 999 cc supercharged inline-four engine producing 250 hp, paired with long-travel suspension and a rigid tubular-steel chassis capable of conquering high-speed desert runs and technical terrain alike. As riders push these machines harder — whether for dunes, desert, trail riding, or competition — steering and suspension components are put under extreme stress. Kryptonite’s radius rods are engineered to match the H2’s performance envelope, allowing owners to ride with confidence and push their rigs to the limit. 9. An Era of CreationThe late 1960s-early 1970s was the era of birth for most of the supercars we look up to today. In that period, the world saw multiple automakers designing the most outrageous and sought-after cars ever seen at the time. While some have stood the test of time, others have vanished, leaving only a trail through the cars they produced. De Tomaso was a brand born from a passion for racing, founded by Argentinian Alejandro De Tomaso. It forged its own path alongside the establishment with desirable machines and has garnered a dedicated fandom that endures to this day. The De Tomaso Pantera has become one of the most valuable vehicles on the classic car market, which is why a recent listing getting attention comes as no surprise. This particular 1973 model is an "L" variant, which stands for "Lusso," the Italian word for luxury. It's also a very low-miler, with just 4,900 miles on it and one owner in California. Bring-A-Trailer The PantherApart from the car's apparent poshness, the L introduced new features that improved the car overall. First was the extended black front bumper, which helped reduce lift at higher speeds and helped the L comply with new road safety regulations in the US at the time. Another change was the reduced compression Ford 351 cubic inch (5.8-liter) Cleveland V8 – a very reliable engine that's easy to maintain – that had reduced power to just 264 hp to meet US emissions standards. The good news is that since De Tomaso and Ford had an ongoing partnership, the Blue Oval was more involved in the building of the Pantera L, which improved build quality compared to previous versions. The car for sale is, as mentioned, a 1973 Pantera L, and is a standout for its orange paint that draws attention to the Ghia-styled body. It also has a dogleg five-speed ZF manual transaxle. It rides on 15-inch Campagnolo cast magnesium wheels, equipped with disc brakes at all four corners. It features pop-up headlights, black bumpers, quad exhaust outlets, a gated shifter, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt stereo. Bring-A-Trailer View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article Historical ValueThis listing is currently live on Bring a Trailer, and the most recent bids have surpassed $100,000 at the time of writing. Historically, it is right on the money for De Tomaso Panteras, with sale prices ranging from $75,000 to $100,000. This one is extra special, being a late-model L variant and a well-maintained low-miler too. Bring-A-Trailer View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

  13. One of the Most Recognizable Cars in the WorldRestomodding a Volkswagen Beetle isn’t exactly a new idea – it’s practically inevitable given this model’s worldwide popularity. The original Type 1 Beetle was built for decades, right up until the last ones rolled off the Mexican assembly line in 2003. With its simple design, unmistakable personality, and the fact that you still see them everywhere, it’s no wonder people keep finding new ways to bring the Beetle into the modern era. That’s where Knepper Bugs & More comes in. This German shop has made a name for itself by taking classic Beetles and giving them everything from gentle makeovers to full-blown transformations. Its latest head-turner is the Knepper 1303 RS-E – a 1975 Beetle that, at first glance, could pass for a well-kept original. But underneath, it’s a different story. This one runs a modern electric setup, with major parts borrowed from both a Porsche Taycan and a Tesla Model S. It’s a mix you don’t see every day. Knepper Bugs & More Electric Power, Porsche BonesThe Knepper 1303 RS-E started out as a California-market Beetle, found in 2016 and sent back to Germany for a total overhaul. The old air-cooled engine is long gone. In its place? A Tesla Model S Performance motor, good for up to 638 horsepower and 497 lb-ft of torque – though real-world numbers are closer to 596 horsepower and 518 lb-ft. Power comes from a 48-kWh battery pack built from Porsche Taycan modules, which should be enough for about 155 miles of range. The upgrades don’t stop at the powertrain. Underneath, the suspension and brakes borrow a lot from the Porsche 944, including Turbo S brakes, aluminum trailing