  1. Hendrick Motorsports now has two wins in the 2026 season, and both are courtesy of Chase Elliott. The driver of the No. 9 HMS Chevrolet now has 23 career wins, and his second Texas win in the last three years. He finished just ahead of Denny Hamlin in second and Alex Bowman in third. Tyler Reddick, who was charging with two fresh right-side tires, finished fourth, with Chris Buescher ...Keep readingView the full article

  3. Market ExpansionMansory is a hot take; most people will say the German tuner is responsible for some of the most "ruined" builds and custom jobs in the luxury car aftermarket. One thing you can't take away from it, though, is its growth and expansion, with never-ending new market launches. Recently, it was spotted at the Beijing Auto Show, marking its entry into the Chinese market with a Mansory-dressed Zeekr 9X. Just a few weeks later, the brand is entering new territory in Africa. Fit For A KingMansory is making its debut in the land of mystical kings, and with the only remaining wonder of the world, Egypt. Launched at the First Nile Boat by the Four Seasons Hotel and Casino is a BMW M5 P850 Pharaohs Edition. That's right, Mansory has chosen the new M5 as the base for the first Egyptian-exclusive model, which may not be pyramid-shaped but is controversially as heavy as one (pun intended). It seems Mansory is playing it safe with the release, because the only photos we have access to are a dark car against a dark background, giving us very few clues into what it actually looks like. Looking at the photos more closely, though, we can see that the M5 has been given the true Mansory treatment, with an all-new, striking body kit added, giving it more width and presence. The most visible exterior elements are the vented panels on the bumpers and side skirts. Other mods have also been added to the exterior, including bigger tires and brakes, and what looks to be a suspension-lowering kit. Inside the Pharaoh edition is typical Mansory, with the logo and brand emblem emblazoned everywhere. They did choose a relatively muted blue colorway for the emblems, which doesn't make it much of an eyesore. Mansory Egypt/Instagram View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article More PowerWhile some Mansory works don't feature performance enhancements, this one does. The name P850 is likely a nod to the Pharaoh Editions' new power output. Mansory can bump up power, and they've chosen to give the Pharaoh 850 hp, a 121 hp bump over the standard M5. There is no listing price on the Pharaoh edition M5, but we can assume it won't be cheap. There's no denying now just how expansive Mansory's reach is, and no matter what we think, there are buyers all over the world. 5. Heading to Auction at Lake Como This 2002 Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R CRS by Nismo is part of a collection of five rare GT-Rs headed to auction. Organized by Broad Arrows and powered by Hagerty, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction event will see this GT-R and four others auctioned off for a total estimated value of $3,000,000. On that note, this GT-R is considerably more valuable than the others, considering its rarity, spec, and the fact that it is one of 20 so far to have undergone the CRS program. As such, it's estimated to go from $820,000 to $1,000,000, converted from Euros. Broad Arrow Auctions The CRS Program Known as the Clubman Race Spec, it was developed by Nismo for the CRS restoration program back in 2013 (other sources state 2012 as the kickoff year). There is also an inspection process involved, so to enter this program, not only do you have to find an R34 GT-R, but you also have to make sure that it is in a good-enough condition to go through the whole process. As for the eligible models, any spec Nissan R32, R33, R34 Skyline GT-R can go "under the knife," and recently, Nissan has opened the floodgates to this program for the R35 GT-R. The CRS program is similar to how Nissan did the Z-Tune back in the day. A full restoration, a promise of performance, and options galore. The CRS program also includes Z-Tune-specific parts, if you have deep enough pockets to tick all the boxes in that area. The Process Now, it's not just a paint job and a couple of parts. When Nismo says "restoration," it means it. The entire car is taken apart. Every panel, part, bolt, washer, and clip is pulled from the car until a bare chassis remains. From there, the engineers take the time and effort to torsion test the chassis and check for any points of weakness in the chassis. Any part that has deteriorated beyond the manufacturer's spec will be replaced, and any compromised seal will be redone. After that, it's off to the engine-building department, where the stock RB26DETT is disassembled and blueprinted. This next step will include a full overhaul with replacement parts, engine balancing, and benchtop performance mapping. Depending on what performance package the client opted for, different engine configurations can be installed by the engineers. Customers will have a choice between R or S variations of the RB26, with the R4 being the biggest at 2.8 liters and the most powerful. The other systems will receive similar treatment from Nismo, which includes the brakes, transmission, and other parts. These parts can also be upgraded as part of the program. Finally, the last part includes interior finishing, during which Nissan either restores or replaces all worn interior parts in the car. In some cases, owners can reuse the existing parts and opt for a refresh, but they always have the option to buy a completely new part from the Nismo and Nissan catalog of heritage parts. Also, electrical components related to the vehicle's harnesses are up for testing to ensure proper operation. As with everything else, anything that needs replacing will be replaced. Finally, it's off to the inspection area for a performance examination. Not only will the vehicle be tested on a dyno, but it will also be test-driven by a professional or Nismo test driver to ensure it is up to spec. Bring a Trailer Waiting on the Wait-ListNismo launched this restoration program back in 2013, and it currently involves a screening process that has approved fewer than 20 GT-Rs for work at the Omori Factory. Not only will you need a ton of money to even consider entering the program, but you also need a Skyline in immaculate condition, Omori Factory approval to start working on your vehicle, and finally, several years before you see that car again. That's the keyword: "years." According to source estimates, Nismo quoted about 3 to 4 years from initial delivery to final delivery of the unit when the