Lincoln Is Using Aggressive Nautilus Deals to Replace the Corsair
Against the odds, Lincoln managed to increase sales by 2% in 2025. That was a solid result for the luxury brand, especially since it’s down to just three models—the Navigator, Aviator, and Nautilus—after the Corsair was discontinued. Without the Corsair, Lincoln has no vehicle below the $50,000 mark, creating a glaring gap in the manufacturer’s range. But Lincoln has devised a strategy to retain buyers at this lower price point, and current Corsair customers looking to upgrade will benefit from it most. Aggressive Nautilus Finance Deals As a reminder, the Lincoln Corsair had a base price of $39,985, making it the company’s cheapest model. Now that it’s gone, the next best thing is the Nautilus, which starts at $53,995 for the Premiere trim. According to Automotive News, Lincoln will increase the Premiere’s mix to 60% of all Nautilus trims, helping to fill the gap left by the Corsair. But Lincoln will go further than this. It plans to make big private deals available to Corsair customers that are worth thousands of dollars. These deals aim to keep Corsair customers in the Lincoln family by making it more financially appealing to move up to the Nautilus. Lincoln This strategy has been put forward by Joaquin Nuño-Whelan, Lincoln’s president, to grow sales and continue the brand’s current run. “The biggest thing we have is momentum,” said Nuño-Whelan. “We had a great December and January, so we just have to keep that going. There’s a lot of positivity there.” The details of the Nautilus deals are unknown, but current Corsair customers could suddenly find that upgrading to the larger vehicle becomes a lot easier than expected. Dealers Want More Models, Though Lincoln The Nautilus deals can only account for the loss of the Corsair for so long, though. Dealers are aware of this, which is why they still want more models to sell, especially a sedan. The MKZ and elegant Continental were the last Lincoln sedans to be sold in the United States, with both being retired after the 2020 model year. That could change at some point, though, as Ford’s CEO recently acknowledged that sedans could make a comeback. That could extend to the Lincoln brand, too. While many of Lincoln’s rivals have abandoned sedans, that hasn’t been the case for all of them. Cadillac is planning to release a new, gas-powered CT5. Infiniti is also working on an enthusiast-pleasing sedan with a manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive, and a turbocharged V6 engine. “The small, entry-level luxury space is something that is very important,” said Nuño-Whelan last month to Auto News, hinting at a possible Corsair replacement. If it’s a sedan, this model could fill the gap left by the MKZ. Related: Genesis Passed Infiniti In Sales, Is Lincoln Next? Final ThoughtsLincoln had a solid 2025, but it was mostly because of a stand-out year for the full-size Navigator, which saw an increase in sales of just under 43%—sales for every other Lincoln SUV were down. A new Navigator generation debuted for the 2025 model year, and its power, refinement, and endless list of amenities have won over buyers. Lincoln’s task now is to capture that same magic at lower price points. Longer term, it will have to do more than offer attractive deals on the Nautilus; the brand needs a cheaper crossover or sedan at around the $40k mark. Lexus, Acura, and Cadillac all have competitors in this space, catering to consumers in search of affordable luxury. View the full article

Record-Breaking McMurtry Spéirling Headed to Customers with $1.3-Million Sticker
True InnovationWhen it comes to speed, we're at the apex of technology. Mankin's interest in breaking speed records and finding every possible way to be the fastest has driven us forward. We've reached a point in time where 1,000 hp is as normal as having doors on your car. What is sometimes shocking and awe-inspiring is how unique and out-of-the-box certain brands are when it comes to achieving high speeds. One such brand took the motoring world by storm on one of the biggest stages of motorsport. We're talking about McMurtry and its Spéirling, which broke records and gained fans during its record-breaking runs at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. McMurty Opens Production FacilityCelebrating its 10th anniversary, McMurtry is starting to plan the commencement of the production of the Spéirling PURE. The company's new, state-of-the-art facility in Wotton-under-Edge, England, has just opened. This expansion, alongside McMurtry’s existing HQ, will provide the required facilities for production while also enabling McMurtry Automotive plans to expand its model range in future years. What makes the Speirling unique is its unorthodox approach. Firstly, it is a single-seater hypercar powered by an electric motor that generates 1,000 hp. It has a 0-60 mph time of just 1.38 seconds. The Spéirling PURE is a track-only model with a 60 kWh battery that can charge in just 20 mins, ideal for maximising track days. In addition to being a single-seater, the Spéirling generates 4,400 lbs of downforce using two rear-facing fans that spin up to 23,000 rpm. The system was so effective that McMurtry even showcased the Spéirling running upside down on a custom metal-plate rig. The only main downside is that the fans are so noisy, easily breaching 100 decibels. In terms of accolades, the McMurtry Spéirling holds the fastest ever lap recorded on the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb, clocking in a blistering 39.08 seconds. It was set in 2022 and has stood till this day. Other claim to fame moments are when, in 2024, it was the fastest ever car around the Top Gear test track, beating out the Ferrari SF-90. Technology For AllPrices for the McMurtry Speirling PURE start at $1,360,000 (converted) or £995,000 before taxes. The first customer car is expected to be delivered by the summer of 2026. In addition to producing the Speirling PURE, McMurtry announced that it is establishing a Technology arm at the original Swinhay House estate. McMurtry Technology will be responsible for bringing to market and offering internally patented processes, technology, and expertise to other OEM brands. Mainly, it will offer engineering services across five areas of specialisation: Downforce on Demand, Performance Battery Technology, Electric Powertrains, Vehicle Lightweighting, and Vehicle Software. Nissan’s e-Power Tech Is Expanding Into Plug-In Hybrids
Plugless Hybrid Now Getting a PlugNissan’s e-Power system was built as a stepping stone for buyers who want an EV-like drive but aren’t ready to deal with charging. The wheels get their power from an electric motor, while a gasoline engine runs only as a generator. What doesn’t get talked about enough is how much effort Nissan put into the driving experience. Engineers actually benchmarked e-Power against the GT-R, aiming for quick response and smooth power instead of just chasing fuel economy. That approach made e-Power a strong fit in places where charging stations are still rare, or for drivers who want the feel of an EV without needing to plug in. But now, Nissan is changing course. The company has confirmed that e-Power will soon include plug-in versions, combining its series-hybrid setup with plug-in hybrid and extended-range EV options. Nissan Updated Re:Nissan Restructuring PlanAutomotive News first reported the update after Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa spoke with the media. Espinosa has been open about the challenges: EV demand is slowing, charging facilities are still limited, and regulations are squeezing profits. With the Re:Nissan restructuring plan, the focus is shifting to creating each sale count. Having more powertrain options is a big part of that strategy. “We will have derivatives of e-Power that could come in the form of a PHEV or EREV,” Espinosa said, framing it as a practical way to lower fleet emissions without betting everything on full EV adoption. In the US, the first model to get e-Power will be the Rogue, though it’s unclear whether the plug-in e-Power will make it stateside. Right now, the Rogue already has a plug-in hybrid, but that system comes from Mitsubishi, not Nissan. The new e-Power versions will finally show what Nissan’s own hybrid tech can do. Nissan How About China’s Frontier?Nissan also mentioned new electrified pickups for China, including a plug-in Frontier built with partners like Dongfeng and battery supplier CATL. Espinosa suggested this truck could eventually reach Europe, giving Nissan more options in its electrified lineup. Could it show up in other markets? Maybe. But for the US, it’s a long shot. Tariffs and trade issues make it tough to bring a Chinese-built plug-in pickup to America. For now, the Frontier PHEV looks like a solution built for China and nearby regions, not a global model. GM Is Developing Active Aero to Make Corvettes Easier to Drift
