  1. Sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s made for near-perfect conditions as Import Face-Off rolled into Famoso Dragstrip Sunday, February 22, delivering one of the strongest stops yet at the Bakersfield facility. A strong crowd filled the grounds throughout the day, with fans lining the fence, packing the pit area, and enjoying the wide range of activities that make Import Face-Off unique. The energy was high from start to finish as competitors and spectators alike took advantage of the ideal weather. On track, a diverse field of import cars, trucks, and sport bikes battled down the quarter-mile, chasing quick elapsed times and top speeds. In the show area, a polished lineup of cars, trucks, and bikes competed for awards, drawing steady attention from fans. Fan-favorite competitions kept the excitement level up all afternoon. The low car limbo contest drew cheers as participants pushed suspension limits, while the always-popular 2-step competition brought rev limiters, flames, and plenty of crowd reaction. DJs provided music throughout the event, and vendors offered performance parts, apparel, and automotive merchandise along the midway. With excellent weather and strong participation across all categories, Sunday’s Import Face-Off once again demonstrated the versatility of Famoso Dragstrip and its ability to host high-energy automotive culture events alongside traditional drag racing. 2. Hull Racing led by team owner and driver Buddy Hull will start the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series at the historic Gatornationals with new sponsor and marketing partner FS Performance and Sam Pack Ford on their 12,000-horspowered Funny Car. The design will mirror the 2025 high performance Mustang GT Premium that the dealership designed at the end of the year. The limited-edition Ford Mustang “Buddy Hull” specialty car is inspired by the same grit, attitude and adrenaline that drives his Nitro Funny Car program. Over the off-season Hull Racing led by crew chiefs Mike Guger and Matt Bynum have been preparing for the season opener. “We are taking the opportunity to work with Sam Pack Ford and FS Performance to the next level,” said Hull. “It is one thing to have a car on display, but when you can put that car on the racetrack at the Gatornationals in front of the whole world of drag racing that will be so cool. I was able to be a part of the Mustang GT Premium design process and give them ideas on the performance levels of the Mustang as well as styling suggestions to make it very personal to my brand. I have been doing the same thing with Mike (Guger), Matt (Bynum) and the team on the big show Funny Car.” FS Performance Funny Car will also carry the branding from Red Line Oil, Gates Belts, 360 Wraps and Hull’s main business Vertex General Contractors. The team will also be promoting Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull, the award-winning television show that will return for its third season in 2026. “We are building this program with some amazing companies and marketing partners but really Vertex has been a huge part of my business success,” said Hull. “We had a record-setting year last year and we are off to a great start in 2026. The key will be balancing the racing and the business. It is coming together really well and I am excited to be working with Red Line Oil and Gates Belts we have some really cool programs in the works.” The FS Performance Funny Car will be in Gainesville, Florida early for some pre-race testing with the rest of the Top Fuel and Funny Car teams. Hull will also be attending the Gatornationals FanFest at Josh Hart’s Burnyzz Speed Shop on Wednesday, March 4 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. signing autographs and taking photos with fans at this annual free pre-race event. Throughout the weekend of the Gatornationals Hull will be talking with fans and sponsors. 4. It’s already time for the World Finals of the STM Powersports Snow Outlaws snowmobile drag racing series, as another warmth shortened season finishes up this weekend (Friday, February 27th and Saturday the 28th) at Three Lakes-Brule River Trails at Spirit Lake, 1426 State Highway 32 in Three Lakes, Wisconsin, USA. The only warmth at Three Lakes this weekend, though, will be the nitro exhaust and hot action of the wild Snow Outlaws sleds as they slice roostertails across the purpose-built, 500-foot, snow-packed racing surface. Friday will be balmy, but those not up to the challenges of Saturday’s single degree temps can enjoy the full-scale live video production courtesy of IHRA. St. Germain Outlaw