Cardo Expands Off-Road Communication Options with PACKTALK EDGE ORV and PACKTALK EDGEPHONES ORV
Communication is one of the most important aspects of any off-road adventure. Whether you’re guiding a driver through a challenging rock obstacle, coordinating a group ride across the desert, or simply talking with passengers while navigating a remote trail, clear and reliable communication can enhance both safety and enjoyment. Cardo Systems, a leader in motorcycle communication technology, has expanded its off-road lineup with two purpose-built communication solutions: the PACKTALK EDGE ORV helmet communication system and the PACKTALK EDGEPHONES ORV wireless headset. Both systems utilize Cardo’s industry-leading communication technology, premium JBL audio, and Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC), but they are designed to accommodate different riding preferences. Whether you prefer wearing a helmet or riding without one, Cardo offers a communication solution tailored to your off-road lifestyle. Two Solutions for Off-Road Enthusiasts PACKTALK EDGE ORV Helmet Communication System PACKTALK EDGE ORV Helmet Communication System For riders who wear helmets while operating UTVs, ATVs, dirt bikes, rock crawlers, or race vehicles, the PACKTALK EDGE ORV provides a fully integrated communication system that installs directly into compatible helmets. The system features JBL speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, Dynamic Mesh Communication, and Natural Voice Operation, allowing users to communicate with fellow riders, stream music, receive GPS directions, and make phone calls without taking their hands off the wheel. This option is ideal for racers, performance-oriented drivers, and recreational riders who prefer the added protection and comfort of a helmet while exploring challenging terrain. PACKTALK EDGEPHONES ORV Headset PACKTALK EDGEPHONES ORV Headset For UTV owners who prefer not to wear a helmet, Cardo developed the PACKTALK EDGEPHONES ORV. This self-contained wireless headset combines hearing protection with the same advanced communication technology found in the helmet-mounted system. The over-the-ear design helps reduce engine noise, tire noise, and wind noise while delivering crystal-clear communication through premium JBL speakers. Because the entire system is built into the headset, there is no installation required, making it easy to move between vehicles or share among drivers and passengers. The EDGEPHONES ORV is particularly appealing for recreational UTV riders, overlanders, ranchers, farmers, race crews, and anyone seeking reliable communication without the need for a helmet. Powered by Dynamic Mesh Communication At the heart of both PACKTALK ORV systems is Cardo’s second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication technology. Unlike traditional Bluetooth intercoms that rely on fixed rider-to-rider connections, DMC creates a self-healing network that automatically reconnects users as they move in and out of range. The technology supports communication between up to 15 users simultaneously, making it ideal for group rides, organized trail events, race teams, and off-road expeditions. Whether users choose the helmet-mounted PACKTALK EDGE ORV or the EDGEPHONES ORV headset, they can communicate seamlessly across the same mesh network. Premium JBL Audio Clear communication is only part of the experience. Both systems feature premium JBL-engineered audio components designed to deliver exceptional sound quality in noisy off-road environments. Users can enjoy: Crystal-clear rider-to-rider communication Music streaming from smartphones GPS navigation prompts Phone calls Group communication The combination of JBL audio and Cardo’s advanced noise-filtering technology helps ensure conversations remain clear, even in demanding off-road conditions. Natural Voice Operation One of Cardo’s most popular features is Natural Voice Operation. Drivers can control many system functions using simple voice commands without reaching for buttons or taking their focus off the trail. Whether answering a call, controlling music playback, or managing communication settings, voice activation provides a safer and more convenient user experience. Built for the Demands of Off-Road Use Dust, vibration, mud, weather, and long days on the trail can quickly expose weaknesses in communication equipment. Both PACKTALK ORV systems are engineered to withstand harsh outdoor environments while delivering reliable performance ride after ride. Their rugged construction makes them suitable not only for recreational off-roading but also for racing, overlanding, agricultural applications, construction environments, and other demanding outdoor activities. Long Battery Life for Full Days on the Trail Extended adventures require dependable battery performance. The PACKTALK EDGEPHONES ORV provides up to 10 hours of talk time on a single charge, helping ensure communication remains available throughout long trail rides and workdays. Fast-charging capabilities also make it easy to quickly recharge before heading back out for the next adventure. A New Standard in Off-Road Communication Traditional UTV communication systems often require vehicle-specific wiring, intercom installations, and complex setups. Cardo’s PACKTALK ORV lineup offers a simpler and more flexible alternative. By providing both a helmet-integrated communication system and a standalone wireless headset option, Cardo allows riders to choose the communication platform that best fits their riding style while maintaining compatibility across the entire PACKTALK ecosystem. Final Thoughts With the introduction of the PACKTALK EDGE ORV and PACKTALK EDGEPHONES ORV, Cardo continues to expand its proven communication technology into the off-road market. Both systems offer premium JBL audio, Dynamic Mesh Communication, Natural Voice Operation, and rugged durability designed specifically for life beyond the pavement. Whether you’re tackling technical rock trails, exploring remote backcountry routes, competing in off-road races, or simply enjoying a weekend ride with friends and family, Cardo’s PACKTALK ORV lineup provides a powerful and convenient way to stay connected throughout the journey. MRT Sonora DS UTV Tire: Built to Survive the Toughest Desert Terrain