Active aerodynamic systems, in which various flaps and/or wings are automatically adjusted based on the requirements of the car to which they are fitted, as and when necessary, are typically created with the goal of improving outright performance. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS, for example, can open or close its rear wing to reduce drag or increase downforce, respectively, but General Motors is looking at active aero from a whole new angle: easier drifting. A new patent filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office describing "active downforce control for drifting maneuvers," first reported on by CarBuzz, details how the idea might be implemented in a future Corvette. GM Puts a New Spin on Active Aero Chevrolet The patent says a vehicle equipped with the technology would have a controller, or onboard computer, capable of connecting to the steering wheel and pedals with sensors to determine how much steering angle is being applied and how far the brake or accelerator pedals are being depressed. The same controller would also communicate with the front and rear movable aero devices. When a drift mode is activated, the vehicle would use the information from the pedals and steering system to determine how much the front and rear splitter and spoiler should be adjusted to maximize accuracy of the slide. Tip the car into a corner, and the controller would not use its stability control system to correct the angle. Instead, when the controller detects aggressive throttle and steering inputs (and minor braking inputs), the splitters and spoilers would move to reduce downforce. General Motors Global Technology Operations/USPTO Presumably, these would be adjusted several times per second for fine control, and it goes without saying that such a system would be most effective at triple-digit speeds, so a user would need to be pretty experienced to take full advantage of the idea. But it could also be used in reverse to prevent a slide. Active Aero for Safer Sideways FunRelated: Insider Reveals 2027 Corvette Grand Sport V8 Engine Will Be Even Bigger Than 6.6 Liters As we allude to above, the system appears to be operated independently of the traction control system, but if the vehicle is not in its drift mode, the same aerodynamic control would surely be operable in reverse, using variations in spoiler and splitter angle to rein in an unwanted slide. Moreover, the patent indicates that further evolutions of the concept could use the onboard navigation system and and/or parking cameras to optimize control depending on a specific environment (hotter air is thinner and therefore more difficult to generate downforce with). And although the patent image depicts a mid-engine vehicle like a Corvette ZR1, the document states that the tech could be applied to "any type of vehicle without departing from the scope of the present disclosure." This is typical patent lingo that protects the innovation from being copied by rivals with other layouts, but it also means the innovation might be developed for something like a future Camaro revival, or an EV like the Lyriq-V. Whether this ever makes production is anyone's guess, but as cars become more powerful, so must the systems responsible for controlling them. Chervrolet View the full article

China’s Auto Boom Is Forcing Honda to Rethink How It Builds Cars
Honda Recentralizes Auto R&DHonda will shift its automobile development operations back under its R&D subsidiary, Honda R&D Co., Ltd., effective April 1, 2026. The move reverses a 2020 reorganization that placed mass-production vehicle development within the parent company to streamline efficiency during a downturn. Honda is now prioritizing speed, integration, and creative autonomy as competition from Chinese automakers intensifies and next-generation technologies reshape the industry. R&D functions from the Automobile Development Operations and the SDV Business Development Unit will be consolidated within Honda R&D. The company aims to create an integrated pipeline that spans advanced research, production model development, and market launch. Honda believes this structure will improve responsiveness to market and technology shifts while restoring a culture of engineering independence. The financial pressure is significant. Honda’s automotive division posted a ¥73 billion, or $468 million, operating loss for the April to September 2025 period. Sales in China also fell 20 percent in 2025 as domestic brands strengthened their position. H Learning From China’s Tech PlaybookHonda’s strategy reflects a broader shift across the industry. Western and Japanese automakers increasingly view China as a benchmark for technology. Ford has explored partnerships with Geely to improve competitiveness in Europe. The focus is on cost-efficient EV platforms and advanced digital integration. Toyota and Nissanhave also studied and adapted Chinese technologies to regain lost ground in China’s domestic market. Some China-market Nissan models now appear more advanced than their global counterparts. This highlights how quickly development cycles and software integration have evolved in China. Chinese manufacturers control major portions of the battery supply chain and excel at vertically integrated software ecosystems. Honda has also gained insight through its Chinese joint ventures. Locally developed concepts and EV platforms demonstrate stronger user interface design and faster electrification timelines. By consolidating development under Honda R&D, the company is attempting to accelerate decision-making and restore technical distinctiveness. Dongfeng Nissan Regulation Slows Adoption, Not ChangeRegulatory challenges complicate the adoption of Chinese-developed technologies in the United States. New federal rules are prompting automakers to remove Chinese-developed software from vehicles due to cybersecurity and national security concerns. These measures limit direct integration of Chinese codebases and digital systems into U.S.-bound products. Adaptation does not require dependence. Many global automakers recognize that Chinese brands excel in rapid product development, aggressive cost control, and software-defined vehicle architecture. Honda’s restructuring suggests it understands that competing in the electrified and intelligent mobility era requires structural and cultural change. Geopolitical realities may restrict direct technology transfer into certain markets. However, the broader lesson remains clear. Chinese automakers have redefined modern automotive execution. Companies that absorb those lessons while navigating regulatory constraints will be better positioned for long-term competitiveness. Chevrolet C8 Corvette E-Ray Gets a Twin-Turbo Makeover With Over 1,500 HP
