  3. Last fall Disco Dean Karns crashed his awesome Pontiac Firebird Trans Am they called Stinky Pinky 5, and while Dean came out of it okay, the same could not be said for the poor Trans Am. This was an awesome car, and super popular with the fans, but there is something about this new Chevelle that does it for me too. Showing up at Darana Motorsports Park for the first race on this new car had Dean nervous, but Jesse and the crew had him setup and good. Apparently better than he could even have expected. Check out the drama leading up to that first run, and what it meant for the team. The post Stinky Pinky 6 Debut! Disco Dean Karns NEW CAR Debut! FIRST HIT And It Runs 3.70! 4. Jay Leno has got some of the most awesome cars on the planet, as we’ve all seen parts of his collection over the years. And he’s wealthy enough to buy any car he could ever want, so it should come as no surprise that he ordered up and got a new Corvette ZR1X when they came out. If you have been living under a rock, these beasts are capable of mid 8 second timeslips at the dragstrip, will run 233 mph from the factory flat out, and they beat just about every exotic on the planet in every other measure. Oh, and their cheap. Well cheap compared to a Bugatti, Ferrari, or Lambo. Video Description: Jay Leno just took delivery of his personal 2026 Corvette ZR1X, and it’s already breaking records. With an 8.6-second quarter mile and a 0-60 time of 1.6 seconds, Jay calls this the “greatest high-performance deal in history.” In this exclusive episode, Jay is joined by Mark Reuss, President of General Motors, to explore the engineering marvel that is the C8 ZR1X. While European exotics cost millions, Jay points out that his ZR1X costs less than the sales tax on a typical Ferrari or Lamborghini, yet it outperforms them on almost every playing field. Powered by a dual-overhead-cam, four-valve V8 with a flat-plane crank and electrification on the front end, the ZR1X delivers an additional 187 horsepower through the front wheels for a total performance experience that Mark Reuss personally validated at 233 mph. Jay takes us through his bespoke spec, including the racing seats, carbon fiber wheels, and the massive 10-piston caliper ceramic brake package. The post Better Than a Bugatti? Here’s Why Jay Leno Paid Full Price for his 2026 Corvette ZR1X. How Bad Ass Is It Really? appeared first on BangShift.com. View the full article
  5. It’s never been easier to LS or LT swap something, and there are a ton of companies making parts. Engine mounts, gotta be 100 companies making them. Headers, probably 100 as well. Brackets, transmission mounts, accessory drives? Yep, they gottem. But one of the most annoying things about performing a swap is hunting to find the combinations that will fit in your ride. It can be overwhelming, because the only way to find out what works is to ask a jillion folks who’ve already done it to see what combos they’ve done. OR, you can buy a complete system which saves you time, money, and headache. That’s where Holley comes in. If you own a GM Car or Truck and want to stuff an LS or LT in it where a small block or big block existed before, then Holley’s probably got a kit for it. We’re talking about a ton of 1960’s to 1990’s GM vehicles. Trucks, cars, you name it. Here’s some info below. Video Description: Holley Swap Essentials is the most complete, verified-fit LS and LT engine swap system for classic GM cars and trucks. Designed for 60s–90s platforms like A-Body, G-Body, F-Body, C10, S10, and GMT400, these kits eliminate guesswork with perfectly matched components built to work together. Choose from five kit levels. From basic engine and transmission mounts to a complete system with oil pan, Hooker Blackheart headers, full exhaust, and front accessory drive with A/C and power steering. Every package is engineered for proper fitment, driveline angles, and maximum clearance. Stop mixing parts and start your swap with confidence. Holley Swap Essentials saves time, reduces frustration, and delivers professional results for any budget. Learn more at Holley.com and your favorite performance retailer. 7. (Photos by Kim Fuller & Ken Hughes) • Leah Pruett closed out Pomona Winternationals qualifying with a strong run, but her first No. 1 qualifier since 2023 and 16th in her career was clinched on the strength of Friday’s 3.724 at 329.75-mph in her Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters-backed Top Fuel Dragster. Since there are only 15 Top Fuelers, he’ll get a first-round bye on Sunday to open eliminations, Pruett has a great opportunity to pick up her first victory of the season. “We’re thrilled with where our performance is at and the confidence and momentum is building with this team,” Pruett said. “Yeah, I’m happy. I have my own work to do, but man, we’re moving and grooving and looking forward to eliminations.”

