Turning This Old Farm Truck into a Killer Street Machine Using Scrapyard Ford Parts! Bumpside Ford Goodness Part 3!
It’s alive! Here’s the Part 3 video in the series, and that means actual driving! Yes, this thing is going down the road in this one and showing off all the bits underneath. I love donor vehicle builds like this one. What I mean by that is when you buy a car, or parts from the wrecking yard, to build something new and exciting in a way it never was before. My 1956 Chevy station wagon for instance, has a 1994 Caprice 9C1 cop car chassis and drivetrain under it. It was a great way to get a modern efi drivetrain, plus big brakes and much better suspension, all while repairing the rusty floors. We used everything we could out of the donor cop car and it worked out great. In the video below, Tony is going to take suspension from a Crowne Vic and a Mustang, along with a nice stroker small block to make something cool as hell out of this old farm truck. Check it out and let us know what you think. And remember, while the aftermarket is awesome you can sometimes get just what you need at the wrecking yard if you are on a budget. Keep that in mind for your next build, because money saved on one project is money you can use for fancy high end parts on another! Video Description: This week on Stay Tuned, Tony Angelo and the Stay Tuned dudes get back on the F100 project in hopes of getting it driving down the road! Packed with 347ci of Blueprint Engines SBF from @speedwaymotors and backed by a Tremec TKX 5 speed from @AmericanPowertrain, this nasty F100 is ready to rock! The giveaway for our KILLER ’71 F100 project is LIVE now on our merch site, www.staytunedshop.com! Grab some merch, and enter for your chance to win! Rules and regs on the site. FJ40 Land Cruiser Custom Fabrication: Sheet Metal Madness – The FJ Gets A Glove Box, Floor Mods And Doghouse Fab
Shannon is back at the fab work on the FJ40, with the roof and dash coming along, as well as the pedals and steering in a second video. There is a lot more going on as well, but that’s the fab wwork we’re seeing in this one. There is a lot of fabrication going on in this project, so we hope it inspires you to get out there and start cutting and welding something on your ride this week. Shannon and Jess are moving right along on the FJ40 and things just keep getting better. If you like a Landcruiser, you’ll dig this one. But if restored to factory is your jam, this one might not be quite up your alley. We dig them all, so we are in. If you missed this FJ40 project that Shannon Campbell is working on, we’ve got a link below, but if you are back for the next installment in this build series you are in luck as well. I think this is going to be a fun project, because I love FJ40s, but if you have any ideas of building a custom chassis for your FJ or Jeep, you should check this one out. CLICK HERE IF YOU MISSED ANY OF THE UPDATES ON THIS FJ40 PROJECT SO FAR Video Description: This week in the shop, Shannon gets back on the FJ40 and knocks out some key interior fabrication to keep this build moving forward! We’re talking: Custom glove box and lid build. Floor modifications to gain more brake pedal travel. And building a full doghouse over the transmission and transfer case. It’s all about making this rig functional, clean, and ready for what’s next Of course… it wouldn’t be a Coop video without a little real life mixed in. We squeezed in: A quick trip to Grandma’s for some yard work Time with sweet Emerald And Jess heads out for a Mumu & Margarita party (because balance, right? ) A little fab, a little family, and a whole lot of chaos… just how we like it. HIGH FLYING FORMULA OFFROAD RACING VIDEO FROM ICELAND’S STANGARHYLUR 2026! COURSE 3 and 4 RACING ACTION
It’s time for the 2nd Formula Offroad race of the 2026 Season in Iceland and here’s the video coverage. If you haven’t watched this kind of racing before, you are in for a treat. It’s all big power, big noise, crash and burn, and high flying action in an environment unlike any other. If you are new around there then you might not know that we seriously dig Formula Off-Road racing here at BANGshift.com. This is high flying, loud, and intense racing that involves what look to be impossible hillclimbs, usually on giant courses made from pea gravel or something similar. It’s intense, the cars often end up upside down or rolling over down a hill. They end up rightside up on their own sometimes, but regardless the action is fun and kind of nuts. These drivers do some stuff that I’m not sure most people could. Check it out below. The post HIGH FLYING FORMULA OFFROAD RACING VIDEO FROM ICELAND’S STANGARHYLUR 2026! Tire Smoke & Triumph: ANRA Spring Nationals Crown Champions
