  1. We’ve shared three of Joe’s great photo galleries so far, but we’ve got plenty more left! If you missed the previous galleries, use the link below to check them all out too. And as always, a big thank you to Joe for sending in such great stuff to share! (Words and Photos by Joe Grippo) Here in the northeast section of the country we are in the deep freeze so most of the fun stuff moves indoors. We took a break from off season race car upgrades and maintenance, and made trip to Lebanon, Pennsylvania to check out the DragFest Indoor Drag Racing Showcase. It’s a great static gathering of drag cars, show cars and more. A few area dragstrips were in attendance handing out 2026 schedules along with a few of the cars that are regulars at their facilities. Numidia Raceway and South Mountain Dragway were set up loud and proud. A bunch of racing clubs displayed member cars and promoted their upcoming appearances. Back Seat Drivers a group of vintage style front engine dragsters and the Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Drag Racing Association (MANDA) each dominated a few of the rooms at the Lebanon Convention Center. This year’s show had some amazing survivors and barn find type stuff. Check out the 1957 Ford with twin carbed Y-Block and Paxton Supercharger, the killer tunnel rammed big block chevy powered ’68 Camaro resplendent in B/MP trim, complete with a quarte window full of Atco Dragway kill stickers! Killer stuff. My favorite machine in show was the Survivor 1971 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler street machine; you can’t miss it in the gallery! A real deal time capsule from the early ‘70’s, this is one of only 353 Spoilers built in 1971, which is special enough, but the wild custom paint job and body work applied in ’73 is mind-blowing. The colors, design layout, and murals kept me coming back to it all day. And don’t sleep on the extra-stuffed diamond tufted custom interior with that crazy console! Dig into the photos for much more! CLICK HERE IF YOU MISSED THE PREVIOUS DRAG FEST PHOTOS WE POSTED! The gang at Motorama Productions put this and other shows on throughout the year. I’ll be hitting a few more soon. 2. We’ve got another gallery to share from the Weekend of Wheels show in Grand Island Nebraska, thanks to Scott Liggett. Scott’s got more photos coming, so stay tuned, and if you missed any of the previous photos you can use the link below to check those out too! (Words and Photos by Scott Liggett) It’s been a while since we added to our small town car show series here at Bang Shift. But, after attending the Weekend Of Wheels this past Saturday, we felt we needed to share the amazing cars we saw there. This year marked the 53rd running of this show in Grand Island, NE. The first 50 years, the Tri-City Street Rods car club ran the show. When they decided 50 years was enough, one of their members took over. Danni Oberg of Knucklehead Garage took on the task and he has been doing an amazing job. If you thought a car show in a small town wouldn’t have much to see, you would be so wrong. Over 200 cars showed up, filling up the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center with some amazing, high quality builds. Check out the galleries to see what those in the middle part of Nebraska have in their collections. Check out our third gallery below, we’ve got more coming! 4. So you think the new ZR1 is fast, but know the ZR1X is an absolute beast? We’ve all been hearing all about what they are both capable of doing, and it is nothing short of amazing. For decades I’ve said that no car beats a brand new Corvette with $10k-20k worth of mods, but now it looks like nothing beats it from the factory. This car is nuts, and this is the ultimate test to see just how nuts is nuts. Video Description: World First ZR1X Drag Race! We race the 1250-hp Corvette ZR1X against the reigning quickest car in the world, the Lucid Air Sapphire — against two cars most people would call “fast”: the brand-new BMW M2 CS and Volkswagen Golf R. The C8 Corvette ZR1X has all-wheel drive, mid-engined traction, and a twin-turbo, flat-plane-crank V8 — the full recipe to unseat the current champion: the 1234-hp, electric, Lucid Air Sapphire. We tried to dethrone the Sapphire using a 1500-hp Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, and it didn’t work. We tried again using a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 — and the 5-passenger EV luxury sedan left the Supercharged Hemi for dead. This time, it could be different. Our test Lucid is equipped with optional Pirelli PZero Trofeo RS tires, which will give it a launch advantage relative to our last tests. And the Corvette is equipped with the ZTK track package. Its big wing adds aerodynamic drag, which will slow it down — but at the expense of downforce, which will likely help it put its power to the ground. But chiefly, ZTK includes extra-grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires — and so this is, GM