Originally from Redlands, California, Pruett has two previous Winternationals wins in 2017 and 2021. J.R. Todd put himself in a great spot to win the 1,000th Funny Car race in NHRA history, powering to the No. 1 spot for the first time in five years with a run of 3.896 at 335.32 in his DHL Toyota GR Supra-bodied funny car. He’ll open eliminations against Blake Alexander, looking for his first win of the season, but the past champion was thrilled with Saturday’s success, finishing with his 15th No. 1 qualifier and first since the 2021 campaign. “It just shows that the performance of our DHL hot rod, that it’s coming around thanks to Dickie (Venables) and Todd (Smith),” Todd said. “It was awesome to see that 3.89 come up on the scoreboard when I went by, but I’m just happy for the guys; they put in so much hard work back there in the pit area. “I saw the 1,000th Funny Car winner trophy on the wall up there in Q3. That’d be an awesome accomplishment. There’s been a lot of great Funny Car drivers and it was pretty awesome to see Shawn [Langdon, Top Fuel teammate] get the [1,000th Top Fuel win] last year in Charlotte. So, if we could pull that off and put that trophy next to his at the shop, I think that would make Connie [Kalitta, team owner] really happy. I love coming here. There’s a lot of history at this place and hopefully we can add some more history tomorrow.” NHRA Phoenix winner Ron Capps qualified second after a run of 3.919 at 330.88 and Jordan Vandergriff took third with a 3.925 at 329.99. In Pro Stock, Greg Anderson took the No. 1 spot for the second time this season and the 142nd time in his career, improving on Friday’s run with a stellar pass of 6.516 at 209.69 in his Hendrick Cars-backed Camaro. He set the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip track record for elapsed time (6.476) at this event one year ago. Anderson will open eliminations against Kenny Delco, looking for his first victory of the season and his 17th career win in Pomona. In Legacy Nitro Funny Car at the Winternationals, Sunday will bring the second round of eliminations, with Geoff Monise, driving the Quarter Pounder Firebird taking a first round victory over Eily Stafford in Don Nelson’s California Hustler Firebird. Final Eliminations for the 66th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals begin at 10 a.m. PT on Sunday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. Television coverage on Sunday, April 12, 2026, includes a qualifying show from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. ET on FS1 and eliminations from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. ET on FS1. 8. Six-time Pro Stock world champion Greg Anderson is one of the most decorated drivers in the history of the sport, and in qualifying for the 66th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals, he notched another triumph with the 142nd pole of his career. Anderson added the No. 1 qualifier award to the pile there at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, inching ever closer to Funny Car legend John Force’s record of 167. For now, the most winning driver in the history of Pro Stock is dialed into what it’s going to take to turn that No. 1 in to his 113th win. “We made some great runs this weekend with my HendrickCars.com Chevrolet, and the only run we didn’t do well was that last one – I was on a good pass, it felt great, but it seemed like I drove over a banana peel and the car turned 90 degrees when I got it into high gear,” shared Anderson. “There’s no sense in risking anything, so I shut it off. Hopefully, tomorrow will be all-HendrickCars.com, all-KB Titan Racing.” Anderson knows the potential of the historic Southern California dragstrip. He set the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip track record for elapsed time (6.476) at this event one year ago, and he did it on the pass that came with the final-round win light. As the defending event titlist, the six-time world champ is eager to defend the title and add a 17th Pomona win to his resume. He currently stands as the second-most winning professional driver of all time at this facility, and one more triumph would tie him with Funny Car legend John Force for most