Sick Week Day 1 Video: A Great Day Of Drag and Drive Racing At Gainesville Ends With CARNAGE!!!
Carnage is NOT how you want to start off your week of racing at Sick Week, or any other event for that matter, but that’s exactly what plagued some racers on Day 1 of Sick Week 2026. Luckily for us, Kyle and the gang at 1320Video were on hand to catch all the racing action, good and bad! I’ve only had carnage that knocked me out of competition once in 21 years of Drag and Drives, but man it sucks. So I feel bad for the folks experience it this year. If you missed any of the Sick Week video coverage so far, click the link below. Otherwise, check out the Day 1 racing coverage in the video below. CLICK HERE IF YOU MISSED THE PREVIOUS SICK WEEK 2026 VIDEOS Video Description: Day 1 marked the first official day of racing at Gainesville Raceway for Sick Week 2026. After getting through testing and tech on Day 0, racers were back on the same surface, now chasing real numbers with points and the week on the line. The racing was strong early on, but the day took a turn late. Two of the three cars we thought had a real shot at running a 5 are already out. Goldstone, after grinding all day and bolting on a borrowed front end just to stay in it, ended up destroying it — bringing a tough end to what started as a great day of racing. The Top 5 Surprisingly Tow-Capable SUVs
Hyundai Most "SUVs" have a tow rating, but there are only a handful that provide capability and the recourses to make the chore of towing easier and safer. A quick note on what “surprising” means here: I’m talking about SUVs you might not immediately think of as tow rigs, yet they deliver genuinely strong towing ratings, typically 5,000 to 8,500+ pounds - while still providing comfort, usability, and reasonable overall size. These aren’t dedicated tow trucks; they’re everyday SUVs that just happen to tow extremely well. This means mostly midsize and full-size SUVs, with EVs omitted entirely. I’m also factoring in how many built-in towing tools and technologies they offer, not just raw pound-figures. You might be shocked how easy some of these vehicles make the chore of towing. There’s no particular order here - just five capable machines, plus one very compelling honorable mention. Ford View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article 5. Ford Expedition($62,400 base MSRP) The updated 2026 Ford Expedition walks into this list with swagger - literally. Its recent styling refresh gives it a more muscular attitude, while the cabin and tech suite received serious upgrades. Tow Rating9,300–9,600 lbs, depending on configuration - nearly the highest in the full-size segment. Why It’s SurprisingFull-size capability isn't surprising; the way the Expedition does it is. Many assume big SUVs equal rough-riding, truck-like compromises. Instead, the Expedition offers a genuinely comfortable interior, a smooth ride, and tons of space for people and gear while still pulling nearly 10,000 pounds. Good ForLarge boats, multi-axle trailers, car haulers, and long-distance towing with a full crew on board. And yes - the 440-hp 3.5L EcoBoost is still one of the strongest and most efficient engines in the class. Bonus: the new Tremor package adds legitimate off-road capability. Stellantis View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article 4. Dodge Durango($38,995 base MSRP) The Durango feels like one of the last old-school SUVs standing, and despite its age and unibody design, it remains an absolute towing weapon. Tow RatingUp to 8,700 lbs with the Tow-n-Go package, on V8s. Why It’s SurprisingThis is a midsize SUV with near-full-size towing capacity. Even the base V6 can pull 6,200 pounds. Step up to the Hellcat-equipped Jailbreak (yes, it still exists), and you get a 710-hp family missile rated to tow nearly nine grand. Good ForHorse trailers, medium-size campers, boats; anything most families would realistically haul without upgrading to a truck. It’s a bit of a dinosaur, but in the best way possible. Land Rover View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article 3. Land Rover Defender 130($73,130 base MSRP) Yes, a Defender. It sounds odd until you remember that Land Rover builds its vehicles expecting them to tow across continents. Tow Rating8,200–8,201 lbs, when properly equipped. Why It’s SurprisingThe Defender name conjures images of off-road adventure, not towing. Yet the Defender 130 is one of the smoothest, most confidence-inspiring tow vehicles I’ve ever driven. Much of that comes from: Advanced Tow Assist (handles steering inputs while reversing a trailer)3D Surround Camera (excellent for hitching and maneuvering)Air Suspension (levels loads and smooths out bouncy trailers)The P400 I6 mild-hybrid is buttery smooth, and the 8-speed auto is perfectly tuned. Hyundai View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article 2. 