program was first offered. However, some accounts, such as the coverage by Larry Chen of Top Rank Global's R34 Skyline GT-R CRS, stated that they had to wait a total of five years to take delivery of a unit they had commissioned way back when. Also, according to Top Rank in the interview, 2032 is the next estimated date of delivery if you were to put in an order now – a seven-year wait for an immaculately restored car. After that, however, the result is a car whose odometer reading is basically set to 0, offering a near-zero-kilometer driving experience. Depending on the spec, the performance promise is a car with modern tech for both street and track use, but with the personality and heritage that the GT-R can bring. However, the biggest hurdle will be the waiting times. Lines are getting longer and longer, and there are only so many Omori Factory engineers and technicians who can handle this very tedious and time-consuming process. Not to mention the amount of skilled work, hours, and experience it takes to disassemble a whole car and rebuild it from scratch back up to factory specifications, if not better. Doing It Yourself If you think about it, simply getting an R34 Skyline GT-R is already hard enough, and getting one with low miles and in pristine condition is yet another gamble. Even after you get the car, there is no assurance that the engineers at the Omori Factory will allow your car to be among the few that have gone through the program. At the time of writing, fewer than 20 known CRS R34 GT-Rs have gone through the program and have been delivered to clients. Just getting the car will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, given its condition, mileage, and overall state. In fact, one of the other cars in the lineup is a low-mileage, largely stock example of a V-Spec II Nür, and it goes for over half a million dollars (per the auction estimates). Following that, you will spend thousands to ship the car to Japan, and up to a million dollars on parts and labor for the program. Some estimates state that customers who undergo the CRS program can expect a starting price of $300,000 to $1,000,000. The amount you pay will correlate with how much tuning and work is needed or wanted. If you wanted the top-spec engine, that would cost you an arm and a leg, without the labor. The Nismo R4 engine, which is the 2.8-liter crate engine Nismo offers for the CRS program, is allegedly priced at $54,000 USD, according to a post by GT-R Registry from 2021. On top of that, you have to contend with the exceedingly high price of Nissan GT-R parts. So what's the damage? Well, let's say you want to buy a GT-R in scrutiny-ready condition, you might be looking at anywhere between $100,000 to $400,000 or more to get you started. Following that, it might need some parts, so budget about $100,000 for some bits and pieces. Then you have to make sure that it's shipped properly, so budget another $10,000 or so for shipping it to Japan, give or take. Then, there's the CRS program itself, which will set you back at least $300,000 to $500,000, depending on what you want done. If you want all the bells and whistles, then that's pretty much a $1,000,000 bill on top of a car that already costs hundreds of thousands. Of course, these are all estimations. Not only is it an astronomical cost, but you will also have to find someone actually willing to part with his GT-R. Judging by how the market is going, it's going to take a lot of money if he doesn't love his car, and even more if he does. Considering all of that, maybe it's actually cheaper to buy this car at auction. View the full article
  6. Tapping into Enthusiasts Lego is a timeless brand, one responsible for many memories and the birth of childhood creativity. The company has enjoyed very steady success over the years, never really breaking through that much or losing to new competitors. Lego's staying power is undeniable. When it comes to car enthusiasts, though, Lego has broken new ground in recent times by capitalizing on the boom of car model purchases and popularity. It started with only selected models, but eventually expanded its car model catalog. Lego View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article Lego Models June DropLego Speed Champions is the toy line for car enthusiasts, and June seems like an exciting time with some big drops on the way. Already announced was the Ken Block Hoonicorn Ford Mustang, but additional new models are slated to be released alongside the Hoonicorn stang. Jaybrickblog reports that Brian O'Connor's iconic orange Toyota Supra and Ferrari's current winning Le Mans Hypercar are slated for launch this June. The Mk4 Supra is a legend, considered one of the most recognizable movie cars of all time. It'll come with 292 individual pieces and even has chromed out rims. Despite the Supra being a convertible, Lego Speed Champions has chosen to keep it in the open-top form for the model, and it'll also have a miniature version of Brian, who was played by the late and beloved Paul Walker. The Ferrari 499P was the famed prancing horse's return to the top tier of world endurance racing. Right off the bat, it was a dominant car, beating the likes of Toyota and Porsche, who had been at it much longer than Ferrari in recent times. After its 50-year hiatus from top-flight Le Mans racing, the 499P scored a trifecta of Le Mans wins in 2023, 2024, and 2025. For the Lego Speed Champions, it'll be in its famous red-and-yellow livery and will have 329 pieces in total. Lego View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article HoonicornAs mentioned above, part of the drop will feature Ken Block's take on a drifting competition Mustang, the Hoonicorn. The Hoonicorn was debuted during Ken's long-running Gymkhana series, and it was the star of the 7th film. Alongside the Supra and the Ferrari, the Hoonicorn has the most individual Lego pieces, coming in with 345 in total. However, price-wise, all three cars are the same, with each selling for $29.99. 