When it comes to desert racing and high-speed off-road adventures, tire durability can make the difference between reaching the finish line and sitting on the side of the trail with a puncture. MRT (Moto Race Tire) developed the Sonora DS UTV Tire specifically to address the challenges faced by racers and aggressive recreational riders who demand maximum durability without sacrificing performance. Designed by desert racers and tested in some of the harshest conditions in the Southwest, the Sonora DS combines innovative construction, Kevlar reinforcement, and race-proven technology to create one of the toughest UTV tires currently available. MRT Sonora DS UTV Tire Engineered for the Desert The Sonora DS was developed with a clear goal: build a tire capable of handling the punishment of desert racing while maintaining the traction, stability, and reliability needed for long-distance off-road competition. MRT collaborated with experienced racers to develop a tire capable of withstanding sharp rocks, cactus, high-speed impacts, and extreme heat commonly encountered in desert environments. At the heart of the Sonora DS is MRT’s advanced Kevlar-reinforced construction. The tire utilizes a unique 6X Kevlar wrapped bead-to-bead design that provides exceptional puncture resistance and durability throughout the entire carcass. This construction is intended to reduce the risk of punctures and sidewall failures while maintaining the flexibility needed for traction in rough terrain. Key Features The Sonora DS is loaded with technology designed to keep riders moving through demanding terrain: 6X Kevlar wrapped bead-to-bead construction D-Fense Sidewall Protection Reinforced Apex Bead design DOT-compliant construction 8-ply rating 17.5/32-inch tread depth Load rating of 1,480 pounds per tire MRT 1-Year Sidewall Warranty One standout feature is MRT’s D-Fense Sidewall Protection system, which adds additional defense against cuts and impacts that commonly damage sidewalls during aggressive off-road use. The reinforced Apex Bead is designed to reduce the likelihood of pinch flats when navigating rocks, ledges, and rough race courses. Lightweight Strength In the off-road world, durability often comes at the expense of weight. MRT sought to strike a balance between strength and performance by utilizing advanced materials and race-inspired engineering. The currently available 33×9.5R15 version weighs approximately 45 pounds while maintaining exceptional puncture resistance and structural integrity. The tire features a relatively narrow 9.5-inch section width that helps reduce steering effort while maintaining precise handling characteristics. This profile is especially beneficial for desert racers and performance-oriented UTV owners looking to maximize speed and stability. Race-Proven Performance MRT’s racing program has helped validate the durability and performance of its tire lineup in real-world competition. The company has enjoyed success in numerous off-road racing events, and the Sonora DS was developed to build upon that racing heritage. MRT describes the Sonora DS as its strongest UTV tire to date, incorporating lessons learned from years of desert competition and product development. For riders who regularly encounter sharp rocks, desert terrain, and long-distance off-road adventures, the Sonora DS offers a combination of puncture resistance, sidewall protection, and race-inspired performance that is difficult to match. Available Sizes The Sonora DS is currently available in: 33×9.5R15 35×9.5R15 (coming soon) Final Thoughts The MRT Sonora DS was designed for riders who push their machines beyond ordinary trail use. With its 6X Kevlar bead-to-bead construction, D-Fense sidewall protection, reinforced bead technology, and race-proven design, the Sonora DS delivers the durability needed to tackle some of the harshest terrain in North America. Whether you’re competing in desert races, exploring remote backcountry routes, or simply looking for added confidence against punctures and sidewall damage, the Sonora DS represents MRT’s most advanced desert-focused tire technology to date. About MRT MRT (Moto Race Tire) specializes in high-performance off-road tires and wheels developed through extensive racing experience and real-world testing. The company’s lineup includes race-proven UTV tires featuring Kevlar-reinforced technology designed to deliver exceptional durability, traction, and performance in demanding conditions. U.S. Marine Corps Awards Polaris Up to $98 Million Contract for MRZR Alpha Tactical UTV Production
Polaris Government and Defense will continue supplying the Marine Corps with its advanced MRZR Alpha Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicle platform through a new five-year contract. The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded Polaris Government and Defense a new sole-source contract valued at up to $98 million to continue production and delivery of the MRZR Alpha Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicle (ULTV), further strengthening Polaris’ long-standing role as a supplier of military off-road vehicles. The contract, awarded through the Program Acquisition Executive Marine Corps (PAE-MC), has an ordering period of up to five years and ensures continued support of one of the military’s most versatile mobility platforms. While most off-road enthusiasts know Polaris for its RANGER, RZR, and XPEDITION vehicles, the company’s Government and Defense division has spent decades developing specialized off-road platforms for military customers around the world. The MRZR Alpha represents the latest evolution of that expertise, providing highly mobile transportation for infantry, reconnaissance, logistics, medical evacuation, and command-and-control operations. Built for Rapid Deployment The MRZR Alpha is designed to provide expeditionary forces with lightweight mobility in demanding environments. Engineered for enhanced payload capacity, exceptional off-road performance, and tactical transportability, the vehicle can be carried internally by both the MV-22 Osprey and CH-53 helicopter, allowing Marines to deploy rapidly into remote or contested areas. This “fly-and-drive” capability