2026 Hyundai Palisade XRT($51,110 as tested) One of the biggest surprises here — and the one most buyers would never expect — is the Palisade XRT. The all-new 2026 model now packs an impressive suite of towing-specific tools. Tow RatingUp to 5,000 lbs (with trailer brakes). Why It’s SurprisingOn paper, the rating is modest. But its towing interface, software, and driver aids make it shockingly competent for drivers who aren’t used to towing. For 2026: The infotainment system now lets you input trailer size/weight (light/medium/heavy)Pre-wiring for brake controllers is built inA customizable towing screen lets drivers monitor critical informationTrailer Sway Control and Tow Mode come standardThe V6 (either the 3.8L or new 3.5L XRT Pro) delivers solid torque and predictable behavior under load. Jeep Grand Wagoneer($84,945 base MSRP) The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a luxury barge with the heart of a workhorse — and one of the most capable full-size SUVs ever built for towing. Tow RatingUp to 10,000 lbs, properly equipped. Why It’s SurprisingIt delivers best-in-class towing while simultaneously offering one of the nicest interiors money can buy. Only the Escalade matches it for cabin luxury. Under the hood: 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo I6 (420 hp / 468 lb-ft)Standard 4x4 capabilityQuadra-Lift Air Suspension for load levelingHeavy-duty cooling & drivetrain systems engineered specifically for sustained towingGood ForFull-size RVs, car haulers, large boats, horse trailers — serious towing where stability and comfort matter. This is the SUV for those who tow a lot, tow heavy, and tow far. Mercedes-Benz Honorable Mention: Mercedes-Benz E450 All-Terrain Wagon Not an SUV, but it's worth noting. With a 4,629-lb tow rating, plush interior, and athletic road manners, the E450 All-Terrain shows what a luxury wagon can still do. It’s also one of the most enjoyable long-distance tow vehicles on the road… assuming your trailer is sized appropriately. Stellantis Stellantis View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article Final ThoughtsNone of these vehicles screams “tow rig” at first glance, yet each one delivers real capability backed by thoughtful towing tools, from advanced software to air suspension to built-in trailer stability systems. Just make sure you install a proper trailer brake controller (dealer or factory, when available). Every vehicle on this list is prepped for one - and towing at the upper limits without it is unsafe and, in many states, illegal. Sick Week Day 0 Video: This has NEVER happened at Sick Week. Freezing Temps In Florida, YES FREEZING TEMPS!
Given that everyone in the country seems to have experienced some level of freezing in the past week or so, I’m kind of entertained by the shock that some Sick Week competitors expressed when they encountered freezing temps for Day 0 of Sick Week 2026. With that said, it is a first for this event, although there have been plenty of bad weather days in the history of this event. We spent many days in cold and rain on Sick Week #1 and the tradition continues! Check out this video from Sick Week 2026 as Day 0 testing is highlighted below. Video Description: Sick Week 2026 kicked off with Day 0 under conditions we’ve never seen before — below-freezing temperatures in Florida. Day 0 is the check-in and test day, where teams get through tech, make early passes, and start dialing in their cars before the drag-and-drive portion officially begins. Sick Week brings some of the fastest street cars in the country together for a full week of racing across multiple tracks, and this year it started with cold air, cold pavement, and a whole new challenge right from the start. Ram Dakota Will Be A $40,000 Midsize Pickup That Does Real Truck Work
Ram needs to diversify its truck lineup, and the only way to do so is to fill the space below its bread-and-butter model, the full-size light-duty 1500. That means it has to expand into the midsize and possibly compact truck segments, just like Ford did with the Ranger and Maverick. CEO Tim Kuniskis is well aware of that, which is why he has been talking about Ram bringing a midsize truck to market for quite a while now. But the executive knows that in order to make it in the midsize truck segment, Ram has to come up with a very capable pickup at a very competitive price. Why The $40,000 Target Price Is Really Important Ram Speaking with The Drive recently, Kuniskis has revealed some interesting details about the upcoming Ram Dakota, which has already been confirmed for launch in 2027. A very important goal Ram needs to meet with the Dakota is the starting price, which should be around $40,000. But why $40,000 when America’s best-selling midsize truck, the Toyota Tacoma, starts around $31,500 before destination charges? Well, Kuniskis argues that things worked out pretty well for Ram when it sold the 1500 Classic (DS) in parallel with the new 1500 (DT). “We really had a sweet spot in the industry where we had the old truck and the new truck, and the old truck was competing at a price point, quite frankly, wasn’t that far away from the midsize segment,” Kuniskis said. The 2024 Ram 1500 Classic retailed for almost $39,000 in base Tradesman trim. The $40,000 price target also aligns with parent company Stellantis’ strategy to bring new-car prices under $40,000 with smaller, cheaper vehicles aimed at everyday buyers. The Dakota was among