arms, adjustable coilovers up front, and beefier stabilizer bars. Even with all that, the outside keeps things low-key. Finished in Marathon Blue Metallic, the Beetle gets slightly wider carbon rear fenders, a carbon rear spoiler, and classic wheels that do a good job of hiding just how much performance is lurking underneath. Knepper Bugs & More Mix of Old and New InsideYou’ll find a mix of old and new inside the 1303 RS-E. There are leather-trimmed Recaro sport seats, a freshly padded dashboard, and classic-style gauges that read up to 137 mph. The original gear lever is gone, replaced by a subtle electronic control interface. It all feels updated, but the Beetle’s original charm is still front and center. As for the price for the whole build, Knepper is keeping that under wraps, which isn’t surprising for a one-off build like this. If you’re interested, you’ll have to reach out to Knepper Bugs & More directly. And if electric power isn’t your thing, the turning firm got options, including a past project with a turbocharged Subaru EJ20 under the hood – or at the back, rather. 15. When Two Axles Aren’t EnoughThe Ford Bronco already checks most boxes for buyers looking for a capable SUV. It has the right mix of tough looks and real off-road gear. For most, that’s plenty. But there’s always a group that wants to push things further. Enter SoFlo Customs – a Florida-based outfitter with a reputation for bold builds. Introduced in 2022, one of its projects stretched the Bronco and added a third axle, turning the SUV into a short-bed pickup. The result is the Apocalypse Dark Horse, a Bronco 6x6 that’s less about practicality and more about standing out. It’s not for everyone, but that’s the idea. SoFlo Customs Extra Axle, Extra PresenceUnder the hood, the Dark Horse uses Ford’s 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, tuned here for a claimed 400 horsepower. Power goes to all six wheels through an automatic transmission, so the extra axle isn’t just for show. According to its initial release, the extra axle required extending the frame, quarter panels, and wheel arches. The company also fitted the SUV with a custom-made hard top, while leaving the rear end uncovered for the bed. The exterior sticks to the apocalypse theme, finished in a tough black coating that’s as much about protection as it is about looks. Up front, there’s a Gobi bumper with built-in LED spotlights, plus KC lights above the windshield for better visibility on the trail. Custom fender liners, steel side steps, and a full-size spare show it’s built for more than just showrooms. The Lawman hood sharpens the profile, and the color-changing Halo headlights add a bit of tech gimmick to the mix. SoFlo Customs It’s Currently Up For SaleInside, the Bronco gets a weatherproof tan finish that’s more about standing up to the elements than luxury. Most of the tech is focused on customization, especially the lighting controls. This one has just over 6,400 miles and a GVWR that technically qualifies it for IRS Section 179 tax deductions, so it counts as a commercial vehicle on paper. SoFlo Customs offers nationwide and worldwide shipping, virtual financing, and even cryptocurrency payments, making the buying process as unconventional as the truck itself. And rightfully so – this Bronco 6x6 truck is currently for sale and priced at $150,000. And, if you want the pipe doors seen in the photos here, they are not included in the mentioned price. 16. Forget Lamborghinis - if you want the wildest, most extreme roadgoing experience possible, you want the Polaris Slingshot, and for 2026, there are five variants of the insane three-wheeler to choose from, including the returning Grand Touring model, with a T-top roof that offers more protection from the elements but also a less extreme look. Based on the range-topping R trim, the limited-edition Grand Touring boasts a ProStar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 204 horsepower, which is mated to your choice of a manual or AutoDrive automatic transmission. Brembo brakes and a vented sport hood are also included, and inside, the GT offers a Rockford Fosgate four-speaker sound system, an interior lighting kit that can be controlled from your smartphone, and custom-stitched heated and ventilated seats with power adjustability. The final flourish is a black and iridescent green metallic paint job, but the rest of the range also offers stunning colors to choose from. And if you're shopping for one of these, those more visceral variants are probably the right choice. New Colors and Wheels for 2026 Polaris Available for the SL, SLR, and R models are three new paint schemes with an iridescent finish. Along with the aforementioned Grand Touring green, the range offers five new colors for 2026. For the SL, White Lightning and Sunburst Orange are on offer. The SL and SLR get access to Blue Rush, and the SLR gets Mirage Gray, while the R model (set apart by black badging) gets the choice of Radiant Gray with Red Indy Pearl or pearlescent White Crystal with Mint Fade. For those who don't want a color-shifting finish, the R can also be had in Midnight Smoke, a matte metallic paint. New wheels are also available for 2026. Both SLR and R models can get five-spoke honeycomb wheels that are said to increase airflow to the brakes, with the option being new to the former trim and a returning choice for the latter. To match the badging of the R model, these wheels come in gloss black. 