overall. “That’s pretty damn cool,” said Anderson. “Anytime you can match John Force, that’s beyond crazy and one hell of an honor. I’m going to keep digging, keep trying, and see if I can get one up on him.” Anderson is off to a strong start with three incredible runs that kept him ahead of the field. In the first session, he flew to a 6.583, 209.52 that was good for the No. 1 spot. He continued to clock low elapsed time of the session through each of the next two rounds, recording a 6.544, 209.39 followed by a 6.516, 209.69 in the third qualifier. He’s set to square off with veteran racer Kenny Delco in the first round. “I love racing here, and as long as the weather holds out, I have a great shot at getting that NHRA 75th anniversary Diamond Wally tomorrow,” said Anderson. Eliminations at the 66th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. 9. Top Fuel’s Doug Kalitta continued to rule the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge on Saturday at In-N-Out Pomona Dragstrip, winning the bonus race for a second straight time after beating Maddi Gordon on the final round as part of the 66th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals. Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock) won the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, while Leah Pruett (Top Fuel), J.R. Todd (Funny Car) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) all qualified No. 1 at the third of 20 races during the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season. Kalitta has simply been dominant in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge the past two years, winning for the seventh time since the start of 2025, with Saturday’s coming after going 3.747-seconds at 333.66 mph in his Mac Tools dragster to hold off the rookie sensation Gordon. Saturday success has proven beneficial for the Kalitta Motorsports team, as the reigning world champion entered the weekend as the points leader. Already the winningest Top Fuel driver at Pomona, he’ll look to win at the historic track for the eighth time on Sunday. “I think the fans like racing on Saturday. I think it’s cool just to be able to just try to outrun the people you raced the previous race, and winning these things on Saturday is huge momentum for everybody on our team,” Kalitta said. “Every time we go up there, regardless of what we’re doing with somebody in the other lane, I’m always just trying to get the win light to come on in our lane. “The car got to about half track, and it was really cool because you can tell that the tires aren’t slipping and it’s hooked up one-to-one. I knew I had a good shot at getting the win. Tomorrow, it’s just one round at a time. Everybody’s tough, first round to fourth round, if you can make it that far.” Leah Pruett closed out qualifying with a strong run, but her first No. 1 qualifier since 2023 and 16th in her career was clinched on the strength of Friday’s 3.724 at 329.75-mph in her 12,000-horsepower Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters dragster. She’ll get a first-round bye on Sunday to open eliminations and a race after advancing to the final round, Pruett has a great opportunity to pick up her first victory of the season. “We’re thrilled with where our performance is at and the confidence and momentum is building with this team,” Pruett said. “Yeah, I’m happy. I have my own work to do, but man, we’re moving and grooving and looking forward to eliminations tomorrow.” Josh Hart, who won in Gainesville, qualified second with a run of 3.733 at 336.15, and Phoenix winner Shawn Langdon took third after going 3.745 at 338.51. Four-time Funny Car world champion Matt Hagan continued his own success in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, knocking off Paul Lee in the final round on Saturday with a run of 3.940 at 329.58 in his 12,000-horsepower Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage Dodge SRT Hellcat. It’s the first bonus race win of the season for Hagan, who won the overall Mission #2Fast2Tasty trophy last year in Funny Car. He made a pair of solid runs on Saturday, which could again bode well for a Sunday victory. “It’s a race inside of a race, and I hope I used up all my adrenaline for today,” Hagan said. “It’s cool, what Mission does and to be able to win some money for the crew guys and scoop up the points, it’s exciting. We’ve got a great race car this year, and I’m excited to see what we can do with it. This is one of the little accolades that we get to put up on the shelf, but I think there’s a lot more. “I’ve