Yet Another Blow for Tesla’s FSD Dreams Elon Musk, billionaire entrepreneur and someone with questionable adherence to timelines, has constantly touted how revolutionary Tesla’s self-driving technology is. Apparently, it was the next best thing since sliced bread, but unfortunately, things are looking bleak, at least if you’re the CEO who thought it could be monetized in more ways than one.

Tesla just quietly filed plans to commit over $25 billion in capital expenditures this year, but the massive corpus isn't meant for new passenger vehicle platforms. Instead, the automaker is focusing entirely on custom silicon, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Representing triple the capital they spent in 2025, this staggering financial pivot signals an expensive, calculated transition away from merely building cars and toward setting up factory production lines to support AI infrastructur

Tesla’s first Cybercab has officially rolled off the production line in Texas, a milestone that Elon Musk shared enthusiastically on social media platform X. A two-passenger, self-driving electric vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals, the Cybercab is a marked step up from the company’s robotaxi fleet. The Model Y robotaxi still requires a human “safety monitor” in most cases, but the Cybercab has no means of it being driven manually at all—and that’s why major questions remain, as Tesla’s cu

The Wait Just Got Longer Tesla’s introduction of a more affordable Cybertruck variant appears to have paid off, as the all-electric pickup has reportedly seen strong demand just over a week after its launch. The estimated delivery timeline was initially pushed back to late 2026, then revised again to April 2027. As of this writing, the customer-facing website is only showing “2027.” However, as previously suggested by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the introductory pricing may have been available for only

Tesla’s Inventory Problem Is Real Tesla is facing an uncomfortable reality. In the first quarter of 2026, the automaker produced over 50,000 more vehicles than it sold, marking the largest production-to-delivery gap in its history. According to figures cited by USA TODAY, Tesla built 408,386 vehicles but delivered only 358,023 units. That surplus now sits in lots and storage facilities, a stark contrast to the brand’s once razor-sharp inventory control. This imbalance comes at a time when Tesla

California Pressure Explains the Move California is the biggest market for electrified vehicles in the US, which naturally makes it Tesla’s biggest battleground. That’s why dropping Autopilot from new cars last month wasn’t just a technical update – it was a move to stay in the game. For years, Autopilot included both Traffic-Aware Cruise Control and Autosteer as standard. Suddenly, new Teslas shipped with just TACC, and if you wanted Autosteer, you had to pay for Full Self-Driving. The move was

Opening the Door to Entry-Level Leasing Tesla has expanded its leasing program to include the cheapest Model 3 and Model Y trims. These lower-cost Standard variants were reintroduced in October last year as the automaker responded to softer demand following the expiration of U.S. EV incentives. In theory, adding leasing should help broaden access to its most affordable EVs. However, according to a report from CarsDirect, the newly launched lease offers are “surprisingly bad” when examined more c

Tesla opened its long-hyped diner in Los Angeles in July 2025. It was meant to showcase a new vision for EV charging. Rather than a basic restaurant attached to a Supercharger station, it was pitched as a retro-futuristic destination blending Americana, EV culture, and Elon Musk’s flair for spectacle – finally, you'd look forward to charging your Model Y. Six months later, that promise feels largely unfulfilled. The crowds have disappeared, the novelty has worn off, and what was framed as a bold

From Hard to Smooth Braking If you’ve ever ridden in a car with a new driver, you’ll know that he or she might still be getting their footing on the pedals of a car. Braking smoothly is a skill that you pick up over the years through experience and feel, but with today’s tech, that skill may go by the wayside in favor of software-assisted braking. Tesla is rolling out a new feature for its Model Y in Software Update 2026.8, including a new “Comfort Braking” mode. For now, it’s exclusive to the

Tesla has announced a slew of useful and entertaining upgrades as part of a holiday software update. While some are purely for entertainment purposes, such as the festive Santa Mode, others enhance the navigation and charging experience for Tesla owners. Fortunately, it appears there’s nothing as controversial as Tesla’s latest FSD update, which allows users to text and drive—obviously, this is illegal. Here’s a look at the very legal, very cool new features that’ll soon be accessible in your Te

Another Piece To The Puzzle Earlier this year, Tesla quietly updated the Roadster’s wordmark with a trademark filing. Now there’s another one, this time showing what looks like the new emblem. Shared by Sawyer Merritt on X, it hints at how Tesla wants the long-awaited Roadster to stand apart from the rest of its lineup. Filed just last month, the application covers more than the car. Tesla’s stylized 'ROADSTER' mark applies to EVs, charging gear, apparel, and even vehicle services. The applicati

Software Still Defines the Tesla Ownership Experience Tesla was the brand that made over-the-air software updates a real part of owning a car. Other automakers might push out more frequent patches these days, but Tesla’s updates still stand out for actually changing how the car feels to use every day. In line with that, the Spring Update 2026 is one of Tesla’s most packed seasonal releases so far, rolling out a dozen meaningful changes in one go. Holiday updates usually bring in new frameworks,

Changing It Up a Bit With a stagnant home market, Tesla is looking to capitalize on selling abroad. In fact, in some regions, the brand is quickly gaining momentum in sales. Different market conditions also dictate demands, and in places like China, length and space are a big deal. We've seen the Tesla Model Y L in China, which offers an option for six seats, unlike the standard two-row seating that the rest of the world is used to. It seems that this country-specific unit is headed elsewhere.

