Power Hungry Admit it or not, the American market is spoiled when it comes to horsepower. Case in point, the U.S. never gets the true base engine. Also, most of the world is content with about 200 hp (depending on the kind of car), but America is the land of big SUVs that can hit 60 mph in the six-second range... and still consider it just right. We've seen enough reviews that say 0-60 mph in seven seconds is slow. Truth be told, most folks outside the U.S. are content with anything that does th

Wondering what BMW has in store for the upcoming model year? So did we, until the brand accidentally leaked the names of its 2027 arrivals, from 2 Series coupe to 7 Series luxury limo. First noted by Motor1, the German automaker's portfolio was divulged through the BMW USA online shop, and the big news is that the long-rumored all-wheel-drive M2, or M2 xDrive, is coming soon. BMW has said that the Competition badge is being done away with, but even without it, the M2 xDrive will almost certainly

It’s time for some more tool testing and this time it is one of my favorite cordless tools, even though it took forever for me to start using one. I, like many of you out there, seem to reach for hand tools when a cordless or air tool is available to do the job quicker. It means things take more time and effort to do, so using the power tool is the smart way to go. Those folks who work on cars everyday know that these tools make you money if you can get a job done quicker, and of course all car

Old school monster trucks were great! With real bodies, and full frames, they were a far cry from the tube chassis and fiberglass bodies that are on them today. And what they did back then at shows was considerably different than today. Drag races, hillclimbs and car crushing, plus combo events. The action isn’t as high speed or high flying, but OG monster trucks are cool as hell. Which one in the video is your favorite? Video Description: Get ready for monster truck action from Cleves, Ohio

Unless you recently bought a new air compessor, you are probably like most of us and own at least one that is old. It might still work perfectly fine, but unless you have a super fancy setup you probably don’t have some of the higher end features like a dryer, muffler, and more. And it is all DIY so you can do the same thing on your own compressor at home. And to be fair, you don’t need an old compressor for these mods either. If you have a newer compressor that just doesn’t have these features,

The Death of Sub-$20,000 Cars in America If you take a look at any buyer's guide, you won't find a brand-new car under $20,000 anymore. The last car that fit the bill was the Nissan Versa, and that's been axed in the U.S. The new model has started production in Mexico, but there's no chance of it crossing the border. Subcompact crossovers effectively put an end to that market. Because of that, America doesn't get cars like the new Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, or Nissan Aura — subcompact econoboxes t

The past few months have brought announcements from various automakers, most notably GM, that third-party infotainment platforms CarPlay and Android Auto will no longer be supported. The reason given is that these various automakers have decided to build their own in-car systems, which people at those companies feel are better than what Apple or Google can provide for drivers and passengers. This claim does not support the experience most (all?) drivers have had. CarPlay and Android Auto support

Honda Tops EPA Fuel Economy Rankings as Hybrid Demand Surges The latest report from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has officially named Honda the most fuel-efficient full-line automaker in America, posting a fleet average of 31.0 mpg for the 2024 model year. That figure places Honda 3.8 mpg ahead of the industry average among brands offering both internal combustion and electrified vehicles, reinforcing a fuel-efficiency leadership streak that stretches back nearly five decades. The ti

Part of the reason that the BMW i8 was not a hugely popular car is that it featured a B38 three-cylinder engine. Another element is that it was a plug-in hybrid supercar, and many were not ready to adopt the technology a decade ago, but Trevor Elan from Bimmer Network is fixing both those problems. He's ripping out the entire powertrain, including the electrified bits, and replacing them with a tuned B58 straight-six. It's not really sacrilege, since BMW considered bigger engines for the i8, too

The G90 BMW M5 and G91 M5 Touring debuted in 2024, and that means 2027 is the right time for BMW to introduce a Life Cycle Impulse facelift. And according to new spy shots from the Autoblog photographers, changes will be happening inside and out as BMW brings the M5 in line with the Neue Klasse family. Since America is not subject to Euro 7 emissions regulations, we expect the S68 V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain to produce the same 717-horsepower combined figure without the electric side taking on

Going Local While a global economy is a good thing, it does affect the local industry. One of the main talking points of the Trump administration has been to "Make America Great Again," part of this is to revive the once thriving manufacturing sector of the country. The stance has always been to bring in more industry, create more manufacturing jobs for more Americans, and reduce outsourcing. Foreign workers have always been a part of the nation's fabric, seeking the American dream, but some Ame