class winner Tyson Enerson will be looking to repeat on his unique compressed air supercharged, Hypersports, gasoline-fueled two-cylinder sled. The win happened largely due to Enerson’s huge jump on Dominick Ernst at the starting line. Ernst’s screw-supercharged, nitro “Eagle-1” was gaining but came up short. Still, Enerson’s sled is brand new, with lots still to be learned every pass about its unique supercharging system. St. Germain number one qualifier Ethan Erhardt is motivated to complete the job this time, as are Johnathan Lentzkow, R. Dustin, three class competitor Jagger Ashley, the Return of Alec Gibas, and more. St. Germain winner Brian Sullivan is always a good bet to win Pro Xtreme 55 on his “John Deere” sled, but he’ll face a lot of serious competition. That includes St. Germain runner-up Kyle Viney, Pro Modified runner-up Jesse Bruns on Troy Larson’s red sled, Ashley, Devin Kirane, Scott Kostman, Casey Down, Ryan Santry and more. Ashley won Pro Mod at St. Germain and will look to do the same this weekend. Louis Goldbach, Tyler Stelton, Candace Down, Dante Gratti and many, many more will stand in his way. So get out in the snow while you still can. Remember, Snow Outlaws races are always FREE for spectators! Friday’s explosive nighttime qualifying is at 6:00pm, 7:00pm, and 8:00pm. Saturday’s eliminations start at noon with the finals running promptly at 4:00pm (or 3:00, depending on sled count). Chad and Jenny Nyhus and the whole Snow Outlaws crew will have the Three Lakes track on point for the racers and good times aplenty for the spectators. So racer or spectator, get out and have some fun! This story was originally published on February 24, 2026. The post Snow Outlaws Set to Shred Spirit Lake first appeared on Drag Illustrated. 8. (Words and Photos by Chad Reynolds) I hit the Lone Star Throwdown in Conroe Texas this weekend and as usual was blown away by the turnout of great trucks. When I arrived at the just after it opened, I have to admit I was a bit worried. The place was not full. Not by a long shot. Now we normally get down here to the show an hour or so later, so I was trying to convince myself it was going to be okay, but I wasn’t doing a very good job of it. That was until about 10, when a definite increase in the hum around the places started happening and cruise traffic started really increasing. By the time I left the show a few hours later it was hopping as usual. And while the morning started off chilly and overcast, the grounds were in great shape with little or no wet spots from the showers that were expected Friday. And by 10 am I had to take my hoodie off because it was just too warm. It was great weather for a truck show friends. The food trucks were slinging snacks, although I didn’t see the hot chocolate ans s’mores folks from last year that made a killing. It really was a great day at the show. Lone Star Throwdown, or LST as it’s often referred to, is one of the premier custom truck shows in the country, and it happens rain or shine. This show is always one of my favorites. It draws folks from all over the country, along with Canada and Mexico. In 2027 you’ll find us on site with the OBS Suburban project you guys don’t know about yet. And maybe a merch stand, who knows. 11. The numbers are clear and the possibilities are wide open as the Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service heads into its championship decider at this weekend’s Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by Red Line Oil, Feb. 26-28, at Bradenton Motorsports Park. With a maximum of 957 points available at WSOPM — including 900 points for the event win (1.5x points), 32 for No. 1 qualifying, and 25 for tech-in — the richest and most prestigious race of the series also carries enough weight to dramatically reshape the standings. In fact, mathematically, even a newcomer who didn’t score points at the first two races could still steal the championship under a highly unlikely “chaos scenario,” as Winter Series Race Director Gavin Carter described it, though it would require a perfect storm of early exits for the leaders. In reality, the title fight is expected to come down to a handful of leading contenders — but the path each driver must take varies significantly depending on where they sit entering the finale. The Front-Runners Jason Harris, Steve Jackson (-19), Eric Gustafson (-106) For the top three in points, the formula is simple: whoever goes the farthest in eliminations wins the championship. Just 19 points separate Harris, the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals winner, and Jackson, the U.S. Street