2026 Pricing Lineup Polaris The base Polaris Slingshot S is available in Slingshot Red and Jet Black with a starting price of $24,999, while the SL is available in White Lightning, Blue Rush, and Sunburst Orange for $28,299. The SLR starts at $31,399 and comes in Blue Rush and Mirage Gray, while the R carries a base MSRP of $34,999. This is available in Midnight Smoke, Radiant Gray with Indy Red Pearl, and White Crystal with Mint Fade. Finally, the Grand Touring only comes in a two-tone Viper Black with Green Venom finish and starts at $41,499. If you want the AutoDrive automatic transmission, it'll cost an extra $1,850 on all but the R and Grand Touring trims, where Polaris wants $2,150 more. The new lineup ships to dealers this month. 17. Sony Honda Mobility will offer digital license plates as an official accessory on the upcoming Afeela 1 electric sedan, making it one of the first production cars to launch with a factory-backed electronic plate option. The system comes via a partnership with Reviver, the company behind the RPlate, and is set to be available when the Afeela 1 reaches early customers in 2026. It is another example of how Sony and Honda are using the car’s connected platform to add services on top of the core EV hardware that is already entering pre-production at Honda’s Ohio operations. Digital Plates as a Connected AccessoryThe Reviver RPlate replaces a conventional metal tag with a monochrome digital display integrated into the rear plate surround. Owners manage registration, renewals and custom text via a connected smartphone app, and the plate hardware includes LTE connectivity, GPS and anti-tamper features. In supported states, drivers can skip physical stickers and some DMV visits, while the connected back end can push special messages such as a “stolen” status if the car is reported missing. For Afeela buyers, the digital plate will be installed and supported through Sony Honda Mobility’s accessory program rather than being a third-party add-on, fitting the broader approach of the new electric sedan. Limited Rollout, High-Tech PositioningReviver plates are only fully approved for private motorists in a handful of U.S. states, so availability will depend on where an Afeela is registered. Even so, Sony Honda Mobility clearly sees value in making the hardware part of the official options list from day one, alongside the sedan’s extensive driver-assistance, infotainment and over-the-air update capabilities. The Afeela 1 itself is pitched as a mid-size electric sedan with dual-motor all-wheel drive and a tech-heavy interior built around large displays and high compute power, raising the question of how it will stack up against established rivals. Sony Honda Mobility Convenience, Customization and Privacy QuestionsFactory-backed digital plates could appeal to early adopters who like the idea of remote registration, theft alerts and customizable displays that can show approved slogans or messages along the bottom of the plate. At the same time, bolting a connected, trackable device to the outside of the car raises familiar concerns about privacy and cybersecurity, especially when it is tied into an app ecosystem and cloud services. Sony Honda Mobility’s decision to offer the RPlate as an accessory on the Afeela 1 puts those questions on the table from launch, and gives buyers one more futuristic touch on an EV that is already trying to distinguish itself as much with software and services as with traditional specs. 