says, the quickest variant of the C8 Corvette on an untreated surface. GM claimed a 8.675-second ¼-mile performance on VHT with the base ZR1X and an 8.95-second run for the ZR1X ZTK on asphalt. Let’s see if our runway test can recreate that performance. Meanwhile, the last Lucid Air Sapphire we tested on a VHT-prepped drag strip managed a 9.002-second run, which means the Corvette could be quicker on VHT. But it only did a 9.1-second run on regular pavement: will the grippy Pirellis help it beat the Corvette? We’ll find out. And for perspective on the difference between a “fast car” and the world’s fastest-accelerating cars, we’ve brought along the hottest hot-hatch you can buy in America, the 328-hp, all-wheel drive Mk8.5 VW Golf R. And the quickest and most powerful small BMW, the 523-hp 2026 M2 CS. We’ll give the two “fast cars” a big advantage: the Volkswagen will have a football field’s head start, and the M2 will start at the same time as the 1200+ horsepower cars, with one less football field to cover. As always, Cammisa’s Ultimate Drag Race Replay uses instrumented testing gear and scientific methods to show you the world’s most perfect drag race — on regular asphalt, not a specially prepped, VHT-sprayed drag strip. This means you get a scientific, real-world result without those other guys’ “oops, I messed up the launch, so now we’ll never know which is truly faster.” And spoiler alert: this race is so close, even our GPS test gear couldn’t tell us which car won. 5. We’ve featured several Ironworks Speed and Kustom built cars here at BANGshift over the last couple of years, and with good reason. Roger and the crew at Ironworks Speed and Kustom have been building cars in Bakersfield California for decades, and we’ve seen all kinds of rides roll out of this place over the years. Street rods, hot rods, muscle cars, classics, and even some VWs. They’ve done their fair share of trucks as well, with almost everything done in house. Roger is pretty particular on their builds, putting Ironworks’ stamp on everything they touch, so that the owners of these rides end up with something that is unique and truly custom. It’s not cheap to have a car built nowadays, and especially at this level. A 1966 Chevelle is my favorite mid-size Chevelle, and this one is certainly something special. With a Magnuson Supercharged LT4 under the hood, and a Tremec Magnum 6-Speed backing it up, you know this thing will be fun to drive. And there are tons of custom touches on this car, whether it is the sheet metal inside, outside, or underneath. Plus a ton of work on chrome and bright work to make it look custom, but with a nod toward maybe being what GM might have done if they weren’t building a production car. It’s cool as hell. Check it out below. The post Video Car Feature: Check Out Bill’s Ironworks Speed And Kustom Built, LT4 Powered, Pro Touring 1966 Chevelle. appeared first on BangShift.com. View the full article

  19. Bruno Massel and Stockseth Racing have announced a renewed partnership for the 2026 NHRA season that will once again feature Outlaw Light Beer branding on Massel’s race car, made possible through the continued support of Mark Stockseth. Stockseth previously sponsored Massel’s Pro Stock campaigns during the 2020 and 2021 NHRA seasons. In 2024, Stockseth assembled a program that brought Outlaw Light Beer into NHRA Pro Stock competition for the first time with Jeg Coughlin Jr. and Jerry Tucker, before expanding the partnership to include Massel and his Comp Eliminator program. That partnership delivered immediate results, as Massel captured his 19th NHRA National Event victory at the NHRA Brainerd Nationals – the first event in which he carried the Outlaw Light Beer logo. Following that success, Stockseth has once again stepped forward in 2026 to continue the relationship, ensuring Outlaw Light Beer remains part of Massel’s NHRA Comp Eliminator program. “I’m thrilled to work with Mark and the folks at Outlaw Beer once again,” said Massel. “Over the years, Stockseth racing has played an integral role in supporting the likes of Elite Motorsports, Matt and Angie Smith, and Rickie Smith. To be a part of the inner circle is pretty cool to say the least!” Massel is planning to compete at a select number of National events in 2026 that will kick off at his hometown race, the Route 66 Nationals just outside of Chicago. 