  2. Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service championship contender Eric Gustafson added 32 points to his tally Friday night when he locked down the No. 1 qualifier position at the Winter Series finale, the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by Red Line Oil. In the first of three Friday qualifying sessions at Bradenton Motorsports Park, Gustafson threw down a 3.553-second pass at 211.16 mph to lead the second-quickest 32-car field in eighth-mile Pro Mod history. Gustafson went into the World Series of Pro Mod ranked third in Winter Series points standings after consistent late round finishes at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals and the U.S. Street Nationals in his ProCharged Coast Packing Company “Lard Machine” ’69 Camaro. Gustafson’s combination was dealt a weight penalty after the last race, but tuner and teammate Jason Lee and the team went to work and picked up where they left off by qualifying No. 1. Gustafson earned a $10,000 Low Qualifier Bonus from Jerry Bickel Race Cars, and he ended up drawing a No. 16 chip in the random chip drawing. That means he’ll be in the final pair of the opening round of eliminations on Saturday morning. He’ll face Travis “The Carolina Kid” Harvey. “You never know when you’ll be No. 1 in anything ever again,” said Gustafson, the 2020 NMCA Xtreme Pro Mod champion. “For me, it’s important. I wanted to recognize my team as well, and had Jason [Lee] and Cam [Hensley] come up for that picture. They’re the guys who help make this thing run. I’m just lucky enough to let go of a button and have a good time.” Winter Series points leader Jason Harris qualified second in his Harts Charger-boosted “Party Time” ’69 Camaro for the second consecutive race after qualifying No. 1 and winning the Snowbirds. He missed the top spot by just two thousandths with his 3.555 at 211.26. He’ll line up against Pro Mod newcomer Greg Blevins Jr. in the first round. “We definitely have a fast car; I think we proved that point in the first and second race,” Harris said. “And losing No. 1 by four thousandths – two thou this race, two thou last race – it’s just part of the way this game goes. I think right now the chip draw throws it all out the window. Once you’re in, you’re in, and all these guys can win. You’ve just got to do the best you can. Tomorrow the weather might change and change your tune-up. But I’m pretty confident going in. I know nobody here wants to draw me, so that gives me a little confidence going in.” Spencer Hyde, the 2025 NHRA Rookie of the Year, qualified third behind the wheel of the screw-blown Tidwell Nesloney Racing ’69 Camaro. Both Hyde and the car have history in the Winter Series. Hyde won the 2023 edition of the WSOPM before getting into nitro racing, including a full 2025 campaign in NHRA Funny Car. He didn’t compete in the Snowbirds, but when reigning Winter Series champion Ken Quartuccio took a step back from driving the Tidwell/Nesloney Camaro to focus on business opportunities, Hyde got the call to drive the championship-winning car at the final two Winter Series races. He made the most of the opportunity, laying down a 3.560 at 205.16. “Making it down all five runs is definitely something that you can take into race day with some confidence in the car, and my lights were pretty decent all five runs,” said Hyde, who will take on fellow Canadian Kenny Lang in the opening round. “Going in there, driving well, and having a good hot rod is a good recipe for race day. “To think that I wasn’t even going to race this (Winter Series) starting off, I missed the first race. When Ken Q and Scott Tidwell called me and said, ‘Hey, we want you to fill,’ I jumped at it right away. It’s pretty exciting to jump into the car that won [the championship] last year. Any time you can jump into a high-level car like that’s got Steve Petty on the keyboard, you’re in good hands. You’ve just got to show up and do your job. It does add some extra pressure, because you’re expected to be as good as they are, and they’re the best.” Johnny Camp, who qualified No. 1 at the 2023 WSOPM, ended up fourth in his Winter Series return with a 3.566 at 210.73 in his ProCharged “Hells Bells” ’69 Camaro. Stevie “Fast” Jackson, ranked No. 2 in Winter Series points after winning the U.S. Street Nationals, qualified fifth driving Dave and Jeff Pierce’s screw-blown M&M Transmission/Motion Raceworks “Purple Heart” ’68 Firebird. Past No Prep Kings winner Robin Roberts locked down the No. 32 spot with a 3.602 at 211.00. The DI Winter Series also presented a number of first-time special awards. Peter Norton won Rookie of the Year honors, Derek Menholt’s PRC-built ’19 Corvette won the Best Engineered Car, Jason Harris’s “Party Time” Harold Denton tribute ’69 Camaro won Best Appearing Car, and Kallee Mills’ team won the Best Appearing Crew award. The drivers who didn’t qualify for the main 32-car race will have the opportunity to compete in the Outlaw Light Beer Wild Card Shootout, a full five-round race using a traditional