7. Certainly Not the WorstIf we ask you to rank the generations of the BMW 7 Series, most will inevitably put the E38 model at the top. We can't blame those who would place it at number one, and if you ask us, it does deserve its status. There are those who have their own favorite generation, of course, but the E38 will almost always draw admiration and respect. However, we did come across a reel that ranked the generations, and someone placed the E32 right at the bottom. We respectfully disagree, of course, as we believe the E32 was a pivotal and defining moment for the 7 Series. Okay, every generation (for the most part) raised the bar in one way or another, but the second-gen 7 Series deserves more love. We're just in time to bring it up, too, as this groundbreaking model turns 40. BMW Reaching for the Three-Pointed StarBefore the 7 Series, there was the New Six, and it was part of the original Neue Klasse lineup from the '60s. It was, in some ways, a sportier and more athletic alternative to the W108/W109 Mercedes-Benz sedans. Also known as the Bavaria in the U.S., it was a solid attempt at a flagship sedan, though Mercedes-Benz didn't seem very bothered by it. Then came the first-generation 7 Series in 1977. Internally known as the E23, it was a more serious endeavor, but as impressive (for the time) as it was, the folks from Sindelfingen fired back with the W126 S-Class. So, in 1979, a little over two years after the E23's premiere, BMW started work on the E32 7 Series to give the S-Class a mighty good scare. BMW Designing the E32Ercole Spada is credited as the person behind the E32's design, and it was with the direction of Claus Luthe that helped define the car's final form. In what would be his final interview, Spada recalled his time at BMW with Classic Motorsports. There, he mentioned a proposal from Pininfarina, as well as from other designers. Spada submitted his design in 1980 and ultimately won out. Unfortunately, Spada suffered a personal tragedy after the loss of his eldest son, Andrea, due to an illness. He went on leave after his proposal was approved. When he returned after several months, there were changes made to his initial design, but BMW head of design Luthe pulled Spada aside and said, 'Herr Spada, can you please put all those things back to how they were in your sketch?' Spada's return was the reset the design team needed to get back on track. The 1:1 scale model was presented in 1983, and the car's look was frozen in October 1984. The most distinctive design element of the E32 was its L-shaped taillights, which defied BMW's design language at the time. It would eventually define the brand's tail light designs right up until the Chris Bangle era. That said, there are still subtle nods to the L-shaped lights, even to this day, and we all saw that first with the E32. BMW Technological Tour de ForceTo compete with the W126 S-Class, it wasn't enough for the 7 Series to be as large as its rival. It had outdone its rival in a different field: technology. The E32's electronic control systems were unlike anything seen in its class before. There was the on-board computer, for starters, as well as one of the earliest forms of stability control, Active Stability Control (ASC). Let's not forget the available Electronic Damper Control, the Servotronic steering assist, and wiper motors that pressed down on the windshield as speeds picked up. But then we get to the part that forced Mercedes-Benz to (over) react during the development of the next-gen S-Class, the W140. It was the V12 engine for the 750i and 750iL. It was development chief Wolfgang Reitzle who wanted it for the E32 and had persuaded the BMW board to build it despite the production tooling for the car already in place by then. As a result, the car had to be widened, and its world premiere was pushed back by a year. In fact, the prototypes were noticeably slimmer than the cars that eventually made their way to showrooms. Granted, the 7 Series is far from the first car in its class to offer a V12. Jaguar got there first with the XJ12 as early as 1972. However, the BMW V12, internally known as the M70, would be Germany's first post-war 12-cylinder engine, and that's something nobody can take away from the Bavarians. Oh, let's not forget the V16-powered prototypes that the company came close to producing. Thankfully, sanity prevailed. BMW The Launch ModelsThe E32 made its world premiere in 1986, and the first model produced was the 735i, which began production in June that year. The timing was just right, too, as Mercedes-Benz had just updated the W126 S-Class towards the end of 1986. In Germany, it carried a price tag of 69,000 Deutsche Marks, or about the same as a 300 SE. However, the 735i had a more potent engine, and for the Mercedes to match it, one would have to go for the 420 SE, which was significantly more expensive compared to the BMW. The 735i's 3.4-liter (3.5-liter in marketing material) straight-six produced 211 hp and 225 lb-ft, while the 420 SE made 204 hp and 229 lb-ft from its 4.2-liter V8. The more 'affordable' 730i debuted in December 1986 at a base price of 59,000 Deutsche Marks, further undercutting the S-Class (specifically the 300 SE) of the same era. Both had 3.0-liter straight-sixes, but the 730i made better use of its capacity by putting out 188 hp and 192 lb-ft versus 179 hp and 188 lb-ft from the 300 SE. But the crown jewel was the 750iL that began production in May 1987 and had a base price of 119,000 Deutsche Marks - much less than the Mercedes 560 SEL from the same time. The 5.0-liter V12 was good for 300 hp and 332 lb-ft, unheard of in the European large sedan market at the time. The mighty 560 SEL still managed to put up a good fight with its 5.6-liter V8 pumping out 279 hp and 317 lb-ft, but it was clear that BMW had the upper hand. BMW Model EvolutionBy the time the 735i and 750iL reached the U.S for the 1988 model year, those cars set buyers back at least $49,790 and $67,540, respectively. By this time, BMW and Mercedes-Benz were busy butting heads - all while Audi was dipping its toes in the flagship sedan market with the V8. And then, Lexus stormed in in 1989 with the LS and effectively rained on Germany's parade by offering more car for 'just' around $35,000. Munich's response was to finally give the 7 Series a V8 engine it always deserved. That V8 arrived in November 1991 with the 740i and 740iL. The 4.0-liter unit made 282 hp and 295 lb-ft, which, performance-wise, yielded results nearly on par with the 750iL. It's rather ironic that the V8 practically made the V12 obsolete in one fell swoop, but perhaps there are monied folks who still preferred a 12-cylinder soundtrack and are willing to pay for a huge premium for it. There was also a 3.0-liter V8 option in some markets, replacing the 3.5-liter inline-six, but the six-cylinder 3.0-liter was still offered. The 7 Series also underwent a mild facelift in 1991, with a deeper front chin and a wider grille on V8-powered models. There were also updates to the interior, including some notable options such as xenon headlights and double-glazed windows. BMW Impact and LegacyWe'll admit that the E32 isn't perfect by any means. The cutting-edge tech was indeed amazing, but also resulted in teething problems. Its V8 was also marred by cylinder bore lining issues in countries with high-sulfur