Sunny skies, temperatures in the mid-80s and plenty of vintage horsepower combined for a spectacular conclusion to the ANRA Spring Nationals Sunday at Famoso Dragstrip. From smoky burnouts and wheels-up launches to parachutes blossoming at the top end, the legendary Bakersfield facility once again served as the stage for one of the West Coast’s premier nostalgia drag racing events. When the final win lights flashed Sunday afternoon, champions had been crowned and another chapter had been written in the rich history of ANRA competition. Donald Ferguson drove past Joe Trotsky in the Nostalgia Eliminator 1 final, while Justin Rathert defeated Ethan Gates to claim the Nostalgia Eliminator 2 title. Kevin White rounded out the Nostalgia Eliminator winners with a victory over Douglas Holmes in Nostalgia Eliminator 3. Jim Suydam earned the A/Gas victory over Hank Merenda, while Randy Armstrong captured B/Gas honors by defeating Brent Handley. Beau Dyson scored the C/Gas win over Russ Andrew, James Burt topped Dave Brownson Jr. in D/Gas and Brad Thompson defeated Ronnie Prewett to claim the E/Gas title. Thompson wasn’t finished. The Visalia racer doubled up during the weekend by also taking the Sportsman victory over Mike Van Horn, becoming the only driver to score two class wins during the Spring Nationals. Mike Brock claimed the Open Wheel title with a victory over Jim Herbst, while Ed Walker drove to the Hot Rod championship over Mark Thompson. The next generation of racers continued to showcase the future of the sport as Chase Crandall won Junior Comp over Emersyn Rose Pires. Audrey Frye, Addison Howe, Dylan Nelson and Isabella Lily Pires added Junior Group victories to cap off a strong weekend for the youth racers. Throughout the weekend, Famoso’s famed racing surface kept competitors glued to the groove as old-school machines thundered down the quarter-mile, proving once again that nostalgia drag racing is far more than memories and polished sheet metal. It’s competition. It’s tradition. And after another weekend of tire smoke, close racing and triumph at the finish line, the ANRA faithful reminded everyone that some of drag racing’s best stories are still being written by racers carrying the spirit of the sport’s golden era into the future. This story was originally published on June 8, 2026. The post Tire Smoke & Triumph: ANRA Spring Nationals Crown Champions first appeared on Drag Illustrated. View the full article

All John Force Racing Funny Car Final at NHRA New England Nationals Postponed Until Bristol
John Force Racing will win the Funny Car class of the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway, but it will be next Friday at Bristol (Tenn.) Dragway before it’s determined whether it will be Jack Beckman and the PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car team or Jordan Vandergriff and the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car team who raises the NHRA 75th anniversary diamond Wally trophy. Rain hit the drag strip as the finalists in both Funny Car and Top Fuel were in the staging lanes ready to determine the event’s final two winners. It started and stopped at least three times before a final downpour forced NHRA officials to postpone until next Friday. It’s the 58th all-John Force Racing final and first since the 2025 U.S. Nationals when Austin Prock defeated Beckman. It’s also the fourth all-John Force Racing New England Nationals final. Courtney Force defeated her dad in the inaugural NHRA New England Nationals in 2013. Josh Hart’s Speedmaster Top Fuel team and Alexis DeJoria’s Bandero Café Chevrolet SS Funny Car team both exited after the second round, Hart to an unbelievable reaction time from his opponent and DeJoria by an almost incomprehensibly small margin of victory by hers. Beckman easily won his first-round matchup against Phil Burkart Jr. with a run of 3.970 seconds at 323.58 mph to Burkart’s 12.368 seconds at 70.44 mph. The PEAK SQUAD dispatched of Matt Hagan in the second round, running 3.943 seconds at 324.75 mph to Hagan’s 4.020 seconds at 323.04 mph. In the semifinals against Ron Capps, Beckman set low elapsed time of the meet with a run of 3.904 seconds at 329.75 mph to set up the final round against Vandergriff. “The disappointment is we’ve built some great momentum the past couple of weeks and we wanted to keep that going in the final today,” said Beckman. “Our car has been down the track 14 of the last 15 runs. That Cornwell car’s been wicked consistent, too. I think with the track getting better and better here throughout the day, we could have set the two lowest ET’s of the weekend, which our PEAK Chevy took in the semifinals today. But we’re not going to race in the rain and we’ll pack our cars and have three reasons to go right after it in Bristol. We’re going to have qualifying, the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, the final round against Vandergriff for this race, and the Bristol race. That’s four reasons to push hard right off the bat.” Vandergriff had his hands full early in the run with first-round opponent Jeff Arend but his 3.970-second run at 323.58 mph was more than enough for Arend’s 4.104 seconds at 286.38. In round two, the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car rand 3.942 seconds at 324.51 mph to defeat Chad Green, who ran 3.975 seconds at 322.42 mph. In his semifinal matchup against J.R. Todd, Vandergriff lost the reaction time battle, but Todd’s car spun the tires shortly thereafter while Vandergriff streaked to a run of 3.982 seconds at 316.52 mph. “We have an all JFR final and this is definitely what John would have wanted,” said Vandergriff. “So, thank you to Cornwell Quality Tools for getting me here. I hate it for all the great fans here in Epping who stuck it out because they deserved to have everything get wrapped up here but it was not to be.” The Speedmaster team took the round one win against Rit