ladder and paying $15,000 to win. Pro Mod First-Round Pairings: Rian Hayward vs. Joey Martin, Adriano Kayayan vs. Kye Kelley, Spencer Hyde vs. Kenny Lang, Victor Alvarez vs. Jacob McNeal, Mike Decker Jr. vs. Robin Roberts, Kallee Mills vs. Billy Banaka, Randy Weatherford vs. Mike Bowman, Aaron Stanfield vs. Sidnei Frigo, Johnny Camp vs. Tommy D’Aprile, Ned Dunphy vs. Jason Lee, Lyle Barnett vs. Peter Norton, Ryan Martin vs. Shawn Ellington, Steve Jackson vs. Raymond Matos, Jason Harris vs. Greg Blevins Jr., Derek Menholt vs. Ethan Steding, Eric Gustafson vs. Travis Harvey. In Pro 10.5, Super Bowl champion Fletcher Cox set low E.T. of the first round of eliminations. He ran a 3.906 at 190.14 in his nitrous-fed “Training Day” ’69 Camaro to defeat J.R. Webb and his 4.072 at 182.72. Pro 10.5 First-Round Results: Nick Agostino 3.974 def. Tony Norfleet 5.127, Steve Halprin 3.962 def. Carmen Damiani 4.082, Tim Partin 4.027 def. Larry Larson, Brad Eglian, Scott Taylor, Jason Terrell, James Daniels, Kyle Canion, Ryan Martin, and Greg Chandler also advanced to the second round. 3. For the first time, Cecil County Dragway will host a prestigious SPORTSnationals race in 2026, as the Testo NHRA Chesapeake SPORTSnationals is set for May 23-24, bringing the standout event for drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series to the NHRA Division 1 track as part of a thrilling doubleheader event over Memorial Day weekend. The historic weekend will open with a divisional race on May 21-22, leading into the Testo NHRA Chesapeake SPORTSnationals, and will host hundreds of sportsman racers from every NHRA division. Racing will take place across eight categories and big prize money and contingency payouts will be on the line at the prestigious SPORTSnationals event. It will also mark the fourth SPORTSnationals event to take place in 2026, along with the JEGS SPORTSnationals (May 22-24 at Beech Bend Raceway), the Laris Cajun SPORTSnationals (March 27-29 at Belle Rose) and the Canadian SPORTSnationals (June 11-12 at Mission Raceway Park). “We’re absolutely fired up to host the Testo NHRA Chesapeake SPORTSnationals at Cecil County Dragway for the first time,” Cecil County Dragway Owner Jim Halsey said. “This one’s for the racers and fans who’ve supported us for 25-plus years, and we’re looking forward to packing the place with racers and fans while showcasing the talent of our staff and a second-to-none racing surface. This place is BUILT to race.” Testo, which is a world market leader in the field of portable and stationary measurement solutions, was thrilled to partner with NHRA and Cecil County Dragway for the event. “Division 1 needed an NHRA SPORTSnationals and heads-up class racing in the Northeast, and Cecil County Dragway on Memorial Day Weekend is perfect for it. As a class-racer here, this had to take place, so we made sure it did,” said Michael Ficacci, Testo Vice President of Marketing. “To also celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary, we’re offering all racers 15 percent off our website all year long using the coupon code NHRA15.” The divisional event kicks off the holiday weekend on Thursday and Friday, leading into the Testo NHRA Chesapeake SPORTSnationals. Class racing will also be included during the event, which will be streamed for free on NHRA.tv. and the NHRA YouTube page. The racing will be action-packed and intense, as a SPORTSnationals victory has always been a major accomplishment for any driver. That’s especially true this year, as winners will get a special diamond Wally during NHRA’s 75th anniversary season. Additional activities for the doubleheader weekend will be announced in the coming weeks. “Cecil County Dragway has earned this opportunity,” NHRA Division 1 Director Mark Dawson said. “This track, this staff and this racing community have consistently delivered, and it shows. Hosting the NHRA Chesapeake SPORTSnationals is a big moment for the facility and our division, and it’s a testament to the quality of the racing surface, the commitment of the team and the support of racers and fans who show up year after year. This is a track that’s ready for the spotlight.” For more information on NHRA, including the 2026 schedule, please visit www.nhra.com. This story was originally published on February 27, 2026. 