fuels due to the Nikasil coating. It's just some of the reasons why it's a challenge to keep this era of 7 Series on the road these days, but we wouldn't call it the worst 7 Series ever just because of those. By Mercedes-Benz's own words, the E32 was a 'robust challenge' for the W126 S-Class. The E32 and Lexus LS were the reasons why Sindelfingen delayed the W140 S-Class and blew more money than it had originally intended just to stay relevant in its class. The fact that this generation of the 7 Series forced Mercedes-Benz to take a defensive position speaks volumes about the impact of this model. Ultimately, it didn't oust the W126 in sales, as Mercedes-Benz produced 818,063 sedans. By the time E32 production ended in April 1994, 311,068 examples had been built. Still, it proved successful enough and justified BMW's efforts in the large sedan category. Had it flopped, the company could've abandoned the class altogether, and the legendary E38 wouldn't be born. The E32 walked so that the E38 could soar. It's as simple as that. 8. More Power UnlockedWith the BMW M5 G90/G99 being the first M5 generation to be electrified, it benefits from a power boost to 717 horsepower, about 100 horsepower more than the previous iteration. Some, however, are not completely sold on the model, given its added weight of roughly 1,000 pounds, primarily due to the plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is paired with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. For those still unconvinced, German tuner G-Power may have a solution with its GP-1000 package, which uprates the M5 to 1,000 ps, or about 986 horsepower – the same output as a Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It would have been helpful if the company had revealed how the package affects performance, but with the M5 already capable of running from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, or 3.5 seconds in G99 Touring form, the added power should make the car feel even more serious. The Aftermarket Has AnswersIn addition to the 986-horsepower output, the package also raises torque to 1,250 Nm, or 921 lb-ft, approximately 180 lb-ft more than stock. The power boost is made possible through upgraded catalytic converters, a new exhaust system, intercoolers, and a carbon intake. BMW M5 owners can also skip the full hardware package, with G-Power saying a software-only upgrade can already deliver 850 ps, or 838 horsepower. G-Power also offers optional upgrades, including a V-max increase, though no specific figures were provided. For reference, the M5 is electronically limited to 155 mph, or 190 mph with the M Driver’s Package. With the GP-1000 package, the M5 surpasses BMW M’s most powerful production model, the XM Label, which produces 738 horsepower from a similar twin-turbo plug-in hybrid V8 setup. G-Power/Instagram Power Comes at a PriceThe catch to this solution, however, is the price. The full package is sold in Germany for €31,297, or about $36,700 at current exchange rates. That means the upgrade alone costs about as much as a brand-new entry-level sports car, such as a Toyota GR86 or Mazda MX-5 Miata – both of which would offer a very different, lightweight driving experience. The BMW M5 sedan starts at $123,300, while the M5 Touring – the first M5 wagon to be sold in the U.S. – costs just $2,000 more. 9. One In 10 Picked The TurboThe Mazda CX-50 sold 110,345 units last year in 2025, the most in the model's brief but successful existence since being introduced in 2022. Of those units, 57,372 (just under 52%) were the base 2.5-liter engine, which is to be expected given that it's the most affordable, starting at $29,000 for a 2026 model. Mazda also offers the CX-50 with hybrid and turbocharged powertrains, and you might be surprised to learn how many people opt for the latter. Jared Rosenholtz/Autoblog CX-50 2.5 57,372 51.99% CX-50 Hybrid 41,130 37.27% CX-50 2.5 Turbo 11,843 10.73% CX-50 Total Sales (2025) 110,345 100% Speaking with Jannice Jacobson, Mazda Senior Manager, Strategic Planning and Integration, Autoblog was told the 2.5 Turbo accounts for "20% of the sales mix" over the life of the CX-50. That means approximately one in five customers has opted for the more powerful engine. Jacobson added a slight caveat to her statement, clarifying that the CX-50 Turbo accounted for exactly 11,843 units (just under 11% of sales) in 2025. This percentage decline isn't because Turbo demand dropped, but because Mazda introduced the hybrid, another highly popular option within the CX-50 lineup, diluting the Turbo's sales mix. Hybrid The Brings Best Of Both Kyle Edward Even at its peak, the turbocharged engine only accounted for around 20% of the CX-50 product mix. Looking at CX-50 Hybrid, it accounted for over 37% of sales last year with 41,130 units sold. It may not match the Turbo's 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel (227 hp and 310 lb-ft on regular), but the hybrid's 219 hp bests the 187-hp base engine while delivering the highest fuel economy: 38 MPG combined. The CX-50 Turbo only achieves 25 MPG combined. Related: Mazda’s CX-5 and CX-50 Are Pulling Shoppers From Toyota, Jeep, and Lexus The CX-50 Hybrid is also cheaper than the CX-50 Turbo, even when comparing high content trims like the Premium Plus; the Hybrid Premium Plus costs $40,450 versus $42,900 for the Turbo Premium Plus. It's no wonder why the hybrid outsells the turbo by more than three-to-one. Buyers get more power than a base CX-50, plus improved fuel economy. Options For Premium Buyers Jared Rosenholtz/Autoblog View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article Jacobson further told Autoblog that CX-50 customers tend to cross-shop it more with outdoorsy vehicles and luxury brands, while the CX-5 competes more against mainstream competitors like Honda and Toyota. Part of the CX-50's premium appeal comes from its hybrid and turbo powertrains, which give it smoother and punchier performance like a luxury car. Like the CX-50, the CX-5 previously offered a turbocharged engine as well, but it was recently discontinued when the third-generation model was introduced for the 2026 model year. Jacobson explained this decision during our discussion: "The CUV segment is rapidly moving towards hybrid offerings, and we are really customer-focused," she said. "For CX-50, it's a strong choice for customers who want performance and capability. The differentiation of the two models (CX-5 and CX-50) and the differentiated powertrains allows us to capture more customers. If you want more performance, you have the CX-50." Mazda also has an electrified CX-5 coming next year, bringing an all-new, in-house hybrid