the new models CEO Antonio Filosa mentioned when announcing plans to bring new-car prices down. Real Truck Towing And Payload Are Must-Haves Ram While the strategy of selling the previous-gen 1500 alongside the current one allowed Ram to “capitalize on a half-million unit segment with all the capability, size, and functionality of a full-size truck,” those days are now gone, Kuniskis admitted. Without a midsize offering, Ram isn’t even covering a “third of the battleground,” which is how he refers to the overall U.S. pickup truck market. A midsize pickup will help Ram expand its market share, but only if it’s a real truck, Kuniskis emphasized. “It needs to be a proper truck. It needs to have the towing capabilities, needs to have the payload. It needs to have everything that a truck buyer is looking for. It can’t be, you know, a car that you put a bed on,” Ram’s CEO noted. Electrification Seems Probable, V8 Unlikely Ram Obviously, the engine will play a big part in that, but Kuniskis wouldn’t reveal any powertrain details, though he noted that hybrids are becoming “a really important sweet spot in the industry.” That should not be taken as confirmation that the Dakota will feature electrification, Kuniskis insisted, though he appeared to send mixed signals. “So, do we need one in the midsize truck? I don’t know, TBD, we’ll see,” he added. If Ram is serious about competing with the Toyota Tacoma, it'll probably need some form of electrification, whether of the mild-hybrid, full-hybrid or plug-in hybrid flavor. What about a V8, then? “I don’t know that it needs a V8,” Kuniskis replied. Given the executive’s statements, it's safe to say the forthcoming Ram Dakota is envisioned as a “baby 1500” focused on daily utility, payload and towing, enabled by rugged body-on-frame construction and potent powertrains. The Scout Truck Everyone Wants Is the One Getting the Company Sued
The Lawsuit Nobody Saw ComingDealers are suing Scout Motors in numerous states, arguing the company is violating traditional franchising laws by selling directly to customers. Many U.S. states have carved out exceptions in their traditional auto franchise laws that let manufacturers with no existing dealer network — typically EV-only brands — sell vehicles directly to consumers without independent dealerships, a model pioneered by Tesla and increasingly sought by newcomers like Rivian and Lucid. Dealers contend that none of the upcoming Scout models would be exempt from the traditional franchise agreement based on what they claim are "technical" loopholes for electric vehicles; loopholes that are becoming increasingly relevant as reservation data rolls in. Buyer preference for the range-extended versions began to reveal a pattern that undermines Scout’s claims of being a purely electric brand, at least as far as dealers are concerned. When Customers Choose Against the Company LineScout initially positioned itself as an electric vehicle manufacturer, with its SUV and truck models pitched primarily as battery-electric vehicles. A range extender option with a gas engine to charge its onboard battery was also available. However, as dealers note, Scout has had a very high percentage of reservation holders (more than 85%) choose the range extender version versus the all-battery version, which puts Scout in an increasingly uncomfortable legal position. With such a large share of vehicles relying on gasoline engines, whether they directly drive the vehicle or just charge the battery, it makes it increasingly difficult to call those models "electric" only. The range-extender technology is based on a series hybrid system. The gasoline engine only provides power to an onboard generator that provides electricity to the battery pack, which drives the motors. There is no mechanical connection between the combustion engine and the wheels. This type of engineering design allows Scout to technically classify the vehicles as electric. Scout Motors The Irony Dealers Couldn't Have Scripted BetterVolkswagen's franchise partners likely didn't anticipate consumer preferences would strengthen their case so dramatically. They're essentially arguing that Scout shouldn't receive special treatment for selling vehicles that rely on gasoline infrastructure. Customer reservation data suggests they might be right about how buyers view these trucks. The lawsuit may ultimately decide whether technical classification or practical reliance on gasoline matters more in determining which manufacturers can qualify under current exemptions. Scout argues its vehicles are electric vehicles with ICE-powered range-extenders, while dealerships argue that any vehicle that requires gas does not meet the definition of "battery only". Meanwhile, reservation holders seem perfectly content with their choice, blissfully unaware that their preferences might reshape automotive retail precedent before their trucks even arrive. Brabus Builds Its First Lamborghini, and the Result Is Pure Excess
