If you've used an OBDII device to make your car or truck more powerful by circumventing its emissions devices, you may soon be in big trouble. The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has subpoenaed Apple and Google, ordering them to provide information on at least 100,000 users of the EZ Lynk Auto Agent app, reports Forbes. While this is intended as a means of ensuring there are consequences for those who break the law, albeit now only a civil violation rather than a criminal one, the DOJ'

The "Wrong" Oil A class action lawsuit was served to Valvoline after its Instant Oil Change facility filled a 2025 Kia Sorento with oil that did not meet the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. According to the suit, the vehicle manufacturer's oil specification for the Sorento is 0W-30. Despite that, the Valvoline Instant Oil Change Facility used 5W-30 for the service. The Indiana plaintiff, Robert Campbell, claims that because Valvoline used a different grade of oil during his service, this

Group C race cars are some of the coolest road racing machines, so when I saw this video pop up of the Sauber Mercedes C11 that Michael Schumacher used to drive, I had to watch. When I then saw that there was also onboard video from Spa in the rain, I knew I had to check that one out too. You’ll dig this in car footage that’s for sure, so check out both videos below. Video Description: Racing the Ex Michael Schumacher Sauber-Mercedes C11 against other Group-C Legends. Full WET Lap: • Onbo

A couple of weeks ago we shared the video of Derek picking up this machine and getting it ready to drive 850 miles home. Seemed like a pretty stout trip in an unknown RV, but that was nothing when compared to the 3,000 miles planned for this trip here. I mean this is 7 states of fun, which means this bad boy needs to be ready to drive, camp, cook, and more. Will this vintage big block powered RV make it around the country? I don’t see why not! Many just like it drove millions of combined miles

This thing is cool! Well it looks cool anyway, even though I’m not a big fan of the 6.2 liter diesel under the hood. And before all you 6.2 and 6.5 fans start bitching, know that I grew up with a 6.2 liter diesel swapped squarebody Suburban, and I own another 6.2l powered squarebody Suburban right now. Can they be reliable? Sure. Do they make big power? No. Do they get great mileage? Not really. Can you count on them actually staying reliable? Ehh, that kind of depends on how they have been trea

This rollback has had an interesting life, and after a fire and some other drama, this one has got a new to it engine and transmission. The fire wasn’t on this truck. The fire was on the truck that donated the engine and trans. And to make matters even better, Derek traded the labor to do the swap on this thing for the old engine and trans that was in it. There is a whole story behind it, and we’ll let Derek tell you all about it. Check it out. Video Description: This Chevrolet squarebody has

Just because the parts are available doesn’t mean that doing an interior restoration on your favorite project is going to be cheap. With lots of options, from “custom” bolt in replacement options to factory replacements, there are a jillion price points to navigate when getting parts for your ride. And then there is the labor. Regardless of how cheap the parts are, paying someone to rehab your interior will cost a pretty penny. But what if you do it yourself? Can you save real money and actually

My dad worked for Cadillac for years when I was a kid growing up, and he grew up in a Cadillac family. We’ve had Cadillacs in the family since the 50’s, so I do have a special place in my heart for them. And the Allanté was one of those Cadillacs that, while not very successful, helped shape the future to become the Cadillac that we know and love today. The Allanté paved the way for the XLR which paved the way for the CTS-V and that paved the way for the entire V series and Blackwings. It’s an e

We’ve featured several Ironworks Speed and Kustom built cars here at BANGshift over the last couple of years, and with good reason. Roger and the crew at Ironworks Speed and Kustom have been building cars in Bakersfield California for decades, and we’ve seen all kinds of rides roll out of this place over the years. Street rods, hot rods, muscle cars, classics, and even some VWs. They’ve done their fair share of trucks as well, with almost everything done in house. Roger is pretty particular on

John Jackson from Not Stock Photography was back at Lone Star Throwdown 2026 and has already put out his video! This show was awesome, as always, and although I got there a bit early it sure filled out and was packed in the afternoon. This show is one of the best truck shows in the country, make no mistake, and for sure is the biggest and baddest show in Texas. They sell out of entries for this event each and every year, and we understand why when the weather is great and the trucks are everywhe

Only 2 of 50 Ever Made Back in 2008, Hurst celebrated its 50th anniversary by teaming up with longtime and frequent collaborator Dodge to build a limited run of special 2008 Vipers. Dubbed the, er, Viper Hurst 50th Anniversary Edition, only 50 were ever made, and two of them will be up for sale at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. But what makes this sale particularly special is the VIN of these two cars. What you're looking at here are the first two cars made in the series. Oh

Slow Charging Nightmare One of the biggest pain points customers have when buying into the EV lifestyle is the battery charging time. With EV adoption still somewhat limited, automakers have been working to address this by offering more EVs that can charge quickly. One brand, though, seems to have dropped the ball in this regard – VinFast has been slapped with a class action lawsuit relating to charging times of the VF 8 EV.

