  2. This is NOT your father’s Oldsmobile, although it looks like it could be. With lots of performance upgrades, it is what a restomod is all about. Plus it has many custom features that look like they could have come in the car, but make it so much better than it was stock. This is the kind of muscle car that would be a riot to drive every day because it not only would put a smile on your face every time you hit the loud pedal, but also because it would be comfortable on nearly any road trip. Check out the video below and let us know what you think. The post 1966 Oldsmobile Feature Video: He Saved this BIG BLOCK ‘66 Oldsmobile from DESTRUCTION appeared first on BangShift.com. 4. Riding the 2000s Retro WaveThe late '90s and early '00s saw a wave of retrofuturistic cars that hit the market. Some prime examples include the New Beetle, the Mini, and the PT Cruiser. Of course, Toyota also jumped on that trend when it introduced the FJ Cruiser Concept way back in 2003 during that year's Detroit Auto Show. Reception towards it was positive, to say the least, prompting the company to bring it to life as a production model. Fast forward to February 2005: it was shown in a pre-production show at the Chicago Auto Show. In January 2006, the first batch of road-going FJ Cruisers rolled out of the Hino Motors plant in Homura, Japan. With that, this 40 Series Land Cruiser-inspired SUV turns 20 this year, earning its spot on the modern classic table. Toyota Rugged Youth UtilityNow, Toyota didn't just wake up one day and think making a classic Land Cruiser-inspired concept would be a good idea. The FJ Cruiser story dates back to the '90s, with Toyota product planner Dave Danzer and vice-president of sales and operations Yoshi Inaba. The two drummed up the modern interpretation of the 40 Series along with Akio Toyoda, and the group actually had to work in secret in the early days of the vehicle's development. The project was internally known as the Rugged Youth Utility vehicle, and its purpose was to attract younger male buyers to the Toyota brand. It started out by sticking FJ40 bodies on top of the Tacoma's chassis to see its feasibility. It's likely Akio Toyoda liked the idea. After all, we did allow this secret plan to be done at the NUMMI plant in California. The thing was, he wasn't the company's president at the time, so some serious convincing to the board had to be done for it to gain approval. Toyoda still had to tell the board that a modernized FJ40 would work and that he thought highly of the project. Of course, it also helps that your last name is also the company's namesake, but it was approved, nonetheless. Several design proposals were submitted, but it was Jin Won Kim's work that got the seal of approval. By the way, he was just 24 years old at the time...and we're now having an existential crisis. Toyota From Concept to RealityAs mentioned, the FJ Cruiser concept was a hit, and with approval from Toyota Japan, more extensive development began soon after. The frame used for the SUV was the F2 platform, the same as the 120 Series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Lexus GX, as well as the fourth-generation 4Runner and second-generation Tacoma. Test mules were extensively driven in Moab, Mojave, and the Sierra Nevada. Each one was driven to their breaking point to calibrate traction control systems and fine-tune the suspension setup. Development work was relatively quick, largely thanks to the existing F2 platform that had already undergone loads of testing prior to the FJ Cruiser's production. Toyota The SpecsExternally, the FJ Cruiser remained unchanged from its introduction through the end of production, meaning its dimensions stayed the same throughout. It was 183.9 inches long, 75.0 inches wide, 72 inches tall, and rode on a 105.9-inch wheelbase. There was also 9.6 inches worth of ground clearance, and it can ford up to 27.5 inches of water. Its 4.0-liter V6 saw some updates through the years. Initially, it made 239 hp and 278 lb-ft, but the 2010 model year added Dual VVT-i to bump it up to 259 hp and 270 lb-ft. That figure would be adjusted for 2011 to 260 hp and 271 lb-ft. Six-speed manuals were available, but most came with a five-speed automatic. Toyota Did it Sell Well?Sales in the U.S were initially strong with 56,225 sold in its first model year. The year after, 55,170 FJ Cruisers saw new homes, but then declined sharply in 2008 due to the financial crisis, and went down to just 28,688. From that moment on, the SUV would hover around the 12,000 to 15,000 units mark until it was discontinued in 2014. Interestingly, Japan had to wait until 2010 to get its hands on it despite literally being made there. It was sold there for eight years until 2018 and was more of a novelty item than a volume mover. Elsewhere, sales were decent, particularly around Africa, the Middle East, and in parts of Asia. Toyota wouldn't pull the plug right away if it wasn't making money for them, and global sales lasted