Brabus Meets the Urus SEThe Lamborghini Urus SE already stretches the definition of a luxury SUV and is the brand's best-selling vehicle. Its twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid setup delivers serious performance with electric assistance, positioning it as the most advanced Urus yet. From the factory, it is fast, expensive, and visually aggressive, even before options are considered. That still wasn’t enough for Brabus. Best known for dominating the Mercedes-AMG tuning world, Brabus has now applied its philosophy to a Lamborghini for the first time. The Brabus 900 Mint is not a light refresh or a simple power upgrade. It is a full rework of the Urus SE, designed to be louder, faster, and far more exclusive than anything wearing a factory Lamborghini badge. The Recipes for ExcessThe visual changes are immediate and unapologetic. The Brabus 900 Mint features a full exposed-carbon widebody, redesigned bumpers, aggressive aero elements, and massive wheels pushed outward for maximum stance. The Mint paint finish is the defining feature. Bright, pastel, and impossible to miss, it turns the Urus into a rolling attention magnet. Subtlety was clearly not on the checklist. Inside, Brabus continues the theme with a heavily customized cabin. Quilted leather, Dinamica upholstery, and carbon fiber dominate the interior, all accented to match the Mint exterior. The craftsmanship is high, but the goal is clear. This is not meant to blend in or feel understated. It is designed to remind occupants they are sitting in something far removed from a standard production SUV. Under the hood, Brabus extracts a combined 900 metric horsepower (888 hp) and 922 lb-ft of torque from the Urus SE’s hybrid V8 powertrain. That translates to supercar-level acceleration and a claimed top speed of nearly 194 mph. The plug-in hybrid system remains intact, but efficiency is secondary. This is a performance-first build, using electrification to amplify excess rather than rein it in. Brabus View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article You Can Never Go Wrong With BlackThe Brabus 900 Mint is aimed squarely at collectors and high-net-worth buyers who already own a Urus, and likely several other super SUVs. With pricing around $700,000, this is not about value or practicality. It is about owning something rare, visually outrageous, and mechanically extreme. The Mint finish ensures it will never be mistaken for anything else. For buyers who prefer their madness delivered with less visual volume, Brabus offers another option. It’s called Superblack. Mechanically identical to the Mint version, it retains the same 900-hp output and carbon-heavy bodywork. The difference is the presentation. Everything is finished in black, trading brightness for a more menacing, stealth-focused look. In either form, the message is the same. Brabus did not cautiously step into Lamborghini territory. It kicked the door open. The Urus SE was already excessive by design. Brabus simply pushed it further, proving that even in the world of high-performance SUVs, there is always room for more power, more carbon, and far less restraint. A $21 Million McLaren F1 GTR Longtail Is Heading to a Private RM Sotheby’s Sale
A rare 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail is heading to an RM Sothebys Sealed sale in March, with market chatter putting the potential result near the $21,000,000 mark. The car is chassis 027R, a works era longtail built for top level GT racing, and the Sealed format is designed to attract serious collectors who prefer private bidding over a live room spectacle. View the 1 images of this gallery on the original article Rare Longtail With Real Race HistoryRM Sothebys describes 027R as one of 28 McLaren F1 GTRs built, and one of only 10 longtail examples produced for the 1997 specification. It was delivered new to Parabolica Motorsports and won on its first outing at the 1997 British GT season opener at Silverstone, a result often cited as the first win for a longtail bodied F1 GTR. The car also ran the 1997 FIA GT Championship season with multiple top six finishes, and it appeared at the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans under Team Lark McLaren. RM Sothebys also lists later British GT use and a long period of careful stewardship, which matters because these cars are valued as much for documented identity as they are for mechanical condition. View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article Road Legal Conversion Adds UsabilityUnlike many period GT racers, this car has been restored and converted for road use by Lanzante, which is a key detail for buyers who want a usable halo piece rather than a track only artifact. RM Sothebys notes recent attention from Lanzante as well, which helps support the idea that the car is being presented as ready for both display and selective driving. A road legal longtail with meaningful history sits in a very narrow lane, and that lane is where numbers can stretch. RM Sothebys Why The Sealed Format Could MatterThis sale runs March 5 through March 12, and the Sealed structure keeps bids private, with the final price typically treated as confidential by the auction house. RM Sothebys also promotes the format as having no buyers premium, which can change how bidders think about their top number, since the hammer figure is closer to the true out the door cost. If the talk of $21,000,000 holds, it would slot alongside recent headline results and contemporary track specials. View the full article