system. The CX-50 uses a co-developed hybrid system with Toyota. Unfortunately, a turbocharged engine is not in the cards for CX-5. "We're watching the market trend and what customers want and it's the hybrid; so that's the priority for the CX-5," Jacobson said. 10. Mazda Opens the DoorSeveral reports about the development of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata have already emerged, but concrete details remain scarce. More recently, Motor1 sat down with Mazda Italia to discuss its progress, and one interesting takeaway is that the automaker is welcoming opinions and ideas from Miata community groups and enthusiasts in Italy. That makes sense, given that the Miata is often seen as a people’s sports car, so gathering structured feedback from the people who know it best could help Mazda create a more fulfilling final product. Roberto Pietrantonio, managing director of Mazda Italia, told the publication that Japanese engineers recently visited Italy to speak with these groups. That is notable, given that Italy is considered one of the brand’s most important markets for the sports car model, along with Germany and the U.K. “The MX-5 is a global car, and the dialogue involves customers worldwide, from the United States to Australia,” Pietrantonio said. Mazda Preserving the MagicBut despite opening up the development process, Mazda has indicated that the next-generation MX-5 Miata will retain its DNA. That likely means keeping a lightweight structure while preserving its balanced driving feel. As such, electrification remains a question because batteries and motors could complicate the vehicle's core characteristics. Still, the brand is not ruling it out entirely, with any change likely depending on future policies and regulations. The current-generation model, known as the ND, has been around for a little over a decade, so a major overhaul is likely overdue. The U.S.-spec model is equipped with a front-mounted, naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine producing 181 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, a layout also seen in roadsters like the BMW Z4. Cole Attisha Betting on EnthusiastsWhatever the final specs turn out to be, Pietrantonio said the MX-5 Miata will still “put a smile on a driver’s face, even when cars can fly.” There is no concrete timeline yet for when the new model will arrive. Still, it will be interesting to see how the nameplate performs in a landscape where roadsters have largely fallen out of favor, and crossovers and SUVs dominate. That’s where feedback from enthusiasts could come in handy. Sebastian Cenizo/Autoblog View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article
  11. Arguably the Best Roadster Ever Produced When it comes to roadsters, the Honda S2000 might be the ultimate analog expression of the concept. A sports car through and through, Honda's drop-top was ahead of its time then, and it still continues to impress. It's a shame that Honda never continued the line because it might have been able to compete and even beat the likes of the Mazda MX-5 and Toyota GR86/Subaru BRZ. While it is no Skyline GT-R, it's a blast to drive, if you dare touch that odometer. There is no doubt that the S2000 was way ahead of its time in terms of design, architecture, and engine design. Being one of the most powerful production naturally-aspirated engines ever made, it comes with its own pedigree and the right to be in the annals of automotive history. With that being said, this is your chance to own one of these Japanese legends right now with a low mileage of just 835 miles. Bring a Trailer Place your Bids Whoever wins this auction will receive one of the freshest S2000 roadsters right now, or at least the freshest I've ever seen in recent memory. It's a proper spec, good engine, manual transmission, and leather seats in a unique color. Usually, we see black or red interiors, but this one is a very unique blue, similar to how Honda's doing blue accents on the Prelude, or how it sprinkles the hue across its Type S models. This is also the second iteration of the S2000, the AP2, which comes with the F22C motor, a 2.2-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder that makes 240 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels. While it's not the record-breaking F20C with its highest horsepower for liter achievement, it does feature more low-end grunt to help you hit VTEC. Honda also improved the AP2's stability while cornering, with the AP1 being more of a handful in comparison. The redline is also reduced, from around 9,000 RPM to about 8,000 RPM. Other bonus additions to this S2000 include a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Bring a Trailer Clean Title It comes with a clean title, no accident history, and factory-original equipment and paint that have stood the test of time. In addition, a new set of tires was also fitted on the 17-inch five-spoke factory alloy wheels finished in silver. The car itself is in a relatively rare color, Suzuka Blue Metallic (B-513M). You don't usually see this color too often, especially in low-mileage condition such as this. It pairs nicely with the blue leather interior, and as mentioned, this is a rare color to have the interior in, considering that most S2000s came with red or black interior as standard. Taking a closer look at the pictures reveals that this car hasn't seen much in the last 22 years since it rolled off the showroom floor. All the leather, plastics, and soft-touch materials are intact. So what's the price? The current bid sits at $70,000 with a couple of days of bidding remaining. Yep, that's right, we're looking at a car that's nearing the six-figure mark. A rarer model might fetch six-digits at auction, think of the Type S variant of the S2000, but this one is also quite a fetch considering its mileage and the fact that it's had no history of accidents and a clean title. Given that Honda will probably never make another S2000 again, if you have the disposable income, it'll probably be hard to find another one as pristine as this. 12. Prices Keep Climbing, Buyers Start AdjustingNew vehicles cost more this year than ever. The average price is now over $50,000 – a number that would have sounded wild not long ago. There are many factors affecting this, including Inflation, pricier materials, and all the new tech packed into cars, which have all pushed prices higher. So Ford is dusting off a playbook that worked before. Instead of slashing prices or piling on the usual incentives, it’s going with something more direct: employee pricing for all. Ford Employee Pricing Returns With a Familiar PlaybookThe campaign runs from May 1 to July 