Turning the Volume All the Way UpWhile Hennessey Performance has been making headlines with its C8 Corvette ZR1 build, Specialty Vehicle Engineering’s take on the platform shouldn’t be overlooked. SVE has reworked the C8 Corvette E-Ray with its 2026 Stage III Yenko/SC package, pushing output to as much as 1,564 horsepower – roughly 900 more than stock. That dramatic increase comes from an extensively reworked 6.2-liter LT2 V8 featuring upgraded internals, including a forged steel crankshaft, forged H-beam connecting rods, and forged 2618 aluminum pistons. The engine is also equipped with twin water-cooled Garrett 58 mm ceramic ball-bearing turbochargers, allowing it to generate over 1,500 horsepower on E85 fuel. That figure is roughly 300 horsepower more than even the nameplate’s most extreme factory variant, the Corvette ZR1X. Chevrolet Built to Handle the MadnessThe upgrades aren’t limited to the engine, which, from the factory, is paired with an electric motor and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system – something previous-generation Corvettes would never have foreseen. To support the added output, SVE installed upgraded high- and low-pressure fuel systems, along with a reinforced Stage III 8/9 dual-clutch transmission that enables the gearbox to cope with the substantial increase in power. The New Jersey–based shop, which produced a 1,000-horsepower Chevrolet Silverado last year, also offers forged and CNC-machined lightweight wheels measuring 20 inches up front and 21 inches at the rear, as well as Yenko-badged brake calipers and an optional high-flow exhaust that the company strongly recommends. Inside, buyers can select from several badging options, including twin-turbo graphics on the floor mats and SYC-embroidered headrests. Additional options include a chassis-mounted Z06-style rear wing, custom-color SYC logo center caps, and a clear engine bay for the Corvette E-Ray convertible, among others. Chevrolet Power Like This Doesn’t Come CheapProduction will be limited to just 50 units, though Specialty Vehicle Engineering didn't disclose pricing. Each build is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile engine and twin-turbo assembly limited warranty, along with a 3-year/36,000-mile non-powertrain component limited warranty. For reference, the C8 Corvette E-Ray already starts at around $108,600, meaning final pricing with the 1,564-horsepower upgrade is expected to be even more eye-watering. In Chevy’s lineup, the Corvette E-Ray slots between the base Corvette Stingray and the Corvette Z06, with a rumored Corvette Grand Sport trim for the C8 platform expected to sit above the Stingray. BYD’s Flagship SUV Leaks as a 784-HP, Ultra-Luxury Land Cruiser Rival
Dynasty MindsetThere's no doubt about it, when it comes to Chinese car manufacturers, BYD is number 1. While America continues to shun these brands, BYD has expanded into every region, slowly chipping away at their market share in each country. The reason for its success is that it offers very affordable, decent-quality models. There is, though, still a certain level within the brand that caters to the more affluent individuals, and these cars are categorized as "Dynasty line" models – and the flagship model will be called the Great Tang. MIIT The Great TangWe all know how much China respects its dynastic history, and BYD felt it only fitting to use these dynasties as the distinguishing names of its top-flight models. It's now making the rounds online that the new flagship of the BYD Dynasty series has been leaked and already reported on by numerous Chinese auto publications, including Car News China. Based on the reports, the leaks have come from filings made in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The report highlights some telling information about the BYD Great Tang, a full-sized flagship SUV in the class and size of the Land Cruiser 300. For reference, the Great Tang will be approximately 207 inches long and have a gross weight of 7,154 lbs. Shuffling all that heft will be two engine choices. First is a rear-wheel-drive 400-hp variant, or a 496-hp single-motor electric configuration. There will, of course, be a dual-motor option that puts out 784 hp (combined). Another key highlight of the powertrain is its potential for 1,000 kW charging. In terms of design, the Great Tang debuts a new design language that updates the current line. Still recognizable is the headlight cluster found in most BYD pure EV models. The grille for the Great Tang is now closed off, with a cleaner front fascia that really only features the Tang logo in Chinese writing. Other elements include the vertical air ducts on the front bumper, semi-hidden door handles (fully hidden door handles are now banned in China), and a full taillight cluster at the rear. MIIT Lidar Takes The StageApart from Tesla, Chinese manufacturers have become quite the experts in autonomous driving technology. I've experienced them firsthand, and I can say that they do it well. Each brand has its own distinctive version; BYD's is called the Gods Eye, which will be included in the Great Tang. We're just not sure how much more updated the system will be in terms of capabilities compared to the current models. The Great Tang is expected to debut within the first half of the year, with a high price tag of around $57,000 (converted). Tesla Semi Finally Enters Mass Production This Year With Final Specs Revealed
The world has known about the Tesla Semi for the better part of a decade, as the Class 8 electric truck was unveiled in November 2017 at an event where the Tesla Roadster sports car was also introduced. Fast forward to 2026 and neither the Tesla Semi nor the Roadster have entered mass-production yet, despite ambitious start-of-production targets (2019 for the Semi) that Tesla invariably broke on several occasions. Well, it looks like the Semi, which received a facelift in November 2025 (see main image above) may finally enter high-volume production this year, at least according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. “The Tesla Semi starts high volume production this year,” Musk wrote in a post on X, the social media platform he owns. Tesla Semi starts high volume production this year https://t.co/yZLDmkA9EP — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 8, 2026 The announcement comes as Tesla updated the page dedicated to the Semi on its official website, which now features a “Deliveries start in 2026” message. The Semi webpage also includes what appear to be the final specifications for the production Semi, which will be offered in two variants–Standard Range and Long Range. Tesla Semi Standard Range: 325 Miles The Tesla Semi Standard Range will offer 325 miles of range fully loaded, that is with a Gross Combination Weight (GCW) of 82,000 lbs; the truck itself weighs under 20,000 lbs (curb weight), which means the payload should be around 62,000 lbs. Tesla says the entry-level Semi will have three independent motors on the rear axles offering a total of 800 kW (1,072 hp) of drive power. The Semi Standard Range has an energy consumption of 1.7-kWh/mile and is capable of reaching 60% state of charge (SoC) in 30 minutes at a Tesla Megacharger thanks to the Megawatt Charging System (MCS 3.2) standard that enables a peak charging speed of 1.2 MW (1,200 kW). Finally, the Tesla Semi Standard Range also offers an Electric Power Take Off (ePTO) up to 25 kW, which means it can provide high-voltage power from the battery pack to operate auxiliary equipment like hydraulic pumps, heating or cooling. Tesla Semi Long Range: 500 Miles Tesla The Long Range model offers an estimated range of 500 miles on a single charge, which suggests it’s got a much larger battery pack than the Standard Range model. While Tesla is still keeping battery size information secret, the 1.7 kWh/mile energy consumption rating (identical with the Semi SR) suggests the battery pack for the Semi LR is around 900 kWh. The Tesla Semi Long Range also features an 800-kW tri-motor drive system and identical 1.7 kWh/mile energy consumption, despite a slightly higher curb weight of 23,000 lbs because of the larger battery pack; the GCW rating is the same at 82,000 lbs, but the payload is smaller than the Semi SR at 59,000 lbs. Nothing changes when it comes to charging specs, though, with the Semi LR reaching 60% SoC in 30 minutes via MCS 3.2 charging with 1.2 MW peak charging speed capability. This version also features Electric Power Take Off (ePTO) up to 25 kW. How Much Will It Cost? Tesla started low-volume production of the Semi in late 2022, when the first units were delivered to PepsiCo to use as part of an exclusive pilot. Since then, other companies including Walmart and DHL Supply Chain have taken delivery of at least one Tesla Semi, but Tesla never disclosed sales prices. When Tesla first unveiled the Semi in 2017, it said the truck would cost $150,000 and $180,000 for 300-mile and 500-mile versions, respectively. Unsurprisingly, those prices will likely see big adjustments almost 10 years later. Tesla Semi customer Ryder last year offered a clue regarding a big price increase when it announced it was going to reduce its order from 42 to 18 Semis while maintaining its original $7.5 million commitment, according to Electrek. The company cited “dramatic changes to the Tesla product economics” as a reason, and basic math would agree because it looks like the price has more than doubled. View the full article