until 2023. That's 16 years on a single generation. Toyota Lasting LegacyThese days, the quirky off-roader has its fans around the world and is celebrated as a cult icon of sorts. You can still see them along trails and being used as intended, as well as being cherished by their current owners. Second-hand values are still strong, and some are selling for over sticker in the used market. Its spirit lives on in some way in the new 250 Series Land Cruiser, whose design team was led by, you guessed it, Jin Won Kim. Such is the impact of that model that Toyota brought it back in the form of the Land Cruiser FJ. Unfortunately, its chances of coming stateside are slim to none as it uses the smaller IMV platform that isn't made for America. The influence is clearly there, though, with tough mechanics, a ladder-frame chassis, and the promise of good off-road capability. In a way, though, we now have two spiritual successors to the FJ Cruiser. Toyota View the 13 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

  7. Formula 1 fans around the world are heartbroken alongside the Bianchi family this week. Jules Bianchi's father, Philippe, revealed on Facebook that thieves have stolen the last go-kart his son ever raced. Jules had a monumentous impact on motorsport and was the godfather of Charles LeClerc years before he became an F1 driver. While motorsport has changed dramatically over the past two decades, the foundations of most great drivers still begin in karting. Such was the case with Jules, too. This racing memorabilia loss is deeply personal for the Bianchi family. Jules Bianchi's Story Instagram @f1._history Long before Monaco points finishes and Ferrari Driver Academy headlines, there was karting. Jules Bianchi started racing at just five years old on a circuit owned by his father and remained in the sport until he was 17. Those early years shaped everything that followed, from his success in French Formula Renault to victories in Formula 3 and, eventually, his arrival in Formula 1 in 2013. A year later, his career and life were tragically cut short after a crash in wet conditions at the Japanese Grand Prix, when his car struck a mobile crane recovering another driver's car off the track. He suffered severe head injuries and passed away nine months later at the age of 25, leaving behind a short but impactful legacy. Notable current Formula 1 drivers attended the funeral, including Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, and of course, Charles LeClerc. The Go-Karts That Got Stolen Facebook @ Philippe Biachi Philippe Bianchi shared the news in a message to the karting community, explaining that several karts were taken in the break-in, including some belonging to his grandchildren. But it was the loss of Jules’ final kart that stung the most. “They stole the last kart of Jules, a KZ 125 model ART GP,” he wrote, adding that while the machines have monetary worth, “it is the sentimental value that hurts us.” Nowadays, karting is more important than ever in discovering young talent, hence why Porsche Motorsport North America and K1 Speed offer go-kart racers a chance to race real Porsches. A Call to the Motorsport CommunityNow, the family is turning to the same motorsport community that once celebrated Jules’ talent for help. Philippe has asked anyone who may come across JB17 karts to get in touch, hoping that visibility can return Jules' kart to its home. Even if the kart never resurfaces, Jules Bianchi’s legacy remains secure, not only in record books but in the countless young drivers who continue to chase the same dream he once did. 9. (Slowest) King of the 'RingThe Nürburgring, as a race track, has transformed its reputation from being known simply as the Green Hell to being even more relevant in the modern context. Well, that's all thanks to hypercars and supercars – and lately, even Ford and Chevy have joined the fray. This 12.9 Mile race track has become the barometer by which all performance models are judged. Most brands like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini, and the like have obsessed over claiming the crown for the fastest lap ever, but what about the other end of the spectrum? A New Not-So-Glamorous Lap RecordEnter Ligier, a brand name familiar to those of age and to those who love F1. It's a French brand that makes a very interesting car. The JS50 is what is called in its homeland a voiture sans permis, which means a car without a license. This micro-sized car is limited to very slow speeds, allowing drivers as young as 14 to drive on public roads. While the JS50 makes sense on urban roads, it definitely is out of place around the most dangerous track in the world. And yet, Ligier, along with two French journalists, Nicolas Meunier and Martin Coulomb, went to the famed track to lap a couple of JS50s. The EVs weren't actually driven to Germany due to its limited 119-mile range, but on track were the various variants of the JS50, a couple of EVs, and a diesel-powered