Can Ryan Make This Fairmont Run 6’s In The 1/8 For Under 6K? How About Naturally Aspirated With A 5.0?
I love budget builds. Hell, everything I own is a budget build. But sometimes I think folks are just trying to make things harder on themselves. I mean Ryan’s mismatched Fairmont is a GREAT platform for doing this one the cheap, since it is the original Foxbody, but some might say he’s nuts to be trying to do this with an 8.2 deck small block Ford. Oh, and he’s doing it NA. Oh, but that’s not the best part. Nope, not by a long shot. He’s doing it with a STICK! Yep, stick. WTF. I’d love to make fun of him, but I love it. I really love it. And now I’m going to have to help him with it because I love it so much. So can we do it? Can we run 6’s with an NA small block FORD and a T5? Sure! What could possibly go wrong? Video Description: STREETCAR CHRONICLES AND MOONSHINER GARAGE have joined forces to bring the best content to this channel we can!! This was just a taste of the BANGERS coming in the future! Sonnax Launches Award-winning TH400, 4L80-E Servos for Quick Low/Reverse Band Checks at the Track
Sonnax Transmission Company, the leader in transmission innovation, announces a groundbreaking servo system to improve GM TH400, 4L80-E reliability and make staging more consistent and predictable. The externally adjustable low/reverse servo were named runner-up in the performance racing new product category at the 2025 SEMA show, standing out among more than 1,300 entries across 15 categories. In drag racing, proper L/R band adjustment is critical to prevent transbrake malfunction. If the servo is out of adjustment, the piston can bottom out in the case bore, causing the band to slip and the vehicle to creep forward during staging. Until now, racers faced a major challenge: OE servos with steel covers are difficult to adjust in-vehicle, making quick checks impractical. Sonnax externally adjustable servos overcome this challenge by making band checks and adjustments easy. Thanks to a unique design, there is no cover or access plug to remove — the adjuster itself extends through the cover. A quick check is done simply by pushing on the end of the adjuster and observing the movement of the piston relative to the servo cover. This unique feature combined with top-quality materials make these servos an ideal performance upgrade for any vehicle. Choose from kits for the TH400 (part number 34914-20K) or 4L80-E, 4L85-E (part number 34914-28K) transmission. Key Features Quickly check and adjust the low/reverse band to prevent transbrake issues Externally adjustable design for easy in-vehicle service Works with or without OE 1-2 accumulator piston 6061 Anodized billet aluminum cover for strength and durability Sonnax externally adjustable L/R servos are available now through authorized distributors. Team owner and Funny Car driver Buddy Hull is building his newly formed Hull Racing team on a foundation of performance, safety and strong relationships. The past two months have seen a flurry of activity in Hull’s race shop located just south of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex by long-time crew chief Mike Guger and new addition veteran crew chief Matt Bynum. With two Funny Cars in the shop the tandem has been meticulously going over every part and piece of the operation preparing for their season debut at the historic Gatornationals, March 5-8, 2026. Hull is excited about the beginning of a new era in his career. “I have been a team owner and a team driver but this new endeavor, Hull Racing, has me so excited for my future,” said Hull. “This is a family-owned team with my wife Madi and my son Maverick. We are building a program that I am very proud of. Having Matt join Mike to tune this Funny Car gives me a lot of confidence for the long term. Matt has a background like mine, and I am really looking forward to working with him and seeing the success he and Mike can have with this team.” Bynum joins Hull Racing after years working on nitro Funny Cars with several top-level teams including Blake Alexander, Del Worsham and Alexis DeJoria. Bynum also has extensive success in the nostalgia Funny Car ranks. “Funny Car is a premiere category and working with Buddy is something fresh and new,” said Bynum. “This is a chance to build on what I have been doing over the past several years. Buddy and I have the same mindset. We want to stay within ourselves and make full runs without smoking the tires. We are going to be consistent, safe and quick.” Hull is proud to be working with one of the youngest crew chiefs in the sport and helping build the future of his team. Bynum, 34, has worked with some of the brightest minds in drag racing and he is eager to join Guger and continue to build a quality program. “I am always looking to give young talent a chance to shine whether it is one the racetrack or with my business Vertex General Contractors,” said Hull. “I want to work with people who are hungry for success and have a great positive attitude. Matt has come into the shop and really continued to move us in the right direction. He and I have had several conversations about racing and life. This is going to be an exciting season for sure.” Over the off-season Hull along with Guger and Bynum have been adding parts and inventory to their Funny Car team which includes a primary Funny Car along with a back-up Funny Car and all the supporting materials. Elite Motorsports Partners with HBOT4Heroes