Pustari with a run of 3.872 seconds at 330.47 mph to Pustari’s 3.382 seconds at 79.29 mph. Hart had lane choice in round two against Billy Torrence and cut a solid .056 reaction time, but Torrence had an almost unimaginable reaction time of .036. That margin made the difference at the finish line as Torrence took the win with a slower run of 3.861 seconds at 331.04 mph to Hart’s run of 3.856 seconds at 332.43 mph. “To say I’m not happy would be a huge understatement,” said Hart. “I haven’t been beaten on a holeshot since 2023 Gainesville against Tony Schumacher. That said, I am proud of the Speedmaster JFR team as we continue to work on our hot track tune up. Now let’s go to Bristol.” DeJoria posted a solid run of 3.998 seconds at 326.40 mph to take the first-round win against Cruz Pedregon’s run of 4.397 seconds at 20.721 mph. In round two, Ron Capps had lane choice, but DeJoria got the holeshot (.056 to .070) and led for almost the entire length of the racing surface before Capps got around her right at the finish line. The Bandero Café Chevy ran 3.953 seconds at 328.54 mph to Capps’ 3.938 (low ET of the round) at 327.11 mph, meaning the margin of victory was a mere .0008, or just 10 inches. “It was a good showing for the Bandero Café Chevy SS Funny Car team this weekend,” said DeJoria. “We qualified well on Friday, getting the No. 1 spot and some important points. Everything just seems to be clicking right now. Everything’s coming together. It’s just a matter of time. I’ve said that before but I’ve never felt it more than this moment with our performance level and just how confident I feel in this race car. Bristol can’t come soon enough. These guys are doing such a good job. I really wanted to bring home a Wally for my East Coast family, but I’ll be back next year. You can be certain of that.” The ninth of 20 races of the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series is the June 12-14 Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol (Tenn.) Dragway. Antron Brown Advances to Quarterfinals at NHRA New England Nationals
Four-time Top Fuel world champion Antron Brown continued to show consistency behind the wheel of the Matco Tools Eagle Experience Top Fuel dragster during the NHRA New England Nationals presented by bproauto at New England Dragway, advancing to the quarterfinals before falling to reigning world champion Doug Kalitta. Brown opened qualifying with a solid 3.868-second pass at 327.66 mph, placing him sixth after the opening session. He followed it up Friday evening with a 3.822 at 324.20 mph. On Saturday, Brown and the AB Motorsports team continued to make competitive runs, posting a 3.821 at 325.77 mph. In the final qualifying session, the Matco Tools machine overpowered the racing surface and lost traction shortly after launch, resulting in an 8.264 at 70.69 mph. Brown ultimately qualified No. 12 for eliminations. Racing from the bottom half of the ladder on Sunday, Brown faced Shawn Reed in a marquee first-round matchup. Brown gained the advantage at the starting line with a .049 reaction time compared to Reed’s .108 and used the holeshot advantage to secure the win. Brown crossed the finish line in 3.828 seconds at 330.31 mph while Reed posted a quicker 3.817 at 328.78 mph. The round-win set up a quarterfinal matchup with reigning Top Fuel world champion Doug Kalitta. Kalitta gained the advantage at the tree and never surrendered it, using a 3.762 at 330.23 mph to defeat Brown’s 3.808 at 329.58 mph. Despite the quarterfinal exit, Brown leaves New England encouraged by the continued progress being made by the AB Motorsports team as they look toward the second half of the regular season. “We felt good this weekend,” Brown said. “We’re making leeway to where we need to be, and that’s very refreshing. We’re constantly getting better and growing. We’re looking forward to going to the next race and doing some more. “The main goal is to qualify better. If you qualify No. 1, you might be able to get a bye run, and that really helps out. I think we’ve got something we can work with, and we’ll find out more as these races come. We have six more races left before the Countdown, and our goal is to get into the top five. We just have to keep our heads down and make that happen. Once we achieve that, we’ll go out there and see if we can win those last six races for our championship. That’s the game plan.” The NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series returns to action next weekend, June 12-14, for the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. Funny Car Points Leader Ron Capps Records Another Semifinal Finish at NHRA New England Nationals