6 and covers most 2025 and 2026 Ford and Lincoln models. The mechanics? Buyers get the same discounts Ford employees do, which can mean saving thousands off the sticker price. Ford is tying the move to the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary, calling the campaign 'American Value for American Values.' But the timing also lines up with the pressure buyers are feeling in today’s market. According to Automotive News, Ford saw its US retail share inch up by 0.2 percentage points in Q1, even as overall light-vehicle volume dropped 8.7%. External factors such as rising fuel costs, inflation, and lingering economic uncertainty continue to influence buyer decisions. Not every model gets the discount, though. The Raptor versions of the F-150, Ranger, and Bronco are out, along with some top trims and niche models like the Mustang GTD. But the core models – trucks and SUVs – are all in. Ford tried this in 2025, and it worked. The campaign bumped its US market share to 14.5 % in the second quarter – one of the brand’s best showings lately. Ford A Measured Bet on Value, Not Just VolumeWhat’s different this time is how Ford is framing the deal. Executives say they’re not just throwing big incentives at buyers, but changing how those deals are offered. There’s some confidence behind the move, too. Ford just posted strong first-quarter earnings and raised its outlook for the year, thanks to steady demand for its trucks and SUVs. The company also says it’s keeping incentive spending in check compared to rivals. Whether this move has the same punch as last year is still up in the air. The market’s holding up, but there’s no shortage of pressure. If anything, Ford seems to know demand is there – but buyers need a better reason to say yes. 13. A Supercar Fantasy Goes Up In FlamesWith iconic Ferrari models like the Enzo, F40, and 250 GTO, owning one remains a dream for many. That dream, however, turned into a nightmare for a Montreal man after he suffered second- and third-degree burns to more than 56% of his body when a Ferrari 360 Spider caught fire. Before anything else, it’s worth noting that this incident appears to be an isolated case – not a knock on the Ferrari 360, which is arguably one of the most beautiful Ferraris of the modern era. According to CTV News, the victim, Richard Papazian, alleges that Ferrari Quebec’s “gross negligence, recklessness, and willful misconduct” led to his injuries. He has since filed a $20.8 million lawsuit against the dealership and other parties. The Deal That Took A Dangerous TurnThe report stated that Papazian gave Ferrari Quebec a $20,000 deposit in July 2022 for the purchase of a Ferrari 296 GTS with the Assetto Fiorano package, a track-focused setup available for the brand’s first plug-in hybrid V6 model. Instead, he was allegedly encouraged to buy the consigned 360 Spider, which belonged to multimillionaire Quebec entrepreneur Luc Poirier. To try to lure Papazian, a salesman took him to the dealership’s second floor in August 2024 to demonstrate the sound of the engine, which, if left stock, would be a 3.6-liter V8 capable of revving up to 8,500 rpm. That is high-performance territory. However, the car had trouble starting, and on the third or fourth attempt, Papazian said he was “engulfed in flames.” In his lawsuit, Papazian alleges that a master technician at the dealership removed the fuel rail and injectors a month before the incident. The legal complaint claims this was done “without taking any precaution to prevent anyone from starting the engine,” making the Ferrari 360 a “dangerously compromised vehicle” that had become a “ticking time bomb.” Papazian said Ferrari Quebec did not reach out to him or his family for support, and did not return the $20,000 deposit. Ferrari The Red Tape After The FireThe news outlet obtained an incident report from Montreal police (SPVM), but the document was heavily redacted. Papazian was also told to file a claim with Quebec’s auto insurance board (SAAQ), though the agency does not automatically cover all automobile accidents, including certain incidents that happen inside a building. While the case is still ongoing, Papazian continues to suffer from trauma, even experiencing sleep disturbances after seeing the sparklers on his birthday cake. 14. The GR Sport Isn’t the Ceiling—It’s Just Where Toyota StoppedThe current Toyota RAV4 GR Sport already pushes the badge further than most expected. With its plug-in hybrid setup making 320 horsepower, it’s the most powerful RAV4 so far, and it finally gives the name some real performance to back up the looks. It’s quick, composed, and genuinely fun to drive – something older RAV4s never really aimed for. But this isn’t the limit for the RAV4. Toyota hasn’t hit the ceiling yet – it's just chosen to stop here for now. There’s still space under the hood, and Gazoo Racing has the tools to turn the RAV4 into a true GR model, not just a GR Sport. The real hesitation is whether enough people want a high-performance family SUV that goes up against European rivals. Cole Attisha The Missing Piece Is Demand, Not EngineeringToyota’s chief engineer Yoshinori Futonagane made it clear that building a more aggressive RAV4 is well within reach, Drive reports. “We could actually fit a 2.4-liter turbo in that engine compartment,” he told the publication. That engine is already in the Toyota lineup, powering models like the Lexus NX and RX in different versions. In some setups, it can make up to 366 hp with electrification, which is well above what the current RAV4 GR Sport delivers. The real challenge is getting everyone at Toyota on board. As Futonagane said, there aren’t any official plans yet – the missing piece is whether the company sees enough demand and excitement to make it happen. In short, Toyota wants to see if buyers are interested. Building a real rival to something like the Volkswagen Tiguan R only makes sense if there’s real demand. For now, the GR Sport is the safer bet. Timing matters too. The 2.4-liter turbo is nearing the end of its run, with Toyota already working on new modular engines to replace it. So if a GR RAV4 happens, it would need to happen soon. Cole Attisha What You’re Getting Right Now Still Holds UpEven without a turbo upgrade, the RAV4 GR Sport is a solid package for the price. The plug-in hybrid setup delivers strong real-world performance, with a claimed 0-62 mph time of about 5.8 seconds – quicker than most mainstream and non-mainstream rivals. Beyond speed, Toyota also reworked the chassis for the GR Sport, with retuned suspension, revised steering, and a wider track for better stability. Despite the bigger 20-inch wheels and GR details, it