Porsche’s Electric Cayenne Enters Production With a Battery It Builds Itself
Porsche says production of the Cayenne Electric is now underway, and it is using the launch to expand how much of the battery system it designs and builds itself. The company is positioning the move as a manufacturing milestone and a technical one, because the Cayenne is a high volume nameplate and the battery pack is being treated as a core performance component rather than a sourced commodity. View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article Production Starts In SlovakiaPorsche says the Cayenne Electric is being built in Bratislava on a flexible line that also produces combustion and hybrid Cayenne models, which allows output to shift with demand rather than locking the plant into a single powertrain. The early spotlight has landed on higher output versions, but the key update is that the vehicle has moved from development to series build, which is where quality, supply stability, and ramp speed start to matter as much as peak performance. A Battery Built In HousePorsche says the Cayenne Electric uses battery modules developed and manufactured in house, with module production centered at its Smart Battery Shop in Horna Streda. The company lists a gross battery capacity of 113 kWh, and says the pack uses a function integrated design that supports the vehicle structure while helping manage weight and center of gravity. Porsche describes the pack as using six modules and 192 large pouch cells, and it calls out chemistry choices that include an anode that is mostly graphite with six percent silicon and a cathode based on NMCA with 86 percent nickel, which it ties to energy density and fast charging behavior. Thermal management is also a headline, because Porsche says the Cayenne Electric uses two cooling plates for the first time, which allows cooling and heating from above and below to hold the battery closer to its ideal temperature window. Porsche also says the battery energy density is about seven percent higher than the Taycan battery, and it links that progress to lessons learned from high stress electric motorsport development. What It Means For BuyersFor shoppers, the practical takeaway is that Porsche is betting the Cayenne Electric can compete on real world usability while still delivering the brand feel buyers expect, and it is doing that by tightening control over the battery, the software, and the production process. A 113 kWh pack and an in house module strategy suggest Porsche is aiming for repeatable performance and charging consistency at scale, not just one standout spec. The competitive set will be direct and expensive, where range, charging, packaging, and price will decide winners as much as horsepower. View the full article

BROCK HEGER DOMINATES AT KING OF THE HAMMERS
POLARIS’ RZR FACTORY RACING DRIVER BROCK HEGER DOMINATES AT KING OF THE HAMMERS® TOYO DESERT CHALLENGE FOR THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR, SECURING UTV OVERALL WIN Carrying his momentum straight from another victorious Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, RZR Factory Racing’s Brock Heger opened the 2026 UTV season in dominant fashion by once again conquering the King of the Hammers (KOH)® Desert Challenge. At the 7th annual Desert Challenge this past Saturday in Johnson Valley, Heger delivered a flawless performance behind the wheel of his Polaris RZR Pro R Factory to secure the overall UTV Open class victory during the Limited Race. The win marked Heger’s third consecutive Desert Challenge victory, continuing his unmatched run of success at one of off-road racing’s toughest proving grounds. In addition to Heger’s victory, Polaris racers in the RZR Pro R delivered a standout performance, earning two podium finishes and six top ten results. Chaden Minder secured a third-place podium behind Heger, followed closely by Sebastian Marques in fourth and RZR Factory Racing teammate Ethan Groom in fifth in his first full-time appearance behind the wheel of the RZR Pro R Factory. Branden Sims added a ninth-place finish, with Sierra Romo rounding out the top ten. Following an intense qualifying session, Heger lined up second, with Ethan Groom starting sixth and Joe Terrana in the orange car qualifying eighth. The four-lap race unfolded as planned, with Heger quickly charging into the lead and never looking back. He went on to deliver a dominant wire-to-wire performance, with the RZR Pro R Factory showcasing its speed and reliability over the 250-mile event to finish more than nine minutes ahead of the second overall UTV. Behind Heger, Polaris drivers maintained a strong pace through the opening half of the race as the evolving dynamics of the event reshaped the running order in the closing stages. With his grassroots program, Chaden Minder delivered a breakthrough performance, charging to an impressive third-place UTV overall finish. After qualifying 22nd, Minder fought his way through the field, going