4. Ron Capps Motorsports is proud to announce its partnership with Women in Motorsports North America (WIMNA), a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing opportunities for women across all sectors of the motorsports industry. As part of the collaboration, the WIMNA logo will appear on the Carlyle Tools Top Fuel dragster driven by Rookie of the Year contender Maddi Gordon and on team owner Ron Capps’ NAPA Auto Care Funny Car throughout the 20-race 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season. The partnership also includes coordinated social support and shared exposure opportunities designed to increase visibility for women competing and working in the auto racing industry. “I’ve always taken pride in being able to both drive and work on a car,” said Gordon, who became the 100th woman to win an NHRA national event in 2024 during her first season competing in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class. “To represent Women in Motorsports North America is really cool and I feel honored that they have taken an interest in supporting me during my rookie year. I know firsthand that there are many ways to succeed out here. Whether it’s driving, fabricating, working on a crew, handling publicity, or supporting sponsors, there’s space for women at every level.” For Capps, the partnership reflects a long-standing commitment to supporting rising talent and expanding opportunity within the sport. “Maddi represents the future of NHRA Drag Racing in more ways than one,” said Capps, who will debut as a two-car team owner when the season kicks off next weekend in Gainesville, Fla. “She’s earned her place through hard work, talent, and mechanical know-how. Partnering with WIMNA aligns with what we believe as a team. We actually had their decal on my car at the NHRA Finals in November, and we’re happy to continue to support and help provide exposure for the organization however we can.” “Having Maddi represent Women in Motorsports North America is more than visibility, it’s validation,” said Cindy Sisson, Executive Director of WIMNA. “Her presence in Top Fuel demonstrates that women belong at the highest levels, both competitively and technically. Seeing the WIMNA logo on Maddi and Ron’s cars amplifies that message nationwide.” NHRA’s 75th anniversary season opens next weekend with the NHRA Gatornationals at historic Gainesville Raceway, March 6 – 8. 6. NHRA announced today that Hoosier Racing Tire has been named the presenting sponsor of the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Series, the world’s largest motorsports program when it comes to racer participation, as part of an impressive expansion for the 2026 season. The popular program, which has been expanded by 50 percent, will now include 12 E.T. Finals in 2026 across the United States and Canada, as well as an increase to 16 racers in each category and doubling the number of racers who will be competing at the world championship in Las Vegas. It shows the notable growth in the NHRA Summit Racing Series presented by Hoosier over the past several seasons. In 2024, an Eastern Canada E.T. Finals took place for the first time, while last year, winners in the Eastern Canada Division advanced to compete for a world championship in Las Vegas. Now, four additional E.T. Finals have been added, including new events in Northern Mississippi (Holly Springs), Western Kansas (SRCA Dragstrip), Northern California (Redding Motorsports Park) and Western Canada (RAD Torque Raceway). NHRA will also create a $30,000 Hoosier Prize Pool, which will be shared among the E.T. Finals winners and national champions who use Hoosier Tire. “Becoming the presenting partner of the NHRA Summit E.T. Series is a natural fit for Hoosier,” said Paul Menting, VP of Sales, Hoosier Racing Tire. “The series represents the passion, dedication, and competitive spirit that define grassroots drag racing. We’re excited to deepen our partnership with the NHRA and continue supporting the racers and tracks that drive the future of our sport.” The expansion gives racers a better opportunity to compete close to home and advance to the NHRA Summit Racing Series presented by Hoosier World Championship, which takes place Oct. 29-Nov. 1 as part of the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Drivers in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle will compete at NHRA member tracks across North America during the 2026 season. The four class champions from the 12 E.T. Finals events, along with wild card entries from Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4, will earn their spot to compete for a world championship in Las Vegas. Summit Racing Equipment, an industry leader in the distribution of auto racing parts and equipment through catalogs and the Internet, remains a massive supporter of the program with a partnership that spans nearly 25 years. “With the expansion of the NHRA Summit Racing Series presented by Hoosier to 12 E.T. finals, it’s super exciting to see thriving series continue to grow,” said Jim Greenleaf, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports & Events Manager. “There are so many great opportunities for racers to compete across North America and Summit Racing Equipment is thrilled to continue this partnership. “These competitors are so talented and this series provides such a deserved spotlight for them. We look forward to working with Hoosier Racing Tire on this program and we can’t wait for an incredible year in 2026.” On the “Road to Vegas,” tens of thousands of drivers will compete for event wins. The 12 E.T. Finals winners receive an impressive prize package, including a Wally trophy, jacket, and purse, along with bonus travel money for all 64 qualifiers to attend the