Kia has finally announced pricing for the 2027 Telluride Hybrid. The first-ever hybrid version of the three-row crossover, it arrives at an important time when hybrid sales are soaring across the industry. Available in six different variants, the Telluride Hybrid starts at $46,490, making it $7,300 more expensive than the non-hybrid version of the SUV. It’s also over $2,000 pricier than the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid, which has the same powertrain. But is the Telluride Hybrid worth it? Let’s dig in

Copart is a magical place where you can potentially pick up a seriously good value salvage title car, providing you’re a handy wrencher and have a bit of time to spare to get it back to the way it should look. You can find pretty much anything on there, from ultra-basic subcompacts to genuine exotics, but even then, it was a little surprising to see one of just 149 McLaren Elvas (the initial 399-unit run was slashed to 249 and ultimately to 149) ever built up for auction in lightly crash-damaged

The Polaris Slingshot is unlike anything else on the planet, offering an extreme motoring experience on just three wheels. But if the 'regular' vehicle (a relative term in a three-wheeler, particularly one this brutally sharp and aggressively accelerating) is somehow not special enough for you, you now have more options than ever. Late last year, Polaris revived the Grand Touring model, and now it's introducing the limited-production Slingshot Signature Edition. With a powerful audio system and

There are many bad things that can trigger anxiety behind the wheel, such as bad traffic, dangerous weather, the fear of other cars crashing into you, the fear of losing control, and much more. However, to many drivers, these things are nothing compared to falling into a sinkhole. Getting swallowed up by a sinkhole is the stuff of nightmares and among the scariest things that can happen while you're driving, and two drivers from Omaha, Nebraska experienced that first-hand on Tuesday afternoon. The Santa Cruz is pretty much the only Hyundai that is unpopular, selling just over 32,000 units last year versus the Ford Maverick's 155,000, but the Korean automaker's next attempt at luring Ford and Toyota pickup buyers to its dealerships will have several differences. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a couple of years to see exactly how the new midsize pickup will differ, reports Australia's CarExpert, but the good news is that we already have several clues. We'll discuss those momentarily,

Despite a dizzying number of recalls over the last few years, Ford is confident that its quality-improvement strategy will reap positive results for buyers. In 2025, Ford CEO Jim Farley said its powertrain durability is now on par with Toyota’s. But the Blue Oval is also working hard to improve all areas of the customer experience, and that now includes the time it takes to have your Ford repaired. Given that Ford dealers complete 35 million repair orders annually, getting them done faster will

The Autoblog spy photographers have again caught Bentley's upcoming Luxury Urban SUV in the wild. That's a placeholder name, with more emotive nomenclature coming to the production vehicle when it debuts, likely early next year. Bentley has confirmed that the vehicle will measure less than 5 meters (16.4 feet) in length so that it can legally be parked on European city streets overnight, but it will still be very similar in size to the existing (combustion-powered) Bentayga SUV. With 800-volt Pr

Ford Motor Company has issued a massive recall in the U.S. for over 4.3 million pickup trucks and SUVs over a software error that may cause trailer brakes and exterior lights not to function. The recall covers a variety of models, including 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 F-250 SD, 2024-2026 Ranger and 2022-2026 Maverick pickups, as well as 2022-2026 Expedition and 2022-2026 Lincoln Navigator SUVs. 2026 E-Transit all-electric vans are also part of the recall. Clearance Sale for the 500-HP Mustang The 2025 Ford Mustang Dark Horse has officially entered clearance territory. The move aligns with Ford’s expanding performance lineup with the announcement of the supercharged 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC. With the higher-output SC variant now positioned at the top of the range, incentives on the naturally aspirated Dark Horse were expected as dealers work through the remaining 2025 inventory. The Dark Horse represents the track-focused evolution of the standa

The Baby Volvo Grows Up When Volvo introduced the EX30 a few years ago, it was uncharted waters for the Swedish automaker. It was its first-ever EV built on a dedicated platform with a little help from its parent company, Geely. It took a while before it arrived stateside, but prior to that, it had already been a commercial and critical success. Riding high on that, the company has decided that now is a good time to roll out the updated version. On the surface, it's a subtle facelift, but the ch

In the ultra-rarefied world of Bugatti automobiles, it doesn't get more exclusive than this new W16 Mistral 'La Perle Rare,' a one-of-a-kind creation crafted by Bugatti's Sur Mesure official customization program.