one. Ligier actually kitted out the JS50s with racing-type decals. Other than that, the cars remained stock, and with a top speed of only 28 mph, the diesel-powered JS50 clocked in at 28 minutes and 25.8 seconds, which is now officially the slowest ever recorded lap around the track. It beat out the previous record holder, a Trabant P50 that crossed the line back in 1960 with a time of 16 minutes and 1 second. All in Good FunObviously, Ligier's recent efforts in Germany were done all in good fun. The EV variants of the J50 were also lapped, and the slower EV was a mere half a minute ahead of the diesel, at 27 minutes and 55.6 seconds, while the fastest of the three went around in 19 minutes and 53.4 seconds. On a completely unrelated note, the current fastest lap was set by the Mercedes-Benz AMG ONE, at 6 minutes and 29.1 seconds. 12. Geely Signals U.S. Ambitions at CESChinese automaker Geely used CES 2026 to send its clearest signal yet: it’s preparing to enter the U.S. market. In an interview with Autoline Network, Ash Sutcliffe, Geely Holding Group’s head of global communications, said the company is “actively evaluating” a U.S. launch, with a formal decision expected within 24 to 36 months. For years, the idea of Chinese automakers entering the U.S. was an industry rumor. Geely’s remarks at CES shifted it from speculation to strategy. Sutcliffe said Geely’s presence at the Las Vegas tech show was designed to give U.S. media a first-hand look at the fit, finish, and technology behind modern Chinese vehicles. The group already has deep U.S. ties through Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, and Smart, which it either owns or co-owns. Brands like Zeekr and Lynk & Co are seen as likely candidates for a future U.S. debut. Chinese Automakers Rattle DetroitGeely’s plans highlight growing pressure on U.S. automakers from China’s fast-rising EV industry. Chinese brands are reshaping the global market with low costs, strong supply chains, and rapid innovation. China is now the world’s largest car exporter, thanks to its dominance in EV production and battery supply. Detroit automakers see the risk clearly. Ford CEO Jim Farley warned that Chinese manufacturers could "put us all out of business" if given full access to global markets. Washington has tried to slow the advance through tariffs and data rules, but the long-term threat remains. For Geely, local manufacturing could be a way around trade barriers. The company is exploring production options through Volvo’s plant in South Carolina to meet U.S. regulations and qualify for EV incentives. Geely Playing the Long GameMoreover, Sutcliffe acknowledged political and data security challenges but said they are part of doing business globally. With experience under Europe’s GDPR and California’s CCPA, Geely can adapt its software and data practices to U.S. standards. The company appears to be laying groundwork quietly rather than rushing in. Winning American consumers will take time. Chinese products still face skepticism, but quality and value often overcome perception, just as Japanese and Korean brands did decades ago. Geely’s expanding global lineup of affordable luxury EVs could appeal to U.S. buyers if priced competitively. Its eventual entry could also pressure U.S. automakers to step up on cost, technology, and execution. One thing is for sure, though: Geely and the rest of the Chinese car companies are coming, just not yet. Geely View the full article
  13. Momentum Carries Into 2026The Jeep Grand Cherokee closed out last month on a strong note after posting its best December retail sales performance since 2021. Now, the midsize crossover is opening a new chapter, as Stellantis has confirmed that the refreshed 2026 model year has already begun shipping to dealerships. While the 2026 Grand Cherokee retains a recognizable look, the most significant update lies under the hood. Jeep now offers the model with an all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four from the Hurricane engine family. The new forced induction setup produces 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, surpassing the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which delivers 293 horsepower. Stellantis Following the Downsizing PlaybookThe numbers may sound promising, but the engine just debuted in a production vehicle, meaning long-term reliability remains an open question. Nevertheless, its arrival reflects a broader industry trend, as more automakers downsize engines to meet tighter emissions standards. The Grand Cherokee’s direct rival, the Nissan Murano, mirrors this approach by ditching its long-running 3.5-liter V6 in favor of a smaller 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. For buyers who may be hesitant to roll the dice, Jeep continues to offer its midsize crossover with more familiar powertrain options. These include the aforementioned Pentastar V6 as well as the plug-in hybrid configuration known as 4xe. The latter pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with two electric motors, delivering a combined 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. As a PHEV, it also offers an all-electric driving mode, though its range is limited to 25 miles. Stellantis Modernizing a Midsize StapleIt is worth noting, however, that the 4xe powertrain – also used in the Wrangler – has faced multiple recalls last year. These include a major campaign affecting more than 320,000 4xe-equipped vehicles due to a high-voltage battery issue. Aside from powertrain updates, other changes for the 2026 model year include a revised grille design, updated headlamps, and a new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. With the refreshed Grand Cherokee now arriving at dealerships, interested buyers may want to check in with their local Jeep retailers for more details, including final pricing. For reference, earlier reports indicate that pricing starts at $38,735 – excluding the $1,995 destination fee—for the base Laredo trim, which is about $2,000 more than the outgoing 25 MY. Models equipped with the new 2.0-liter Hurricane engine are said to start at $44,140. Stellantis View the 5 images of this gallery on the original article View the full article

  15. The Minivan America Can’t Have (Yet)The Mitsubishi Delica D:5 is forbidden fruit in America and most of the world. On the surface, it’s a straightforward minivan with sliding doors and actual space for people. Underneath, though, it’s built with hardware that puts many soft-road SUVs to shame: four-wheel drive, off-road modes, and even locking differentials. It’s an example showing that you don’t need a bulky crossover to get your family out of the city and onto rougher ground. That approach still works in Japan. The Delica continues to sell well at home, and Mitsubishi is doubling down on that success. For the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, the company is filling its booth with a lineup of customized Delica D:5s and Delica Minis, calling it the “Delica Festival.” Mitsubishi The Delica Mini Goes Full Character ModeThe Delica Mini, a tall kei car that we admired in the metal during the Japan Mobility Show, is getting several show versions for Tokyo Auto Salon 2026. One of them, the Delica Mini Delimaru Festa, stands out with mascot decals and a large Delimaru figure on the roof. It’s a playful approach, but it also shows how Mitsubishi wants the Mini to be more than just another city car – it’s meant as a first step into the Delica world. On the rugged side, the Delica Mini Ultimate Gear gets a textured coating, roof rack, grille guard, rear ladder, and a small suspension lift. Other versions add pop-up roofs, skid bars, mud flaps, and retro styling that references older Mitsubishi off-roaders. Even at this size, Mitsubishi is serious about giving the Mini real utility. Mitsubishi View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article The Delica LifestyleOf course, the full-phat Delica D:5 gets its share of attention, with Mitsubishi showing several custom versions. The Ultimate Gear features a lifted suspension, extra body protection, and a textured finish that hides scratches. There’s also an Active Camper model built with outdoor brand LOGOS, which adds a warmer interior but keeps the same 4WD hardware. Wild Adventure versions with rally-inspired touches reinforce the Delica’s off-road credentials and connect back to Mitsubishi’s motorsport background. Mitsubishi is even displaying the actual Triton rally truck that won the Asia Cross Country Rally in 2025, along with a Delica D:5 support vehicle used during the event. It’s a reminder that the Delica’s adventure branding isn’t purely cosmetic. Everything will be on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, from January 9 to 11 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Whether the modern Delica ever makes it to the US remains uncertain. For now, Mitsubishi is making the most of what it has. 16. Costco and General Motors are extending a member-only deal on Cadillac EVs into early 2026, giving shoppers a rare chance to stack warehouse-club cash on top of standard incentives. For buyers already looking at a Lyriq or one of Cadillac’s new electric SUVs, the timing is about as friendly as it gets. Cadillac View the 3 images of this gallery on the original article How The Costco Cadillac EV Deal WorksThrough the Costco Auto Program, eligible members can get a fixed cash incentive on select new Cadillac EVs. Executive members qualify for a $1,250 incentive; standard Gold Star and Business members get $1,000. That money is applied at the dealership on top of any normal GM offers, whether you’re paying cash, financing, or leasing. The offer covers Cadillac’s core EV line, including the Lyriq and newer models like Optiq and Vistiq, with slightly different timing windows. Some holiday promos wrapped up right after New Year’s, but a follow-on “limited-time special” keeps member incentives running on select