has become increasingly important as the Marine Corps continues implementing its Force Design modernization strategy, which emphasizes distributed operations and rapidly deployable units capable of operating across large geographic areas. According to Polaris, more than 500 MRZR Alpha vehicles are already in service with the Marine Corps, where they have been used in roles ranging from logistics support and infantry mobility to medical evacuation, communications support, counter-drone operations, and aircraft refueling. New High-Power Variant Included One of the most significant additions to the new contract is the inclusion of the MRZR Alpha 5kW exportable power variant. The upgraded vehicle can provide up to 5 kilowatts of exportable electrical power while stationary or on the move, supporting increasingly power-hungry military systems such as communications equipment, tactical computing systems, air defense technologies, and forward operating power grids. The capability allows units to reduce reliance on separate generators while preserving cargo space for mission-critical equipment. Importantly, Polaris says the power-generation capability does not compromise the vehicle’s primary mission, allowing it to continue transporting personnel, equipment, and medical litters while adding valuable electrical support capabilities. Off-Road Expertise Meets Military Demands The MRZR Alpha highlights how commercial off-road vehicle expertise can translate into military applications. Polaris has supplied military mobility solutions for more than two decades, leveraging its experience in designing durable off-road vehicles capable of operating in extreme terrain and harsh environments. According to Polaris Government and Defense, the MRZR Alpha platform can be quickly configured for multiple mission requirements, allowing a single vehicle platform to support a wide range of operational roles while simplifying fleet logistics and maintenance. The latest contract also includes continued engineering, technical, and logistics support from Polaris, ensuring the Marine Corps can continue adapting the platform to evolving operational requirements. A Significant Win for Polaris The award represents another major milestone for Polaris Government and Defense, which has become one of the leading suppliers of lightweight tactical vehicles to U.S. and allied military forces worldwide. For off-road enthusiasts, the contract serves as another reminder of how the engineering and durability developed in the powersports industry continue to find applications far beyond recreational trail riding. The same emphasis on lightweight construction, maneuverability, reliability, and off-road capability that has made Polaris successful in the UTV market is helping support military mobility missions around the globe. About Polaris Government and Defense Polaris Government and Defense is a division of Polaris Inc. focused on providing lightweight tactical vehicles and mobility solutions for military and government customers worldwide. Its vehicle lineup includes the MRZR Alpha, MRZR D, DAGOR, and other specialized off-road platforms designed to support expeditionary, reconnaissance, logistics, and special operations missions. Polaris and Foundation for America’s Public Lands Launch Grant Program to Improve OHV Access and Safety on BLM Lands
More than $700,000 in funding will support trail improvements, signage, safety projects, and rider access across Utah, Arizona, Montana, and Nevada A new partnership between Polaris and the Foundation for America’s Public Lands is bringing significant investment to off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation areas across the western United States. The organizations have announced a new grant program that will provide more than $700,000 in support for projects designed to improve trail access, rider safety, navigation, and visitor experiences on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands. The initiative combines a $350,000 contribution from Polaris with a dollar-for-dollar match from the Foundation for America’s Public Lands, creating one of the largest recent investments focused specifically on OHV recreation infrastructure on BLM-managed lands. The grants will fund projects ranging from trail signage and wayfinding improvements to facility upgrades, fencing, trail maintenance, and accessibility enhancements. Seven projects across Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and Montana have been selected in the program’s first round of funding. Supporting the Future of OHV Recreation The Bureau of Land Management oversees more than 200 designated OHV recreation areas and millions of acres of public land open to responsible motorized recreation. These riding areas provide opportunities for adventure, tourism, family recreation, and economic activity for many rural communities. Polaris CEO Mike Speetzen said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the riding community while helping preserve access to public lands. “People are deeply connected to the areas they spend their days riding, and we know strong communities are at the heart of maintaining these spaces,” said Speetzen. “Through our new partnership with the Foundation for America’s Public Lands, we will invest alongside local partners to improve trails, promote responsible riding, and support the people who know these areas better than anyone, helping to keep these places thriving.” I Ling Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for America’s Public Lands, noted that public lands play an important role in recreation and local economies across the country. “America’s public lands are powerful economic drivers and places where Americans can get outside to experience the Great Outdoors,” Thompson said. “BLM lands offer countless opportunities for multiple use recreation, and we are thrilled to partner with Polaris to support local communities and bring much needed funding to these important projects.” Moon Rocks Receives First Grant The partnership officially launched at the North Reno Recreation Area’s popular Moon Rocks OHV Area in Nevada. The 19,000-acre riding destination recently hosted the Friends of Moon Rocks annual cleanup event, where