been dreaming about getting three trophies: the Mission Challenge, the event trophy and that 1,000th trophy Funny Car trophy, so there’s a lot to be had. That’s wishful thinking, though, because these Funny Cars are super humbling.” J.R. Todd put himself in a great spot to win the 1,000th Funny Car race in NHRA history, powering to the No. 1 spot for the first time in five years with a run of 3.896 at 335.32 in his 12,000-horsepower DHL Toyota GR Supra. He’ll open eliminations against Blake Alexander, looking for his first win of the season, but the past champion was thrilled with Saturday’s success, finishing with his 15th No. 1 qualifier and first since the 2021 campaign. “It just shows that the performance of our DHL hot rod, that it’s coming around thanks to Dickie [Venables] and Todd [Smith],” Todd said. “It was awesome to see that 3.89 come up on the scoreboard when I went by, but I’m just happy for the guys; they put in so much hard work back there in the pit area. “I saw the 1,000th Funny Car winner trophy on the wall up there in Q3. In Pro Stock, Dallas Glenn remained undefeated in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge in 2026, defeating Aaron Stanfield in the final round of the bonus race with a strong run of 6.525 at 208.55 in his RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro. Glenn, the reigning world champion, won the specialty event in Phoenix and had no issues on Saturday in Pomona, cruising to two impressive performances to get another bonus victory. A year after winning the world title, Glenn continues to perform at an incredible level, as he also looks to win his second straight race. “The Mission Challenge brings that race day mentality and gets you ready for Sunday,” Glenn said. “You go out there and get two win lights and that just builds the confidence to know that you can take out anybody when everything’s right. I feel like I’ve got a lot of confidence in the car and I feel like I’m driving good, where I don’t have to think about anything, and you can just go out there and do it, everything clicks and the car runs well.” Greg Anderson took the No. 1 spot for the second time this season and the 142nd time in his career, improving on Friday’s run with a stellar pass of 6.516 at 209.69 in his HendrickCars.com Camaro. Anderson will open eliminations against Kenny Delco, looking for his first victory of the season and his 17th career win in Pomona. 14. Top Fuel’s Leah Pruett jumped to the top spot on the final pass of Friday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, taking the provisional No. 1 spot for Tony Stewart Racing at the 66th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals. Jordan Vandergriff (Funny Car) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) are also the provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the third of 20 races during the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season. Pruett returned to the driver’s seat to start the season and has been outstanding thus far, including Friday’s top run of 3.724 at 329.75-mph in her 12,000-horsepower Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters dragster. It comes a race after Pruett advanced to the final round in Phoenix as she continues to build momentum early in the year. If Friday’s run holds at her home track, Pruett would pick up her 16th career No. 1 spot and first of the season during what she hopes is a big weekend in Pomona. “What we’re seeing today is the cohesiveness of our whole team, the collaboration that has happened over the last year and a half,” Pruett said. “Tony’s [Stewart] competitiveness last year shows how this team has gelled so well and worked really, really hard. “Temperatures will be cool tomorrow and my opinion is 3.72 is not going to hold, not by any means. But that doesn’t mean that we still can’t come out hopefully up on top, as we work our way into having a solid 3.66-.67 foundation. That’s where our focus is right now, and I think you see that in the overall qualifying position that we’ve been in.” Josh Hart, who won in Gainesville, is currently second with a run of 3.733 at 336.15, and Phoenix winner Shawn Langdon sits third after going 3.745 at 338.51. At the 1,000th Funny Car race in NHRA history, Jordan Vandergriff continues to impress early in his Funny Car career for John Force Racing, vaulting to the No. 1 spot with a strong pass of 3.951 at 327.90 in his 12,000-horsepower Cornwell Quality Tools Chevrolet SS. It’s just Vandergriff’s third career start in Funny Car and 15th in