Cadillac EVs through March 31, 2026, as long as you, were already a Costco member by the specified 2025 cutoff date, register for the offer with Costco Auto to get a certificate, and take delivery of an eligible Cadillac EV within the program window. Costco Which Cadillacs Benefit MostIn practice, the headline beneficiary is the Lyriq, Cadillac’s mid-size electric SUV. It sits in the heart of the market on price and size, and the ability to layer Costco money on top of a captive lease program is a straightforward way to pull shoppers out of rival premium brands. At the other end of the lineup, the ultra-low-volume Celestiq plays a different game entirely. This is happening as U.S. buyers are already shifting their money in Cadillac’s direction. The Costco offer does not change Cadillac’s pricing power at the top, but it does give value-conscious shoppers a nudge toward the EV side of the showroom. Cadillac Why The Timing MattersThe broader EV market is in a tricky spot, as interest rates remain elevated, incentives are shifting, and some buyers are hesitating. For GM, partnering with Costco is a way to keep Cadillac’s EV momentum going without cutting sticker prices outright. For Costco members, it’s effectively found money that can offset fees, options, or the first year of insurance on a new Lyriq or its upcoming electric stablemates. And for anyone already inside the Costco system and considering a Cadillac EV between now and March 2026, ignoring that extra $1,000–$1,250 would simply be leaving leverage on the table. Vossen has unveiled a set of forged LC3 wheels for the new V16 hypercar, using high end CGI to show how its designs would look bolted to Molsheim’s next flagship. The result is equal parts fantasy configurator and early shot in the personalization race around a car that will start around four million dollars. View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article Two LC3 Designs For A Four Million Dollar CanvasVossen’s renders pair a white and blue Tourbillon with a staggered wheel setup. Up front sits the LC3 11T, a forged monoblock with a deeply concave face, multi spoke layout and a ring of small vents that hint at brake cooling. Out back is the LC3 01T, a more conventional Y spoke pattern that gives the rear axle a motorsport feel without drowning the body in design noise. Both are shown in Brushed Gloss Clear, which lets the machining do most of the talking and plays nicely with the Tourbillon’s clean surfacing. Sizes for the LC3 range from 19 to 24 inches, with widths from 8.5 to 13 inches, and pricing is around 2,600 dollars per wheel. That is not out of line in the supercar world, but it still means five figures of hardware before you even think about tires. Bugatti will have its own factory wheel families, tied into option packs and the brand’s new Atelier in Molsheim. The whole point of that space is to make each build feel bespoke straight from the brand. Vossen’s pitch is that some owners will still want to go off menu. View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article Does Aftermarket Metal Belong On A TourbillonThe debate kicked off immediately, as some fans like how the LC3 shapes echo the car’s aero theme. Others argue that swapping wheels on a limited run, 1,800 horsepower hybrid V16 that has been engineered to the millimeter is asking for trouble, both technically and in terms of value. The Tourbillon is packed with radical tech, yet its cabin rejects the usual screen wall in favor of an analog inspired layout. The central instruments are built like a high end mechanical watch. It is a car that already feels customized before any tuner gets near it. There is also the small matter of what Bugatti is doing in house. The firm is preparing a new Bugatti one off hypercar later this month, and history says it will come with its own unique wheels, aero and trim. When the factory is already spinning out special builds that sit above the “standard” Tourbillon, third party styling parts start to look more like seasoning than a main course. View the full article

  20. The Bright Headlights Crisis Is Far From OverIf you find yourself squinting while driving at night, you’re not alone. The IIHS reports that average headlight brightness has roughly doubled in the last decade. The NHTSA receives more consumer complaints regarding headlight brightness than any other category. There's a real, widespread anger out there; there's even a subreddit with over 44,000 members complaining about this growing and very real crisis. The numbers support the public's frustration. Older halogen bulbs produced approximately 1,000 lumens. Newer factory-fitted LEDs produce up to 4,000 lumens or more. Some aftermarket LEDs have been found to produce 10,000 lumens or more. But the problem is that the federal brightness standards for automotive headlights have not changed for decades. Getty Regulatory Loopholes Made The Issue WorseThe Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108 hasn't