hundreds of volunteers gathered to help improve the area. Funding at Moon Rocks will support the installation of new portal signs and barriers designed to improve visitor orientation and guide traffic to designated trailheads. “It is astounding to see all of these partners, including the Foundation, Polaris, and all of the volunteers coming together to enhance the Moon Rocks Recreation Area,” said Kim Dow, Associate State Director of BLM Nevada. “Without their support and dedication, Moon Rocks would not be what it is today.” Utah Projects Receive Significant Support Utah riders will benefit from four of the seven projects selected for funding. Cricket Mountains OHV Trail System Located in western Utah, the Cricket Mountains OHV Trail System will receive a complete signage overhaul. New directional markers, trail maps, and wayfinding signs will help riders navigate the extensive trail network while improving safety and reducing route confusion. Greater Three Peaks OHV Riding Area Near Cedar City, the Greater Three Peaks OHV Riding Area will receive approximately 4,800 feet of fencing around an area known as “The Crater.” The project aims to improve safety by reducing travel through heavily braided informal routes and challenging terrain while improving overall trail management. Tusher Tunnel, Uranium Arch and Bartlett Alcove Three popular BLM recreation destinations near Moab will receive upgraded signage, parking improvements, and site maintenance. The enhancements are designed to improve visitor experiences while helping protect these heavily used recreation areas. Fivemile Pass Recreation Area One of Utah’s most popular OHV destinations, Fivemile Pass will benefit from restroom repairs and the installation of new kiosks at seven staging areas. The upgrades will improve amenities for riders and visitors while providing updated recreation information. Arizona and Montana Projects Expand Access The grant program also includes projects in Arizona and Montana. Black Canyon Corridor, Arizona The Black Canyon Corridor will receive approximately 1,400 new waypoints and interpretive markers designed to improve navigation and enhance the riding experience. Installation efforts will involve youth crews in alignment with the federal EXPLORE Act. Glendive Short Pines OHV Area, Montana Funding will support construction of a shade structure and an ADA-accessible concrete trail. The project will improve accessibility while helping establish the area as a premier OHV destination in eastern Montana. A Positive Step for Public Land Access At a time when access to public lands remains a major concern within the off-road community, the partnership between Polaris and the Foundation for America’s Public Lands represents a significant investment in maintaining and improving riding opportunities. By supporting trail infrastructure, rider education, safety improvements, and stewardship projects, the program aims to help ensure that popular OHV destinations remain accessible and enjoyable for future generations. For riders who value access to public lands, projects like these demonstrate how collaboration between manufacturers, nonprofit organizations, federal agencies, and local communities can help protect and enhance the places where off-road enthusiasts ride, explore, and recreate. About the Foundation for America’s Public Lands The Foundation for America’s Public Lands is the official charitable partner of the Bureau of Land Management. The organization works to build partnerships, generate private support, and connect more people and communities to America’s public lands and waters. Learn more at americaslands.org. Rugged Radios also equipped the new handheld with a massive 3600mAh USB-C rechargeable battery—nearly double the capacity of the standard GMR5—allowing for significantly extended runtime during long days on the trail or multi-day adventures. The GMR5-X also introduces Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to pair compatible Rugged Radios accessories including the BT2, RW-H52, and RW-H32. This added flexibility makes communication easier and more convenient whether you’re driving a UTV, navigating from the passenger seat, or working around camp. Beyond its core communication capabilities, the GMR5-X is loaded with features designed for adventure. The radio includes 22 GMRS channels, 8 GMRS repeater channels for expanded coverage, NOAA weather channels, weather alerts, noise cancellation, VOX hands-free operation, dual-channel monitoring with A/B channel switching, and a built-in FM radio. Users can also monitor VHF and UHF frequencies in listen-only mode, adding another layer of situational awareness while off-road or in remote areas. The removable antenna allows users to upgrade for improved performance, while the Rugged 2-pin accessory port provides compatibility with Rugged Radios’ extensive lineup of headsets, microphones, and communication accessories. A backlit display ensures easy viewing in bright sunlight or nighttime conditions, and the included swivel belt clip keeps the radio secure and accessible. 2027 Kawasaki Teryx KRX TR Brings 64-Inch Trail Capability to the KRX Platform
Kawasaki has expanded its Teryx KRX lineup for 2027 with the introduction of two new trail-focused models: the TERYX KRX 1000 TR and TERYX KRX4 1000 TR. Designed specifically for riders who frequent tight, wooded trail systems, the new TR models feature a narrower 63.8-inch width while retaining the rugged capability that has made the KRX platform popular among recreational and adventure riders. 2027 Kawasaki Teryx KRX TR Built for 64-Inch Trails The biggest change for the new TR models is their reduced width. Compared to the standard KRX models, which measure 68.1 inches wide, the TR versions are nearly 4.5 inches narrower, making them better suited for navigating dense forests and trail systems with 64-inch width restrictions. Despite the narrower footprint, Kawasaki engineers revised suspension arm geometry to maintain the same impressive ground clearance as the standard models. Centrifugal Clutch Both models retain long-travel suspension with 17 inches of front wheel travel and 18 inches in the rear, along with 31-inch Maxxis Carnivore tires mounted on 15-inch aluminum wheels. Power comes from Kawasaki’s proven 999cc parallel-twin engine paired with a CVT transmission and centrifugal clutch, delivering strong low-end torque and excellent engine braking on steep descents. Showa 2.5-inch piggyback shocks Comfort-Tuned Suspension While the TR models utilize the same Showa 2.5-inch piggyback shocks found on the standard KRX lineup, Kawasaki revised the suspension calibration to better suit trail riding. Softer damping characteristics improve small-bump compliance and reduce driver fatigue during long days on wooded trails. The updated tuning also enhances ground-following capability, helping maintain traction and control in technical terrain. 