Leaked Images Reveal Brabus’ Wild Bodo V12 Coupe With Aston Martin Roots
A New Flagship Coupe with Old-School AttitudeBrabus has never been subtle, and its latest teaser proves the German tuner is not about to start now. A shadowy social media preview introduced the world to the upcoming Brabus Bodo V12, a front-engined coupe that looks poised to sit at the very top of the brand’s portfolio. The reveal was intentionally vague, but two details stood out immediately: a sleek grand touring silhouette and a prominent ’77’ insignia, referencing the year Brabus was founded in Bottrop, Germany. Named after founder Bodo Buschmann, the Bodo V12 feels like a deliberate throwback to an era when excess was the point. Early indications suggest a long-hood, short-deck proportion with a dramatic stance, echoing some of the most iconic grand tourers of the past. If Brabus follows its own legacy, this won’t just be about styling theatrics, but outright performance, now widely expected to be anchored by a V12 platform derived from the Aston Martin Vanquish. Vanquish Roots and Maybach-Inspired DramaA report from TheSupercar Blog has already pulled the curtain back further, thanks to leaked images that give us a much clearer look at the Brabus Bodo V12. At first glance, the coupe appears larger and more elongated than a typical SL-based build, leading to speculation that it may instead share its underpinnings with the Aston Martin Vanquish. The windscreen rake, window line, and even the side mirrors all closely resemble the V12-powered Vanquish, strengthening that theory. Visually, the Bodo leans heavily into dramatic design cues. There is a pronounced shark-nose front end paired with an impossibly long hood, while the rear fenders are aggressively flared to give the car a planted, almost menacing stance. Around the back, quad LED taillights flank a central Brabus script, sitting above a stacked quad-exhaust setup that leaves no doubt about the car’s intentions. There are also hints of inspiration from the Vision Maybach 6, particularly in its proportions and sweeping roofline, blending luxury elegance with tuner aggression. The Supercar Blog A V12 Statement in an Electrified WorldBrabus has built its reputation on turning already fast cars into borderline absurd machines, and the Bodo V12 looks like a culmination of that philosophy. From the legendary 7.3S to countless AMG-based monsters, the brand has always thrived in the space where engineering meets excess. In an industry rapidly pivoting toward electrification and efficiency, cars like the Bodo V12 serve a different purpose. They are emotional anchors, reminders that performance is not just about numbers, but about character, sound, and presence. Fuel prices may fluctuate, and regulations may tighten, but there will always be a place, however niche, for machines that exist purely to push boundaries, and few do that better than Brabus with a V12 under the hood. Rolls-Royce Cullinan Recall Means Owners Might Want to Ride Shotgun For Now
Not All Recalls Are Created EqualRecalls in the auto industry tend to fall into two broad categories. Some trace back to suppliers, where a faulty part finds its way into thousands of vehicles across multiple brands. Others originate much closer to home, often tied to how a vehicle was assembled at the factory. The latest Rolls-Royce recall falls into the assembly category. Recalls are rare for the British marque, given its low production volumes and high quality-control standards, so even a minor issue tends to get noticed. This recall comes down to an assembly oversight, not a supplier problem. The number of vehicles is small, but the safety implications are sufficient for Rolls-Royce to issue a formal voluntary recall and notify owners immediately. Rolls-Royce The Affected CullinansThe recall includes 2020-2026 Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUVs, with production dates ranging from November 27, 2019, to November 19, 2025. So, yes, that covers both Cullinan Series I and Series II. In total, 102 vehicles are potentially affected. According to the safety recall report, the main issue is the fixing bolts related to the rear seating area. These bolts secure either the left- and right-rear seat safety belts or the rear bench seat backrest locking brackets. In some cases, one of these bolts may not have been tightened to the correct specification during assembly. Needless to say, a loose bolt can become a bigger problem over time. In a crash, the rear seat belts might not hold passengers securely, or the backrest could shift forward if there’s cargo in the back. Either way, there’s a risk of injury, particularly with the vehicle owner who will likely sit in the back. Engineers first noticed the issue on January 23, 2026, during a routine quality check. A rattling noise led them to a loose bolt near the rear seat. After finding another vehicle with the same problem, Rolls-Royce started a deeper investigation and decided to issue a voluntary recall. A Relatively Simple FixThe fix is relatively simple. Dealers will check the bolts, tighten or replace them as needed, and inspect the rear seat belts for any issues. If anything needs to be replaced, it will be done at no cost to the owner. Until the inspection is done, Rolls-Royce recommends not using the rear seats or carrying cargo in the back. It’s a safety precaution, not based on the number of vehicles involved. So far, there have been no reported accidents or injuries linked to this issue. For a brand built on craftsmanship and attention to detail, this recall highlights how even minor assembly issues can occur. The response here, at least, has been focused and contained. Adrian Newey Steps Down as Aston Martin Team Principal as Audi Left in Limbo
From Dark Horse to Lame DuckAston Martin's return to Formula 1 racing as a full team has been tumultuous at best. Having had ups and (many) downs, the team needed an x-factor to get them to where they wanted to be. After all, Team Owner and multi-billionaire Lawrence Stroll has already poured substantial funds into the team. One big investment has come in terms of personnel. In 2024, they were able to lure F1 car design wizard Adrian Newey away from Red Bull. With a keen eye on this season's new regulation changes, they were touted as possible dark horses for 2026, but have instead stumbled out of the gate. Drastic measures are being taken to revive the team's performance, and some key people are moving around. Getty Newey Out as Team PrincipalThis year's season has been disastrous for Aston Martin so far; its Honda powertrains have proven unreliable and, thus far, very slow. It's come to a point where the extreme vibrations emitted by the engine are forcing drivers Alonso and Stroll to retire to avoid permanent nerve damage. For the past few months, Newey has been the head of the team's design and technical department, and also wore the Team Principal hat. A report by Motorsport.com has revealed that he will be relinquishing that role to focus on further improving the car. In another shocking development, his replacement will reportedly be an old Red Bull colleague, also responsible for many championships, Jonathan Wheatley. This comes as a shock considering Wheatley only recently became team boss of the Audi team. With a current contract enforced at Audi, it will take some time to get Wheatley onboard at Aston, but Newey's stepping down indicates the change could happen sooner rather than later. Audi F1 What's Next?Shockwaves have been sent throughout the F1 paddock with this move, but it shows that Aston is in dire need of help, and that something could also be up at Audi with Wheatley leaving so soon. If the report is true, it's possible Newey personally endorsed and pursued Wheatley, considering both worked together at Red Bull and oversaw that team's rise to F1 dominance. For Audi, though, this leaves the new team exposed on the leadership front. However, waiting in the wings and already a boss at Audi F1 is former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto, who in the interim could fill in for Wheatley as the team searches for a new replacement. Dodge, Jeep, Ram EVs Finally Gain Tesla Supercharger Access
Stellantis has announced that its electric vehicles in North America now have access to the Tesla Supercharging network. Spanning 27,500 locations, compatibility with the Supercharging network significantly improves access to charging for EV owners. The move benefits owners of electric vehicles from Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, and Maserati, all of which fall under the Stellantis umbrella. For models without a NACS charging port, a new adapter is available from certified dealerships or Mopar. What Stellantis Vehicles Can Use Tesla Superchargers? Kristen Brown Stellantis may have discontinued several plug-in hybrids recently, but the company has steadily grown its EV lineup. The following models can now enjoy Supercharger access: 2024-2026 Dodge Charger Daytona2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S2026 Jeep Recon2024-2026 Ram ProMaster EV2024-2026 Fiat 500e2024-206 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore2024-206 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore2025-2026 Maserati Grecale FolgoreThe 2027 Dodge Charger Daytona became the first Stellantis model to launch with the NACS charging port that allows Supercharger access without an adapter. For other models, the Free2move Charge NACS-CCS1 DC adapter is available from the Mopar parts store for $250. Owners can use the Free2move Charge app to locate Tesla V3 and the even quicker V4 Superchargers. The newer V4 Superchargers have the capability of charging at speeds of up to 325 kW in the U.S., significantly above the 250 kW maximum of V3 chargers. These chargers also have the infrastructure to support speeds of up to 500 kW, but EVs in the U.S. are not yet able to charge at these speeds. The same Free2move Charge app can be used to find other publicly available AC and DC fast-charging stations. Why It Matters Stellantis With many consumers gravitating towards hybrids, automakers in the U.S. have their work cut out to make EVs as appealing as possible. Big discounts have been common in recent months, but another important part of getting people to take the EV plunge is easing access to public chargers. Stellantis has now aligned with Ford, General Motors, Toyota, BMW, and others in having access to the Tesla Supercharger network, the most extensive charging network in the country and often considered one of the most reliable. For now, the adapter makes Supercharger access possible, but this is likely an interim solution as we expect more Stellantis EVs to eventually ship with the standard NACS charging port. Ford Maverick Was Supposed to be Cheap—So Why Are Buyers Paying $35K Over 7 Years?
