  7. After making her first-ever runs in a 12,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragster last week during the PRO preseason test session at Gainesville Raceway, rookie driver Maddi Gordon has officially completed her Top Fuel licensing process, clearing the way for her professional NHRA debut with Ron Capps Motorsports at the upcoming 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season opener. The third-generation racer and former Top Alcohol Funny Car standout completed the licensing process while gaining valuable on-track experience aboard a 330-mph, nitromethane-burning machine. With four days of testing behind her, Gordon shared her thoughts on the transition to the sport’s quickest class and what she’s learned so far as her Rookie of the Year campaign begins aboard the Carlyle Tools Top Fuel dragster next weekend at the NHRA Gatornationals. The team is led by crew chiefs Rob Flynn and Troy Fasching, with Chuck Grospitch serving as car chief. Congratulations on earning your Top Fuel license. Who signed off on it? Maddi Gordon: Thank you, No. 100 TF! Brittany Force, Clay Millican, Shawn Langdon, and of course Ron Capps. Shawn was up there every single run, giving me advice so that was really cool. On our final licensing pass, we ran a 3.834 at 318.09; that was my first time going over 300 miles per hour. What was going through your mind the first time you staged the car? Gordon: Don’t oversteer it! That was my biggest thing. And to make sure I didn’t hit the clutch pedal back in after crossing the finish line. Both those things are second nature to me because of the Alcohol car, but other than that, I kind of just tried to clear my mind of everything and make sure I did my procedures right – pull the fuel on, let off the clutch, bump it in. I wasn’t focused on my lights at all this time around; I was just trying to make sure I saw yellow and get an E.T. slip. How did the experience of a Top Fuel run compare to what you expected going in? Gordon: Everything that everyone said was going to happen, happened. The Top Fuel car, it goes out there, leaves hard, the motor drops, and then it accelerates super hard, but when the RPMs drop, it starts going faster. That seems so backwards to me, but it’s exactly what happened. Ron and Rob and Troy and Chuck and Shawn Langdon, everyone who spent a lot of time answering all my questions were so helpful. There was a time with one of my burnouts, it hung the throttle open a little bit and it was idling high and I couldn’t stop it; that was one of my questions and they told me to lean it out and if it doesn’t kill it right away, hit the switch, and that’s what I did, but I think it just goes back to being surrounded by great people and great mentors who are helping me learn and made sure we were at the point of being able to successfully license. How did you prepare for this moment? Gordon: As far as the starting line goes, I built a mechanism with our clutch pedal assembly and throttle pedal that matched what we had in the Alcohol trailer, and I practiced my procedures on that. Everything from pulling the fuel on when they start it, to letting off the clutch when you go to do the burnout, staging the car, pulling the parachutes, all of that. We have a mini (starting line) tree at my house, and I would practice my reaction times on the tree and then I’d also set up in-car videos of Shawn Langdon in front of me, and I’d go through the whole entire run. I probably did that like 300 times, just trying to prep and get ready. I also asked a million questions! So, thank you to Ron and Rob and Troy and Shawn for answering all my questions. What surprised you most about driving a Top Fuel dragster compared to Top Alcohol Funny Car? Gordon: How hard it pushes you when it puts a cylinder out. I knew it pushed you around, but these things push you hard, and I was really surprised by how aggressively it shoves you over when one goes out. But honestly, you can’t really compare it. In the Alcohol Funny Car, you’re revving it up and you’re dropping the clutch, you’re shifting it twice, yanking it around, it usually carries the front end to 200 feet and then it sets it back down. Everything in the Alcohol car happens between the start and the eighth mile; that’s the gnarliest part, and after that, it mellows out. Once you get to the eighth mile, as long as you’re not out of the groove, you’re cruising. But with the fuel car, it’s gnarly from start to 500 feet, and then it gets even crazier when you go from 500 feet to the back half. You keep going faster and that’s the opposite of the Alcohol car. The driving style is just completely different. I can’t really directly compare it to driving the Alcohol car, but I do think having that experience really helped me with being able