Why the iPhone’s Designer Didn’t Want Touchscreens in Ferrari’s First EV
Tech Nerds Would Know the NameJony Ive isn’t a household name unless you follow tech closely, but his influence is everywhere. As the designer who put the iPhone on the map, he changed how we use technology by making touch the default way in. So when his name popped up in connection with Ferrari, it got people’s attention. Ive was tapped to help design the interior of Ferrari’s first all-electric model, the Luce. On paper, you’d expect that to mean a dashboard dominated by touchscreens, especially now that big screens are often seen as the definition of 'modern.' But that’s not what happened. The Ferrari Luce takes a different route, putting physical switches and tactile controls front and center. This wasn’t about nostalgia or a late change of heart. It was the plan from day one, even if it bucks the trend most new cars, especially EVs, are following. Ferrari Why Touch Made Sense for Phones, But Not for CarsIn an interview with Autocar, Ive broke down why touchscreens worked for the iPhone but don’t translate well to cars. For the phone, touch replaced a mess of physical buttons with a single, flexible surface that could be anything – a calculator, a camera, or whatever you needed. Cars, he pointed out, don’t have that problem. Ive said he wouldn’t use touchscreens for main controls because they make drivers take their eyes off the road. That alone makes them the wrong tool for the job. When asked what sets the Luce’s screen apart, Ive made it clear that Ferrari still uses some touch input, but only where it makes sense. Most of the controls are physical, and each switch is shaped to feel unique. The goal is for drivers to learn the layout by feel, not by looking. He also noted how touchscreens became a trend in car interiors. One brand added them, then everyone else followed, making the screens bigger every year. In the rush, he said, a lot of brands forgot to ask what problem they were actually solving. Ferrari What to Expect from the LuceScreen debates aside, the Luce marks a big change for Ferrari. It’s their first fully electric car, and the interior shows Ferrari isn’t just following trends. Instead, the Luce is built to keep the driver involved, even as the brand moves into EVs. Inside, you get a mix of modern screens and classic Ferrari touches, with the driver still at the center. Physical controls are where you need them most, and the digital parts stay in the background instead of taking over. Ferrari hasn’t released all the specs yet, but the Luce looks set to balance performance and the brand’s identity in a way that should feel right to longtime fans. In that sense, Ive’s approach makes perfect sense. Ferrari View the 7 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

This 990-HP Chinese SUV Could Disrupt the Global EV Market
From Smartphones to Super SUVsAs the world’s largest car market, China inevitably exerts pressure on global automakers as increasingly compelling models continue to emerge from the country. One of the latest examples is the Xiaomi YU7 GT, which reportedly delivers an almost absurd on-paper proposition, boasting close to 1,000 horsepower. According to CarNewsChina, the YU7 GT—the performance-oriented variant of the YU7 SUV – features a dual-motor electric powertrain. The front motor produces 288 kW (386 horsepower), while the rear motor delivers 450 kW (603 horsepower), combining for a reported total output of around 990 horsepower. This setup is also said to allow the vehicle to reach a top speed of up to 300 km/h (186 mph). MIIT YU7 GT’s Exterior Shows AmbitionFrom a design perspective, the YU7 GT’s overall silhouette has drawn comparisons to the Ferrari Purosangue, while its front fascia has been likened to that of the McLaren 750S. At the rear, the SUV adopts a full-width taillight—a styling cue commonly seen on modern vehicles – along with GT badging that clearly denotes its performance-focused positioning. Based on filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the YU7 GT will be offered with an extensive range of customization options, including various body decals and multiple brake caliper color choices. Xiaomi already fields a performance-focused EV in its lineup with the SU7 Ultra, an electric sedan that produces a staggering 1,527 horsepower. However, as SUVs continue to dominate global market demand, the YU7 GT could prove far more impactful for the company. That is especially notable given reports suggesting SU7 Ultra sales cooled significantly last year, with just 45 units sold in December 2025. MIIT China’s Grip on the FutureMarket speculation suggests that the YU7 GT could be priced between 450,000 and 500,000 yuan (roughly $65,000 to $72,000 at current exchange rates). At that level, it would undercut electric SUVs such as the Porsche Macan EV and the standard Tesla Model X, at least on paper, while delivering significantly higher quoted output. While the YU7 GT is unlikely to make its way to the U.S. anytime soon, the presence of Chinese EVs in export markets such as Europe and Mexico is already forcing legacy automakers to adapt in order to stay competitive. That pressure could ultimately work in consumers’ favor, encouraging automakers to deliver EVs with more competitive pricing, improved range, and sharper performance. View the full article

2027 Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 Revealed with More Power, More Torque, and a Drift Mode
Mercedes-AMG has revealed the latest iteration of the GLC 53, and it's more exciting than ever. Not only does the turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six mild-hybrid setup produce more power and more torque, breathing through a new exhaust system, but in a first for any AMG SUV, there's a drift mode. In fact, the GLC 53 is rear-driven more often than not, with the front axle only active when necessary, such as when activating Race Start launch control. The 2026 model produced 428 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, and its 0-60 mph time was claimed at 4.9 seconds, but for 2027, all of those figures have been improved upon. 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 Is Quicker, Happier to Rev, and More Sideways Mercedes-AMG View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article AMG has refined the six-cylinder engine with a new cylinder head, a new intake camshaft, a bigger intake system, and a new intercooler. The electrically assisted turbocharger also provides a bigger electric boost for improved throttle response, and the power curve is "adapted to a higher speed range," which means the engine wants to be revved higher. Altogether, the GLC 53 now makes 443 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, the latter figure increasing to 472 lb-ft for 10 seconds when overboost is engaged. As a result, the 0-60 sprint is achieved eight-tenths quicker, at 4.1 seconds. That's only possible with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package, but if that box is ticked, the GLC 53's 155-mph top speed is raised to 167 mph, and the performance crossover gains an electronic rear-axle limited-slip differential, unlocking the new RWD-only Drift Mode. This option also provides the driver with an AMG Performance steering wheel with a microfiber finish and paints the brake calipers red. Related: Mercedes-AMG Will Finally Bring Back Straight-Sixes to C-Class and GLC As before, shifts are courtesy of a nine-speed automatic, and as standard, the GLC 53 includes rear-axle steering for keener handling, with braking from 15.4-inch discs with four-piston fixed calipers up front and 14.2-inch rotors with single-piston floating calipers at the back. Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 Is Flashier than Ever, Just for 2027 Mercedes-AMG View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article AMG typically offers a Night Package with various gloss black touches for the mirror caps, glasshouse trims, door handles, front grille bars, badging, and exhaust tips. It also adds a larger front splitter, extra flics, side skirt extensions, and diffuser elements in the same finish, plus a larger spoiler (on the roof for the SUV, not pictured, and on the tailgate edge for the coupe) in body color, but for 2027 only, buyers can alternatively spec a Golden Accents Package. This endows the GLC 53 with either Obsidian Black Metallic or Graphite Grey Magno (matte) paint and includes matte-black 21-inch wheels with gold rims and center caps. This package also paints the calipers gloss black with white accents and changes the fuel filler cap to a silver chrome finish. Mercedes-AMG View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article Inside, the package includes black leather AMG sports seats with contrast stitching that matches the exterior accents for these, the door panels, the floor mats, and the dash. The latter features carbon fiber trim woven with Techgold metallic threads, and the door sills are illuminated with a white AMG logo. Mercedes has not indicated pricing for any of these options, nor the vehicle itself, but the 2026 model starts at $92,150, so the Golden Accents Package will likely bring the total beyond six figures. Rivian’s Most Important Vehicle Yet Is Almost Ready for Showrooms
The Rivian R2 is one of the new EV launches we’re most excited about in 2026. The EV maker has impressed with the full-size R1S and R1T, but those models’ high prices limit their widespread appeal. The smaller R2 will change that, and Rivian says its new electric SUV is now a lot closer to reaching showrooms. The R2 has officially entered final validation testing, so it’s close to concluding a rigorous series of torture tests conducted by Rivian to ensure the SUV’s reliability. Related: Rivian’s Future Now Hangs on the R2 — Here’s Why Smaller—But Still Tough R The Rivian R2 may be a lot smaller than the R1S, but it’s still designed to be an adventure SUV that can tackle a range of environments with confidence. “We’ve spent years putting R2 through nonstop testing,” said Rivian. “With multiple lifetimes of mileage accumulation and extreme durability runs, it has been through scorching heat, bitter cold, soft sand, deep water, max towing, and much more.” R The R2 has been tested in environments as disparate as Death Valley’s heat and the frigid cold of Fairbanks, Alaska. Exposing the EV to a temperature range from -45 degrees Fahrenheit to a maximum of 122 degrees ensures the cabin remains comfortable, even in conditions more extreme than most customers will experience. These tests also ensure the battery and electronics are effectively isolated from the elements. Rivian R2 Rivian View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article “Our R2 development fleet has performed incredibly well through all our testing—better than we ever expected,” said Max Koff, R2 Chief Engineer. “It has improved performance and reliability across the board. Customers are going to really benefit from it, which is exactly our goal.” Like other Rivians, the R2 will be quick and have a class-leading range; the 0-60 mph sprint will take just three seconds and it has an estimated range of over 300 miles. Related: Rivian’s Deliveries Fell in 2025—Now Its Next EV Has to Succeed Rivian’s Model 3 Moment? R Everything changed for Tesla when it introduced the Model 3 sedan in 2017. Far cheaper than the Model S and Model X, it went on to become the first EV to surpass one million global sales. It was later surpassed as the company’s top-selling EV by the Model Y crossover. Rivian has followed a similar blueprint to Tesla, initially making a name for itself in the exclusive full-size segment. But an affordable EV has been desperately needed, and the R2 is just that vehicle. According to Rivian, it will start at $45,000 when it goes on sale, which is roughly half what you’ll pay for a mid-range R1S trim. If that’s still too expensive, the upcoming R3 is an even smaller Rivian EV with an expected starting price of under $40k. Rivian does have a few problems not faced by the Model 3 when that car launched, though. For starters, there are far more smaller EV options now than there were in 2017. Secondly, the R2 will arrive amid a downturn in the EV market, as buyers increasingly opt for more practical hybrids. Even so, the R2 will be a pivotal vehicle for Rivian, potentially elevating the company from a niche player to one of the market’s top EV manufacturers. View the full article

As Tesla Kills Off the Model S and X, Cadillac Sees an Opening
Tesla’s Move Leaves a GapTesla’s plan to end production of the Model S and Model X, confirmed in a recent investor call, wasn’t a surprise. Both models have been around for a while, and Tesla is now putting its energy into higher-volume models and new platforms. What’s less talked about is where buyers go if they still want a big, premium electric sedan or SUV after these two models are gone. The Model S and Model X were never huge sellers, but they filled a clear niche: large, quick, high-end EVs with strong brand recognition. That gap in the market doesn’t just vanish because Tesla is leaving. Cadillac dealers know this, and some have pointed out that Tesla’s move gives them a shot at customers who aren’t interested in smaller or more mainstream EVs. Cadillac Cadillac Dealers Sensing MomentumAs reported by Automotive News, Brian Danahy, chairman of the Cadillac National Dealer Council, described the current lineup as a “smart move,” especially as Tesla prepares to exit the Model S and X segment. Dealers believe that customers already committed to EV ownership are more likely to stay electric, even if their brand loyalty shifts. At the same time, Cadillac has pared down its gasoline lineup to just the CT5, XT5, and Escalade, dropping the XT4, XT6, and soon the CT4. Updates are coming for the CT5 and XT5, showing that Cadillac isn’t walking away from internal combustion buyers yet. Cadillac is heading into 2026 with momentum, driven by new products and leadership changes. Kristian Aquilina, who previously led GM’s Canadian operations, stepped in as global Cadillac vice president in January, taking over from John Roth, who now runs GM’s China business. Last year, Cadillac added the Optiq, Vistiq, and Escalade IQ to its EV lineup, which helped push US EV sales up by 69 percent. GM says Cadillac led all luxury brands in EV sales during that stretch, a point the company has been quick to share with its dealers. Cadillac Not a Massive Opportunity, ThoughCadillac’s bigger EV push seems to be paying off, with more buyers moving to electric models. That trend suggests some former Tesla owners might be open to switching brands if the right alternative is there. Still, it’s important to keep expectations realistic. In 2025, Tesla sold just under 19,000 Model S and Model X units combined, according to data compiled by Cox Automotive. Even if Cadillac wins over a good share of those buyers, the numbers aren’t massive. So this shift is less about big sales numbers and more about Cadillac’s place in the market. For Cadillac, the real win is being seen as a serious option for high-end EV buyers just as Tesla steps back. The sales may be modest, but the message to the market is clear. Subaru Confirms Its Biggest EV Yet: A Three-Row SUV Coming in 2026