world championship in Las Vegas. At the national event, each championship contender can enjoy a memorable experience that includes a welcome dinner, an introduction during pre-race ceremonies at the NHRA national event and a huge spotlight all weekend as they compete for a world championship in front of a huge Las Vegas crowd. “This is a landmark moment for bracket racers in the NHRA,” NHRA Sportsman Manager Jason Galvin said. “Thank you to Jim Greenleaf and everyone at Summit Racing Equipment for being open to expansion and pushing for new opportunities, and to the entire Hoosier team for jumping at the opportunity to provide more racing across the country for the true heartbeat of this sport, bracket racers. The NHRA cannot wait to show off this expanded program and to celebrate the 64 racers who will qualify for the finals in Las Vegas. They are in for the experience of a lifetime on the grandest stage.” National champions in 2025 included Matt Witkowski (Division 1) in Super Pro, Michael Fornwalt (Division 1) in Pro, Gage Wilson (Division 4) in Sportsman and Michael Schamlle (Division 3) in Motorcycle. 18. It’s time for some more tool testing and this time it is one of my favorite cordless tools, even though it took forever for me to start using one. I, like many of you out there, seem to reach for hand tools when a cordless or air tool is available to do the job quicker. It means things take more time and effort to do, so using the power tool is the smart way to go. Those folks who work on cars everyday know that these tools make you money if you can get a job done quicker, and of course all car junkies love tools so we want the cool stuff too. When I got my cordless ratchet, I bought it because it was too cheap on clearance not to. And I love how well it works to remove bolts and nuts that just take time to work off. They are a big time saver, that’s for sure, and even though mine is just a 12v unit, it absolutely gets the job done. But if you are shopping for a good cordless ratchet, which ones should you be looking at? Despite color, which one of these units is actually best? Video Description: Lifetime of weekly updated tool rankings spreadsheet: https://torquetestchannel.etsy.com/li… How does the new Milwaukee new M12 3053 compare to past ratchets from them like their high speed 2566, insider and high torque models? Noted as the final inside-plug Type 128 D V-12 California Spider, it is offered following 19 years of careful stewardship and carries a significant concours record including Cavallino Platinum and FCA Platinum honors. 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari – Delivered new to California in March 2015, this one-owner example displays just 554 miles at cataloguing time and is finished in Nero over a black interior trimmed in leather and Alcantara with extensive carbon fiber. Accompanied by a copy of its window sticker and Ferrari Classiche “Yellow Book,” the LaFerrari stands among the defining hybrid hypercars of its era. 2024 Bugatti Bolide – Limited to just 40 examples, the Bolide represents the final expression of Bugatti’s W-16 era, built as a pure track-focused machine without road-car compromises. This one-owner example, finished in Blue Royal tinted carbon with Agile Blue accents, shows just 77 miles at cataloguing time and is accompanied by its flight cases, manuals, and factory accessories. 1992 Ferrari F40 – Offered from the Drift Capital Collection, this ultra-late production Italian-market example shows just 1,418 kilometers at cataloguing time and retains exceptional originality throughout. 24. Unless you recently bought a new air compessor, you are probably like most of us and own at least one that is old. It might still work perfectly fine, but unless you have a super fancy setup you probably don’t have some of the higher end features like a dryer, muffler, and more. And it is all DIY so you can do the same thing on your own compressor at home. And to be fair, you don’t need an old compressor for these mods either. If you have a newer compressor that just doesn’t have these features, which makes up most of them that we might buy for our garage or shop, then you can totally do these upgrades yourself. Video Description: In this video I give my workshop air compressor a much-needed upgrade to make it quieter, cooler, and more reliable. I start by building a custom intake muffler to dramatically reduce compressor noise, making it far more workshop-friendly. From there, I install an air cooler and water trap to remove moisture from the system — a must for plasma cutting and long-term reliability. To finish things off, I do a general tidy-up, re-route lines, and give the compressor a fresh paint job to bring it back to life. If you’re into DIY workshop upgrades, tool modifications, or just making noisy gear work better, this one’s for you. The post Got An Air Compressor That Needs Some Love? Here Are Some Cheap But Super Effective Upgrades To Make It Work Best! appeared first on BangShift.com. View the full article