to make those quick decisions and split-second seat of the pants driving calls you have to make. What has been the biggest learning curve so far? Gordon: Realizing that you do have to drive out of your comfort zone to a certain extent. I’m not going to be comfortable going 330 miles per hour; I’m obviously new to this so of course I’m going to be uncomfortable for a bit, it’s just a matter of how far out of your comfort zone you can drive, so I was being a bit more timid those first few runs. It put some cylinders out, it pushed hard and I let off. I think an experienced driver would’ve been able to drive through that, but me, I was feeling a little bit behind the car so I didn’t feel like I could correct it back. It’s just going to be a matter of building confidence; the more times I go out on the race track, the more things I feel. The last run we made, it shook but it wasn’t really that bad of shake. It’s questionable whether it would’ve made it or not. I just need more seat time. I’m a person who processes things over time, so having this week now to kind of decompress and debrief before getting back in the car next week is really good for me because I’m going through all these rounds in my head over and over, and I think I’ll feel a lot more prepared heading into testing next week. Even though I’m out of the car right now, I still feel like I’m learning a lot by replaying it in my head. How have Ron and your team helped you through your first runs in the car? Gordon: The people who have taught me to drive are experienced. Every single run, I talk to Ron and I’m like ‘hey, what did you think about that? did it get out of the groove? was it drivable? not drivable?’ I ask Chuck questions, I talk to Rob and Troy about the tune-up, and did I go straight, should I have done X, Y, or Z? I trust their opinion and know they’re going to be straight up with me if I need to change something or if I did something wrong. Without Chuck, Rob, Troy, and of course, Ron, I couldn’t have done this. I ask them a lot of questions, and fortunately, they’re patient and are so helpful. Gordon will make her professional Top Fuel debut with Ron Capps Motorsports aboard the Carlyle Tools Top Fuel dragster at the AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, March 6-8, at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Fla., when the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season commences. Before the race weekend, Gordon is scheduled to complete two additional days of testing in Gainesville, March 3-4. This story was originally published on February 24, 2026. 9. Young gun Ty Kasper is one of the names that’s been missing on the Pro 10.5 qualifying sheets at the first two races in the Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service at Bradenton Motorsports Park. That ends this week at the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by Red Line Oil, as Kasper is back with his twin-turbocharged Mustang after making significant upgrades over the winter. He’s also set to debut a brand-new sponsor, Boost Gangster, a new line of apparel with a powerful mission statement. The Kasper family racing operation, led by Ty’s father, Tom, and older brother, TJ, was full steam ahead on preparing for the 2025/2026 DI Winter Series when they realized the front pillar on the car was cracked. Rather than Band-Aid it up with a quick weld job, they decided to take the time to completely redo the front half of the chassis. Over a four-month period, they made updates to the double frame rail and suspension. Offseason upgrades also included a freshened motor from Joe Newsham at J&E Engines and a new wrap showing off Boost Gangster and Kasper’s longtime sponsor, Victus Sports. “It’s been a mad thrash all winter, but the car is finally on the property and we’re ready to get back out there,” said Tom Kasper, who has also worked behind the scenes on the Winter Series Pro 10.5 program rounding up racers and sponsors. “It pained us to miss the first two races, but we really wanted to take our time and do things right. We were so close to making the U.S. Street Nationals, but we’re bringing out a new sponsor and want to make a really positive first impression. That’s what we’re hoping to do this weekend at WSOPM.” Boost Gangster is new apparel brand taking a deep dive into the drag racing world. The Kasper family’s Mustang and Smart Car tow vehicle have been wrapped in a sharp new matte black look with Boost Gangster branding, and the brand will have a presence on the WSOPM Midway at Bradenton. “We’re really excited to introduce Boost Gangster to the fans at WSOPM,” Kasper said. “Our twin-turbo Mustang making all kinds of boost is the perfect billboard for this brand.” Kasper also noted the team’s supporters that contributed to