had significant updates since 1986, with the NHTSA last investigating the issue of headlamp glare in 2003. The current standards include huge loopholes for auto manufacturers to emit as much light as desired, as long as the manufacturer meets the requirements of the other parts of the regulation. LEDs can be made to focus light using lasers, and auto manufacturers use this ability to their advantage. The regulatory standard prohibits excessive light in certain areas by referencing old technologies, but manufacturers design the areas in question to be shaded so that the total light output can still be increased greatly overall. Manufacturers want as much light as possible in order to get a high score for the IIHS headlight safety ratings. Photo by Josh Lefkowitz/Getty Images) Blinding Headlights Are a Global ProblemBlinding headlights are something that people from all over the world are complaining about, but very few countries have taken proactive measures. The UK has decided to require all new vehicles sold after December 2025 to have adaptive headlights. Since 2010, European countries have utilized Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) technology, which automatically dims the light in areas that are directly ahead of oncoming vehicles. Although the U.S. finally approved the ADB technology in February 2022, manufacturers are wary of implementing it because of conflicting regulations, with a few exceptions, such as Rivian. Rivi Less Brightness, More LogicTo fix this problem, the first step is to update Standard 108 with a cap on the maximum allowable brightness for LED technology. Next, states should begin requiring headlight alignment inspection during vehicle inspections. Finally, NHTSA should enforce a ban against the sale of aftermarket LEDs that exceed the allowed brightness, at least for on-road use. The Soft Lights Foundation has collected over 77,000 signatures calling for federal action to limit headlight brightness. People are frustrated with being temporarily blinded while driving, and it’s high time some regulation was put into place. Vehicles have become cleaner and safer through smart regulation; the same just needs to be done with headlights. View the full article

  22. The Name Wasn’t ReadyThe stage was set, and the lights were bright when Tesla debuted the Cybercab at the “We, Robot” event last October 2024. However, the EV maker appears to have failed to do its homework, as it now faces what looks like a squatter situation with the "Cybercab" trademark. According to a report from Electrek, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a suspension notice on Tesla’s Cybercab trademark filing. The notice states that there was already a pending priority application for the same name, which belongs to a company called Unibev. Notably, Unibev is described as a French beverage business, suggesting that the Cybercab nameplate may ultimately have nothing to do with a vehicle rolling on four autonomous wheels. You can look up the trademark yourself by typing in "Cybercab" on USPTO's online search tool. Tesla Getting Déjà VuWhat makes the situation more intriguing is that Unibev also holds TESLAQUILA trademarks, a name Tesla once explored for its branded alcohol. Viewed in that context, the Cybercab dispute appears less coincidental. The pattern suggests that Unibev may be actively monitoring Tesla’s branding activity, particularly delays in trademark filings. As for motive, one possible explanation is financial leverage. By securing priority rights to the Cybercab name, Unibev could be positioning itself to extract a significant payout if Tesla seeks to acquire the trademark – an approach that aligns closely with classic trademark squatting behavior. Tesla The Clock Is TickingTesla plans to begin producing the Cybercab – or whatever name it ultimately adopts – as early as April this year, making a swift response to the trademark issue time-sensitive. Moreover, the company has yet to secure regulatory approval for its fully autonomous system. Recent sightings of two Cybercab prototypes in Austin, Texas, showed the vehicles operating with a human driver and a steering wheel. For additional context, Tesla has said the Cybercab is ultimately intended to be produced without a steering wheel or pedals, supporting the company’s vision of a fully autonomous, two-seat robotaxi. Whether Tesla chooses to negotiate with Unibev for the Cybercab trademark or abandon the name entirely remains to be seen. However, retaining a nameplate that includes the word “Cyber” would align neatly with the company’s existing product strategy. The Cybertruck already anchors that branding approach as Tesla’s answer to electric pickups like the Chevrolet Silverado EV and the Rivian R1T. The brand has also extended the naming theme to non-automotive products, including the Cyberquad for Kids electric four-wheel ride-on toy. 23. At just 27 years old, Sydney Marshall is already the face of a new generation in drag