his career and he’s on track to earn his first career No. 1 qualifier. That would continue his rapid climb in the loaded Funny Car ranks, coming after a semifinal appearance at the season-opening Gatornationals. There’s added incentive for Vandergriff, too, racing at his home track as he eyes his first career No. 1 spot. “This is definitely a new experience for me,” Vandergriff said. “I’ve never been in this position before, but I’m happy to be here. Coming into this race, I just had a feeling we were going to do well. The first two races were so hot, but we knew what we had, especially in testing before the season started. So coming here, we knew that we had a good race car. That second run felt pretty perfect, and now we’re No. 1. I’m really proud of the team. “Racing at my home track is very motivating. I have my entire family here, and this is the home track for John Force Racing, too. Pomona has always meant something special. This is where drag racing was introduced to me, and now that I’m here on the same track, it’s pretty surreal.” Vandergriff’s JFR teammate, Alexis DeJoria, is second with a 3.989 at 328.30 and Phoenix winner Ron Capps is third after a pass of 4.007 at 314.17. Pro Stock’s Greg Anderson put on a show at a track where he’s won 16 times in his standout career, making the quickest run in both qualifying sessions on Friday, including a 6.544 at 209.39 to close out the day in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro that puts him in the provisional spot in Pomona. He’s the defending event winner at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals and Anderson always seems to run well at the historic facility. The six-time world champion hopes that continues this weekend, especially after stubbing his toe in Phoenix, losing in a first-round upset to Chris McGaha after qualifying No. 1. “We come here and we got a decent racetrack that we’re all used to. The grip numbers are back up where we’re used to, and you can run fast,” Anderson said. “Quite honestly, we all missed in the first session. We all should have run better, but that’s because we were too shy. After the first run, everybody learned, so everybody stepped up and it’ll continue to get better tomorrow. “The field is nowhere near set. It’s going to reset, probably from top to bottom again. This is a great Pro Stock track. You’re going to see this Pro Stock field probably end up being three-hundredths [of a second] from top to bottom, from No. 1 to No. 16.” Reigning world champion and Phoenix event winner Dallas Glenn is currently second with a 6.553 at 209.17 and Greg Stanfield sits third after his 6.568 at 209.07. Qualifying continues at 12:30 p.m. PT on Saturday at the 66th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. This story was originally published on April 11, 2026. We were both invited to dinner with a group of people that lets just say were a little mismatched, at least on the surface. Because all of us were car guys, there was some common language, but when Alex and I realized that we were both from Northern California we had an instant connection. Everyone knows that there is always some connection between people that grew up in the same area, even if they were from different neighborhoods. That is me and Alex. Alex is as hardcore as anyone about cars, and he and I immediatley clicked. When he told me about his Rose Gold Caprice build I’ll admit I wasn’t super excited, because I’m just not into Donks. I mean I appreciate them, and love that other folks like them, but they just don’t get me revved up usually. And then he told me about the engine combo, and I was immediately interested and excited. This beast makes 1,000 horsepower without working hard, and could make as much as 1,700 to the tire if it was turned up, as it runs the X275 legal F1X ProCharger on a built LS. The entire car was built through Sac Speed Shop, Alex’s company, and the car is epic because it runs as hard as it is pretty. In the video below you’ll see what makes this thing special and that they are not afraid to beat it like a rented mule! Video Description: Sac Speed Shop (Sacramento) built a renowned 1971 Chevrolet Caprice “donk” owned by Alex Hernandez, featuring a ProCharged LS7 or 427 LSX engine producing upwards of 900-1000 HP. This high-performance build features a distinctive rose gold/mauve finish, 26-inch Forgiato wheels, and custom Lingenfelter components, making it a prominent street-and-strip machine so sit back and enjoy the ride! 22. Jerry Bickel Race Cars is doing something that should