wheel-to-wheel with the factory-backed racers. His performance highlighted the power, strength, and durability of the RZR Pro R platform, proving its ability to perform in some of the toughest conditions in off-road racing. Similarly, Polaris privateer Sebastian Marquez also had a strong showing in his RZR Pro R, landing fourth. Behind them, Groom ran consistently inside the top three early before slipping back late, ultimately regrouping to secure a fifth-place finish. Starting 30th on the grid, Cayden MacCachren delivered one of the strongest drives of the race, charging through the field to cross the line in an unofficial third. Post-race review later adjusted the results after it was determined he had inadvertently missed a virtual checkpoint, an occurrence that affected multiple competitors, resulting in an 11th-place classification. “It feels great to start the season with this kind of momentum,” said Heger. “Coming straight from Dakar and barely getting adjusted back, then jumping into a race as demanding as King of the Hammers® makes this win so rewarding. Like we’ve done the past few years, we were able to qualify well, get to the front early, and then control the race, which is all you can ask for. This race is an all-out sprint through the desert and my RZR Pro R Factory performed incredibly, delivering the power that I needed while the suspension flawlessly absorbed the intense whoops and terrain of the desert. Now it’s time to set our sights on the rock race this week.” “King of the Hammers always delivers drama and challenge, and this year was no exception,” said Alex Scheuerell, Polaris’ Director of Off-Road Motorsports. “When the dust settled, Brock drove an incredible race to bring home the trophy once again for Polaris. His ability to shift between disciplines and dominate at the highest level is truly remarkable. Beyond Brock’s win, it was a standout day for Polaris and the RZR Pro R, with our drivers securing six of the top ten UTV spots overall and showing just how capable these machines are across the toughest terrain in the sport.” RZR Factory Racing still has more work to do in Johnson Valley this week, as Heger and CJ Greaves will take their skills to the Can-Am UTV Hammers Championship Race Rock on Thursday, February 5 behind the wheel of modified Gen 1 RZR Pro R Factory machines that have been specifically tuned to conquer the rock-strewn terrain, including the iconic Chocolate Thunder. “GREY BULLET” RX9 DESTROYS ROTARY RECORD
Less than eight weeks after Edwin Burgos posted the first-ever five-second rotary-powered quarter-mile, Joel Olivo watched his Siquitraqui Motorsports “Grey Bullet” 2021 Mazda RX9 surpass the 5.956 world record held by the “Loquito Killer” RX8 with a blistering 5.935 at Orlando SpeedWorld in Bithlo, Florida. With renowned import racer Juan “Juanchy” Illanas at the wheel, Olivo’s machine made history in multiple areas. The first run under six seconds was produced by a three-rotor engine (20B) while the Olivo/Illanas braintrust used a two-rotor (13B) Wankel to claim the new record. Olivo, the man behind Siquitraqui Motorsports in Puerto Rico, usually drives his new RX9, but for this test session, he stated, “I had to work from outside to accomplish this”, and put the trusted Illanas in the cage of the Choli Race Works chassis. Using a 13B Mazda engine from Moncho Performance equipped with a new Precision Next Gen XPR turbocharger on the 2-rotor engine, Pito Tuning controlled the 79-cubic inch screamer through an amazing series of runs during the session. Starting with a 6.09, the immaculate uncluttered Mazda ran 6.06 and 6.01 while clocking a staggering 0.943 sixty-feet elapsed time. The 5.935 came with another new world record of 3.843 seconds in the eighth-mile, a full five hundredths of a second quicker than the three-rotor (20B) record holder of Burgos. Oliva and Illanas just missed Australian George Rehayem’s 20B world speed record of 237.63 mph while hitting a best of 236.94. The “Grey Bullet” team also fell short of the 190.67 mph record eighth-mile speed of Burgos with their own 186.46. However, it appears the battle is only beginning between the 20B and 13B “killer bees”! The post “GREY BULLET” RX9 DESTROYS ROTARY RECORD first appeared on Drag Illustrated. View the full article

Industry Spotlight: Off-Road Travel TV
Off-Road Travel TV stands as the only weekly cable television program dedicated exclusively to off-road adventure travel and the overland lifestyle. Each week, the show transports viewers to spectacular remote locations while showcasing the latest gear and accessories that make the modern overland lifestyle so popular and appealing. The show’s journey actually began in 2022 with a trip to the Overland Expo PNW. Until then, the project had been a conceptual idea shared by co-founders Mark Mitchell and Ken Faught. Mitchell encouraged Faught to attend the expo to immerse himself in the excitement of the overland world and refine the concept of a television show focused on that lifestyle. Faught subsequently loaded up his Sprinter van with his 18-year-old son, Wyatt, and set off for Redmond, Oregon. They immersed themselves