20. Here’s our last gallery from LST 2026! Man what a great show this is. I hope all of you at home put it on your list for 2027! If you missed our previous galleries, don’t worry because we’ve got a link below for you to check out. If you’ve been waiting for the next one, here it is. (Words and Photos by Chad Reynolds) I hit the Lone Star Throwdown in Conroe Texas this weekend and as usual was blown away by the turnout of great trucks. When I arrived at the just after it opened, I have to admit I was a bit worried. The place was not full. Not by a long shot. Now we normally get down here to the show an hour or so later, so I was trying to convince myself it was going to be okay, but I wasn’t doing a very good job of it. That was until about 10, when a definite increase in the hum around the places started happening and cruise traffic started really increasing. By the time I left the show a few hours later it was hopping as usual. And while the morning started off chilly and overcast, the grounds were in great shape with little or no wet spots from the showers that were expected Friday. And by 10 am I had to take my hoodie off because it was just too warm. It was great weather for a truck show friends. The food trucks were slinging snacks, although I didn’t see the hot chocolate ans s’mores folks from last year that made a killing. It really was a great day at the show. Lone Star Throwdown, or LST as it’s often referred to, is one of the premier custom truck shows in the country, and it happens rain or shine. This show is always one of my favorites. It draws folks from all over the country, along with Canada and Mexico. In 2027 you’ll find us on site with the OBS Suburban project you guys don’t know about yet. And maybe a merch stand, who knows. Here is our seventh gallery of photos, with more coming over the next several days. Check back tomorrow for more! 22. Here we go! NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing is some of the finest on the planet. Sportsman Drag Racing is the lifeblood of drag racing, drag strips, and the hobby in general, so when NHRA announced that they were sharing a complete highlights video from this past weekend’s Gatornationals in Florida, we were excited. If you are fan of NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing, then watch this. Video Description: In addition to the exciting Mission Drag Racing Series action at the season-opening Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, nine winners were also crowned in the Lucas Oil classes, led by Super Comp champ Kelly Kundratic, who scored the 400th win by a female in NHRA national event competition. After scoring his first Top Alcohol Dragster win late last season, Jamie Noonan didn’t wait long to add a second victory as the alcohol-class engine builder powered to victory over Anthony Troyer in a title 5.24 to 5.25 final-round clash. Five-time and reigning Top Alcohol Funny Car world champ Sean Bellemeur scored his 49th career win, tying the great Don Prudhomme and Eddie Krawiec and moving to within one win of becoming just the 26th driver to record 50 or more wins, scoring a strong win over past U.S. Nationals champ Chris Foster, 5.43 to 5.48. 2023 Super Stock world champ Peter D’Agnolo scored his second career Comp win and his seventh victory overall, driving his E/SMA ’10 Cobalt to a .003-launched (-.49) 8.41 to chase down No. 1 qualifier Matthew Alvey’s better-but-later (-.53) 8.58. For the 109th time in his amazing career, Dan Fletcher scored an NHRA national event victory. Fletcher drove his Micro Strategies Camaro to the Super Stock title in a double-breakout final against Kent Hanley. Jeff Adkinson used a solid driving performance to claim the sixth win of his career. Adkinson, who was .030 or better on the Tree every round, topped Jim Marshall in the Stock final round with a 9.138 against his 9.15 dial. Kelly Kundratic scored the milestone 400th national event win for a female racer with her breakthrough Super Comp victory in Gainesville. Kundratic, the 107th woman in NHRA history to win a national event, collected the victory on Tim Millwood’s narrow -.003 foul start. Super Gas winner Jason Dewitt backed up his breakthrough first victory from last year’s Gatornationals, winning a double-breakout final-round bout with seven-time tour winner Steven Furr, 9.875 to 9.872. After several near misses, Jackie Bennett claimed his first national event title in Right Trailers Top Dragster by topping Holden Laris in the final round. Bennett kicked off the double-breakout final with a nearly perfect .002 light. A Top 10 finisher the last two years, James Hinkle ran his career record to a perfect 5-0 after beating Bruce Thaxton in the Right Trailers Top Sportsman final. Hinkle finished the job with a 7.301 against his 7.28 dial. 25. In the 1980s and 1990s, there were a ton of custom truck mods involving head lights and tail lights. A couple of the more well known were using Nissan Maxima lights in Nissan 720 pickups and Ford Escort headlights in Mazda B-Series. This was well before people started doing Escalade front clips on OBS trucks and frenched Caddy tail lights out back. There are plenty of others, but the Nissans and Mazdas were real popular at the time so there is a lot that folks were doing to them back then. So when we saw that Brian Jendro, from Jendro’s Chop Shop, was doing a Maxima headlights conversion on a 720 pickup we knew we had to share. Have you seen one done before? Do you remember seeing an Escort light conversion on a Mazda? Check out the Maxima headlight conversion below.