After lagging behind in the race to electrify its lineup, Subaru is finally catching up with a more diversified lineup. The new Forester Hybrid began rolling off the production line earlier this month, but Subaru is also expanding its EV range at a rapid rate. The Solterra was the first to arrive, and the new Trailseeker and Uncharted EVs are both arriving this spring. But a fourth Subaru EV is also coming, and it will be the automaker’s largest one yet. Related: Subaru’s Fastest Car Ever Isn’t an STI, It’s an Electric SUV A Subaru EV For Big Families Subaru In an interview with Automotive News, COO of Subaru America, Jeff Walters, confirmed that a new three-row electric SUV is coming later this year. Although no further details were shared, it seems likely that this new vehicle will share a lot with the 2027 Toyota Highlander EV. Toyota and Subaru already have several EV duos that share platforms and components, including the Toyota bZ/Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ Woodland/Subaru Trailseeker. The electric Highlander’s specifications aren’t available yet, but we know it will come with all-wheel drive, which suggests dual electric motors. Subaru’s only model that doesn’t have standard AWD is the much smaller Uncharted, so the three-row SUV is fully expected to get standard AWD. Subaru’s only other three-row crossover is the Ascent, a vehicle that struggles to stand out in a competitive segment. It has a cramped third row and a rather unrefined powertrain, elements we expect its electric sibling to improve upon. Considering that three-row electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 9 start at around $55,000, the three-row Subaru EV will probably be the Japanese brand’s priciest model in the United States. Related: Toyota Is Charging $5,000 More Than Subaru for the Same EV A Risky Time To Launch An Expensive EV Subaru Subaru’s decision to expand its EV lineup to four models comes at a questionable time, given the cooling demand for EVs in recent months. Many other automakers have canceled EVs or redirected resources to more popular hybrid/gas models, so Subaru (and Toyota, too) are outliers in this regard. The Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9 are the main players in the electric three-row SUV segment right now, but both have seen declining sales recently. Kia sold just 674 EV9s in January 2026, down from 1,232 units in January 2025. The Ioniq 9 managed 580 units last month, far behind the 8,604 three-row Palisades sold by Hyundai. Making things more complicated for Subaru is the fact that, if given a choice between a Toyota and a near-identical Subaru model, most people will choose the Toyota. Walters did say that Subaru’s EV sales strategy will be to focus on households with two vehicles and access to a charger, saying there are “a lot of people like that” in the market. Subaru hopes this group will help it achieve record market share of 4.2% in 2026. View the full article

Bugatti Almost Built a 986-HP Veyron Sedan—and It’s Still Insane Today
Engineering MasterclassWe often overlook Bugatti as a brand nowadays; we're so used to the idea that they exist in that realm of ultra-speed machines. However, back in the day, Bugatti was the pioneer of the Hypercar segment. The Veyron pushed the boundaries of what was possible: an ultra-luxury, comfortable, yet otherworldly-powered coupe capable of 250 mph. To those who don't know, the follow-up wasn't supposed to be the Chiron; in the works at the time was a sedan version of the Veyron called the Galibier. What Could Have BeenThe Galibier concept was first shown around 2009, and as expected, it drew all the necessary attention it sought, given that it looks like a 4-door Veyron. YouTuber Horsepower Hunters recently did a walkaround of the concept, and it reveals some very interesting things. Firstly, it looks much more sculpted and stylish than the Veyron. The Galibier, being a sedan, needed an element of flair, unlike the Veyron's wider, more imposing stance. The iconic Veyron face is still present, but the rear is reminiscent of another VW stablemate, the Bentley Continental. Inside the Galibier is typical of the luxury associated with Bugatti, fine leather complemented by polished wood touches, and even a $100,000 Parmigiani Fleurier Tourbillion watch that sits on the dashboard as a clock, and can be detached and wrist worn, an ultimate flex. Some of the interior features were groundbreaking for the time, such as a liquid-crystal infotainment system and a rear infotainment screen that swivels when activated. Moving towards the powertrain, the engine sits under a bonnet that opens from both sides like a wing. Under that theatrical hood is the same W16 engine found in the Veyron, but the big difference is that the Galibier has a dual-cascade supercharger, unlike the Veyron's turbos. It still produced 1,000 metric horsepower (986 hp) and had a top speed of 217 mph. It even came with Flex Fuel technology, allowing it to run on normal fuel or bioethanol. Power was sent to an all-wheel-drive system through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Horsepower Hunters/Youtube View the 6 images of this gallery on the original article Almost But Not QuiteSo close was the Galibier to hitting the market that there was already an approved price tag of $1.4 Million (in 2009). Sadly, the French automaker made the decision to shelve it in favor of the Chiron, as it feared that it might dilute the brand's image and focus on extreme performance. It makes it even sadder to know that the concept featured in the video works; it has an engine and was even started and revved. While the Bugatti Galibier remains parked for now, executives at the brand have hinted over the years that a more "practical" model could still be considered. Whatever practical means in terms of Bugatti speak are, we'll have to wait and dream. Horsepower Hunters/Youtube View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

BMW's Smallest Crossover Is Getting a New Look, But Only At One End
Those of us who are solar-powered and despise the cold but are forced to live in it during this time of year may be cursing the winter, but it's giving premium Euro automakers a chance to prove that their upcoming products are capable in all conditions. Among them is BMW, and our spies have caught the Bavarian brand's smallest crossover enduring the snow and ice of Sweden. The third-generation U11 (short-wheelbase) BMW X1 arrived in 2022, and that means it's almost due for its mid-life update, or Life Cycle Impulse, as BMW likes to call it. With the launch of the Neue Klasse-based iX3 last year, Bimmers have started to look rather different, and this facelift aims to bring the X1 closer to its bigger sibling's design language. But the cosmetic changes may not extend the full length of the 2027 X1. 2027 BMW X1 Spied: Neue Face, Alt Rear? SH Proshots/Autoblog View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article The heading is a double entendre, as alt is German for old, as well as an abbreviation of alternative. That's because, while these spy shots show a new face for the crossover, they seem to show an unchanged rear lighting setup. BMW could have redesigned the rear end in the same manner as the front, but that would be too costly for this entry-level premium crossover. Of course, under the extensive camouflage, the rear bumper and diffuser areas will likely be subtly tweaked, but if anything noticeable is happening to the rear lighting signature, it will be to the graphics of the LED running lights. SH Proshots/Autoblog The doors and roofline are unchanged, and besides some tweaks to the hood and front fenders to accommodate the slimmer headlight layout and narrower kidney grilles, the overall silhouette is unchanged. As more camouflage comes off, the new front end will look more dramatic. We can also expect the electric iX1, which was new for this second-gen X1 platform, to get a similar nose job. And since integrating with Neue Klasse models is not just about looks, changes will be coming to the cabin, too. More Tech for the 2027 BMW X1Related: First Look Inside BMW’s Next-Gen iX1 Electric SUV The 2026 X1 is available in two flavors in the U.S., both of which are B48 2.0-liter turbo-four-powered, and both of which are expected to remain available for 2027 (xDrive 28i with 241 horsepower and M35i with 312 hp). In other markets, hybrid versions of this engine are offered, and these will become further efficient, but here, the big technological change will be to the user interface. BMW doesn't hold new infotainment tech back for an all-new generation of any vehicle, whatever the price point, so this refresh will bring with it Operating System X, which ditches the rotary iDrive controller in favor of a touchscreen-based setup. The current X1 is already on Operating System 9, so owners will be used to that, but what will be new is the BMW Panoramic Vision system, which acts like a high-definition full-width head-up display. It's worth noting that this update will extend the UKL platform's life, which began in 2014 with Mini and evolved into the UKL2 architecture in 2022, so it's getting on a bit. Fun fact: UKL stands for Untere Klasse, or lower class. SH Proshots/Autoblog View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