in the overland lifestyle and the experience made such a profound impression that the pair extended their weekend trip into a two-week van adventure across the western states, returning with a renewed fire to move the project forward. default After two years of preparation and hard work, the vision of Off-Road Travel TV became a reality in early 2024 when the founders signed a two-year deal with MAVTV (now the RACER network). Aiming for a memorable debut season, the team decides to embark on an epic, two-month-long, 8,000-mile journey titled “Glaciers to Geysers: A Tale of Fire and Ice.” On the way to Alaska and back, this 8-week expedition took the crew through Oregon, British Columbia, Alberta, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Arizona, proving that world-class overland and off-road destinations can often be found close to home. The first season concluded with exciting adventures driving UTVs in Hawaii and riding dirt bikes in Baja, Mexico. READ MORE: AEV FXL is Ready for Big Adventures with 40s The momentum continued into season two, which kicked off with an unforgettable expedition to drive 4×4’s in the otherworldly landscape of Iceland. The production then shifted focus to try our hand on some amazing snow bikes in Montana before moving to the warmer climates of the Virgin Islands to drive UTVs on St Thomas and St John. The adventures continued with a trek to the Arctic Circle on adventure bikes and a wide variety of off-road dirt bike tours and destinations across the western United States. The season concludes with an amazing international trip to Bali, where the team will drive UTVs through this exotic environment. By mixing quality storytelling with stunning visual imagery and lots of dramatic drone footage, Off-Road Travel TV has carved out a unique spot on the RACER network as the only lifestyle program in the lineup. In addition to travel segments, the show features vehicle builds, equipment reviews, and real-world testing of off-road vehicles. This comprehensive approach makes Off-Road Travel TV essential viewing for any adventure-minded traveler looking for new adventures or the latest in gear and products. Season two is already up and running and Off-Road Travel TV just extended their network contract for an additional two years meaning the adventures will continue into 2027 and 2028! Off-Road Travel TV can be seen every Sunday at 9:30 am on the RACER network, with multiple re-airs scheduled throughout the week. LEARN MORE View the full article

Wet bath design with shower, toilet, and sink in one efficient space—made for real-world travel days. Starting at $69,850 BUY NOW BRS Offroad — Sherpa Gen 3 BRS Offroad has spent more than a decade designing and manufacturing serious off-road campers in Australia, refining its approach in some of the harshest and most remote terrain on earth. That hard-earned experience now lives on in the United States, with BRS bringing its manufacturing operations and its deep overlanding heritage to Tennessee. Rather than simply importing an existing design, the brand has developed Americanised versions of its campers, tailored specifically for North American travel, towing platforms, and terrain while retaining the proven DNA that made them successful in Australia. The Sherpa Gen 3 reads less like a camper trailer and more like a thoughtfully engineered mobile basecamp. It’s a rig that feels purpose-built rather than accessorised, designed by people who understand what extended off-grid travel actually demands. From its independent air suspension with Bilstein shocks to its compact, trail-friendly footprint, the Sherpa feels confident on rough terrain, equally capable of threading into remote campsites or settling in for extended stays far from pavement. One of the Sherpa’s defining strengths is how seamlessly it integrates modern technology into real-world overlanding. At the centre is a Garmin-powered control system that manages lighting, power, water, and diagnostics from a single interface or mobile device. Power comes stock standard from a 270-amp lithium battery system, with the ability to expand to 540 amps without compromising interior space or storage, an important detail for travellers running fridges, communications gear, and camera systems around the clock. Cold-weather capability is another area where the Sherpa quietly stands apart. Its diesel heating system provides cabin heat and hot water, while also circulating warmth through an internally heated chassis to protect critical components and plumbing in freezing conditions. Inside, the always-ready queen bed, practical kitchen, and calm, functional layout make the Sherpa genuinely livable, while outside the 270XT Max awning and integrated shower system transform any stop into a capable, comfortable basecamp. The Sherpa Gen 3 isn’t about excess, it’s about confidence, capability and making remote travel accessible. MSRP: $69,900 BUY NOW CBI Offroad Fab — CBI Offroad Bolt-On Rock Sliders CBI Offroad rock sliders provide the ultimate defense for off-road and overland vehicles, offering a seamless blend of rugged protection and practical utility. Each set is engineered