I want to start this blog by letting everyone know I have no idea what I'm doing but wanted to share in my experience with taking care of the bodywork on my 1964 Chevy Truck. We have a small bit of land in Davison, MI with a beginner offroad trail that at times requires some technique to get through some tight spots.  I had my wife drive our 97 Chevy 1500 pickup through the trail to see how these new blacklion tires do.  Not too bad but if the mud is thick they cake pretty bad and won't clear out.  So she got stuck So obviously I had to walk up to the house and get the K5 and pull her out which obviously the most difficult part was walking from the back of
The first Full Size Toyota Truck called the T100 but did you know the T100 wasn’t really built by Toyota. Knowing that its own experience manufacturing full-size pickups wasn’t very thorough, Toyota farmed out engineering and manufacturing to Hino, a Toyota subsidiary that’s primarily responsible for commercial vehicles, buses and heavy trucks. When the T100 debuted in 1993, its sole engine was a 3.0-liter V6 that made just 150 horsepower. While power bumped to 190 hp in 1995, Toyota still didn’
The first generation of Toyota trucks The Hilux started production in March 1968 as the RN10 in short-wheelbase form with a 1.5 L inline-four engine, generating a maximum power output of 77 PS (57 kW; 76 hp) in Japanese market specification. In Japan, it was available at the Toyota Japan dealership retail chains called Toyota Store and Toyopet Store. The modification to the engine was enough for a claimed top speed of 130 km/h (81 mph). The 1.5-litre engine was upgraded to a 1.6 L inline-fo
The reason why nobody talks about these things is that they were only available in the U.S. for a handful of years in the 1960s—between 1964 and 1969 according to the Truth About Cars, though Toyota’s website seems to imply that sales stopped in 1967, and I can’t seem to find any U.S.-spec 1968s or 1969s anywhere on the interwebs. The Stout shared its platform with the Toyota Dyna until 1968, when the Dyna was given its own platform, called the Toyota "U". In Japan, it was sold at Toyota Japanes

A common question is "what modifications should I make to my vehicle to make it trail worthy?"  Reading the offroad magazines, you might think gears, lockers, armor and a radical suspension is required.  Below is our take on what it takes to Fool Around offroad.  Note that modifications are listed in order of importance and each level assumes you have done everything in the previous step. Vehicle selection Before doing any modifications, make sure you are starting with a good platform.  M
Basic Equipment Every vehicle should carry these and they should be securely fastened down (like everything else).  You should be able to reach the flashlight and fire extinguisher from your seat.  Factory seat belts do not release if you are upside down (don't ask how we know this). It's the dreaded 7-Way RV plug that we all have come to know and love. Most new vehicles equipped with a tow package have connectors. Trailers with electric brakes need them too. The 7-Way Trailer Plug is a round 2" diameter connector that allows an additional pin for an auxiliary 12-volt power or backup lights. It is usually used for towing a heavy-duty landscaping trailer, car trailer, boat trailer, horse trailer, travel trailer, construction trailer, and larger trailers When referencing

So many choices we have for communicating with everyone in the club/group/adventure. CB Radio is the most old school and cheapest and WAS the most popular radio found in anything offroad. Ham Radio is probably the rarest of radios in the offroad community.  Just way more intense. FRS is the blister packs you get from Walmart, Meijer, Target.. basically in any store you see the two way Family Radios.  About the same distance as CB but more portable.  Typical output is .5 watts but they are allo