This Manual RTR Mustang Makes More Power Than the GTD at Half the Price
Larry Chen Meets the Rowdiest Mustang YetLarry Chen doesn’t mince words in his latest upload. This is not just another tuned S650. According to Chen, it is the rowdiest manual Mustang he has ever driven, and that includes a career behind the wheel of everything from front-wheel-drive hot hatches to V12 exotics. What defines the experience is not outright speed, but traction. Or rather, the lack of it. The RTR Mustang Spec 5 represents the apex of owner, Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s Mustang program for the S650 generation. Power comes from a supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 producing over 870 horsepower, routed exclusively through a six-speed manual transmission. The package includes a Borla exhaust system, upgraded cooling, and chassis tuning engineered to handle sustained track abuse while retaining street drivability. What Makes the RTR Spec 5 So ExtremeChen describes the car as living permanently at the limit of grip. In first through third gear, and sometimes even fourth, the 870-plus-horsepower output overwhelms the rear tires at will. He likens acceleration to braking at the threshold of ABS intervention. You are constantly balancing on the edge. That analog, rear-wheel-drive, six-speed manual configuration forces total driver engagement. Even after piloting hypercars like the Czinger 21C and high-traction monsters like the Gunther Werks Turbo, Chen argues the RTR feels more dramatic, more alive, and arguably more fun precisely because it demands respect. Visually and mechanically, the Spec 5 is far more than a cosmetic kit. It features aggressive widebody styling, bespoke aero components, RTR-specific suspension calibration, 20-inch wheels, massive Brembo brakes, and 305-section Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rear tires. The price sits around $165,000 as tested, positioning it against serious performance machinery. It is also notable that it is more powerful than the $300,000 Mustang GTD at half the price. Yet it retains a warranty and OEM-level integration, separating it from typical aftermarket builds. It is not meant to compete directly with Shelby products, but to offer a different philosophy. Less clinical, more chaotic. YouTube: @LarryChenPhoto View the 4 images of this gallery on the original article Drama, Volume, and Old-School JoyChen emphasizes that despite nearly 900 horsepower, the Spec 5 remains surprisingly livable. It can cruise calmly through Los Angeles traffic, but the moment you lean into the throttle, it transforms. The Borla system deletes any quiet mode, resulting in what he calls an earthshattering cold start. Add in the supercharger’s intake howl, and the car becomes an auditory event every time you drive it. Perhaps the most telling insight is his praise for the manual gearbox. He disables auto rev-matching immediately, preferring the satisfaction of nailing heel-and-toe downshifts himself. For Chen, that interaction defines the experience. The Spec 5 is not about chasing lap records alone. It is about emotion. In an era dominated by dual-clutch precision and all-wheel-drive traction, the RTR Spec 5 doubles down on rear-drive excess and driver accountability. That is exactly why it feels special. Before the Ridgeline, Honda Tried Selling a Pickup—and It Flopped
The Honda-Isuzu Exchange ProgramBack in the early '90s, Honda and Isuzu needed something from each other. At the time, Honda didn't have anything to compete with in the growing SUV market. On the other hand, Isuzu needed to bolster its passenger car lineup. Seeing that a partnership would be mutually beneficial, the two got together in 1993 to rebadge each other's models. Perhaps the most well-known fruit of this partnership was the Honda Passport. Essentially a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo, it lived long enough to be sold until 2002. Then there's the Acura SLX and Honda Horizon, both being Isuzu Troopers running different aliases. On the other hand, Isuzu took the fifth and sixth-generation Honda Accords and called them Aska in Japan, the Odyssey was also sold as the Oasis in the U.S, the Integra SJ became the Vertex in Thailand, and the Domani/Acura EL was rebadged as the Gemini. Honda Meet the TourmasterBut among those mentioned, perhaps the most obscure product would be the Tourmaster. It was only sold in Thailand from late 1996 to 1998, and it was an Isuzu Pickup (called TFR over there) with an H badge slapped on the grille. Ridgeline, meet thy father. In terms of competition, the Tourmaster was up against its own sibling, the Isuzu TFR. There was also the Mitsubishi Triton, which you probably know better as the Mighty Max. It also had to face off against the Nissan Hardbody, known as the Big M in Thailand. Of course, its biggest challenge would be the Toyota Hilux. Honda The SpecsThe Honda Tourmaster was available in two trims, namely LX (base) and LXS (top). There was only one body style offered, called the SpaceCab, which was Isuzu-speak for extended cab. Save for the badges, it was a carbon copy of the TFR inside and out. The same was true of the sole powertrain choice, too. The pickup used a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated diesel that mustered 89 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque. A turbodiesel was added later, although power dropped to 78 hp, torque rose to 130 lb-ft. That was due to the tighter emissions rules that were set in place in 1997. You could have any drivetrain you wanted, as long as it was a five-speed manual and rear-wheel drive. Mind you, the Isuzu was available with four-wheel drive. Honda Inevitably, it FloppedLike most models in the Honda-Isuzu partnership, the Tourmaster failed to meet sales expectations. According to Thai publication Headlightmag, Isuzu shifted 100,536 TFRs in 1996, while Honda only sold 957 Tourmasters that same year. Okay, Honda was late to the market, but it's a massive difference nonetheless. Perhaps 1997 would see an uptake, right? Well, the first five months of 1997 were no better. From January to May, the TFR recorded 40,061 new buyers. As for the Tourmaster, Honda sold only 920 units of its pickup. To put that into perspective, for every Tourmaster that Honda sold, Isuzu had about 43 buyers for its TFR. It was clear from the start that it was never going to be an even split between the two. Not even a facelift in mid-1997 helped boost sales. Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi weren't shaking in their boots. Not even close. Honda Why it FailedWas going for the Honda worth it over the Isuzu? Well, the Thai market responded by not buying them at all. It didn't help that the Tourmaster was 20,000 baht more than the TFR, which was a good chunk of change at the time. But its ultimate downfall was the lack of differentiation from the model it was based on. Rebadges can be done right. Just take a look at the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade. The thing is, those three have unique characteristics, and there was actual effort in making them feel different from one another — something sorely missing in the Honda-Isuzu collaboration. Today, the Tourmaster is a bit of an oddball collector's item. It also holds the unusual distinction of being the only Honda-badged vehicle with a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout that wasn't a sports car. While only a few were sold, keeping it running is easy as there's a healthy market for TFR parts in Thailand. Now that it's well past 25 years old, you can bring one over to the U.S and stump a few people in the process. Honda View the full article