the team’s efforts to get back on track for the Winter Series finale, the World Series of Pro Mod. “There are numerous people and companies locally that helped make this come together in the short frame of time,” Kasper said. “Joe Newsham at J & E Engines, Steve Hryckowain at Sticky Situation, Scotty Sr., Scotty Jr., and Linda McCracken at SLS Racing, Freddy Sicoli at Killer Kreations, Mike Shiavone and Dave Cappolina at PC Powdercoatings, Kasper Performance Edge and Automotive, TJ Kasper, Ty Kasper, Jennifer Ward, and Jade Maloney, Boost Gangster Apparel, and Nick Fiola at Victus Baseball Bats.” Ty Kasper in the Boost Gangster Mustang will be one of the drivers chasing the custom Victus Sports baseball bat that’s awarded to the Pro 10.5 No. 1 qualifier when Pro 10.5 qualifying kicks off on Thursday afternoon. Fans can stream the race live on FloRacing.com. This story was originally published on February 24, 2026. 10. AB Motorsports crew chief Brian Corradi and multi-time NHRA champion Bo Butner are set to take on the biggest Pro Mod race of the year at the World Series of Pro Mod, February 26-28, the third and final stop of the Drag Illustrated Winter Series at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida. The duo will once again campaign the well-known “Gotham City Returns” 2018 Camaro, backed by Robots Done Right, as they look to cap the Winter Series with a statement performance. Robots Done Right, a Warren, Ohio-based leader in previously owned industrial robots and robotic equipment, partnered with Corradi and AB Motorsports team owner Antron Brown this offseason to support their three-race Winter Series effort. In addition to the Pro Mod program, Robots Done Right will also receive branding on AB Motorsports’ Matco Tools Top Fuel dragster when the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series begins next month in Gainesville, Florida. After suffering an engine failure at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals and narrowly missing the historic field at the U.S. Street Nationals, Corradi and Butner are eager to hit the track at the World Series of Pro Mod. With an engine change complete and additional testing underway at Bradenton, confidence is building heading into the marquee event. “I am looking forward to the biggest Pro Mod race of the year, the World Series of Pro Mod. We can’t wait to get it on with our robots, done right, Camaro driven by the one and only Bo Butner,” Corradi, a multi-time NHRA crew chief champion, exclaimed. Butner is equally eager to return to the cockpit. “I can’t wait to hop back in our Robots Done Right Pro Mod. We had a great Snowbird car and made the fastest run we have made to date at U.S. Street. It’s time to put it all together and show what these guys and this car are capable of,” Butner said. “Our Summit Racing, Hoosier Tire Camaro will be more than ready. Hoping Brian brings some of that Top Fuel tuning and turns it up!” Robots Done Right co-founder John McGill believes the pieces are coming together at the right time. “I’m excited to partner with Brian and Bo for the World Series of Pro Mod,” McGill said. “We’re optimistic after the engine change they made and the testing that they’ve been doing down in Bradenton. I’m looking forward to this endeavor and ending Saturday night in the winner’s circle.” Qualifying for the World Series of Pro Mod begins on Thursday, February 26, with racers having five chances to make the 32-car field. Then eliminations begin on Saturday, February 28. This story was originally published on February 24, 2026. Sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s made for near-perfect conditions as Import Face-Off rolled into Famoso Dragstrip Sunday, February 22, delivering one of the strongest stops yet at the Bakersfield facility. A strong crowd filled the grounds throughout the day, with fans lining the fence, packing the pit area, and enjoying the wide range of activities that make Import Face-Off unique. The energy was high from start to finish as competitors and spectators alike took advantage of the ideal weather. On track, a diverse field of import cars, trucks, and sport bikes battled down the quarter-mile, chasing quick elapsed times and top speeds. In the show area, a polished lineup of cars, trucks, and bikes competed for awards, drawing steady attention from fans. Fan-favorite competitions kept the excitement level up all afternoon. The low car limbo contest drew cheers as participants pushed suspension limits, while the always-popular 2-step competition brought rev limiters, flames, and plenty of crowd reaction. DJs provided music throughout the event, and vendors offered performance parts, apparel, and automotive merchandise along the midway. With excellent weather and strong participation