Loans Longer Than Presidential TermsThe Ford Maverick was meant to reset expectations. A compact pickup with a sub-$30,000 starting price, hybrid efficiency, and just enough capability to lure buyers out of sedans and crossovers. It was positioned as the antidote to bloated truck pricing. But in today’s market, even the Maverick is starting to reflect a different reality – one where “affordable” is more marketing than math. New car prices have now pushed beyond the $50,000 mark on average, and that pressure is trickling down. Even entry-level vehicles like the Maverick are being pulled upward, not just by higher transaction prices but also by how they are financed. The result is a truck that still looks inexpensive on paper, yet ends up costing far more over time. Cole Attisha The Maverick Math Doesn’t Add UpTake the 2025 Ford Maverick XL. Its MSRP is $28,145, but the estimated transaction price is $29,840. From there, the typical deal structure tells a different story: a $2,984 down payment and roughly $26,856 financed at 5.9% over 84 months. That lands you at a seemingly reasonable $390 per month. On the surface, that is exactly what made the Maverick so appealing in the first place. But stretch that across seven years, and the total paid in monthly installments alone reaches around $32,760. Factor in the down payment, and you are looking at roughly $35,744 out of pocket. That is nearly $6,000 in interest on what is marketed as a budget-friendly pickup. The Maverick is still cheaper than most trucks, but the gap narrows significantly once financing is accounted for. Cole Attisha View the 1 images of this gallery on the original article The Lowdown on 84-Month LoansThe biggest pitfall of an 84-month loan is negative equity. Vehicles depreciate fastest in the first three years, yet borrowers are barely chipping away at principal during that same window. If you need to sell or trade in early, you are likely underwater. Add rising interest rates, and the total cost balloons quickly, turning a budget-friendly compact pickup into a significantly more expensive proposition over time. There is a narrow upside. If you are the type to keep a vehicle well past the loan term, an extended loan can reduce monthly strain and improve cash flow. But that requires discipline and long-term ownership. For many buyers, leasing a Maverick may actually be the smarter financial play, offering lower monthly payments and avoiding the burden of long-term depreciation. In a market where prices keep climbing, stretching loans may solve the short-term problem, but they create a much bigger one down the road. Ford View the full article

Tesla Cybertruck Finally Gets Feature That Stops Doors Opening Into Traffic
Technology for SafetyIf there's one thing that motorists these days prioritize, it's safety. With more drivers on the road, the risk of any mishaps or accidents increases. Automakers are taking advantage of this safety push by pouring a lot of R&D into developing multiple new-age features. Tesla prides itself on being a forward-thinking disruptor, and ever since, safety has been top of mind for them. Pioneers in many technologies, like autonomous driving, one of the newer, often-overlooked features is being added to a new model. Cybertruck Door SafetySay what you want about the Tesla Cybertruck, but one thing everyone can agree on is that it's huge, and its design has unique ergonomics in terms of door usage and the possibility of impaired vision for passengers. Thankfully, a new and very welcome safety feature is making its way to the Cybertruck. Tesla announced on an X post that a new anti-dooring feature is being added to the Cybertruck; this feature will now come standard with every new model Tesla sells. Basically, anti-dooring uses the car's cameras to detect oncoming vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. If a hazard is detected, the system engages the blindspot blinkers and an audible chime sounds. Lastly, it'll also stop the door from opening; passengers would need to press the button again after the hazard has passed. The feature, also known as Blind Spot Warning While Parked, will be rolled out via a software update (2026.8) that uses the car's existing hardware, eliminating the need to install new components. It's said that this feature has already been suggested by previous owners as early as 2018. Tesla Dooring IncidentsWhile it may seem like a small feature, dooring is much more common an issue than people think. Also, legally, the person who opened the door and caused the incident is usually at fault. Most dooring incidents are labeled as drivers or passengers being negligent in their surroundings. Furthermore, certain U.S. states actually have numbers backing up dooring accidents. In Chicago, dooring accounts for 19.7% of all bycicle accidents, Santa Barbara California says their number is at 16%, and in Boston 5% can be attributed to what they call "door zone" accidents. Ferrari Boss Explains Why Touchscreens Took Over Cars—and Why Buttons Are Coming Back
Customers have complained that touch controls are not as engaging or as easy to use as real buttons, and Ferrari has been doing something about it. New cars are getting physical buttons on the steering wheels again, and even slightly older models can be retrofitted with more tactile controls, too. It's not the only automaker addressing the issue, either. At the other end of the price scale, Volkswagen is bringing real buttons back, but why are touch controls so proliferative in the first place? The simple answer, as you might have guessed, is money; it's much easier to program a blank display than to design, develop, and manufacture a real piece of switchgear for a dedicated function. Ferrari CEO Provides Honest Explanation for Touch Control Popularity Ferrari Speaking in an interview with Autocar India, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna explained that touch keys carry manufacturing costs some 50 percent lower than traditional buttons: "The touch is something that is made for the supplier's advantage." He added that reverting to physical controls in a world where haptic controls and touch interfaces dominate the automotive market helps Ferrari stand out as special. Some may remember how many critics harshly judged the Lamborghini Gallardo for having the same sort of gauge cluster and driver info display as an Audi A4, arguing that while such part sharing may have saved the brand from financial turmoil, it gave the supercar an air of relative cheapness. Similarly, today's cars are invariably dominated by touchscreens and touch controls because suppliers save money by not developing unique individual components, and Ferrari wants its products to feel distinctly exceptional. Hence, the upcoming Luce EV intentionally avoids touch controls wherever possible. Physical Controls Need to Become Cost-Effective, and There May Be a Solution Ferrari/YouTube When touch-based controls were a novelty, they stood out, but once everyone adopted them, they no longer did. Furthermore, several studies have shown that, while touch controls are brilliant for smartphones that need to perform myriad functions with a single interface, from taking