2027 Kawasaki Teryx KRX Refined for Tight Terrain Kawasaki shortened both the front A-arms and rear control arms to achieve the narrower stance while maintaining the vehicle’s stable handling characteristics. Bodywork was also redesigned, including revised front body panels and slimmer rear fender flares, ensuring the TR models retain the aggressive styling that defines the KRX family. Exclusive TR badging further distinguishes these trail-focused models from the rest of the lineup. Returning Models for 2027 The new TR models join a comprehensive 2027 KRX lineup that includes: TERYX KRX 1000 TERYX KRX4 1000 TERYX KRX 1000 eS TERYX KRX4 1000 eS TERYX KRX 1000 Blackout Edition TERYX KRX4 1000 Blackout Edition TERYX KRX 1000 Rock Edition The eS models continue to feature Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension (KECS) with FOX Live Valve Internal Bypass shocks, while the Blackout Editions come loaded with premium accessories including Hifonics audio systems, WARN winches, K-Glow LED lighting packages, and premium roofs. 2027 Kawasaki Teryx KRX Pricing Model MSRP TERYX KRX 1000 TR $21,199 TERYX KRX4 1000 TR $24,199 TERYX KRX 1000 $22,199 TERYX KRX4 1000 $25,199 TERYX KRX 1000 eS $24,799 TERYX KRX4 1000 eS $26,999 TERYX KRX 1000 Blackout Edition $26,399 TERYX KRX4 1000 Blackout Edition $29,499 All models are listed as available now. First Take The addition of the TR models gives Kawasaki a purpose-built option for riders who spend more time in forests and trail systems than in open desert terrain. By narrowing the chassis without sacrificing suspension travel, ground clearance, or the proven 999cc powertrain, Kawasaki has created a pair of machines that should appeal to riders in regions where 64-inch trail restrictions are common. The TR models effectively bridge the gap between full-size sport UTV capability and trail-friendly maneuverability. 2027 Kawasaki TERYX KRX 1000 TR
For 2027, two new purpose-built additions expand the TERYX KRX® 1000 lineup’s capabilities for riding in wooded terrain. Introducing the TERYX KRX® 1000 TR and TERYX® KRX4 1000 TR side x sides— designed to deliver comfort and confidence for riders exploring tight 64-inch forest trails. Compared to the standard TERYX KRX 1000 and TERYX KRX4 1000 models, the TR versions feature a narrower overall width, making them ideal for dense wooded areas. The parallel-twin engine, with strong low- end torque, works with the CVT and centrifugal clutch to provide smooth, controlled power delivery at lower speeds, along with dependable engine braking on descents. At the same time, the roomy cabin and adjustable ergonomics found in the standard models ensure a high level of comfort, even on narrow trails. Whether heading out solo for a focused ride or enjoying the outdoors with family and friends, the TERYX KRX 1000 TR and TERYX KRX4 1000 TR make it easy to confidently navigate tight wooded trails and fully experience the natural surroundings. ANTIGO OFF-ROAD NATIONALS PROVIDE CLOSE RACING
Championship Off-road’s Antigo Off-road Nationals delivered tight racing on a fast, slick track, and the course was run backwards for the 2026 season’s third and fourth rounds. If that weren’t enough to spice things up, officials also through in a Mandatory pass through the Joker Lane. Fresh off of a Pro SxS sweep at Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway, the points leader Jeb Bootle carried his momentum into Antigo. He took control of Saturday’s Pro SxS main on the second lap and set sail. Nathan Wolff and Chase Kempf battled over second most of the race, with Wolff finding late-race speed to secure second. Kempf scored his first podium on 2026 with third. In Saturday’s Pro Stock main, David Gay showed the speed he had in the first Missouri round but was denied the win, and he made up for it by controlling the race from greens to checkers. Jeb Bootle took second early and kept Gay honest in later laps for his first Pro Stock podium of the season. Filling in for the recovering CJ Greaves, Robert Loire wheeled the #33 RZR to the last podium step and a Polaris Pro Stock podium. Pro-Am NA points leader Code St. Peter brushed up for Antigo with a round of the Texas Outlaw series, where he broke Chase Carr’s Eagle Canyon Raceway lap-time record. Code started eighth in a field of 22 Pro-Ams and was in the lead by the third lap. Round two winner Carson Hill also came from deep in the pack to take over second and keep his title hopes alive. Hudson Houle raced to third and scored his second podium of the season. SUNDAY PRO SXS CHAOS Kolton Krajicek led the Sunday Pro SxS main for 10 laps but had a tire going down, allowing Jeb Bottle and Nathan Wolff to close. Kolton got crossed up over a jump as Bootle made a big-air pass attempt. Bootle landed on Krajicek’s front tire and forced the early leader out, while Jeb’s car was also damaged. Wolff took over but a mechanical slowed him on the last lap, and Collin Truett scored his first Pro SxS victory in Champ. Robert Loire put the #33 Pro R on the podium ahead of Brody Sands. Jeb Bootle regrouped from the Pro SxS collision to secure the first Pro Stock win of his Champ career. Jake Kosmecki advanced through the field to snatch second away from Robert Loire on the last lap, and Loire rounded out the podium. Code St. Peter dominated Sunday’s Pro-Am NA main for the weekend sweep. With the field compressed at the mid-race restart, Bryce Powers successfully held off a hard-charging Hudson Houle, who had to settle for third. Can-Am Defender HD10 vs. HD11: What’s New and Is the Upgrade Worth It?