Elite Motorsports is proud to announce a partnership with HBOT4Heroes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to veterans and first responders suffering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI), post‑traumatic stress (PTSD), and other invisible wounds of service. “HBOT4Heroes is doing life‑changing work, and we’re honored to help amplify their mission,” said Richard Freeman, Owner and President of Elite Motorsports. “The NHRA community includes countless veterans and first responders. Supporting an organization that is actively saving lives is something we’re proud to stand behind.” HBOT4Heroes provides access to HBOT, an evidence‑supported therapy that delivers oxygen in a pressurized environment to help stimulate cellular repair, improve blood flow and reduce symptoms associated with TBI and PTSD. HBOT4Heroes’ mission is rooted in a critical and urgent reality: an estimated 44 veterans die by suicide each day — a number far higher than the traditional cited 17-22 per day — and a driving force behind the organization’s work to expand access to care. “Every day, we meet veterans and first responders who have been told their symptoms are permanent or that they’ve run out of options,” said Travis Burt, ambassador for HBOT4Heroes. “Our mission at HBOT4Heroes is to make sure no hero is left behind. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is restoring lives, restoring families, and giving people hope again. Partnering with Elite Motorsports helps us reach more of the men and women who desperately need this care.” Through this partnership, Elite Motorsports will welcome HBOT4Heroes’ guests, including veterans, first responders, and supporters, into the team’s hospitality areas at select NHRA national events during the 2026 season. These race‑day experiences offer a meaningful opportunity for recognition, connection, and community support. HBOT4Heroes’ first NHRA experience will be at the season-opening Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway, March 6-8 in Florida. Doug Foley Transitions to Team Owner Role; Gary Pritchett Named 2026 Top Fuel Driver
Doug Foley Racing announced today that Doug Foley will transition from driving duties to a full-time team owner role beginning with the 2026 season. Gary Pritchett has been named driver of the team’s Top Fuel dragster. “We are going to do a driver swap in 2026,” Foley said. “I am going to get out of the seat. And I just felt like we could be better all the way around and I kind of wanted to focus more on just taking the team to another level, and so I decided to get out of the seat.”Foley, a veteran Top Fuel competitor and multi-time IHRA event winner, said the move allows him to focus on strengthening the organization both competitively and commercially. “I just didn’t feel like our team was at the level it could be, and that’s my goal to fix that,” Foley said. The team will compete in a combination of NHRA and IHRA events in 2026. Foley said the hybrid schedule provides opportunities for growth while maintaining a competitive presence across both sanctioning bodies. Pritchett, a former Top Alcohol Dragster competitor and longtime Top Fuel crew member, earned his Top Fuel license in 2015 under the guidance of crew chief Doug Kuch. “Doug Kuch actually got me my Top Fuel license back in 2015 in Charlotte and coming full circle,” Pritchett said. “I feel like all the stars are kind of aligning and really excited for the opportunity.” Pritchett said the opportunity represents a career milestone. “It feels like I got the opportunity I’ve been waiting on my whole life,” he said. Additional announcements regarding partnerships and testing plans for the 2026 season will be released in the coming weeks. For more information, visit http://www.foleylewisracing.com. Jasmine Salinas Announces Plans and Crew Chief for 2026 Top Fuel Season
Top Fuel dragster standout Jasmine Salinas is poised to make a powerful return in 2026. The fan-favorite drag racer will compete in a hybrid schedule this season, featuring at least 10 events in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series as well as select appearances in the IHRA Top Fuel category. Salinas will kick off her 2026 drag racing season next month at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida. True to their name, the Scrappers team is piecing together a schedule that will work on a limited budget as they continue pursuing a long-term sponsor partnership. After a storybook start to her sophomore season last year, Salinas and her team made the tough decision to sideline the Valley Services/Scrappers Racing Top Fuel dragster until they could secure more funding. Leaving the series while sitting fifth in points was a gut-check moment for Salinas. But the temporary setback did little to dampen her spirits or derail her determination. “Cutting our season short last year was really tough, but I’ve learned a lot,” said Salinas. “Driving a Top Fuel dragster isn’t the job. Driving a Top Fuel dragster is the reward. The job is everything else you have to do to get there. I’m really hungry for that first win, and that takes more seat time, which is why I’m going to compete in a few IHRA events in between the 10 NHRA Mission Foods Series races we plan to run. Every lap counts as we continue to seek full-time funding. I am eager to get out there and grateful for the opportunity to pursue this dream. I can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to Valley Services, Pleasanton Ready Mix, Adams Pools and Red Line Oil for their continued support.” Veteran crew chief Todd Okuhara will lead the Scrappers Racing team with the help of assistant crew chief Adem Cave and car chief Cole Fergen. Okuhara has more than three decades of experience tuning both Top Fuel and Funny Car engines for championship-caliber teams, including many years serving as the director of racing for Don Schumacher Racing, overseeing one of the largest fleets of nitro-burning machines the sport has ever seen. “This crew is no joke,” commented Salinas. “I’ve been very fortunate to work with several high-caliber crew chiefs like Rob Flynn and Joe Barlam during my short time in Top Fuel so far. Now, being able to add Todd Okuhara to our crew is very exciting. I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can from him. I think he’s going to be invaluable to our program. This is a team that the driver believes in, and a team that believes in their driver.” While not all plans are finalized at this point, Salinas has confirmed that her 12,000-horsepower dragster will roar to life at the iconic U.S. Nationals over Labor Day weekend in her adopted hometown of Brownsburg. The Valley Services/Scrappers Racing Top Fuel team will begin their 2026 campaign at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season opener, March 6-8, at the AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida.