across all categories, Sunday’s Import Face-Off once again demonstrated the versatility of Famoso Dragstrip and its ability to host high-energy automotive culture events alongside traditional drag racing. Hull Racing led by team owner and driver Buddy Hull will start the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series at the historic Gatornationals with new sponsor and marketing partner FS Performance and Sam Pack Ford on their 12,000-horspowered Funny Car. The design will mirror the 2025 high performance Mustang GT Premium that the dealership designed at the end of the year. The limited-edition Ford Mustang “Buddy Hull” specialty car is inspired by the same grit, attitude and adrenaline that drives his Nitro Funny Car program. Over the off-season Hull Racing led by crew chiefs Mike Guger and Matt Bynum have been preparing for the season opener. “We are taking the opportunity to work with Sam Pack Ford and FS Performance to the next level,” said Hull. “It is one thing to have a car on display, but when you can put that car on the racetrack at the Gatornationals in front of the whole world of drag racing that will be so cool. I was able to be a part of the Mustang GT Premium design process and give them ideas on the performance levels of the Mustang as well as styling suggestions to make it very personal to my brand. I have been doing the same thing with Mike (Guger), Matt (Bynum) and the team on the big show Funny Car.” FS Performance Funny Car will also carry the branding from Red Line Oil, Gates Belts, 360 Wraps and Hull’s main business Vertex General Contractors. The team will also be promoting Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull, the award-winning television show that will return for its third season in 2026. “We are building this program with some amazing companies and marketing partners but really Vertex has been a huge part of my business success,” said Hull. “We had a record-setting year last year and we are off to a great start in 2026. The key will be balancing the racing and the business. It is coming together really well and I am excited to be working with Red Line Oil and Gates Belts we have some really cool programs in the works.” The FS Performance Funny Car will be in Gainesville, Florida early for some pre-race testing with the rest of the Top Fuel and Funny Car teams. 14. It’s already time for the World Finals of the STM Powersports Snow Outlaws snowmobile drag racing series, as another warmth shortened season finishes up this weekend (Friday, February 27th and Saturday the 28th) at Three Lakes-Brule River Trails at Spirit Lake, 1426 State Highway 32 in Three Lakes, Wisconsin, USA. The only warmth at Three Lakes this weekend, though, will be the nitro exhaust and hot action of the wild Snow Outlaws sleds as they slice roostertails across the purpose-built, 500-foot, snow-packed racing surface. Friday will be balmy, but those not up to the challenges of Saturday’s single degree temps can enjoy the full-scale live video production courtesy of IHRA. St. Germain Outlaw class winner Tyson Enerson will be looking to repeat on his unique compressed air supercharged, Hypersports, gasoline-fueled two-cylinder sled. The win happened largely due to Enerson’s huge jump on Dominick Ernst at the starting line. Ernst’s screw-supercharged, nitro “Eagle-1” was gaining but came up short. Still, Enerson’s sled is brand new, with lots still to be learned every pass about its unique supercharging system. St. Germain number one qualifier Ethan Erhardt is motivated to complete the job this time, as are Johnathan Lentzkow, R. Dustin, three class competitor Jagger Ashley, the Return of Alec Gibas, and more. St. Germain winner Brian Sullivan is always a good bet to win Pro Xtreme 55 on his “John Deere” sled, but he’ll face a lot of serious competition. That includes St. Germain runner-up Kyle Viney, Pro Modified runner-up Jesse Bruns on Troy Larson’s red sled, Ashley, Devin Kirane, Scott Kostman, Casey Down, Ryan Santry and more. Ashley won Pro Mod at St. Germain and will look to do the same this weekend. Louis Goldbach, Tyler Stelton, Candace Down, Dante Gratti and many, many more will stand in his way. So get out in the snow while you still can. Remember, Snow Outlaws races are always FREE for spectators! Friday’s explosive nighttime qualifying is at 6:00pm, 7:00pm, and 8:00pm. Saturday’s eliminations start at noon with the finals running promptly at 4:00pm (or 3:00, depending on sled count). Chad and Jenny Nyhus and the whole Snow Outlaws crew will have the Three Lakes track on point for the racers and good times aplenty for the spectators. So racer or spectator, get out and have some fun! This story was originally published on February 24, 2026. The post Snow Outlaws Set to Shred Spirit Lake first appeared on Drag Illustrated. 