Tesla is testing a new feature at five busy Supercharger locations across California and New York, and it might be the most quietly brilliant thing the company has done for the charging experience in years. Anyone who has pulled into a crowded public charger on a holiday weekend knows the misery of peak charging congestion. You circle the lot looking for a free charger, someone else is doing the same, and nobody really knows who was there first. The new waitlist feature should fix that, and the

The Tesla Roadster has been coming "soon" for so long that when Elon Musk announced an April 1st reveal date, the internet couldn't decide if it was a joke or not. Given the car was first unveiled way back in 2017 with a price tag sitting around $200,000 and promises that have been delayed ever since, skepticism is fair. But a patent quietly published recently, discovered by a patent analyst on X, suggests things might actually be moving. And what it describes is genuinely unlike anything Tesla,

This video couldn’t be more timely, as I had to put together a bed frame, four bar stools, and some lights in the last couple of days. All three used allen, or hex key, fasteners. Of course the hex keys in my Kobalt 1/4 inch drive ratchet set were SAE and all these things had “metric” fasteners, but I made it work. The trick was to use the ratchet and hex key socket to get them snug and then give them a bit more with the hex key that came in the box with the fasteners. In theory that should help

Testing The Largest Pistol Impact Guns On The Market: So How Much Power Do These Beasts Really Make?
Most of us only have a 1/2 inch impact in our toolbox. Whether it is air operated or cordless, that’s still about all we need for most hot rod and racing jobs. And even those things are overkill sometimes in the impact wrench battles that we see nowadays between all these manufacturers. But what about those for big jobs like big trucks and heavy equipment? I watch some YouTube channels that use 3/4 impacts all the time and when needed will pull out the big guns with a 1 incher. On only one occa- 0 comments

The Chaos Series has been going hot and heavy so far this season, and with lots more racing left there are a lot of teams out there battling it out for points. And the competition is getting tougher, so that means race teams need to be out testing to make sure they have the right tuneups to make it through the end of the season. Will this weekend be the break some teams need? Time will tell, but our friend NC Promoder was on hand to share the testing action going on yesterday and the video is be

Drivers in the state of Texas can no longer assume they know the roads well enough to stick with the speeds they've always done, as new variable speed limits are rolling out across the state. Digital speed limit signs are being installed to change the legal limit on certain roads after a deadly February 2021 crash, originally attributed to icy roads, raised safety concerns. A multi-car pileup took place on I-35W during an intense winter storm, and temperatures had fallen below freezing for over

Noise Complaints No matter how much we adore and enjoy a properly loud engine, the fact is that not everyone does. In certain cases, automotive brands have installed new software that allows the owner to mute the exhaust during startup to avoid bothering neighbors. However, in public spaces, this is generally a free-for-all, as long as the owner of the car isn't deliberately being noisy, most people ignore it. An incident has just gone viral where one woman couldn't contain her disdain for the n

A Night That Ended in Sirens A report from ABC13 says several drivers were arrested for street racing on Houston’s South Loop. Under a 2023 Texas law, vehicles involved can be impounded immediately and, in some cases, permanently seized. According to Taylor Vanegas, chief prosecutor of the Vehicular Crimes Unit at the Montgomery County DA’s Office, social media has encouraged some drivers to engage in acts like street racing for attention and clicks. The numbers appear to back that up: Montgomer

Mazda's EV Portfolio While Mazda insists that it will keep the internal combustion engine alive for as long as possible, it has had to dip its toes in the electric vehicle arena to keep up with the times. Currently, its full electric vehicles are based on Chinese models from Changan, some of which are making their way to other parts of the world. The first fruit of that collaboration was the EZ-6. Also known as the 6e outside of China, it's a midsize, rear-wheel-drive sedan available in either E

Toyota's Worst-Kept Secret Even before Toyota officially announced it was bringing back the Celica about two years ago, it was probably the worst-kept secret around. There were easter eggs in Toyota's anime, and Akio Toyoda kept saying he wants to revive 'the three brothers.' That's the Supra, Celica, and MR2, by the way. At some point, Toyota tapped into the expertise of four-time World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen. He's relevant to this story because he won the title in 1993. The company wasn

Perfect Timing for Holiday Travel Americans heading out for Thanksgiving celebrations found a welcome surprise at the pump this year. The national average price for regular gasoline dropped to just over $3 per gallon as the holiday weekend began, matching prices from this time last year. According to AAA, more than 73 million people are expected to drive at least 50 miles from home during the holiday period. The convergence of several factors created this favorable pricing environment. Refinerie

The Need for Speed Takes a New Turn Need for Speed should sound pretty familiar to readers of this website; some might remember the BMW M3 GTR from the video gameNeed for Speed: Most Wanted, while others may think of the 2014 film Need for Speed, which featured the S197 Ford Mustang with twin blue stripes. Now, the NFS name is making a return, though this time, it has nothing to do with street racing. U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced the Need for Speed Act, a new bill aimed at improvin