Nationals winner, with Gustafson still well within striking distance at 106 points back. Because the gap between them is less than a round, qualifying points will not swing the outcome — it will be decided strictly by round wins. Within One Round Sidnei Frigo (-132) Frigo, the Snowbirds runner-up, sits less than a round behind Harris and enters the weekend with a clear but slightly more complicated path. If Frigo qualifies within 18 positions of Harris, he only needs to go farther than the top three to claim the title. If he qualifies outside that range, he effectively falls more than a round back and would need to go one round further than Harris — and still beat Jackson and Gustafson. Should Harris reach the finals while Frigo is outside that 18-spot window, Frigo would be eliminated from contention. The Next Wave of Contenders Randy Weatherford (-206), Derek Menholt (-235) Both drivers remain firmly in the hunt but will need help. Each must advance at least one round farther than the top four in points to win the championship. If any of the top four reach the final round, Weatherford and Menholt are mathematically eliminated. Long-Shot but Alive John Doc (-317), Kye Kelley (-320), Kallee Mills (-330), Peter Norton (-340), Billy Banaka (-417) This group faces a steeper climb: They must go two rounds further than the top four and one round further than Weatherford and Menholt. If the top four reach the semifinals, this group is eliminated. If Weatherford or Menholt reach the final, their hopes are also over. Deep Outside Shots Positions 12–21: Ken Quartuccio, Kevin Rivenbark, Jimmy Taylor, Justin Bond, Shawn Ellington, Steve King, Brylon Holder, Brandon Snider, Lyle Barnett, Spencer Hyde For this tier to claim the title, they must: Go three rounds further than the top four, Two rounds further than Weatherford/Menholt, and One round further than the Doc/Kelley/Mills/Norton/Banaka group. If the top four reach the quarterfinals, or Weatherford/Menholt the semis, or the next group the final, this tier is eliminated. Extreme Long Shots Positions 22–32: Melanie Salemi, Victor Alvarez, Kurt Steding, Tommy D’Aprile, Mike Decker III, Jim Halsey, Robin Roberts, Greg Blevins Jr., Mark Micke, Scott Taylor, Rian Hayward Their path requires a near-perfect weekend: Four rounds further than the top four, Three rounds further than Weatherford/Menholt, Two rounds further than the Doc group, and One round further than the 12–21 group. If the leaders advance to even moderate depths — such as the round of 16 — this group’s title hopes disappear quickly. The Chaos Scenario Because of the massive points available, drivers outside the top 32 technically remain alive, but only if the standings implode — requiring multiple early exits across nearly every contender group. While improbable, the math underscores just how impactful WSOPM is within the Winter Series structure. 15. John Jackson from Not Stock Photography was back at Lone Star Throwdown 2026 and has already put out his video! This show was awesome, as always, and although I got there a bit early it sure filled out and was packed in the afternoon. This show is one of the best truck shows in the country, make no mistake, and for sure is the biggest and baddest show in Texas. They sell out of entries for this event each and every year, and we understand why when the weather is great and the trucks are everywhere. Video Description: Truck Show Season is officially back……….Its Lonestar Throwdown 2026 I know we get a big hotrod show in California in February with the GrandNational Roadster Show, but I like to chill out in Texas till LST comes around, and hang out with all my custom truck friends. I always get asked why I choose to make this my first show of the year, and basically its my roots(even though its changed a ton). When I was a kid I wanted a VW or a HotRod, but what I got was a 1982 Ford Ranger that I immediately cut the coil springs on, and performed the worst two tone paint job you’ve ever seen haha. I showed up on Thursday to LST with Wayne,Guy, and Ryan to basically just hang out and enjoy the scenery(and cruise the corvair van a bit). It was pretty laid back, but busy for a Thursday so didn’t really get any footage. Friday we rolled in around 9, and I wandered around seeing old friends, and checking out cool builds……..and eating way too much Jalapeno Cheese Sausage haha. Saturday was crazy it started off pretty slow, and around 10:30 I thought I was going to take a lap, but noticed the long line of spectators funneling in, and the cruise line was already nose to tail. I got a couple laps in, but decided