For years, the Can-Am Defender HD10 has been one of the most capable utility side-by-sides on the market. Known for its durability, towing capability, and comfortable ride, the HD10 became a favorite among ranchers, hunters, property owners, and recreational users alike. For 2026, however, Can-Am has introduced the most significant update in Defender history with the all-new Defender HD11. While the HD11 may appear similar at first glance, nearly every aspect of the vehicle has been redesigned. From a new engine and transmission to a completely reworked chassis, interior, suspension, and technology package, the HD11 represents a major leap forward for the Defender platform. The question for many owners is whether the changes justify upgrading from the proven HD10. Engine and Performance The biggest change comes under the hood. The Defender HD10 utilizes a 976cc Rotax V-twin engine producing 82 horsepower and 69 lb-ft of torque. It has earned a reputation for delivering strong low-end power and dependable performance in work and recreational environments. The new Defender HD11 replaces that V-twin with a work-focused 999cc Rotax inline three-cylinder engine producing 95 horsepower and 70 lb-ft of torque. Horsepower increases by 13 while torque remains nearly unchanged. The result is stronger acceleration, smoother operation, and improved power delivery throughout the RPM range. One advantage of the triple-cylinder design is refinement. The HD11 runs noticeably smoother and quieter than the outgoing HD10 while providing improved throttle response and drivability. New Transmission and Clutching The HD11 receives a completely redesigned drivetrain featuring Can-Am’s pDrive primary clutch and an updated Quick Response System CVT. Drivers can select Work, Normal, and Sport drive modes depending on conditions. The new system improves low-speed crawling, reduces belt wear, and delivers smoother engagement compared to the previous HD10 setup. For users who spend time towing, maneuvering trailers, or navigating technical terrain, the drivetrain improvements may be one of the most noticeable upgrades. Redesigned Chassis and Suspension While the HD10’s chassis served owners well for many years, the HD11 benefits from a ground-up redesign. Can-Am focused heavily on reducing noise, vibration, and harshness while improving ride quality and occupant comfort. The new suspension tuning provides a more controlled ride both on rough trails and around the job site. The cab structure has also been redesigned to improve visibility, ergonomics, and ease of use. Owners moving from an HD10 to an HD11 will immediately notice that the new machine feels more refined and automotive-like. Interior and Technology This is perhaps where the HD11 separates itself most from its predecessor. The HD10 offered a functional and durable interior, but the HD11 introduces a much more modern cockpit with upgraded controls, additional storage, improved seating, and available technology features that were previously unavailable on the Defender platform. In addition, the cab and doors for the Limited model on the HD11 are sealed better than the HD10, which translates to less dust inside! Available features include: 10.25-inch touchscreen display Advanced vehicle controls Integrated camera systems Enhanced infotainment Improved HVAC systems on cab models Better sound insulation Improved ergonomics throughout the cabin Better sealed cab Premium trims such as the Limited and Lone Star models benefit the most from these upgrades. Capability Comparison One area where the HD10 already excelled was utility capability. Fortunately, Can-Am didn’t sacrifice any of that while redesigning the vehicle. Specification Defender HD10 Defender HD11 Engine 976cc Rotax V-Twin 999cc Rotax Inline Triple Horsepower 82 HP 95 HP Torque 69 lb-ft 70 lb-ft Fuel Capacity 10.6 gal 11.9 gal Towing Capacity 2,500 lbs 2,500 lbs Payload Capacity Up to 1,500 lbs Up to 1,500 lbs Transmission CVT New QRS CVT with pDrive Available Touchscreen No Yes Available Cameras No Yes Ride Quality Very Good Improved Interior Comfort Good Improved Final Thoughts The Defender HD10 helped establish Can-Am as a leader in the utility side-by-side market. Rather than simply adding more horsepower, Can-Am used the HD11 program as an opportunity to reimagine the entire platform. The result is a machine that retains the durability and capability Defender owners expect while delivering a level of comfort, refinement, and technology previously unseen in the utility UTV segment. For buyers considering a new Defender, the HD11 is unquestionably the most advanced Defender ever built. For existing HD10 owners, the upgrade may not be essential—but once you spend time behind the wheel of the new HD11, it becomes clear just how much progress Can-Am has made. Why the New Federal Lands Executive Order Matters to OHV Access
For decades, access to America’s public lands has been one of the most important issues facing the off-road community. Whether exploring remote destinations on the Arizona Strip, riding the Arizona Peace Trail, tackling trails in the San Rafael Swell, or venturing into Grand Staircase-Escalante, OHV enthusiasts depend on continued access to federal lands managed by agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. Forest Service. On May 29, 2026, President Donald Trump signed an executive order titled “Removing Unnecessary and Counterproductive Restrictions on Access to Federal Lands.” While the order does not immediately reopen trails or reverse existing closures, it could significantly influence how federal agencies manage public lands and OHV access in the future. What Changed? The executive order rescinds Executive Orders 11644 and 11989, two directives that have guided federal off-road vehicle management since the 1970s. These orders established criteria for designating areas where off-road vehicles could operate and directed federal agencies to close areas whenever officials determined OHV use was causing significant environmental impacts. (National Archives) According to the White House, modern environmental laws and land-management regulations already provide agencies with the tools necessary to protect public lands, making the older executive