still looks like a practical daily, just with a bit more attitude. That balance is probably why Toyota is sticking with the GR Sport for now. It already pushes the RAV4 into new territory for most buyers. A full GR version would go even further, but only if enough people are ready for it. 15. The Model X Leads the ChargeOver the past year, Tesla has faced several setbacks, from broader disruptions in the electric vehicle market to CEO Elon Musk’s political activity, which has driven away even some of its most devoted fans. Nonetheless, a report from iSeeCars suggests these issues may have had little to no effect on the company – at least in the used car market. The study found that the Tesla Model X was the fastest-selling used vehicle in March 2026, spending an average of 25.6 days on the market, or 0.4 times the overall average. That highlights Tesla’s competitive position in the used-car market, where it retained a strong share alongside hybrid vehicles. Tesla A Look at the Front-RunnersWhile the Model X topped the “Fastest-Selling Used Car” category, the Lexus RX 350h ranked second with an average of 27.6 days on the market, followed by the Honda Civic Hybrid, Lexus GX 550, Lucid Air, Lexus ES 300h, Tesla Cybertruck, Audi Q5 Sportback, and Tesla Model Y, with the Hyundai Elantra N rounding out the top 10. On the other hand, the slowest-selling used cars included the Volvo XC60 Hybrid, which spent an average of 197.7 days on the market, along with the GMC Sierra EV, Dodge Hornet Hybrid, Dodge Charger, and Alfa Romeo Tonale Hybrid. The study – based on 6.7 million 1- to 5-year-old used cars sold from January to March in 2025 and 2026 – didn’t explain why the Model X led the rankings, only noting that the result indicates the popularity of Teslas and hybrid vehicles. Tesla’s used prices remained largely stable over that period, while non-Tesla EV prices dropped by 10.3%. Moreover, amid a broader slowdown in used-car sales, Tesla models remained the fastest-selling EVs, spending an average of 32.4 days on the market, ahead of gasoline cars at 54.1 days, hybrids at 54.4 days, and non-Tesla EVs at 60.1 days. Tesla What Buyers Are Really ChoosingIt is worth noting, however, that Tesla is ending the production of the Model X, which may have nudged prospective buyers to get one before it becomes rarer and potentially more expensive – especially for a model with a cult following, driven by its early EV prominence and its distinctive falcon-wing doors. Its sedan counterpart, the Model S, is also on the way out. Another key takeaway is the growing popularity of hybrids, which may now be emerging as the default choice for buyers not fully sold on EVs. Only time will tell how the used-car market evolves, but the study suggests demand is gradually shifting toward more practical electrified options. 16. The late-season Pacific storm flagged earlier this week is now arriving across the Western U.S., and the Weather Prediction Center has upgraded its heavy snow risk to HIGH for both Monday and Tuesday, a significant escalation from earlier outlooks. Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect through NWS Sacramento and NWS Reno for the Sierra Nevada, with the system tracking east into Colorado and the Rockies through midweek. The peak of the storm falls on Tuesday, May 5, which also happens to be Cinco de Mayo, putting cold rain and active chain controls in place across much of the West on what is normally a patio-and-margarita evening. Current StatusI-80 over Donner Pass: open, chain controls expected Sunday evening above 7,000 ftUS-50 over Echo Summit: open, chain controls expected overnightUS-395 Eastern Sierra: open, high wind impacts on crestTioga Pass (Hwy 120): closed seasonally, will not reopen this weekSonora Pass (Hwy 108): open at lower elevations, summit conditions deterioratingCaltrans QuickMap is the live source. Status changes by the hour during active storms. What Changed in the Last 24 HoursThe biggest update: the probabilistic heavy snow outlook now sits at HIGH for both Monday and Tuesday, the top tier of the categorical risk scale; yesterday's outlook had Tuesday at moderate. The model consensus tightened overnight and the probability band widened. The Sierra takes the first hit Sunday night into Tuesday. The system then tracks east, with Colorado Rockies and the I-70 corridor under the same HIGH heavy snow flag for Tuesday into Wednesday. Next 48 HoursSnow level drops to about 6,000 ft by Monday morning and 4,500 ft by Tuesday morning, with the heaviest accumulation running Sunday night into Tuesday afternoon. Full closures of Donner and Echo Summit become likely Monday into Tuesday. When both close at the same time there is no realistic crossing of the central Sierra. Tioga, Sonora, and Ebbetts are not options. Tires: The Part Most Drivers Get Wrong in MayThis is the trap that catches Bay Area and SoCal drivers every late-season storm. Most have already swapped to summer tires or are running all-seasons that are well past their winter usefulness. A Winter Storm Warning in May is the same warning it would be in February. The rubber on your car does not know the calendar. What actually matters at the chain control: All-season tires count as standard tires under California's chain control system. Once R2 controls go up, all-seasons require chains regardless of how new they are. R3 means chains required on all vehicles, no exceptions. Summer tires lose grip below roughly 45°F even on dry pavement. On wet or snow-covered roads at the elevations involved here, they are dangerous. If you drove to Tahoe on summer tires, do not assume your AWD compensates.AWD distributes power to four contact patches; if those patches are summer compound, you have four sliding tires instead of two. Dedicated winter tires (snowflake symbol) with at least 6/32" tread depth are the only tires that meet R1 chain controls without requiring chains. M+S all-terrain tires on trucks and SUVs are not the same as 3PMSF (three-peak mountain snowflake) rated tires. The M+S rating is a tread pattern designation; 3PMSF is an actual snow traction test. Check the sidewall before assuming you are exempt. If you are not sure what is on your car, you are running all-seasons so be sure to carry chains. If You Are in Tahoe Right NowSunday afternoon is the last clean window. Leave before 4 pm PT and you should clear Donner before chain controls go up at lower elevations. Leave later and plan for chains regardless of drive type. If you cannot leave Sunday, the better call is to stay through Wednesday. Cinco de Mayo on the RoadTuesday is one of the higher DUI-incident days of the spring even in normal weather. This year, much of the West will be dealing with cold rain on the Front Range, wet or icy pavement at elevation, and ongoing chain controls in the Sierra. If you are driving Tuesday evening, plan around it the same way you would in February. The festive date does not change what the road is doing. View the full article