pictures to organizing meetings and playing games, a car that relies on such devices for basic controls only encourages distraction. It's neither safe nor legal to look down at your phone while driving, yet automakers have been feeding us interiors that require just that to find the menu for adjusting climate controls or even just adjusting the volume. Unfortunately, in an increasingly competitive market, everyday cars need to shave costs wherever possible, and designing brand-specific graphics for the same screens and buttons is easy, while cars that cost six, seven, or eight figures, like the Bugatti Tourbillon, can indulge in the extravagance of custom-made tactile controls. Hopefully, mainstream automakers and their suppliers will consider solutions like additive manufacturing to find a happy medium. BMW, whose new i3 sedan has very few physical touchpoints, is among those using 3D printing to create car parts, and we'd like to believe it will apply that expertise to produce better user interfaces in the future. Long Live the V12: Rolls-Royce Delays EV-Only Plans as V12 Demand Holds Strong
The EV PushbackJust a few years ago, almost every automaker set a deadline to make their respective lineups EV-only. That's mainly thanks to the EU's supposed ban on fuel-fed vehicles by 2035, although that rule is not entirely set in stone. It's an ambitious target, but right now it doesn't seem all that realistic, and consumers aren't migrating en masse to pure battery power. More recently, automakers have either been delaying the move to go pure electric or cancelling plans altogether. The most recent is Rolls-Royce, scrapping its EV-only-by-2030 target, according to British news outlet The Times. Not only that, but the company has also committed to continue building V12s for as long as it can. Rolls-Royce The Wealthy Aren't Buying Enough Posh EVsPerhaps it's the brand's demographics, but customers simply aren't forming orderly queues for the Spectre. The ultra-luxury coupe was introduced in 2023 for the 2024 model year, and initial sales were, indeed, strong. But as demand for EVs has cooled down, so have orders for Rolls-Royce's lone electric offering. Instead, it's the V12-powered Cullinan that's been keeping the brand very busy. It remains the British marque's top-selling model by quite some margin, and it's showing no signs of slowing down. That said, the Spectre is Rolls-Royce's second best-selling model, but its sales actually plummeted by a whopping 47% in 2025. It barely edged out the Ghost, which also has a mighty 12-cylinder under its bonnet. Rolls-Royce Not Just Rolls-RoyceRolls isn't the only ultra-prestige automaker that's adjusting its EV strategy. For instance, Lamborghini has axed further development of its EV crossover, while Aston Martin is delaying the rollout of its electric vehicles. While Bentley is still pushing ahead with its battery-powered crossover, it has also shelved several EV projects. "For every client that loves an electric vehicle, there is one who does not," said Rolls-Royce CEO, Chris Brownridge. Meanwhile, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann mentioned that demand for an EV from Sant'Agata Bolognese is "close to zero," and went as far as saying that "it’s the wrong time for a full EV." The V12 Lives, But for How Long? So, 12-cylinders remain in Rolls-Royce's future. While it sounds like good news, there's a bigger challenge ahead of it. The EU isn't backing down from tightening its emissions regulations, and V12s aren't exactly the cleanest engines around. It's these same regs that have forced many to opt for downsized turbo engines or plug-in hybrid power as a way to work around them. Still, Rolls-Royce's parent, BMW, says it will continuously update the 6.6-liter engine to keep it compliant. But unless an exception is made for low-volume and specialty manufacturers, we fear that these massive engines are living on borrowed time. Rolls-Royce View the full article

Driving Behind a Jeep Wagoneer S Might Not Be a Good Idea Right Now
The Jeep Wagoneer S, the brand’s first all-electric vehicle for the U.S. market, is already being recalled a little over a year after the start of deliveries. FCA US has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it is recalling 11,767 Jeep Wagoneer S SUVs because a liftgate hinge cover may detach, turning into a road hazard for other vehicles and increasing the risk of a crash. Loose Plastic Trim Can Become a Dangerous Road Hazard on the Road Stellantis More specifically, the liftgate hinge covers were built with “insufficient design tolerances” and may not be properly clipped into position on affected vehicles, potentially causing them to detach while the vehicle is in motion. While a loose piece of plastic trim may not sound like such a big deal, it can become a dangerous road hazard at highway speeds for other drivers, potentially causing their vehicles to crash without prior warning. The recall covers certain 2024 through 2026 Wagoneer S models built from March 21, 2024—when production of the premium electric mid-size SUV began in Toluca, Mexico—to July 24, 2025. On vehicles produced after that date, Jeep says the rear hinge covers are not prone to detaching. The automaker estimates that 6.7% of the vehicles included in the recall have the defect. The percentage was determined by supplier and vehicle production records; the part supplier is Magna International. To fix the issue, dealers will inspect, repair or replace the hinge cover as necessary, free of charge. If You Don't See Them, You'll Hear Them Jeep So how can owners know if their Wagoneer S actually has the faulty rear hinge covers? Besides a visual inspection that may reveal if one or both covers are loose or not fully seated, the automaker notes that a rattling noise might be heard by the driver and passengers coming from the rear of the vehicle while driving. That is a warning that the hinge covers may detach soon. FCA US said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue. The recall campaign is estimated to debut in the second quarter of 2026, with owner notification letters expected to be mailed on or around May 1. If you don’t want to wait until then, you can also check out if your Wagoneer S is part of the recall via the NHTSA VIN lookup tool starting March 19, 2026. The Jeep Wagoneer S features a dual-motor AWD powertrain offering a combined 500 hp and 524 lb-ft of torque in base Limited trim or 600 hp and 617 lb-ft of torque in Launch Edition guise. The 0-60 mph sprint takes just under 4 seconds for the former and around 3.4 seconds for the latter. Both models feature a 100-kWh battery pack enabling an EPA-rated range of over 294 miles in the Wagoneer S Limited and 300 miles in the Launch Edition. View the full article

2026 Lexus ES Launches With LS-Level Rear-Seat Luxury