18. Where Legends Still Clock InThe Porsche 911 has changed a lot over the years, and the modern version even comes with a hybrid-assisted powertrain. But one thing has stayed the same – every 911 has always been built at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen plant in Germany. Thanks to YouTube's FRAME, we now get a behind-the-scenes look at how this iconic sports car comes to life inside the factory, on a site spanning more than 6.6 million square feet. In 2024, Porsche delivered 50,941 units of the 911, slightly higher than the previous year’s output. The U.S. market, however, saw a far sharper rise, recording more than a 20 percent increase in 911 sales. Its popularity stems from its reputation as a performance benchmark, consistently measured against rivals such as the Mercedes-AMG GT, Nissan GT-R, and Ferrari 296 GTB. Shaping a 911Each 911 starts on Zuffenhausen’s mixed-material production line, where an army of robotic arms manipulates stamped metal panels and structural components to form the timeless coupe silhouette. Conveyors shuttle the body-in-white across various stages, including the anti-corrosion immersion bath. After the dip, soft-brush robots clean the panels to prepare them for paint. Highly controlled spray booths then apply primer, base coat, and clear coat, after which quality-control inspectors examine the finish under high-intensity light tunnels to spot imperfections. Once the painted shell passes inspection, human craftsmanship becomes more prominent. Technicians install interior components, wiring harnesses, seats, windows, lighting elements, and structural pieces. They also carry out the “marriage” process, where the powertrain is joined to the body. FRAME on YouTube Under the Hood, Things Get SeriousPorsche offers several engine options, starting with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six in the base Carrera. The Carrera S increases output to 473 horsepower, while the new T-Hybrid system pairs a 3.6-liter single-turbo flat-six with electric assistance for a combined 532 hp. Higher up the range, the GT3 and GT3 RS use a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, with the RS adding an F1-style DRS wing. The previous 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six has been replaced in the 992.2 mid-cycle refresh by a new 3.6-liter hybrid-ready engine architecture, which produces 701 hp in the range-topping 911 Turbo S, making it the most powerful 911 ever built. The Zuffenhausen plant also builds the 718 and the all-electric Taycan. It even housed a dedicated production hall for Porsche’s hybrid hypercar, the 918 Spyder. Other models, such as the Panamera and Macan, are assembled at Porsche’s Leipzig facility, while the Cayenne is built at a Volkswagen plant in Slovakia. 19. Hyundai’s N division has gone from left-field upstart to serious hot-hatch and sport compact rival, and now the aftermarket is catching up. UK-based Milltek Sport has launched a full range of performance exhausts for Hyundai’s core N models, with systems for the i20 N, i30 N, Kona N, Elantra N and Veloster N. The line covers road-legal and track-only setups, all developed in-house and at the Nürburgring, and is aimed squarely at owners who want more sound and sharper response without turning their daily driver into a race car. It also lands as Hyundai broadens its enthusiast footprint, from full-electric performance models built on the same platform as those featured in current Ioniq 5 lease deals to increasingly expressive mainstream crossovers. View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article Full-Fat N Models Get Dedicated SystemsMilltek’s catalog is designed specifically for “true” N cars rather than N Line trims, reflecting how serious many owners are about track days and back-road driving. Each system is tailored to the engine and layout of its host model, rather than using a one-size-fits-all design, and buyers can choose between EC-approved street systems and freer-flowing motorsport versions. Depending on the car, there are valved and non-valved options, along with a spread of tailpipe finishes that runs from polished stainless and Cerakote black to titanium and carbon fiber. The company says much of the development work happened at its Nürburgring facility, an approach that mirrors Hyundai’s own habit of proving dynamic ideas in the real world. This is the brand that built the wildly flexible MobED mobility platform, so it is no surprise that N owners are being offered equally engineered upgrades for their exhausts. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article Sound, Performance and The Bigger N PictureMilltek talks more about character than raw numbers, promising improved gas flow, reduced back pressure and crisper throttle response, along with a deeper, more aggressive tone that still works for everyday commuting in the right configuration. For many N drivers, the appeal is refining what is already there, Hyundai’s factory cars are known for their pops and bangs, configurable drive modes and a playful edge that stands out in a class full of polished but sometimes muted rivals. The growing list of upgrades also underlines how fast Hyundai has built a halo around N. On one side, it is pushing rugged looks and lifestyle appeal on models like the new Tucson XRT. On the other, it is preparing a future where EVs with simulated exhaust notes sit alongside turbocharged gasoline N cars with hardware like these Milltek systems. For now, the new exhaust range gives owners of some of Hyundai’s most entertaining combustion models another way to personalize their cars while the brand’s performance story continues to evolve. 