  20. Honda had a standout April 2026, posting strong overall sales and setting a new benchmark for hybrids. With a balanced lineup and consistent performers across key segments, the brand is clearly getting the fundamentals right. Even its niche seller, the Prelude, had its best month yet, outperforming its monthly target. Strong Sales and Record Hybrid Demand Honda Honda’s April performance paints a confident picture. The company moved 125,571 units in the US, a 1.6% year-over-year increase, while hybrid models surged past 40,000 units, setting a new April record. While fully-electric vehicles were the driving force behind the company's first-ever loss last year, hybrid models are becoming central to Honda’s success. The CR-V led the charge with 42,677 units, remaining one of the best-selling SUVs in the industry. The Civic followed with 25,040 units, while the Accord added 16,071 units, both enjoying their strongest months in recent years. In short, Honda’s core formula of efficient, practical vehicles is working exactly as intended. Surprising Prelude Sales Honda The Prelude isn't meant to sell in large quantities. Honda aims to sell between 3,000 and 4,000 Preludes during 2026, and strives for an average of 300 units per month. Honda sold 357 units in April – its best month yet – and is up 27.5% from March. Year-to-date, the Prelude sits at 1,152 units, averaging 288 models per month thus far. Related: Honda Prelude Sales Are Neck and Neck With Subaru BRZ The Prelude Problem Honda The days of owning multiple cars for different occasions are long gone. And Honda’s April results showcase exactly that. SUVs and practical sedans continue to dominate, and due to rising fuel costs, hybrids are gaining ground quickly. As for the Prelude, the market size isn't as large as it was. And that's exactly why Honda is keeping production volumes low, marketing it as a niche coupe. That said, the lack of a manual gearbox, 200 hp, and starting MSRP of $42,000 makes it an especially tough sell in a value-conscious market. View the full article
  21. Honda had a standout April 2026, posting strong overall sales and setting a new benchmark for hybrids. With a balanced lineup and consistent performers across key segments, the brand is clearly getting the fundamentals right. Yet beneath those headline numbers lies a clear outlier: the Prelude, a car that looks the part but fails to deliver where it matters. Even at Its Peak, the Prelude Still Falls Short Honda The Prelude tells a very different story. Honda sold just 357 units in April, technically its best month yet, and up 27.5% from March. But looking at the bigger picture, that heading quickly fades under scrutiny. The Prelude accounted for just 0.28% of Honda’s total April sales. Put into perspective, even the slow-selling Ridgeline reached 3,602 units, while the Passport managed 5,447 units. More telling still, the aging Mazda MX-5 Miata outsold it by a wide margin, posting 1,163 units in the same month. Year-to-date, the Prelude sits at 1,152 units – still less than the Miata's April sales. Honda’s Success Makes the Prelude’s Failure Clear Honda Honda’s April results highlight a clear shift in buyer priorities. Hybrids are gaining ground quickly, helped by rising fuel costs, while SUVs and practical sedans continue to dominate volume. With that in mind, the Prelude’s struggles are easier to understand. It skips a manual gearbox, offers just 200 hp, and starts at $42,000, making it a tough sell in a value-conscious market. While the Prelude name carries nostalgia and the design draws attention, the overall package falls short. In a month where Honda had tremendous sales success, their "sporty" coupe stands out as the exception. View the full article
  22. The Powertrain That Refuses to FadeThere has been a surge of large electric vehicles entering the market, including three-row SUVs and workhorse pickups such as the TeslaCybertruck. But with heavy high-voltage batteries affecting weight, range, and towing performance, big EVs are not always the simplest answer for long-distance hauling, leaving room for a good old diesel powertrain. In a recent press release, General Motors’ Duramax Assistant Chief Design Engineer John Barta highlighted the driving characteristics of the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel engine. While EVs are known for instant torque, the Duramax delivers strong low-end torque at low rpm, improving towing and hauling capability without requiring much effort. “We get 95 percent of the maximum torque at 1500 rpm, without the engine screaming, without high rpms. It feels great. It’s great for driving around town without having to race the engine from Point A to Point B,” Barta said. GM Still Doing the Heavy LiftingThe Duramax inline-six delivers 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque, edging out the optional 6.2-liter V8's 460 lb-ft figure. But with hybrids gaining momentum, diesels are no longer as relevant as they once were, especially in the U.S., where they are now largely limited to truck-based vehicles. Still, the Duramax is equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation system designed to help reduce emissions. In addition to strong low-end torque, the Duramax also offers competitive range. The 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe 2WD equipped with the engine returns an EPA-estimated 624 miles of highway range. By comparison, the Silverado EV offers up to 493 miles of EPA-estimated range, the longest of any electric truck in the U.S. market. What this translates to in practice is fewer fuel stops on long drives, while many EVs still require more time plugged in at a charging station. “This engine is great for anyone who has a moderate-sized RV or another similar trailer, or someone who likes to take road trips,” the GM executive said. GM Diesel Stays in PlayThe 3.0-liter Duramax is available across several GM models, including the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe, and Suburban, as well as the GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL. Reports suggest that the next-generation Silverado and Sierra, which could start production in October 2026, may carry an updated version of the Duramax engine, reflecting GM’s continued investment in diesel powertrains amid the industry’s broader shift toward electrification.