racing. He grew up at the racetrack, learned every inch of it from the ground up, and now runs one of the most active racetracks in Florida – Orlando Speed World Dragway. Editor’s Note: This story originally appeared in DI #197, the 30 Under 30 Issue, in November/December 2025. Growing up in central Florida, Marshall spent his earliest weekends at the track, tagging along as his father raced in local bracket programs before running the Outlaw Pro Street Motorcycle class across the country, from Gainesville to Indy to Rockingham. “I started coming to OSW when I was probably like two or three months old,” Marshall recalls. “My dad was racing before I was born and continues to race now. He was always into motorcycles, so that’s how I got into it.” For Marshall, the sights and sounds of the racetrack left an early impression. Staple events like Night of Fire and the World Street Nationals were, and still are, two of his favorites on the yearly schedule. Along with his father, Marshall’s mother, and his cousin, Isaiah Rojas, driver of the ProCharged Mech-Tech Pro Mod Corvette, also influenced his involvement in the sport. While still in high school, Marshall first joined the staff at Orlando Speed World in a part-time position that gradually became a full-time career. By 2020, when a management change occurred, owner Ozzy Moya already had a replacement in mind. “Ozzy called me and gave me the opportunity to come on board full-time,” he says. “I took it and went into the management side of Orlando Speed World. Now it’s my show to run.” The promotion, however, did not come without challenges. Marshall works an average of 50 hours a week while taking classes toward his mechanical engineering degree at Seminole State College, with plans to transfer to UCF. He admits that earning respect from racers was a hurdle in the beginning but has improved over time. “They see a new young kid come in and they’re not as open to that,” he says. “But I think overall we’ve gotten where we need to be. Everybody knows the deal and I’m not just some young kid here just to fill in a spot.” With six full-time employees and a rotating staff of about 55, Marshall oversees multiple departments, including office management, marketing, maintenance, and groundskeeping. During the week, he hosts private track rentals, while weekends are packed with a variety of events. “Lack of sleep is the way to do it,” he says with a laugh. Marshall is also experienced in track prep, a skill he learned firsthand from a previous manager. “I’m always a person to try different things. Franco told me to hop on the tractor, so I did. And from there, I learned more about prepping the racetrack and got better over time,” Marshall says. That willingness to dive in has earned him respect beyond OSW. He has been contracted to assist other facilities, including Gainesville Raceway for Sick Week, as well as South Georgia Motorsports Park. In 2022, he had the opportunity to help Kurt Johnson with Total Venue Concepts at the Night Under Fire event at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. “That was my first time doing anything fuel-related. Prepping for fuel cars is way different than anything I’ve ever seen before,” he says of working with Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars. In addition to managing one of Florida’s busiest dragstrips, Marshall is building his own Limited Drag Radial car, a 2018 Infiniti Q60 with a billet 2JZ engine, 106mm turbo, and 5-speed Liberty transmission. His dad is helping with the build, and Marshall values that time spent together in the shop. “I wanted to build something that people don’t normally see,” he says. “Hopefully by June, the car will be on the track, if not earlier. There’s not much left to do, but it’s all the little tedious stuff.” While Marshall continues working toward his college degree, he sees his long-term future at Orlando Speed World, where a succession plan is already in place for the facility. “I always wanted to get my engineering degree since I was a child, but that’s not the field I plan to go into. I want to carry this out as long as I can,” he explains. “Within the next few years, Ozzy has plans for me and his two kids to take over the business. His son, Junior, and his daughter, Isabella, and I will fully run the company and basically lease the facility from him.” For now, Marshall is focused on building events like Night of Fire and Sport Compact Challenge, which is the biggest import race in the world held every October. He also wants to make the facility a place that welcomes a wide range of events, racers, and spectators. “Right now, Orlando is mostly known for the import series. My goal is to make us known for everything – this is a multicultural place,” he says. With a clear vision and a lifelong passion for drag racing, there’s no doubt Orlando Speed World is in good hands with Marshall at the helm of track operations. He’s excited and focused on improving the 60-year-old facility, but also emphasizes what truly drives its success. “You could have the best track in the world, but if you don’t get the people to come and race here, it doesn’t matter,” he says. “It means nothing without the racers and the people who show up to our facility.” This story was originally published on January 7, 2026. 