Lexus has officially launched the eighth generation of the ES sedan in the United States. Available in both fully electric and hybrid iterations, the ES 350e EV will be arriving in dealerships in April at a starting price of $47,500, which is actually cheaper than the hybrid variants. The EV will be followed by the hybrid version in June, giving Lexus buyers in this category an interesting choice to make, given the price parity between the two powertrains. We’ve covered the 2026 ES sedan before, so we’ll focus only on key specifications and take a look at the options available in the new configurator—one of which sounds like something you'd expect in an S-Class. 2026 Lexus ES Key Specifications Lexus The 350e and 500e are the two electric versions of the new Lexus ES. The 350e is a front-wheel-drive model with 221 horsepower and up to 307 miles of range, while the 500e is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive model with 338 hp and a range of 276 miles. The 350h hybrid pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce 244 hp combined; the output stays the same whether or not it has AWD. The FWD EV and both hybrids all have a 0-60 time of between 7 and 7.5 seconds, while the 500e is the performer of the lineup, with a 5.1-second 0-60 time. All models come with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and the new Lexus Interface infotainment system with a 14-inch touchscreen. The Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 is the company’s latest driver-assistance suite and is also found across the lineup. Related: Lexus Reveals Stunning All-New 2026 ES In Two Electrified Flavors Lexus ES Optional Extras Lexus The Lexus ES fully electric trims are now available to configure on the automaker’s website. On the base 350e Premium, there are six color options: Wavelength, Iridium, Ultra White, Cooper Crest, Caviar, and Cloudburst Gray. Only Caviar is standard, with the others going for between $500 and $595. Standard black NuLuxe upholstery with Checkered trim can be upgraded to white or Palomino at no extra charge. This trim’s main upgrade is the $1,220 Convenience Package with a driver monitor, intuitive parking assist with auto braking, and front cross-traffic alert. At $375, a Cold Area Package adds a radiant knee heater, a windshield wiper de-icer, and headlamp washers. The ES 350e Luxury gains semi-aniline leather and Bamboo Layering trim. It’s uniquely available with the $3,635 Executive Package, which includes: Rear passenger center armrest with climate controlsSoft Type rear headrestHeated and ventilated rear outboard seatsRear seat massagePower trunk with kick sensorPower-reclining rear seats 2026 Lexus ES with Executive Package Lexus View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article This package is rare in the midsize sedan segment and adds a touch of Lexus LS-type luxury at a much more reasonable price point. With this option, the 350e Luxury costs just over $60k including destination, roughly as much as you’ll pay for a base BMW 5 Series with no options. The package may have been added in light of the fact that Lexus will be discontinuing the larger LS sedan. Oddly, this upgrade isn’t available on the more powerful Lexus ES 500e. Final Thoughts Lexus Lexus has taken a leaf out of BMW’s book with the new ES. Whether you choose hybrid or electric propulsion, the car looks and feels much the same. The BMW 5 Series and i5 follow the same recipe. Where the Lexus differs from its German rivals is in how it prioritizes luxury at a lower price point. For the executive who will sometimes be chauffeured, it’s a much more affordable option than an S-Class or 7 Series, or even a well-specced E-Class. The Lexus isn’t as powerful as these rivals, but this is a luxury car first and foremost, not a sports sedan. We look forward to getting behind the wheel of the new ES soon. View the full article

Volkswagen’s 2027 Atlas Gets a High-Tech Interior With a Hidden Screen
What a Tease Volkswagen is – once again – teasing a photo of its 2027 Atlas. Set to debut at the 2026 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) in early April, more details of the new three-row SUV from VW have been sent to our inboxes. The previous 2027 Atlas teaser revealed a close-up of the LED taillights, and VW seems to be pretty fond of its LED setup with the Atlas for the North American market. We even got to see the prototype of the three-row SUV. Volkswagen of America VW Really Likes Its Light Design Now, we’re seeing another set of lights, but this time in the interior. The highlight of this teaser is the dashboard and door card interior ambient lighting. The brand also states that the “2027 Volkswagen Atlas is more premium and more modern, yet unmistakably Atlas.” I’m not sure about “unmistakable,” but it seems like the new Atlas is going to be a nice place to be in at night. So, yet another “light show” from Volkswagen, and there will probably be more teasers incoming. What’s next, the headlights? If you look at the photo closely, however, you might notice that the dashboard's ambient light looks like a screen – and that’s because it is. Volkswagen China More About the New Atlas While Volkswagen North America can tease this all it wants, we already have a good idea of what the new three-row SUV will bring to the table, thanks to the Volkswagen Teramont Pro. A member of the global lineup of Volkswagen and on sale in China, the Teramont is a model premiered by SAIC-Volkswagen, and it has been making the rounds for about a year now. Historically, the now-outgoing Atlas was also based on this model, so it makes sense that the two models will remain related. Even down to the interior, the Teramont shares an uncanny resemblance to the Atlas teaser photo. Perhaps Volkswagen meant “Unmistakably [Teramont] Atlas,” in its press release? With the Teramont serving as the base, we can expect the Atlas to be quite impressive. In China, the model features three displays in the dash, 30-color ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon sound system, a fragrance diffuser, and a front passenger seat with an electric footrest, as well as massage and ventilation functions. Now, we’re at least certain that Volkswagen will offer the third display as an option or top-spec feature, along with the ambient lights, but we can’t say for sure whether the other features we just mentioned will be included. Our eyes aren’t that good, and VW just sent out one photo. Apart from that, we were able to secure a bunch of spy shots of the new Atlas. The front-end grows more imposing while the rear taillights also get a big boost in presence, and the exterior follows the design direction of other updated VW models like the Tiguan and the Golf. Volkswagen China Under the Hood The Teramont is built on the MQB Evo platform. We’re fairly certain that the powertrain will consist of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from the fifth-generation EA888 family of engines. The gasoline motor will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and variants with all-wheel drive come with VW’s 4Matic system. Power figures are unconfirmed, but the 2.0-liter sits at 268 hp, and torque may go as high as 295 lb-ft, depending on whether VW wants to try and best the outgoing model’s towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs. Anyway, we expect a few more teasers and details to be revealed at NYIAS, closer to the show, which starts on April 3, 2026, and runs until April 12, 2026. Toyota Built the Affordable EV America Wants—So Why Isn’t It Coming Here?