to shield vulnerable rocker panels and lower doors from unpredictable hazards like jagged rocks and deep ruts. Unlike basic side steps, these sliders possess the structural integrity to support the vehicle’s entire weight, allowing them to function as secure jacking points or pivot surfaces when navigating tight technical obstacles. By transferring impact away from the body and onto a frame-mounted steel barrier, CBI ensures that demanding trails do not result in costly body damage. The technical foundation of these sliders lies in their high-strength construction, utilizing heavy-duty DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) steel tubing. Every unit is precision-designed and laser-cut to match specific frame geometries, ensuring a precise, bolt-on fit that requires no welding or permanent vehicle modifications. CBI offers several configurations, including “Classic” angled profiles for maximum ground clearance and “Overland” models with flat surfaces and integrated top plates. These plates transform the armor into a functional, non-slip step for safer cabin entry and easier access to roof-mounted gear. Finished for longevity and aesthetics, sliders are available in raw steel or a signature textured black powder coat formulated to resist corrosion and trail wear. Many designs offer a rear “kick-out” to push the vehicle away from obstacles while providing a wider stepping platform. Proudly made in the USA at their Idaho facility, CBI Offroad rock sliders represent a lifetime investment in vehicle protection, giving enthusiasts the confidence to explore deeper into the wild without compromising their rig’s integrity. Starting at $850.00 (varies by vehicle and configuration) BUY NOW CompoCloset — S1 Dry Flush Sealing Toilet The S1 Dry Flush Sealing Toilet was developed for travelers who want a reliable, modern sanitation system that works in real off-grid conditions. Designed by CompoCloset for overland vehicles, vans, and remote camps, the S1 removes the usual trade-offs between hygiene, simplicity, and long-term usability. It delivers a familiar toilet experience without water, chemicals, plumbing, or complex maintenance, making it ideal for extended travel beyond serviced campsites. At the core of the system is a separating design that keeps liquid and solid waste independent. Urine is diverted into a removable bottle, while solid waste is individually sealed using an automated, battery-powered heat-sealing mechanism. This separation reduces odor, improves containment, and significantly extends liner efficiency compared to mixed-waste dry flush toilets. By sealing only solids, the S1 reduces plastic consumption by up to 80% compared to traditional dry flush systems, while offering liners in both compostable and recycled plastic options for lower environmental impact. The sealing mechanism is powered by an internal 12V lithium-ion battery, delivering approximately 40–50 seals per charge. The battery can be recharged via vehicle electrical systems or standard power outlets, allowing flexible integration into a wide range of overland setups. No chemical powders, gel agents, or water are required for operation, keeping both maintenance and ongoing consumable costs low. Built for durability and mobility, the S1 features a rugged ABS housing, stainless steel hardware, waterproof electrical connectors, and integrated carry handles. Its compact footprint allows easy installation in truck campers and van builds while remaining portable for flexible use between camps. For overlanders who prioritize independence, cleanliness, and efficiency, the S1 offers a practical, low-waste sanitation solution that supports longer stays off-grid and greater comfort in remote environments. The Kimbo 6 Truck Camper brings this philosophy to life in a compact, lightweight platform designed for midsize and full-size trucks. It is constructed from a frameless, riveted aluminum shell using 0.1-inch 5052 aluminum, allowing the entire structure to expand and contract as a single material. This monocoque design eliminates common leak points found in multi-material campers and creates a shell that is exceptionally durable, dent-resistant, and repairable. With four-season insulation, double-pane insulated windows, and an available dry-air propane heating system, the Kimbo 6 is built to remain comfortable in rain, snow, wind, or heat. Integrated solar power, a sealed battery system, efficient ventilation, and factory-installed modular components support extended off-grid travel without requiring owner modification. Interior and exterior modules—including kitchen, storage, heating, shower, and power upgrades—are engineered to work together as a cohesive system, providing reliability and ease of use from day one. Compared to the Kimbo Builder configuration, which is designed for hands-on owners who want to complete their own interior build, the Kimbo 6 is fully finished at the factory for travelers who want to load up and head out immediately. The result is a truck camper that balances durability, comfort, and real-world usability—designed to support years of adventure with minimal compromise and maximum trust.