orders unnecessary and potentially restrictive. The administration argues that removing these directives will help restore balanced management of federal lands and ensure all users receive equal consideration. (The White House) Why This Matters to OHV Access The executive order is important because many of the travel management decisions affecting OHV recreation today can trace their roots back to policies established under those earlier executive orders. Over the years, many riders have expressed concerns that federal land managers increasingly focused on limiting access rather than managing recreation through a balanced multiple-use approach. Supporters of the new order believe removing the old directives could help federal agencies place greater emphasis on maintaining access while still protecting natural resources. (BlueRibbon Coalition) For off-roaders, this could eventually influence: Future BLM travel management plans Forest Service route designation processes Trail closure decisions OHV recreation opportunities on federal lands Access for organized rides and events Long-term public land management policies What the Order Does Not Do Despite the headlines, the executive order does not automatically reopen closed trails, eliminate environmental protections, or instantly change travel plans currently in place. Existing closures, route designations, wilderness areas, national parks, and other land-use restrictions remain in effect. Any changes to specific trail systems would still require agency action, public involvement, environmental review, and formal planning processes. (The White House) For riders planning trips this season, the rules on the ground remain unchanged. A Shift Toward Multiple Use The order is part of a broader effort by the administration to emphasize the multiple-use mission of federal lands. Recent actions have included rescinding the BLM’s Conservation and Landscape Health Rule, often referred to as the Public Lands Rule, which critics argued elevated conservation above other public land uses. Federal officials stated that the rescission was intended to restore a balance between recreation, energy development, grazing, conservation, and other authorized uses of public lands. (Federal Register) For many in the off-road community, multiple use has long been a guiding principle of public land management. The concept recognizes that public lands should serve a variety of purposes, including recreation, conservation, livestock grazing, energy production, hunting, fishing, and tourism. Why Riders Should Pay Attention Regardless of political viewpoints, one thing is clear: federal land policies have a direct impact on where we ride. Some of the most iconic UTV destinations in the West—including the Arizona Peace Trail, Sand Hollow, Grand Staircase-Escalante, the San Rafael Swell, Moab, and the Arizona Strip—either consist of or connect to federal lands managed under policies that can change over time. The executive order signals a potential shift in how federal agencies approach access and recreation. Whether that ultimately results in more open routes, fewer closures, or different planning priorities remains to be seen. Those decisions will continue to be made through local land-management plans and public comment processes. The Bottom Line The new executive order will not immediately change where OHV enthusiasts can ride, but it represents one of the most significant federal public-land access policy changes in years. By rescinding decades-old directives governing off-road vehicle management, the administration has signaled its intent to reduce regulatory barriers and place greater emphasis on access and multiple-use management. For the off-road community, the order is important because it could shape future decisions affecting trail access, route designations, and recreation opportunities across millions of acres of public land. As federal agencies begin implementing the new policy direction, riders should remain engaged in local planning efforts and continue advocating for responsible access to the public lands that make our sport possible. Supporting Organizations That Protect OHV Access One of the most effective ways riders can help preserve access to public lands is by supporting organizations that actively advocate for responsible recreation. The BlueRibbon Coalition has been at the forefront of protecting access for off-highway vehicles, four-wheel drives, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and other recreational users for more than three decades. The organization works directly with federal and state agencies, participates in travel management planning efforts, challenges closures when necessary, and helps ensure the voices of recreationists are heard during public land decision-making processes. While policy changes at the national level can influence the future of public land access, long-term success often depends on continued involvement at the local level. By becoming a member, participating in public comment periods, or supporting advocacy efforts, riders can help protect access to the trails, roads, and backcountry destinations that make off-road recreation possible. PCI Race Radios Introduces AdvenShare App
[Cypress, CA – June 5, 2026] — AdvenShare, a new outdoor-focused mobile application, is redefining how adventurers connect, communicate, and share experiences in real time. Built for off-road enthusiasts, overlanders, and outdoor explorers, the app combines location sharing, push-to-talk communication, and route tracking into a unified platform designed for safety and collaboration in remote environments. Developed in partnership with Jeremy Ealand, AdvenShare addresses a critical gap in outdoor recreation: reliable, team-based Radio over IP communication and visibility when traditional coverage is limited or unavailable. “Advancement in technology is changing the way we work and play. AdvenShare is leveraging these advancement in both software and hardware to improve access, communication, safety and immersive content creation in off-road racing and recreational outdoor activities.” Says Ealand, “Unlike other “point solutions” in the market, AdvenShare by PCI includes a suite or mobile and web solutions