What Is It?Affordable EVs are still hard to come by in the US. Even as more models show up, the starting price isn’t what most buyers would call accessible. The Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf still lead the way for value, while Toyota’s C-HR EV sits much higher, closer to the high-$30,000 mark. That leaves a clear gap for something more attainable. Toyota fills that gap differently outside the US. The Urban Cruiser, built in India with Suzuki and sold in Europe and Asia, is their answer. It’s more global than it first appears, even if it feels tailored for specific markets. On paper, it looks like the missing piece in Toyota’s US EV lineup: compact, affordable, and shaped like the crossovers Americans already know. But after a closer look, it’s clear this isn’t the no-frills, high-value EV many buyers are waiting for. Jacob Oliva/Autoblog The SpecsThe Urban Cruiser lands squarely in subcompact crossover territory, noticeably smaller than the Toyota C-HR. At 168.7 inches long, 70.9 inches wide, and 64.4 inches tall, the Toyota is nearly identical in footprint to the second-generation Bolt, which measures about 169.6 inches in length, 69.7 inches in width, and 63.9 inches in height. Wheelbase is also close: 106.3 inches for the Urban Cruiser versus 105.3 inches for the Bolt. With 7.1 inches of ground clearance, the Urban Cruiser can handle city streets and the odd rough patch, but it’s not built for anything more demanding. It seats five, but the focus is on practical use of space rather than stretching out. A front-mounted electric motor drives the front wheels, putting out 174 horsepower and 142 lb-ft of torque. That’s about average for entry-level EV crossovers. It won’t win any drag races, but it should handle daily commutes without fuss. The 61 kWh LFP battery claims a 295-mile range, which looks strong on paper and stacks up well against established US EVs. But keep in mind, that number is optimistic compared to what the EPA would rate it. Jacob Oliva/Autoblog Inside, Toyota packed the Urban Cruiser with features. There’s a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 10.25-inch digital cluster. You also get a 9-speaker JBL system, panoramic moonroof, wireless charging, and heated front seats. The rear seats are more flexible than most in this class. They slide and split 40/20/40, so you can choose between more room for passengers or extra cargo. It’s a smart detail you don’t often see at this price. As expected, there is tons of safety equipment. You get Toyota’s full suite of driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a pre-collision system. A panoramic view monitor and front- and rear-parking sensors round things out. Jacob Oliva/Autoblog What’s It Like?Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to drive the Urban Cruiser yet, but spending time with it in person makes its priorities clear. The design holds up in the metal. The hammerhead front end is pure Toyota, and the sloping roofline adds some character. It avoids the generic EV look, which is a win in this segment. Inside, the layout is simple and user-friendly. Physical controls for climate and volume are still there, which makes a difference. The screens are crisp, though a bit laggy, and the cabin feels modern without trying too hard. Jacob Oliva/Autoblog Material quality is mixed, with some nice textures and a two-tone scheme to brighten things up, but there’s still a lot of hard plastic underneath. It doesn’t feel bargain-basement, but it doesn’t fully justify the price either. Front seat space is fine, but the back is where compromises show. Headroom is tighter than you’d expect (I stand at 5’6”), and fitting three adults across is a stretch. No rear air vents, which is a miss for hotter climates. Still, the flexible rear seats are a real plus. Sliding and splitting them in different ways makes the most of the space, especially if you’re often switching between hauling people and cargo. Just don’t expect a huge trunk with all seats up because it’s very limited. Jacob Oliva/Autoblog VerdictIn the Philippines, where the Urban Cruiser was recently launched, it has a price tag of P2.1 million, or roughly $35,000 in today's exchange rates. That puts it up against established US EVs – some of which offer more power, polish, or even size. And that’s where the problem lies. The Urban Cruiser checks a lot of boxes: good features, practical size, and the Toyota badge. But on closer inspection, it doesn’t quite pull ahead where it counts. Overall, it falls short of the value and finish that American buyers expect at this price. The interior is a mixed bag, the packaging has compromises, and there are better choices out there – like the Nissan Leaf – that feel more complete at a lower price point. For global markets, the Urban Cruiser works as an entry-level EV. In the US, where buyers have more choices and higher expectations, it’s a tougher sell. There’s potential here, but right now, it’s not quite ready for American roads. Jacob Oliva/Autoblog View the 9 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

The New 2027 Volkswagen Atlas Will Come With Three Interior Screens
What a Tease Volkswagen is – once again – teasing a photo of its 2027 Atlas. Set to debut at the 2026 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) in early April, more details of the new three-row SUV from VW have been sent to our inboxes. The 2027 Atlas was already teased once before, with a close-up of the LED taillights, and VW seems to be pretty fond of its LED setup with the Atlas for the North American market. Tesla Full Self-Driving Faces New U.S. Probe Following Crashes and Fatal Incident
The federal government is not impressed with Tesla. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is further probing Tesla's Full Self Driving Beta and Full Self Driving (Supervised) degradation detection system, which was deployed after the automaker began moving away from using both cameras and radars to just cameras with its Tesla Vision system in mid-2021. The agency is concerned that, despite an update, it "fails to detect and/or warn the driver appropriately under degraded visibility conditions such as glare and airborne obcurants." In other words, the camera-only semi-autonomous driving aid could be compromised in certain conditions, and it may not warn the driver of its shortcomings soon enough to avoid a crash. There are also concerns of under-reporting related crashes, and at least one has been fatal. Let's dig deeper. What the NHTSA is Investigating at Tesla @mikepat711 / X.com The NHTSA says that Tesla began developing a software update to the degradation detection system the day after submitting a report of a fatal crash on November 28, 2023, but the ODI "does not have information on when the update was deployed and which vehicles have the updated system." However, it is aware of at least nine incidents of crashes, and if the software was deployed to these vehicles, it may have affected a third of those crashes. During the preliminary evaluation phase, Tesla said that internal data and labeling limitations prevented a uniform identification and analysis of crashes with the potentially problematic system engaged, and because it hasn't been able to correctly determine which crashes involved the software, this may have led to under-reporting of crashes at various times during the defined period. Thus, the preliminary evaluation has now been graduated to an engineering analysis. The following 43 products equipped with FSD are named in the NHTSA investigation: 2016-2026 Tesla Model S2016-2026 Tesla Model X2017-2026 Tesla Model 32020-2026 Tesla Model Y2023-2026 Tesla CybertruckThe NHTSA's incident data may suggest that Tesla's degradation detection system (both the original software and the update) fails to detect and/or warn the driver appropriately when visibility is compromised. The crashes that the ODI reviewed showed that the system failed to detect common conditions that impaired camera visibility and/or provide alerts warning that camera performance had deteriorated "until immediately before the crash occurred," and Tesla's responses to NHTSA inquiries found that additional crashes occurred in similar environments. The NHTSA adds that "FSD also lost track of or never detected a lead vehicle in its path." What's Next for Tesla FSD Mark Leong/The Washington Post/Getty Images PE24031 is now upgraded to an engineering analysis, which will allow the ODI to gather more info on Tesla's updated degradation detection system and to determine how far along Tesla got in deploying the new software. It will also seek to determine the scope of compatible vehicles and how effective the system actually is in detecting impairments and warning drivers thereof. Then, the ODI will analyze six potentially related incidents (SGO reports 13781-11937, 13781-13211, 13781-13569, 13781-13633, 13781-13693, 13781-13788). With vehicles nearly flying off overpasses on FSD and Senators deeply concerned about how the system deals with rail crossings, Tesla needs to develop a real fix soon. Or go back to radars, though we doubt it's willing to incur the expense. View the full article

BMW Hints the Z4 Could Go Electric—And Drop Its Iconic Engine