25. Ford’s 2025 sales numbers have just come in, and it was a generally strong year for the Blue Oval. Not only did the company’s total sales rise by 6%, but its market share went up by 0.6% and Ford achieved its highest sales this decade. Overall, Ford sold 2,204,124 vehicles last year, with its market share reaching 13.2%. By comparison, rival Chevrolet sold 1,829,235 vehicles. Ford outperformed the industry for the 10th consecutive month in December, and attributed some of this success to the diversity of trim and powertrain offerings. Let’s take a closer look at the specific models and powertrains that made 2025 such a strong year for Ford. Trucks Continue To Lead The Way Ford Ford sold 1,268,749 trucks last year, an increase of 9.5%. Once again, the F-Series was America’s best-selling pickup, with 828,832 units sold. But it wasn’t only Ford’s large trucks that performed well, as cheaper models grew at a much higher rate in percentage terms. The Ranger hit 70,960 sales, a significant 53.6% increase but still behind the 107,867 Colorados sold by Chevrolet. Still, no other Ford posted better sales growth than the Ranger last year. This figure was bolstered by the base Ranger XL, which saw sales jump by 82.3% as consumers look to purchase more affordable trims. The Ford Maverick, the brand’s cheapest pickup and the cheapest pickup in America, had a record sales year with 155,051 units sold, up by 18.2%. Here are a few other key insights from Ford’s truck sales in 2025: 84,934 F-150 Hybrids sold, a record that makes it America’s top-selling hybrid truckF-Series secures 49th consecutive year as America’s top-selling truckBase Maverick XL sales climbed by 29.5% for the yearSuper Duty pickups achieved best sales since 2004The F-150 Hybrid’s performance is notable, as it contributed to last year being Ford’s best-ever year for hybrid sales, with a 21.7% increase. The Maverick Hybrid also contributed to that increase, with 81,034 units of the electrified pickup sold. SUV Sales Remain Steady Kristen Brown/Autoblog Overall, Ford sold 890,042 SUVs last year, a more modest increase of 1.6%. However, this can be considered a positive result, given that Ford discontinued the popular Escape recently, a model that still sold almost 140,000 units in 2025. The Explorer was America’s best-selling three-row SUV, selling 222,706 units, up by 14.7%. This model was supported by the Expedition, which hit 85,921 sales (+10.%, its best year since 2019). The Bronco saw the greatest improvement of any Ford SUV, with sales rising by 33.7% to 146,007 units. The Bronco Sport hit sales of 134,493, up by 7.9%. Off-road performance trims like the Raptor performed well, as did cheaper Bronco trims like the base and Big Bend derivatives. “We’re growing share and beating the trend because we offer a great range of products, from accessible entry-level models to high-performance off-roaders,” said Andrew Frick, president, Ford Blue and Model e. Mixed Fortunes For Mustang and EVs 2025 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium Cole Attisha View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article While gas and hybrid trucks/SUVs led the way for Ford in 2025, the Mustang also had a decent year, with sales rising by 3% to 45,333 units. The same can’t be said for EVs, though. Electric Fords were down by 14.1% to 84,113 units. The Mustang Mach-E held firm at 51,620 units, just 0.2% down, but many of those sales came before the federal tax credit for EVs was dropped; in Q4 alone, Mach-E sales tumbled by 40.1%. The F-150 Lighting sold just 27,305 units, down by 18.5%. Ford confirmed late last year that the electric pickup would go out of production, as it’s simply not profitable. Ford isn’t giving up on electric pickups, though. A new midsize electric truck based on the Universal EV Platform is coming in 2027, when production begins at the Louisville Assembly Plant. It’s expected to be a lot more affordable than the F-150 Lightning. Related: Ford's $30,000 Electric Pickup Truck Is On Its Way. What Could It Look Like? Final ThoughtsLike General Motors, Ford sales grew by 6% over the course of 2025, but the two brands are excelling in different areas. GM was the number 2 EV brand in 2025, whereas Ford’s EV sales decreased and its F-150 Lightning was discontinued. Ford’s pickups and SUVs performed strongly, though, including those motivated by hybrid powertrains. The sheer amount of choice throughout Ford’s lineup, from trims to powertrains, means there’s something to suit almost every type of buyer. And, as car prices rise, it's clear that Ford's cheaper, frill-free base trims and striking a chord with consumers. View the full article