18. (Words and Photos by Chad Reynolds) I hit the Lone Star Throwdown in Conroe Texas this weekend and as usual was blown away by the turnout of great trucks. When I arrived at the just after it opened, I have to admit I was a bit worried. The place was not full. Not by a long shot. Now we normally get down here to the show an hour or so later, so I was trying to convince myself it was going to be okay, but I wasn’t doing a very good job of it. That was until about 10, when a definite increase in the hum around the places started happening and cruise traffic started really increasing. By the time I left the show a few hours later it was hopping as usual. And while the morning started off chilly and overcast, the grounds were in great shape with little or no wet spots from the showers that were expected Friday. And by 10 am I had to take my hoodie off because it was just too warm. It was great weather for a truck show friends. The food trucks were slinging snacks, although I didn’t see the hot chocolate ans s’mores folks from last year that made a killing. It really was a great day at the show. Lone Star Throwdown, or LST as it’s often referred to, is one of the premier custom truck shows in the country, and it happens rain or shine. This show is always one of my favorites. It draws folks from all over the country, along with Canada and Mexico. In 2027 you’ll find us on site with the OBS Suburban project you guys don’t know about yet. And maybe a merch stand, who knows. The numbers are clear and the possibilities are wide open as the Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service heads into its championship decider at this weekend’s Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by Red Line Oil, Feb. 26-28, at Bradenton Motorsports Park. With a maximum of 957 points available at WSOPM — including 900 points for the event win (1.5x points), 32 for No. 1 qualifying, and 25 for tech-in — the richest and most prestigious race of the series also carries enough weight to dramatically reshape the standings. In fact, mathematically, even a newcomer who didn’t score points at the first two races could still steal the championship under a highly unlikely “chaos scenario,” as Winter Series Race Director Gavin Carter described it, though it would require a perfect storm of early exits for the leaders. In reality, the title fight is expected to come down to a handful of leading contenders — but the path each driver must take varies significantly depending on where they sit entering the finale. The Front-Runners Jason Harris, Steve Jackson (-19), Eric Gustafson (-106) For the top three in points, the formula is simple: whoever goes the farthest in eliminations wins the championship. Just 19 points separate Harris, the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals winner, and Jackson, the U.S. Street Nationals winner, with Gustafson still well within striking distance at 106 points back. Because the gap between them is less than a round, qualifying points will not swing the outcome — it will be decided strictly by round wins. Within One Round Sidnei Frigo (-132) Frigo, the Snowbirds runner-up, sits less than a round behind Harris and enters the weekend with a clear but slightly more complicated path. If Frigo qualifies within 18 positions of Harris, he only needs to go farther than the top three to claim the title. If he qualifies outside that range, he effectively falls more than a round back and would need to go one round further than Harris — and still beat Jackson and Gustafson. Should Harris reach the finals while Frigo is outside that 18-spot window, Frigo would be eliminated from contention. The Next Wave of Contenders Randy Weatherford (-206), Derek Menholt (-235) Both drivers remain firmly in the hunt but will need help. Each must advance at least one round farther than the top four in points to win the championship. If any of the top four reach the final round, Weatherford and Menholt are mathematically eliminated. Long-Shot but Alive John Doc (-317), Kye Kelley (-320), Kallee Mills (-330), Peter Norton (-340), Billy Banaka (-417) This group faces a steeper climb: They must go two rounds further than the top four and one round further than Weatherford and Menholt. If the top four reach the semifinals, this group is eliminated. If Weatherford or Menholt reach the final, their hopes are also over. Deep Outside Shots Positions 12–21: Ken Quartuccio, Kevin Rivenbark, Jimmy Taylor, Justin Bond, Shawn Ellington, Steve King, Brylon Holder, Brandon Snider, Lyle Barnett, Spencer Hyde For this tier to claim the title, they must: Go three rounds further than the top four, Two rounds further than Weatherford/Menholt, and One round further than the Doc/Kelley/Mills/Norton/Banaka