surprise absolutely no one who’s been paying attention to how Rick Hord runs this operation: they’re making life easier for racers. Ahead of the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte April 24-26, JBRC is offering free shipping and direct pit delivery for any parts ordered by Thursday, April 16. That means you call Jerry Bickel Race Cars, place your order, and your parts show up at zMAX – no additional shipping costs, no hassle. That’s the kind of service that separates a parts supplier from a partner. “We’re not just selling parts, we’re supporting racers,” said Hord, owner of Jerry Bickel Race Cars. “If you’re heading to Charlotte, we want to make it as easy as possible to have what you need when you get there. Order it, and we’ll bring it to you.” The offer applies to the full JBRC catalog: chassis components, suspension parts, a wide range of products from the top brands in drag racing, and anything else in the Jerry Bickel Race Cars lineup. Whether you’re prepping for NHRA Pro Mod competition, making last-minute changes, or stocking up on spares for the season ahead, this is the window. “As a racer and a race team owner, I understand what it takes to show up at the track ready to compete,” Hord added. “My family has been doing this for three generations. We know the hustle. We know what it costs – not just money, but time and energy. If we can take one thing off a racer’s plate and save them a few bucks in the process, that’s what we’re going to do. That’s how we’d want to be treated, and that’s how we run Jerry Bickel Race Cars.” The NHRA 4-Wide Nationals marks a major early-season stop on the 2026 NHRA schedule, featuring the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports as it celebrates its 25th anniversary season. Expect a loaded field – and expect JBRC-chassied cars to be well-represented in the staging lanes. To place your order, contact Jerry Bickel Race Cars at 636-356-4727 or visit www.jerrybickel.com. Deadline for free pit delivery at zMAX is Thursday, April 16. This story was originally published on April 10, 2026. 24. After a sellout crowd in 2025, promoter Corey Stamper and track co-owners Seth and Zach Buff are bringing the 9th annual Strange Engineering Ronnie Buff Memorial featuring King of the South 3 into Shadyside Dragway May 21-24. The event guarantees to be better than ever, with more classes, bigger payouts, and a brand-new livestreaming partner in FloRacing. Once again, the King of the South small-tire invitational – 64 of the baddest 28×10.5 cars in the country – will headline the show, with the winner taking home $75,000. Last year, Larry Larson defeated Lyle Barnett by a miniscule .004 margin of victory to walk away with $75k. The two veterans will once again lead a stacked field with names like Ryan Martin, Bill Lutz, Kye Kelley, Ryan Mitchell and Brandon Sandlian returning once again. They’ll be joined by a host of huge names making their King of the South debut, including Shawn “Murder Nova” Ellington, Cory Reed, Scott Taylor, Cole Pesz, and Russell Stone. New this year will be payouts beyond the winner, with $2,000 going to the runner-up, $1,000 to semifinalists, $500 to the quarters, and $200 to the round-of-16. There is also a free entry, $1,000-to-win second chance race for first-round losers. “These are the baddest of the bad on a 28×10.5 tire,” said Stamper. “You can’t take anybody lightly in this field. I want the fastest of the fast, with side-by-side action, and when we put these 64 cars together, that’s what we looked for. We’re just trying to push it to make it better. We were talking about whether we should add money [to the winner] or pay back more, and I said, ‘Let’s pay back more.’ $75,000 is pretty big to win anyways, and if you make it down to16 cars in this field, you’re doing work, because it’s gangsters every round.” Making its debut in 2026 is the Knight of the South, a 16-car invitational on even smaller 26×8.5 tires. The class will pay $8,000 to win, with $1,000 for the runner-up and $500 for semifinalists. Returning to the Ronnie Buff Memorial is the hugely popular Lil Gangstas class led by Tom Gunner (better known as Jimmy Dale) and Michael Poland. The 64-car invitational will feature two races in one weekend, with $15,000 being paid to the winner on both Saturday and Sunday. In addition, the event will feature SC Raceworks Street Racer 6.30 Index, the Bracket Misfits 16-car invitational, IHRA Teen Championship Race, and the $7,500-to-win Kettle Kings Concessions Practice Tree Shootout on Friday