New Design Language, No New Z4 YetBMW recently revealed the BMW i3, an all-electric sedan that became the talk of the industry following the German marque’s first product on the "Neue Klasse" platform. Gasoline variants of the 3 Series will be launched later this year, which we’re eagerly anticipating. However, the press event did leave more questions than answers. Aside from the i3, teasers were also dropped for a 3 Series Touring, and I’d like to see BMW make an April Fool’s joke out of this one again, but we’re curious to see more. We’re happy to see BMW keep segments alive, and the industry and community remain divided on the “Neue” designs of BMW, but what we want to know now is what the future of the rest of the lineup looks like for the brand? BMW Final Edition, Final Goodbye This generation’s BMW Z4 is on its last legs and due for an update, with a Final Edition bidding farewell to the current model. It did relatively well, selling a number, retaining its front-engine rear-wheel-drive platform with TikTok's favorite engine, and jokingly referred to as a drop-top Supra and vice-versa, but with both the Toyota- and the BMW-coded models getting dropped from their respective lineups, the current Z4 platform’s future is up in the air for now. That is, until we get confirmation from BMW. For now, the brand said a few things during the i3’s launch, so speculation is all we've got at this point. BMW So What Will Happen to the Z4? There have been no official statements made by BMW about the Z4’s successor, at least not definitively. During the i3’s debut, BMW Blog reported that the Bavarian brand’s Senior Vice President, Bernd Körber, said, "EV has a space in sports cars also, yes. So I would say not unlikely, but not something that will be imminently launched next year." At this point, you and I know that that’s a very democratic answer. That’s the equivalent of saying, “the door’s always open” to your ex. BMW dodged the question but gave a bit of hope in the process. The Z4 might be the recipient of an all-electric powertrain, essentially turning it into a German Tesla Roadster of sorts. That would be a first for a European brand, but will that be a win for enthusiasts, the market that the Z4 is aimed at? Highlighting its electric models first and promising to launch gasoline variants in the future may lead one to believe that BMW is placing greater emphasis on its EVs in the upcoming product generations. BMW Possibilities As for the future design of the Z4, artists like Luca Serafini were quick to render a next-generation “Neue Klasse” imagining of the roadster. Frankly, if the new Z4 came out and looked like this, I’m all for it. Everyone has something to say about "Neue Klasse" design for now, so it might have to grow on people first, as is the case with the Bangle Bimmers. BMW already electrified a two-door in the past. Remember the BMW i8? Another possibility is that BMW could adopt a plug-in hybrid system in its more performance-focused models. Think what you will about the i8, but it was a bold step for BMW at the time, and if the brand were to do hybrid powertrains again, I’d like to believe they learned a thing or two from this butterfly-doored Bimmer. If we get a fully-electric BMW Z4, it will likely be pitted against the second-generation Tesla Roadster – that is, if it ever goes on sale – and it will be an interesting first EV convertible for the German automaker. Speculations aside, one thing is for sure: BMW is considering electric sports cars. For now, a fully electric or hybrid electric Z4 has not yet been confirmed, and we’ll just have to wait and see. Audi’s New Q9 SUV Takes Aim at Escalade and X7 With U.S.-First Debut
After launching more than 20 new and refreshed models in 2024 and 2025, Audi has significantly rejuvenated its lineup, but it doesn’t plan to stop there. The luxury car manufacturer aims to continue its model onslaught in 2026 and bring to market several new models. Those include the first-ever Audi Q9 flagship SUV, the A2 e-tron compact electric car, the third generation of the Audi Q7, the facelifted Q4 e-tron compact electric SUV, and the new Audi RS 5 high-performance model, which has already been unveiled. Audi's First-Ever Vehicle to Have the U.S. as Its Launch Market SH Proshots/Autoblog The Audi Q9 plays a special role in Audi’s strategy not only because it will be its flagship model—likely acting as an indirect replacement for the A8 luxury sedan which has no successor in sight—but also because it will be the brand’s first-ever vehicle to launch in an overseas market first and not in Germany or Europe (excluding China-exclusive Audi vehicles, that is). The Audi Q9 will make its world debut in the United States, CEO Gernot Döllner told Automotive News, making it Ingolstadt’s first-ever model to launch in the U.S. before the rest of the world. This speaks volumes about how important the U.S. is for the Q9, although it shouldn't come as a big surprise as we’re talking about the world’s top market for full-size luxury SUVs. SH Proshots/Autoblog Set to go head to head with models like the Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7, but also body-on-frame models like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and Lexus LX, the Audi Q9 is “specially tailored to the needs of customers in the world’s second-largest automotive market,” the automaker noted at its annual media conference on March 17. Together with the next-generation Q7 and the new Q3 models that will also launch stateside in 2026, the Q9 will help make Audi’s premium SUV lineup the youngest in the US market, the company said. “The new Audi Q9 strengthens our position in the US and defines the top of our portfolio,” Audi’s head honcho said at the conference. Despite being designed for American buyers, the Audi Q9 will not be built in the U.S.; the full-size luxury SUV will be assembled at VW Group’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, alongside Porsche’s upcoming K1 flagship SUV. That makes economic sense as both models share a stretched variant of the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. The plant in Central Europe will also build the next-gen Q7. What We Know So Far About Audi's Largest SUV Ever SH Proshots/Autoblog The Audi Q9 is expected to offer turbocharged V6 gas engines with mild-hybrid tech and potential plug-in hybrid options. V8 engines will likely be offered in the SQ9 performance model and Horch-badged range-topper, which will compete with the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. Long requested by Audi’s U.S. dealers, the Q9 will offer three rows of seats as standard, with options for six or seven seats in a roomy cabin, and a cavernous trunk. As you can imagine, it will also get the brand’s latest tech and safety features, including the latest Audi MMI infotainment system with customizable digital displays and a full suite of ADAS features. Special attention will be given to the comfort and entertainment of rear-seat passengers, especially in the six-seat version that’s expected to be the most opulent with second-row captain’s chairs and the best interior materials available. SH Proshots/Autoblog Styling-wise, the Audi Q9 is expected to use similar traits as the latest Q3 and Q5 SUVs, obviously with different proportions due to the much longer and wider body. No official photos have been released yet, but judging by the spy shots we’ve seen so far, the Q9 appears to feature split LED headlights, a broad grille, muscular shoulders, and flush-mounted door handles. The Q9 will be unveiled in the second half of this year, with U.S. deliveries to start before year-end. The rest of the world should get it in 2027. View the full article

Lamborghini Launches New Gas Models as First Electric Supercar Delayed Past 2030
Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann says he's been misunderstood. Referring to the Lanzador EV, he called the development of electric vehicles "an expensive hobby" and said that demand for such a product is "close to zero." This seemed to indicate that an electric Raging Bull was canned, but speaking with Autocar, Winkelmann said his quote was "a bit taken out of context." Rather than canceling EV development altogether, Lamborghini will continue its expensive hobby, but the results will only be seen in the next decade, spending 2026 revealing new hybrid variants. "The new timeframe is, for sure, after 2030," Winkelmann said of Lamborghini's first EV. "We will follow very closely the rate of acceptance of electric cars in the future for our types of customers." Until then, Lamborghini's 2025 financial results statement revealed that "a series of new developments" will be unveiled this year at various places, including the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Monterey Car Week. New Cars Will Be Revealed at the Biggest Car Shows of 2026 Lamborghini/Autoblog Naturally, Lamborghini was not specific about what to expect: "During 2026, Automobili Lamborghini will continue to evolve its product offering with a series of new developments aimed at further strengthening the brand's positioning and appeal in international markets. Some of these will be unveiled at internationally relevant platforms such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the traditional Monterey Car Week." Several cars are