group. If the top four reach the quarterfinals, or Weatherford/Menholt the semis, or the next group the final, this tier is eliminated. Extreme Long Shots Positions 22–32: Melanie Salemi, Victor Alvarez, Kurt Steding, Tommy D’Aprile, Mike Decker III, Jim Halsey, Robin Roberts, Greg Blevins Jr., Mark Micke, Scott Taylor, Rian Hayward Their path requires a near-perfect weekend: Four rounds further than the top four, Three rounds further than Weatherford/Menholt, Two rounds further than the Doc group, and One round further than the 12–21 group. If the leaders advance to even moderate depths — such as the round of 16 — this group’s title hopes disappear quickly. The Chaos Scenario Because of the massive points available, drivers outside the top 32 technically remain alive, but only if the standings implode — requiring multiple early exits across nearly every contender group. While improbable, the math underscores just how impactful WSOPM is within the Winter Series structure. 23. If you missed this FJ40 project that Shannon Campbell is working on, we’ve got a link below, but if you are back for the next installment in this build series you are in luck as well. In this new video you’ll see the chassis go under the FJ40 for fitment and some clearancing of sheet metal. I think this is going to be a fun project, because I love FJ40s, but if you have any ideas of building a custom chassis for your FJ or Jeep, you should check this one out. Video Description: Back in the shop and making real progress on the FJ40 build! In this video, Shannon notches the body to properly fit the frame, trims down the front fenders, and fabricates spring hanger mounts as the build continues to take shape. This is the kind of hands-on fabrication work that makes or breaks a solid rig. We also get a quick visit from Donnie and Brandan, who roll up to help Shannon mount tires—because apparently we’re already calling this KOH 2027 prep The post FJ40 Land Cruiser Custom Chassis Fabrication: Body Notch, Fender Trim, Spring Hangers And More appeared first on BangShift.com. 25. John Jackson from Not Stock Photography was back at Lone Star Throwdown 2026 and has already put out his video! This show was awesome, as always, and although I got there a bit early it sure filled out and was packed in the afternoon. This show is one of the best truck shows in the country, make no mistake, and for sure is the biggest and baddest show in Texas. They sell out of entries for this event each and every year, and we understand why when the weather is great and the trucks are everywhere. Video Description: Truck Show Season is officially back……….Its Lonestar Throwdown 2026 I know we get a big hotrod show in California in February with the GrandNational Roadster Show, but I like to chill out in Texas till LST comes around, and hang out with all my custom truck friends. I always get asked why I choose to make this my first show of the year, and basically its my roots(even though its changed a ton). When I was a kid I wanted a VW or a HotRod, but what I got was a 1982 Ford Ranger that I immediately cut the coil springs on, and performed the worst two tone paint job you’ve ever seen haha. I showed up on Thursday to LST with Wayne,Guy, and Ryan to basically just hang out and enjoy the scenery(and cruise the corvair van a bit). It was pretty laid back, but busy for a Thursday so didn’t really get any footage. Friday we rolled in around 9, and I wandered around seeing old friends, and checking out cool builds……..and eating way too much Jalapeno Cheese Sausage haha. Saturday was crazy it started off pretty slow, and around 10:30 I thought I was going to take a lap, but noticed the long line of spectators funneling in, and the cruise line was already nose to tail. I got a couple laps in, but decided to hang out in the tent(and steal Tacos) from them Good Ol’Boys from Laredo the Estos Vatos Car Club. I can’t talk about the show without mentioning how perfect the weather was it was in the 80’s every day, but Sunday when a cold front came in, and it was 60. If you’ve had the unfortunate memory of LST’25 it never got above 35 for the whole weekend so this weekend was a great change of weather. Sunday we loaded up, and headed home I recently bought a trailer for the corvair van so I could haul it around to a few more shows this year, and the drifter pulled it without any issues(especially after figuring out it tows better with a corvair backwards on the trailer haha) Hope You enjoy the Video Congrats to Ed, and the Classic Car Studio for Winning the Amazing Best of Show Trophy this Year that looked like a Billet Oil Derrick by the guys at one ten machining. Well hope to see a bunch of you at cars shows in 2026 JJ ‪@NotStockPhoto‬ CLICK HERE IF YOU MISSED OUR PHOTO GALLERIES FROM THE SHOW!