20. This beautifully restored Dodge Charger 500 is finished in Dark Bronze Metallic on a perfectly preserved saddle interior, and features original matching numbers for the 426 cubic inch 425 horsepower Hemi V8 engine and A833 4-speed manual transmission. It is equipped with the Dana HD SureGrip limited-slip differential, dual four-barrel carburettors, NASCAR-derived internals, high-flow exhaust, power steering, and power brakes. Mecum View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article A Rare FindBy most accounts, 392 units of the Dodge Charger 500, based on the Charger R/T and modified by Creative Industries for Dodge with the flush grille and rear window that eliminated the recessed flying buttress design for better aerodynamics, were built in 1969. 67 of these were endowed with the Chrysler 426 Hemi V8, and only 27 came with the four-speed manual transmission. This is therefore a very rare example of a car that had a massive cultural impact in its time, and is sure to demand top dollar at auction. Mecum A Sight to BeholdThe body panels you see in these pictures are the ones the car left the factory with in 1969. The gleaming exterior has been professionally repainted in the factory-correct T5 Dark Bronze Metallic shade, with that unmistakable white tail stripe. 21. Modifying a Rolls-Royce could be considered a cardinal sin for some, but Novitec's Spofec division has just proven that it can be done tastefully. Spofec specializes exclusively in modifying the ultra-luxury British brand's creations, and its latest release is for the Ghost Series II, giving Goodwood's smallest sedan a big boost in power and some subtle aesthetic tweaks. Equipped as standard with a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine developing 563 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, the facelifted Ghost is far from slow, but Novitec still decided to massage the power plant to the tune of 696 hp and 739 lb-ft of torque. As a result, the company has shaved half a second from the 0-62 mph sprint (4.8 seconds as standard), though the top speed remains unchanged at 155 mph "to protect the tires." Elegant Aesthetic Upgrades Novitec View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article Along with an optional Spofec stainless steel exhaust with active butterfly valves to give the massive V12 more presence, Novitec also offers "OEM quality" aerodynamic enhancements, starting with a whole new front fascia with larger air intakes and vertical LED running lights. Novitec claims that this reduces front axle lift at high speeds, while the trunk lid spoiler balances the slightly more aggressive look. The rear fascia is also new and can be had with or without cutouts for the exhaust tips, and Spofec rocker panels complete the transformation. They also make the car look a little lower, but those who want a physically lower stance can also opt for a suspension kit that drops the car by around 35 millimeters all around. Related: Lamborghini Urus SE Transformed by Dramatic 800-HP Widebody Kit Filling the arches are a set of 22-inch Spofec SP4 forged alloy wheels developed in collaboration with Vossen. These measure 9.5 inches wide at the front and 10.5 inches wide at the rear and are wrapped in 255/35 and 285/30 tires, respectively. For those who haven't depleted their trust funds just yet, the tuner also offers interior upgrades, though it doesn't say what these are. Novitec Has Form Modifying Rolls-Royces Novitec This isn't the first Rolls upgraded by Novitec's Spofec division. Back in August, the German tuner known for its work on Ferraris of various descriptions turned its attention to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan with a widebody kit and similar performance enhancements, and last month, it added carbon fiber body panels and custom Vossen wheels to the all-electric Spectre. With this Ghost Series II, Spofec seems to have found a groove for its builds that is far from offensive, though the black paint admittedly helps these tuned Rolls-Royces look sleeker than they otherwise might. As for pricing, if you have to ask, you can't afford it. View the full article