coming, and we've got a good idea of what to expect. The Revuelto has been on sale for three years and has yet to spawn a roadster variant, so that's almost certain to be one of the new arrivals. The Temerario is still too new, only just beginning to reach customers, so we don't expect a new iteration of the baby supercar, but development mules of the Urus have been spied several times in the past few months, so we predict a new 800+ horsepower Urus Performante to debut as one of the last iterations of the super SUV before it's replaced near the end of the decade. That brings us back to the Lanzador. Autoblog's Take on Lamborghini's Plans Lamborghini The Lanzador concept won't go to waste and will instead arrive as a plug-in hybrid by 2030. Although Winkelmann said the final product "will be a bit different in bodystyle," it will still be a two-door 2+2. The Urus can seat up to five, but a four-seater makes more sense for a Lambo; we doubt many Urus owners are cramming three passengers in the second row. Lamborghini could use a fresh take on the segment, and a 2+2 could be quite an interesting alternative to the four-door Ferrari Purosangue. Lamborghini's fourth product, an EV of some sort, will have to wait. Winkelmann added that it's very difficult to "make electric cars emotional," and when a Lambo is meant to be a dream car that some spend decades working towards, artificial sounds won't cut it. Winkelmann's comments indicate that exotic marques have a bigger challenge in the EV space than more attainable brands, and Lamborghini's analysis of the market revealed that "the rejection rate of full-electric cars is increasing." Thus, Sant'Agata will watch how the market evolves, continuing to develop EV technology so that it doesn't get left behind when customers finally want an all-electric Lambo. Until then, several new hybrids will keep us entertained. Lamborghini View the full article

Chevy’s 1,250-HP Corvette ZR1X Just Proved Its 8-Second Claim Was No Fluke
Replicating Chevy’s Record: The Mission Behind the MadnessDragTimes set out with a very specific objective: prove that Chevrolet’s headline-grabbing 8-second quarter-mile claim for the Corvette ZR1X wasn’t a one-off, factory-controlled miracle. Instead of a prepped press car with engineers on standby, this was a customer-owned example, piloted under real-world conditions at TX2K in Dallas, Texas. The goal was simple on paper: replicate Chevy’s reported 8.6-second pass while validating whether the ZR1X’s performance is truly repeatable. That matters because prior tests, including Chevrolet’s own runs and independent validation such as NHRA-backed attempts, suggested that the ZR1X redefines what “production car” even means. With a twin-turbo 5.5-liter flat-plane V8 paired to a hybrid front axle delivering a combined 1,250 horsepower, the ZR1X has already been positioned as the quickest factory street car ever built. The question DragTimes wanted answered: Can a regular owner actually access that performance? Conditions, Passes, and Brutal AccelerationThe conditions were nearly perfect. Cool air and a well-prepped track gave the team a real opportunity. Minor adjustments were made before the run. Floor mats were removed to save weight. The rear wing was also taken off to reduce drag, despite Chevrolet not recommending it. The goal was maximum straight-line efficiency. The first run was delivered immediately. The ZR1X posted an 8.74-second pass at 159 mph. The launch was aggressive and clean. The car hooked hard and showed no hesitation. More importantly, it repeated. Additional runs landed at 8.78 and 8.76 seconds. The data backed it up. A 0–60 mph time of 1.7 seconds and a 1.39-second 60-foot confirmed the violence off the line. Even as the electric assist drops past 130 mph, the car continues to pull hard. The fact that they can consistently replicate the results, close to the earlier test results, means Chevy meant business with the ZR1X. DragTimes/YouTube View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article A $250K Supercar That Rewrites the RulesThe ZR1X carries a price tag between $250,000 and $270,000. That places it deep into supercar territory. The difference is what it delivers for that price. This is a car capable of mid-8-second passes without a factory team. It does it with minimal preparation and repeatable results. That changes the conversation. The ZR1X is not just fast for a Corvette. It is fast compared to anything. DragTimes proved that Chevrolet’s numbers are not inflated. They are achievable. In real conditions, with a real owner, the car performs. That level of accessibility is what makes the ZR1X significant. It does not just compete with hypercars. It undercuts them. BMW Says Chrome Is Out — Light-Up Grilles Are the Future
All Lit UpIlluminated grilles aren't exactly new. For those old enough to remember, the 1965 Chrysler 300L had something called the center-grille running light. It would take a while before we would see a lit-up grille bearing the now-defunct automaker Mercury, first on the Sable and later on the Villager minivan. Fast forward to the 2010s, and Mercedes-Benz began offering illuminated grille badges, eventually evolving into what we see today. BMW then took it to the next level by illuminating the entire grille, and it's now what's called the Iconic Glow grille. The X6 got it first, and was quickly followed by the X5, 7 Series, 5 Series, and even the X3, to name a few. It's even an option on the 1 Series these days. BMW Neue Klasse, New GrillesAfter a dramatic design detour in the early 2020s, BMW changed course with the Neue Klasse. It's smoother and cleaner, with fewer jagged lines, as first seen in the concept models and, eventually, in the iX3 and, most recently, in the i3. The new look also brings new grilles, so expect the same look in the fuel-fed 3 Series and other future BMW models. At the same time, BMW is doubling down on the Iconic Glow grilles. It's already been established in the pre-Neue Klasse models, and BMW is keen to lead in light-led design. To do that, it's ditching chrome trim or, at the very least, reducing it significantly. BMW Why BMW is Doing itSpeaking to CarExpert, BMW's Neue Klasse interior lead designer Sebastian Kroes said light play is the way to go in future design. "With the new Neue Klasse platform, we want to express its digitality and electricity through the light experience. It also enables us to offer certain experiences that we were not able to offer using just chrome. Chrome doesn't work at night. Light does." With that, BMW wants its cars to be recognizable even when the sun goes down. Daytime running lights on the headlights aren't enough for the brand anymore, as it seems. Kroes adds that the company seeks to break traditional notions of luxury vehicles by taking the bold step. Of course, there is a limit to how far the brand can push the boundaries, and it will be up to consumers to decide whether the company made the right move with their wallets. Bentley Is Turning Sound Into Its Next Big Luxury Feature
The Business of BespokeBentley has doubled down on Mulliner, its in-house coachbuilding and personalization arm, to get more out of every car that leaves the factory. What makes Mulliner stand out is just how far you can take it. Expanded color choices, unique interior finishes, and options that go well past what most brands call luxury. But the newest option isn’t about paint or leather. This time, it all starts with sound. Bentley’s new Naim for Mulliner system is now the foundation for a whole new collection called Virtuoso. Here, Bentley puts sound at the center, showing that luxury isn’t just about what you see or touch, but what you hear. Bentley The System that Reshapes the CabinThe Naim for Mulliner package features 18 speakers and upgraded drivers, first seen in the Batur, all tuned for better clarity and a wider sound range. Bentley teamed up with Dolby to add Atmos surround sound, which places every note and detail exactly where they should be, wrapping the listener in layers of sound. Fraunhofer Symphoria, meanwhile, tunes the soundstage to fit each specific cabin. Instead of a generic setup, the system adapts to the car, delivering the best possible sound no matter which model you choose. The speakers use Focal-inspired 'M'-profile cones, built for strength, lightness, and control. That means clearer sound with less distortion. The new design also lets the cones move up to 20 percent more, which helps with detail and dynamic range. There’s also a redesigned speaker grille that boosts acoustic transparency by 26%, and soft materials like Dinamica are placed to absorb unwanted noise and vibration. Bentley The Virtuoso CollectionThe Virtuoso Collection builds everything else around the Naim for Mulliner audio system. It’s available on the Continental GT, GTC, and Bentayga, with the Flying Spur coming soon. Each model gets its own look and feel, but the sound system is always the centerpiece. You can pick from three versions: Soprano, Tenor, and Bass. Each one sets a different mood, from bright and calm to dark and bold, with materials and colors to match. No matter which version you choose, Champagne Gold accents show up inside and out, and the embroidery patterns mimic sound waves in a subtle way. Even the fabrics are picked for how they affect the sound, not just how they look. As expected, Bentley didn’t announce pricing for the Virtuoso Collection. For reference, the original Naim for Mulliner system cost £25,000 (around $33,000) on the Batur. Bentley View the 20 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