This $1.9 Million RUF Is One of the Rarest Modern 911-Based Cars Ever Built
The SCR Walked so the Yellowbird Could FlySay RUF to anyone, and images of the Yellowbird will likely be the first to pop up in their heads. Also known as the CTR, we can't blame people for thinking of that car as RUF's definitive product. Who can forget Stefan Roser's wild lap around the Nürburgring, along with several period reviews that had nothing but praise for it. But let's not forget that RUF made several cars worthy of wearing that esteemed badge prior to the CTR. One of them was the SCR, and it was the company's second model after the original Turbo 3.3. Built from 1978 to 1981, it was based on the 911SC and featured an uprated 3.2-liter flat-six that made 212 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. It doesn't sound like much today, but given that a standard 911 Carrera from the same era made less than 200 hp, it was a big deal at the time. RUF The 2018 TributeThe SCR was a success for RUF as it bridged the gap between the Carrera models and the Turbo. Which is why, for its 40th anniversary, RUF revived the car, but don't call it a recommissioned model. It's a true RUF vehicle from bumper to bumper and not based on a 911 chassis. Revealed in 2018, the modern SCR boasted a bespoke carbon fiber chassis that was developed in-house. True to its roots, it packs a tuned naturally aspirated engine. This time around, it took the 4.0-liter flat-six engine from a contemporary GT3 RS, uprated it to 503 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque, and paired it with an honest-to-goodness six-speed manual. It carried a base price of around $800,00,0 with all 70 cars spoken for by now. Pistonheads One Careful OwnerThe thing about special 911-shaped cars is that they're pretty much guaranteed to appreciate rather than depreciate. Put a RUF seal of approval on it, and you might as well call it an investment. That's the case with one 2018 SCR currently for sale. It's not every day one comes across a RUF for sale, let alone this highly exclusive model. Listed on Pistonheads, this Birch Green example is well-enjoyed for an extremely rare car. It currently has 9,000 miles on the clock, so props to the previous owner for actually driving the car from time to time. This SCR also features a front axle lift, variable exhaust system, KW V5 coilover suspension, carbon seats, bespoke interior detailing, and a generous amount of brown deerskin Alcantara trims. Pistonheads Extra SpecialHow much, you ask? You're looking at £1,375,000, which is about $1,872,000 at current exchange rates. Yes, it's around a million more than its base price, but there's a reason for its asking price. See, what you're looking at here is the very first customer example of the SCR, carrying the VIN 002. Sure, you can find another, but it won't be carrying that special VIN. Given its significance, we say it's well worth the asking price. It's not like we have two million dollars in our bank accounts right now, but well-heeled Porsche and RUF fans would probably think of it as somewhat reasonable. For the one-percenters out there, this is probably a better value than a price-gouged GT3 RS. Pistonheads Pistonheads View the 8 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

Ford Is Paying Escape Owners to Stay After Killing the Model
After Ford ended production of the Escape compact crossover and its upscale version, the Lincoln Corsair, at Louisville Assembly Plant in December 2025, it now has to make sure it doesn’t lose too many Escape and Corsair owners to other brands. At the NADA Show last week, the Blue Oval announced plans to offer no fewer than five new models priced under $40,000 by the end of the decade, with the first of them–an electric midsize truck–scheduled to arrive in 2027. While that’s good news for people who have been priced out of the market in recent years–the U.S. average transaction price for a new vehicle exceeded $50,000 in 2025–many Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair owners may need to change their vehicles before Ford gets to offer direct replacements for them. Ford Expects Escape Supply To Last Until Mid-Year Ford So what does the automaker have in mind to keep their business? It’s a pretty straightforward solution: incentivize them to buy other vehicles in its lineup. As it turns out, Ford has a very ambitious plan to retain the majority of Escape and Corsair owners–around 70% of them according to Automotive News–through a targeted marketing and incentive plan consisting of more affordable price packages and lower monthly payments for alternative products. For example, Ford is targeting existing Escape lessees whose terms are up this year, offering them attractive deals on models like the Bronco Sport and Maverick, which Ford sees as alternatives to the Escape. That way, the company is hoping to avoid driving these customers to competitor brands. For now, Ford still has plenty of Escape and Lincoln Corsairs in its inventory, with Escape supply expected to last through June based on current sales trends. The Lincoln Corsair supply is expected to last well into 2026 as well. It's A Recipe Ford Successfully Used With Edge Customers Ford It remains to be seen what will happen after that, and if Ford’s plan to retain Escape and Corsair owners will be successful. Rob Kaffl, Ford’s executive director of U.S. sales, told the Detroit Free Press that the plan that will roll out to dealers will ensure that the automaker not only retains Escape customers but also grows sales. “We have the playbook from when we ended the Edge and we’ll use that same playbook with the Escape,” Kaffl explained. When production of the larger Edge ended in 2024, Kaffl said dealers successfully retained most Edge customers by introducing them to the Explorer and Expedition SUVs or to pickups, then offering them attractive incentives to make the move to those vehicles financially appealing. Ford aims to adopt a similar strategy with Escape customers and propose a switch to vehicles similar in size and price range, such as the Bronco Sport or the Maverick compact pickup–both of which share the C2 unibody platform with the Escape and Corsair. On paper, the plan certainly makes sense as the 2025 Escape starts at $30,350 while the Bronco Sport is priced from $31,695 and the Maverick starts at $28,145. Will Incentives Of $1,000-$4,000 Be Enough? Ford But the most critical aspect will be implementing the plan, as nearly 250,000 Escape owners are expected to visit Ford dealers this year to turn in their Escape for a different Ford vehicle–or go to the competition and choose similar vehicles to the Escape, which is a scenario dreaded by dealers. According to Kaffl, Ford will set up “huge incentives” ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, depending on the vehicle the Escape customer chooses, to convince them to remain loyal to the brand. For example, moving from the Escape to a comparable Bronco Sport might qualify for $1,000 off, while trading the Escape in for a bigger, more expensive vehicle would result in bigger discounts of up to $4,000. Will that be enough seeing as Edmunds data show the Ford brand has a 53.3% loyalty rate and only 44.1% of Escape customers traded their vehicles in for other Ford models last year? Time will tell, but the lack of a direct replacement for the Escape is certainly a huge handicap. View the full article
