After installing a set of Terrain Tamer parabolic spring on our 1973 FJ40 Land Cruiser, I’d answer that question with: Close. Astonishingly close. Just one anecdote—when I first took Roseann for a ride after the installation, we’d not even got off our neighborhood byway onto a main street before she said, “Wow.” First, if you’re not familiar with the concept, please read this, then this. I always keep my eye out for interesting—or alarming—vehicles. Recently, while waiting to pick up some steel in Tucson to weld gates for our new place, I noticed this Wrangler mounted with what looked like an  . . . let’s just say impractical . . . combination of large-diameter wheels and low-profile mud terrain tires. Sure enough, the aftermarket wheels were 20 inches in diameter—at least two inches too large for a Wrangler (the Rubicon comes with 17-inch wheels)—and mounted with Gladiator Comp

So, I moved into the Jeep world in 1996. I started off at a Jeep dealer, and I quickly rose up. I was a shop foreman, working through the service department.