to hang out in the tent(and steal Tacos) from them Good Ol’Boys from Laredo the Estos Vatos Car Club. I can’t talk about the show without mentioning how perfect the weather was it was in the 80’s every day, but Sunday when a cold front came in, and it was 60. If you’ve had the unfortunate memory of LST’25 it never got above 35 for the whole weekend so this weekend was a great change of weather. Sunday we loaded up, and headed home I recently bought a trailer for the corvair van so I could haul it around to a few more shows this year, and the drifter pulled it without any issues(especially after figuring out it tows better with a corvair backwards on the trailer haha) Hope You enjoy the Video Congrats to Ed, and the Classic Car Studio for Winning the Amazing Best of Show Trophy this Year that looked like a Billet Oil Derrick by the guys at one ten machining. 16. 10 years ago, or so, I walked into the pit of Gary Densham at Pomona to say hi and was immediately entertained by one of Gary’s wife Joanne’s stories. I didn’t get to hear the end of the story before Gary interrupted because he was so excited to show me their brand new sponsor. He pulled me over to the double doors on the side of the trailer, which were closed, and then looked at me like “are you ready”, before pulling both doors open quickly and gesturing to the racks on the inside of the doors. I laughed when I saw that both doors were completely covered in racks of brake parts cleaner, and then Gary started talking about how great FREE brake cleaner was because they used so much of it. I laughed even though I agreed. It was the most excited I’d ever seen Gary. But not all Brake Parts Cleaner is created equal. There are chlorinated and non-chlorinated versions, every major and minor brand known to man, and you can buy it almost everywhere. So in the video below we’ve got Project Farm testing all the brake parts cleaner brands they could get their hands on. Video Description: Gunk, Lucas, CRC, Permatex, Johnsen’s, 3M, Sprayway, Berryman, Detroit Axle, Denco, SuperTech, Penray, and Gumout. Brake parts cleaners compared for speed at cutting grease and sludge, evaporation speed and residue. Price and performance analysis provides very conclusive results. 23. Drag Illustrated has officially released its highly anticipated 2025 Photo Annual, a visually driven celebration of the moments, machines, and personalities that defined the season. The newest edition is headlined by 2025 Snowbird Outlaw Nationals Pro Mod winner Jason Harris, whose standout performance at Bradenton Motorsports Park in December earned him the cover of this year’s issue. “The Photo Annual has become one of our favorite projects every year because it allows us to let the images do the talking,” said Wes Buck, Founder and Editorial Director of Drag Illustrated. “The 2025 season delivered unforgettable moments across the sport, and this issue captures them in a way only our photographers can. This also marks the second year that the Snowbirds winner snagged the cover. It keeps the conversation going and serves as a permanent reminder that Jason Harris kicked off the 2025/2026 Drag Illustrated Winter Series with a remarkable win at the Snowbirds.” Inside, readers will find an expansive feature spotlighting Harris and the rest of the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals winners, alongside more than 60 pages of striking imagery captured by Drag Illustrated’s talented roster of contributing photographers. From championship celebrations and behind-the-scenes candids to explosive on-track action, the 2025 Photo Annual delivers a comprehensive visual recap of the year that was in drag racing. “We’re proud to work with some of the most talented photographers in the sport – and within motorsports, period,” said Nate Van Wagnen, editor-in-chief, Drag Illustrated. “We showcase their work in every issue, but the Photo Annual truly belongs to the photographers. We write captions to add some context, but so many of these photos tell a story. Some of them are just flatout visually striking at first glance and some of them take a closer look to fully appreciate the photo. The digital edition of the magazine is great, but this is one issue that benefits from a deep dive into a printed copy. Huge thanks to all of the photographers who contributed to the 2025 Photo Annual.” The digital edition is available now, giving fans immediate access to the full issue, while print copies will begin arriving in subscriber mailboxes over the next two weeks. We’ve made it to the Winter Series.’ This is something I’ve looked forward to for a really long time, getting to run the Pro Mod class and competing against 80-some other drivers and fight for these 32 spots. And then when we finally get in, we’re racing round-by-round, trying to fight our way through.” Mills is doing far more than just competing, however. The former X275, Pro 10.5, and No Prep Kings standout – and 2023 Drag Illustrated 30 Under 30 honoree – is currently sitting No. 9 in the Winter Series points standings heading into the series finale, the World Series of Pro Mod presented by Red Line Oil. Mills has qualified at both of the first two events, the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals presented by Motion Raceworks in December and the U.S. Street Nationals presented by M&M Transmission in January, and won three rounds of competition thus far. Not only has the car performed well, dipping consistently into the 3.50’s, but Mills has been at the top of her game as well. According to “Stat Guy” Chris LeCloux, Mills currently has the third-best average reaction time of any Pro Mod driver in the Winter Series. Her .019 average trails only “Stevie Fast” Jackson (.016) and Jason Harris (.017), winners of the first two events. “I would say I’m one of the most consistent drivers out there on the tree,” Mills said. “Sitting third behind Jason Harris and Stevie Fast, when you think about names like that, those are legends. It’s awesome being up there with them and proving that I’m supposed to be up there going rounds at the Winter Series. We’re all there to win, and that’s what we’re going to do.” A large part of her ability to stay focused inside the car are the people outside of it. “Scarlett,” her ’68 Camaro owned by Paul and Jeanne Hayden, is tuned by Lee White, and serviced and maintained by her father DeWayne Mills, her fiancé Jordan Tally, and Taylor Strange. Having that strong family bond is important when it comes to feeling safe at over 200 mph. “In all reality, if I wasn’t comfortable in the car behind the wheel, and had people behind me that I knew were doing a great job working on and servicing the car, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing,” admitted Mills. “That’s how I can have good reaction times – I’m not worrying about other things that aren’t up to me. Having people behind you that support you and care about you – they have a little more skin in the game than just going racing on the weekend and having a good time. “These are people that I look at as family,” Mills continued. “My dad, my fiancé…and Taylor’s like a brother. When they’re working on the car, they want to make sure everything is taken care of for me. And of course, Lee does a wonderful job tuning. If we didn’t have everybody doing their job at the right time and the right amount, things wouldn’t go as smoothly.” With $150,000 on the line, the World Series of Pro Mod has created a tension and atmosphere that is seldom seen elsewhere. Drivers have folded under that pressure, turning on the red light when they normally wouldn’t, or being uncharacteristically late on the tree. But Mills is no stranger to pressure. In her 2025 Pro Mod rookie season, she faced off against veteran Randy Weatherford at the IHRA Outlaw Pro Mod Nationals with $125,000 on the line. While Weatherford narrowly took the win, Mills proved the weight of the moment doesn’t affect her. “I look at every race the same,” said Mills. “When I go up there, I want to have the best light I can and be the best driver for my team. I just keep my head down and focus on me; don’t worry about who’s in the other lane. Don’t worry about the money. Just go and do what you know to do and win rounds and do your best. Some people might take that pressure and crumble, but I would say I tend to like being the underdog. I think part of what makes me pretty good is I don’t let pressure bother me as much as some other drivers. I mean, that’s what we live for. That’s what we do this for, is for those rounds, honestly. You want to be up there and you want to be the best.” Now, with two Winter Series races under her belt, Mills is ready to return to Bradenton for the grand finale. With a huge payday and a potential points championship on the line, her team is ready to come out with guns blazing. “It’s gonna be a good time – a ‘Barn Burner’ as Wes Buck likes to say,” Mills said. “I’m looking forward to getting down there and doing the same thing we’ve done at the last two races. We’re just looking to continue that momentum and hopefully move up in points and continue to have one of the most consistent cars on the property.” This story was originally published on February 23, 2026.