night. “Our 6.30 Index class is probably one of the biggest growing classes we have at Shadyside,” Stamper said. “It’s averaging 20 to 35 cars, with a lot of people showing out in street-style cars. And the cool thing is it has the same rule set as Lil Gangstas, so if they decide next year they want to step up, all they got to do is get a little faster.” With King of the South exploding in popularity – last year, the fire marshal had to come and close the gates on Saturday due to the immense crowd – Stamper knew he needed to step up the production level in all facets of the event; not just with the race itself, but with the livestreaming broadcast as well. FloRacing stepped up, partnering with Stamper and Shadyside to bring complete eliminations coverage on Saturday and Sunday. “The past couple years my company, Spoold Media, has handled the feed,” said Stamper. “Flo came in with an opportunity to really put this out to the world, and they bring in such a professional operation, from interviews to multiple camera angles. After watching their coverage of the Winter Series and seeing the production and professionalism with it, I knew we needed the Strange Engineering Ronnie Buff Memorial to take that next step up in coverage. It’s awesome to see these racers, from the bigger names to even our local guys, be put on a national stage like never before.” Heading up FloRacing’s stream will be longtime drag racer Kayla Morton, who burst onto the reporting scene at the Drag Illustrated Winter Series, joining Courtney Enders, Brian Lohnes, and Mike Carpenter during Flo’s broadcasts of all three events. With close ties to many of the racers competing at Shadyside, Morton will be able to give an inside look at everything going on behind-the-scenes throughout the weekend. “This is an iconic race, the pinnacle for small-tire racers from across the U.S.,” said Morton. “An invite-only for cars that have proven their worth for a guaranteed purse of nearly $83,000. Shadyside feels gritty, exciting, and raw. It’s a mean dragstrip that is full of diversity. A place where all the people come together to be a part of a legendary event. There are big names here, but a 28-inch tire will humble those names quick. It’s a challenging tire to drive on and a race that requires six winning passes to secure the title. “I’m fired up to bring coverage for this event through Flo and to showcase the little things that make this event so special,” Morton added. “This is a race where you’re gonna find chicken on the bbq you’re welcome to eat, a beer to wash it down with, and then get to throw dice for dessert. Flo hit the jackpot here if you ask me. King of the South is always one for the books and I’m privileged to be the girl who gets to share it with the drag racing fans that can’t attend.” As in previous years, tickets will only be sold at the gate. Fans can watch testing on Thursday and Friday for $20 per day; Eliminations take place on Saturday and Sunday, which are both $35 per day. A “King Pass” is also available for $80, allowing spectators to attend all four days. For those on the fence, Stamper suggests arriving early and securing a weekend pass, as the event is almost guaranteed to sell out, and preparations are well under way to handle the crowds. “Show up early because it’s going to sell out,” said Stamper. “We’re already plowing the field that’s up by Seth and Zach’s grandma’s house, tearing trees down and flattening that out to add even more parking. They went and bulldozed the land on the third level of the pits to have room to bring in more rigs. They acquired new land to park spectators. We’re building up on as much as we can right now.” Fans can subscribe to FloRacing at www.FloRacing.com and watch the livestream via the following link: https://flosports.link/4rO8QAL The post King of the South Small-Tire Invitational Continues to Grow, Partners with FloRacing first appeared on Drag Illustrated. 25. The Ride, The Risk, and the City There’s a certain rhythm to riding through a city that never really slows down. Engines hum between traffic lights, tires trace imperfect asphalt, and every intersection carries a quiet sense of unpredictability. In places like Chicago, where congestion, tight lanes, and constant motion define the streets, riding demands more than a love of the road. It demands awareness and instinct. For many riders, especially those drawn to stripped-down machines and raw builds, the […] The post The Crash Isn’t the End—It’s Where the Real Fight Begins appeared first on Return of the Cafe Racers.