VinFast Needs All the Help VinFast's first steps in America have been pretty shaky. There have been teething problems with the cars, and sales collapsed dramatically last year. Still, the Vietnamese automaker isn't giving up, but it needs all the help it can get to stay relevant. With that, the company is ramping up tech development, particularly in the field of autonomous mobility. VinFast has saddled up with AI firm AutoBrains to get things started. The two will be collaborating on several pro

Aiming High VinFast remains somewhat of an enigma despite being in the industry for quite some time now. The Vietnamese EV carmaker started off with intent by entering the U.S. market as early as 2017-2018, when EVs were just about to take off. It was a huge gamble for an unknown brand to enter a huge market. Now, in 2026, we can say that the gamble did and didn't work; it worked in the sense that VinFast remains a major EV player the world over, but it hasn't carved out a decent enough followin

VinFast: A (Very) Condensed History One can say that VinFast can trace its origins, of all things, to the food industry. More specifically, the VinGroup empire was built on instant noodles. Its founder, Phạm Nhật Vượng, then expanded into real estate, and VinGroup today has subsidiaries in hospitality, healthcare, and, yes, cars. A bit of an odd origin story, but here we are today. VinFast broke ground in 2017, and its first models were reskinned versions of the F10 BMW 5 Series and F15 BMW X5.

Growing up in a Camaro family with two first gen Camaros, a 1968 and 1969 respectively, means I’ve got some opinions on stuff you should and shouldn’t do to a Camaro. For example, is a front bumper on a ’67 or ’68 okay to remove? I hate the look, but many people dig it. One factory part that has become fair game regardless of what year your first gen is, has to be the Cowl Induction hood. They fit on a ’67, ’68, and ’69 even if they only came factory on a ’69. In the 2nd gen world the rear spoil

IMSA has had some of the coolest race cars on the planet over their decades of racing, with GTP and GTP Lights being some of their coolest. Old school monster trucks were great! With real bodies, and full frames, they were a far cry from the tube chassis and fiberglass bodies that are on them today. And what they did back then at shows was considerably different than today. Drag races, hillclimbs and car crushing, plus combo events. The action isn’t as high speed or high flying, but OG monster trucks are cool as hell. Which one in the video is your favorite? Video Description: Get ready for monster truck action from Cleves, Ohio

Anyone who’s been hanging out around BANGshift for very long knows I have an affinity for old rv trailers and motorhomes. When I was a kid we had a Roll-a-Long motorhome that was a square body Chevy cab and chassis model like this Open Road, so I have a special place in my heart for these. This one here is a really clean example that has had some love recently, that’s for sure. Going Too Far for Content Social media content creators The Middle Lane ignited controversy at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show when they released video footage of them mocking the all-electric Jeep Recon and its $65,000 price tag. The two individuals in the video called attention to what they claimed was shoddy build quality in the cabin, highlighting uneven panel gaps and loosely-fitted components. They aggressively shook the infotainment screen and passenger grab handle, and even appeared to de

Viva Las Vegas is one of THE premier rockabilly car shows and get togethers in the country. Taking over the Orleans Hotel and Casino every April, this show is in its 30th year! When I still lived in Southern California I would drive up for this show every year to make sure we had awesome photo coverage for all of you to check out, but now that I live in Texas I miss this one every year. Thanks to Ghouls ‘n Gasoline on YouTube we’ve got a great highlight video from the show this year. And it was

Minimalist Manufacturers have slowly adopted the idea of removing as many interior buttons as possible. They think these buttons represent clutter and, as such, are trying to integrate all features and settings into the touchscreen or infotainment screen. Such settings that have been removed are vital to driving and ergonomics. Push start buttons, airconditioning settings, and many more are now being buried into screens. While this does allow a cleaner-looking interior design, there are some ins

Volkswagen’s 2027 Lineup Starts Taking Shape Volkswagen’s plans for 2027 bring a lot of movement across the lineup. Some changes are minor – think extra standard features or tweaks to trim levels – but others go much deeper. The headline is the all-new, second-generation Atlas. It gets a fresh look, a reworked cabin, more standard kit, and a stronger version of VW’s turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. The 2027 Atlas puts out 282 horsepower from the latest evo5 EA888 engine, making it the most powerfu