Ron Capps continued to lead the way in the NHRA Funny Car championship chase Sunday at the NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway, driving the NAPA Auto Care Funny Car to his second consecutive semifinal finish. The three-time Funny Car world champion entered the eighth event of the 20-race NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season as the points leader and left with that lead intact, adding another late-round race day run to a season that already includes two wins, a runner-up finish, and two No. 1 qualifying efforts. Capps powered to the provisional No. 3 position in Friday’s opening qualifying session, earning one bonus point with his 4.065-second pass at 319.22 mph. He then lost traction around the eighth-mile mark in the second session, his only brush with traction issues for the weekend. Capps and crew chief Dean ‘Guido’ Antonelli stepped up to a 3.945 E.T. at 328.22 mph in Q3, the second-quickest pass of the session, to earn two more bonus points. It was also the first round of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, and Capps turned on the win light over two-time and defending world champion Austin Prock. In the final qualifying session and final round of the Mission Challenge, Capps moved first and charged to a 3.953-second pass, but Jordan Vandergriff drove around him to take the win. With qualifying wrapped up, Capps secured the No. 6 slot on the eliminations ladder. Capps’ string of passes in the mid-3.90-second range continued on race day. He threw down the third-quickest run of the first round, a 3.948 E.T., to defeat a tire-smoking Daniel Wilkerson. He then set low E.T. of the second round with his 3.938-second pass to knock out Alexis DeJoria in a side-by-side race decided by just one thousandth of a second. By advancing to the semifinals, Capps also earned a spot in the next Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge. The NAPA Auto Care machine was consistent and quick again in the semis, where Capps posted a 3.943 E.T. at 325.37 mph but it wasn’t quite enough to outpace Jack Beckman, who won with a 3.904 E.T. “This is the time of the season to have the points lead,” Capps said. “To have two Wallys at home already is incredible. Going into this year, we said the Funny Car division was as tough as we’ve ever seen it, and here we are again saying the same thing. So, to be on top is great. It speaks to the consistency that we’ve had, but honestly, we’re not at our best, which is even cooler because we feel like we are struggling a little bit to get a little better, and when you can say that you’re the points leader when you think you’ve got more room to improve, that’s pretty neat as well. Guido and the NAPA Auto Care guys have done a great job. I feel comfortable driving the car. We’re just having a great season so far.” Capps now carries his points lead into the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, June 12-14, at Bristol Dragway where he returns as the defending event champion. With eight victories there, the Ron Capps Motorsports team owner is the winningest driver in the professional ranks at the historic Tennessee facility. New England Nets Momentum, Semifinals Finish for Greg Anderson and the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet
The eighth of 20 races on the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series tour brought Greg Anderson a tidy stack of accolades and a good nudge of momentum as the 13th annual NHRA New England Nationals drew to a close. It also provided a strong springboard for the last of three consecutive events in three weeks, which will take place at the very racetrack where Anderson claimed the first win of his career 25 years ago: Bristol Dragway. “It was a good weekend for me and the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet, and it was a great weekend for KB Titan Racing,” said Anderson, who reached the semifinals on Sunday at New England Dragway after claiming the 145th No. 1 qualifier of his career and winning the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge bonus race. Anderson’s teammate and the reigning world champion, Dallas Glenn, ousted the most winning driver in the history of Pro Stock and went on to win the event in the sixth all-KB Titan final of the season. With a bye run in the opening round of eliminations, Anderson raced to a low elapsed time of the round 6.546-second pass at 209.36 mph, and the bold numbers gave him lane choice over longtime rival Jeg Coughlin Jr. in the second round. There, Anderson was off the starting line with a respectable .035-second reaction next to Coughlin, who had problems on the starting line and rolled through the beams too quickly, illuminating a -.217 red light. The HendrickCars.com Chevrolet was again quickest of the round, tripping the final timer with a 6.546, 209.75. With a 16-8 advantage over Glenn in previous elimination rounds – and lane choice over him in the semis – Anderson had a statistical leg up. After raking in a bunch of bonus points in qualifying, he entered eliminations one mark ahead of the incoming points leader. Glenn was in no mood to give up the lead leaving the event and launched with a .011 to top the six-time world champ’s .039. That was the decider as Anderson’s quicker 6.548, 209.30 was eclipsed by Glenn’s 6.556, 209.49. Anderson leaves the event No. 2 in the Pro Stock points, just two rounds behind Glenn. “It’s hard to be too unhappy about it, though, because we’re heading right to Bristol Dragway, and I really feel like my HendrickCars.com Chevy is the best car out here,” said Anderson. “That means it’s up to me, and Bristol holds a lot of memories and some really great history for this old guy. I just have to do my job once we get there, because obviously I’ve got the car that can get it done.” The next event on the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series tour is the 25th annual Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway, June 12-14.