  23. More Wagons, PleaseIn many ways, it's our fault that wagons fell out of favor. We mostly abandoned them in the 2000s, and the very few that remained at that time weren't snatched up by many. Automakers gave us many chances to buy them, but the majority of the buying public had their eyes (and wallets) glued to SUVs. Heck, even minivans, the first cars that triggered the decline of wagons in America, are also being left in the dust by crossovers. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. The performance wagon genre has been welcomed with open arms in North America, reigniting interest in wagons in general. Perhaps that's because we finally have what we've been longing for, as well as the fact that we're finally getting the good stuff from abroad. Sure, it's a niche, but it's a niche that's been doing well for itself. And Here Comes GenesisGenesis is still on a high after debuting its Magma performance division. It included a hot GV60, the Magma GT Concept mid-engined sports car, an M5-rivalling G80, and the G90 Wingback. It was, in our words, a full-size wagon no one saw coming, and there have been hints that it might actually reach production. But the tease didn't stop there. More recently, Genesis published more photos of its concept wagon, and they're glorious, indeed. They even threw in a pair of pictures of the interior, something that wasn't shown during its world premiere a few weeks ago. Promising SignsApart from the photo set, Genesis made more hints that they're serious about bringing the G90 Wingback into showrooms. One particular quote in a press release from Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke caught our attention. "At the moment there is, let’s say, a multiplication of SUVs. And this fast growth will create a saturation. This is when other typologies of cars are going to become attractive again. This is why I strongly believe in not having a typology monoculture," said Donckerwolke. Did he just indirectly say he's tired of all the crossovers and SUVs out there? There's more, too. The press release says, "The G90 Wingback Concept is more than a showpiece. It is the embodiment of a decade’s worth of innovation, accelerating into the next chapter of Genesis’ journey." And just to keep everyone's hopes up, Donckerwolke told Jalopnik that the wagon will be "relatively easy" to produce, as it practically has the same dimensions as the G90 sedan. 25. Not Your Average Hot HatchThis hot hatch may look like a Toyota GR Corolla at first glance, but there’s far more going on under the skin. John Proulx (@1lowrx on Instagram) owns this 2009 Subaru WRX STI, and it hides a power unit almost no one would expect: a 1GZ-FE V12 from a second-generation Toyota Century. That engine alone would be outrageous in an STI. Still, Proulx pushed things even further by adding a pair of G30-770 turbos, bringing output to a claimed 1,000 horsepower – roughly 700 hp more than the stock Century, a car originally built for quiet chauffeur duties before its ultra-luxury ambitions, not big-boost mayhem. To withstand the extra power, the V12 was fitted with upgraded internals, including forged rods, pistons, and valve springs. The Drivetrain Plot TwistThe changes didn’t stop at the engine bay, which used to house an EJ flat-four engine. The twin-turbo V12 is paired with a BMW dual-clutch transmission (DCT) sourced from a 2009 335i, connected using a custom-built adapter plate. The build also features a custom intercooler, oil cooler, intake manifold, and exhaust system, all of which help support the substantial performance increase. Subaru’s signature all-wheel-drive system is long gone. In its place is a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) conversion using a custom driveshaft and a Ford 8.8-inch rear end, the same differential family found in Mustangs and F-150s. Power goes to Weld Racing S71 wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson drag radials, with the chassis riding on Cygnus Performance coilovers. And despite adding eight extra cylinders, two turbos, and a completely different drivetrain, Proulx says the car’s weight distribution remains close to stock. Corner-weight readings show it still sits around 59/41 (front/rear), likely achieved through careful component relocation and the additional rear mass provided by the custom axle setup. 1lowrx on Instagram Modding Without RestraintWith Subaru suggesting that any future STI halo model is likely to be fully electric, builds like this offer an interesting contrast for enthusiasts. The brand did preview both gasoline and EV concepts at this year’s Japan Mobility Show, suggesting it hasn’t finalized its direction yet. Regardless of what the future holds, projects like Proulx’s V12-swapped STI show that interest in traditional gas-powered performance remains strong. The owner also has other cars in his household, including a twin-turbo Coyote V8-swapped Forester with a Mustang badge and, fittingly, a Toyota GR Corolla – the very car this STI could be mistaken for.