Toyota Opened Its First Century Showroom, and It’s Coming for Rolls-Royce
Century’s Ultra-Luxury Era Begins With Its First Tokyo ShowroomWe knew Toyota was taking the Century beyond a mere badge, and now they’ve made it even more of a reality. The brand’s first standalone retail space, dubbed the Century Studio. Sitting within what was once the Lexus Aoyama showroom, Toyota is now taking a bold step into ultra-luxury. The space now represents something much, much more exclusive than anything Toyota itself. To reinforce this notion, the showroom’s initial exhibit features a stunning 1967 Toyota Century limousine and the bold new Toyota Century Coupe concept. A fitting juxtaposition, indeed. From Quiet Authority to Loud IntentFor decades, the Toyota Century was the embodiment of understatement. Introduced as a chauffeur-driven limo, it was Japan’s ultimate symbol of authority and power. V8, then V12, and a design aesthetic that never changed much over the years. It was never about flashy, bold statements; it was about presence, much like a tailored suit. But Toyota’s taking a bold step with the new Toyota Century Coupe concept, first seen at the Japan Mobility Show. The new Toyota Century Coupe concept is all about performance luxury. Reports indicate a twin-turbo V12 and plug-in hybrid system producing upwards of 800 horsepower. This is in keeping with previous rumors that Toyota’s bid for ultra-luxury status could result in the revived V12 formula, rather than going fully electric as other makers do. It also underscores that this is a brand that won’t follow trends, but rather forge its own path in the ultra-luxury segment. Century/Instagram A Fit For Century LuxuryThe new Century Studio also reflects this change. The bright, sparse display space in the previous Lexus dealership is replaced with more muted tones and traditional Japanese design elements, such as indigo shippo tsunagi. It’s no longer just a dealership, but rather more akin to a luxury experience. Situated along National Route 246 in Aoyama, which is in one of Tokyo’s most exclusive areas, this is also no accident. This is where Toyota wants to position its new flagship brand: in the heart of high fashion, architecture, and wealth. Chairman Toyoda personally previewed this new space, and it’s clear just how important this launch is for the brand. Toyota Will It Reach America?Toyota is launching this new brand, but in reality, it is also putting it to the test to see how well it stacks up against Bentley and Rolls-Royce. This is a huge jump for them. While it does have brand heritage, in America, it’s almost nonexistent in terms of luxury status. This is also where they will have to jump to get into America. The brand is targeting only Japan, China, and parts of the Middle East for its high-net-worth crowd. America, however, would require more than just brand and product; it would require brand repositioning, dealership strategy, and consumer willingness to accept Toyota in this price range and status. Will we ever see this in America? Only time and, more importantly, sales and demand, will tell. Century View the full article

Mercedes G-Class Convertible Confirmed for the US with AMG V8 Power
It was in September last year that Mercedes-Benz first teased a new G-Class Cabriolet with a single shadowy image, and in December, the German automaker showed images of a prototype wearing camouflage, announcing that development had begun testing on the road and track in Austria, where regular G-Wagens are built by Magna Steyr. Mercedes added that prototypes would then head to Sweden for cold-weather testing, but revealed nothing else. But a new report from Automotive News, following a meeting with Canadian and U.S. dealers in Sindelfingen, Germany, says that more information has been disclosed, including that the drop-top luxury off-roader will have an AMG V8. AMG G 63 Cabriolet Coming in 2028 Mercedes-Benz The report says that the drop-top G-Class will be an AMG G 63, which means it will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, something confirmed by an anonymous retailer present at the meeting. This insider says that dealers were shown a pre-production model with four doors and Heritage Blue paint, and the final product will share the 577-horsepower V8 of the regular G 63, which, at the time of writing, carries a base MSRP of $195,500, according to the Mercedes-Benz USA website. No doubt, the fabric-roofed cabrio will cost more than $200,000 when it goes on sale, which AN's report says will happen in 2028. Related: Mercedes Backtracks: Baby G-Class Will Offer Gas After All This is the first time that the G-Class Cabriolet has been confirmed as an AMG product, and it's the first time that we've had an indication of when to expect its arrival. That said, take this news with a pinch of salt. Mainstream automakers rarely tease new products so far in advance, and we suspect the G 63 Cabrio will actually debut long before then. Our guess? America's first convertible G-Class will debut early in 2027 for the 2028 model year, if not later this year for MY2027. More G-Class Cabrios Could Be Coming Mercedes-Benz The prototypes Mercedes showed last year did not have any distinctive AMG cues, like a pair of dual-exit exhaust tips on each side of the vehicle or AMG-specific wheels. Nevertheless, Mercedes' December announcement did describe the vehicle as a "special edition," which means it will be both expensive and limited in number. Therefore, the regular Benz badge won't cut it. But could we get a Maybach variant? Like previous open-top G-Wagens, the Maybach G650 Landaulet was never officially sold in the U.S., but given how much of an appetite there is for exclusive and expensive vehicles both here and around the world, we wouldn't be surprised if one were introduced in the not-too-distant future. In fact, a slew of trademarks filed last year hint at several new G-Class iterations. Whatever the case, the fact that North American dealers have been shown the new G-Class Cabrio means Mercedes is preparing to begin marketing it, and that means more information will be available before long. This Is How BMW’s New Design Could Transform the M2 Facelift
BMW has just revealed its new electric 3 Series, the i3, wearing the brand’s Neue Klasse design language. It will eventually replace the i4, marking a clear shift in design direction for the brand. The public reaction has been mixed, but a new rendering from Avante Design shows how this controversial design language could translate onto the facelifted G87 BMW M2. And we think he may understand the Neue Klasse design language better than BMW itself. Neue Klassify the BMW M2 Instagram @avantedesigns_ Instagram @avantedesigns_ Instagram @avantedesigns_ BMW's Neue Klasse design language has made its way onto two BMW models so far, the iX3 and the i3, bringing a cleaner, more minimal look. This rendering applies that same philosophy to an internal combustion M car without stripping away its identity. Up front, slim lighting strips replace the current M2’s chunky headlights, adopting a “frowning” DRL signature similar to the i3. The kidney grille seems to have a 3D LED effect, and is integrated into a gloss-black panel that houses the lights, split by a small central section that nods to classic BMW design. Lower down, the M2 retains its aggressive demeanor, with large side intakes and a central opening that sits above a pronounced splitter. Although little of the interior is visible, it seems to feature a flat screen-escque infotainment display. Classic M2 Proportions, Cleaned Up Instagram @avantedesigns_ Instagram @avantedesigns_ Instagram @avantedesigns_ Instagram @avantedesigns_ The M2 LCI retains its boxy, muscular silhouette, but appears even sharper with cleaner surfacing and flush details. It still has some elements you'd expect from a true M car, like deep-dish wheels, similar to those on the previous-gen M2 CS, finned mirror covers, a carbon fiber roof, and a chunky diffuser that highlights four exhaust tips. The blue paint isn’t a known BMW shade, but it sits somewhere just lighter than Portimao Blue. At the rear, the design has been decluttered with taillights that almost connect across the tailgate, slightly thicker than the recently unveiled i3. And a small lip spoiler on the trunk lid is the cherry on top. A Realistic Look At BMW’s M Future? Avante Design's rendering blends BMW's future-facing design with familiar M2 proportions in a way that BMW could realistically produce without upsetting fans. And it seems like BMW plans to roll out the Neue Klasse design philosophy across its entire lineup, with the 7 Series seemingly next in line. BMW has been disappointing fans with their designs for years on end. Now, more than ever, it's important that they nail the next generation of M cars' design. If the M2 LCI ends up looking like Avante imagines it would, we wouldn't be mad. Dare we say it looks better than today’s pig-nosed M2? View the full article