that not only enable individuals recreating off-road but also provides logistics and situational awareness for event Managment and group activities.” Scott Steinberger, President of PCI Race Radios added, “Having raced in Baja for decades, I’ve seen firsthand how critical communication is when you’re miles from civilization. My family helped pioneer off-road race communications through the Weatherman Relay, and today technologies like Starlink are transforming what’s possible in remote environments. AdvenShare by PCI represents the next evolution of that legacy, combining modern connectivity, real-time communication, and location awareness into a single platform for today’s adventurers.” Radio over IP (RoIP) is a technology that enables the transmission of radio communications (typically voice and data from two-way radios) over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the public internet, private LANs, WANs, or cellular data networks. AdvenShare enables users to maintain real-time awareness of their group through integrated team location sharing, allowing participants to stay coordinated across trails, deserts, and backcountry terrain. This functionality enhances both safety and efficiency for group travel. The platform also features push-to-talk communication, giving users a radio-style experience directly from their mobile devices. This capability provides a familiar and practical solution for off-road teams and event participants who require instant voice communication without complex hardware setups. PCI Intercoms have been shipping with BTE for years and will work seamlessly with Starlink and Advenshare. Built for Adventure Documentation and Sharing Beyond communication, AdvenShare includes route recording tools that allow users to capture and document their journeys. These routes can then be shared with friends, family, or broader communities via social platforms, turning every trip into a shareable story. This combination of navigation, communication, and storytelling positions AdvenShare as more than just a utility—it becomes a digital companion for outdoor experiences. Privacy-Focused, User-Centric Design In an era of increasing data concerns, AdvenShare emphasizes user privacy. According to app store disclosures, the platform does not collect user data, reinforcing trust among users operating in sensitive or remote environments. The app is optimized for modern devices, requiring iOS 16.6 or later, and continues to evolve with updates that improve performance and expand functionality, including support for additional vehicle types. Meeting the Needs of a Growing Outdoor Market As overlanding, off-road racing, and remote travel continue to grow in popularity, the demand for integrated digital tools is increasing. AdvenShare enters the market as a purpose-built solution tailored specifically for these environments—where traditional navigation apps fall short. By combining real-time communication, live tracking, and adventure sharing, AdvenShare is positioned to become a central platform for outdoor communities seeking both safety and connectivity. Availability/Pricing ( Coming Soon) AdvenShare is available now as a free download on iOS devices. CHUPACABRA OFF-ROAD CONQUERS THE 2026 NORRA 1000 ON OBOR TRICERA TIRES
The 2026 NORRA Mexican 1000 is known for breaking machines, pushing racers beyond their limits, and exposing every weakness a vehicle can have. Endless rocks, deep sand, high-speed desert washes, and punishing heat have humbled some of the most experienced racers in off-road history. For Chupacabra Off-Road’s first-ever NORRA 1000 campaign, the mission was simple: survive Baja, finish strong, and experience one of the most legendary off-road races in the world. What unfolded was something far bigger. Piloting their newly built Polaris RZR Pro R, the Chupacabra Off-Road team tackled over 1,100 brutal Baja miles; they experienced just one minor tire issue — a single flat tire late in the race near San Ignacio. Outside of that isolated incident, the OBOR 35x10R15 Tricera tires delivered flawless performance across the punishing terrain of the 2026 NORRA 1000. No sidewall failures. No major punctures. No race-ending tire problems. For a first-time NORRA effort, the Chupacabra Off-Road team proved both driver skill and tire durability under some of the harshest off-road racing conditions in the world. “We had one flat during the entire event, but beyond that the tires were incredible,” said the team. “The Tricera’s gave us confidence every day to keep pushing through Baja.” The NORRA 1000 is unlike traditional desert racing. Competitors battle through every type of terrain imaginable — from sharp volcanic rock sections and technical mountain passes to endless high-speed desert roads where temperatures and fatigue punish both drivers and equipment. While many teams faced setbacks throughout the week, the Tricera-equipped Pro R continued charging forward day after day. The result? • 6th Place – Pro SxS Class • 8th Fastest UTV out of 67 competitors • 40th Overall Finish • Over 1,100 miles completed on a single set of OBOR Tricera tires What stood out most to the team was the tire’s versatility across Baja’s constantly changing terrain. “Some sections felt like a video game,” the team explained. “One moment you’re battling high-horsepower pre-runners in wide-open desert, and the next you’re crawling through technical rock sections where precision matters most. The Tricera’s handled all of it without hesitation.” Originally engineered for aggressive desert racing and high-performance UTV applications, the OBOR Tricera has rapidly earned a reputation for delivering predictable handling, durability, and confidence at speed. The NORRA 1000 now adds another major milestone to the tire’s growing legacy. “This race proved exactly what the Tricera was built for,” said OBOR Tires U.S. Marketing Manager Bruce Nyland. “Baja is one of the harshest environments in off-road racing, and for Chupacabra Off-Road to complete their first NORRA 1000 with zero tire issues across 1,100+ miles says everything about the durability and performance of the Tricera platform.” The adventure doesn’t stop at the finish line. Chupacabra Off-Road is now releasing a full 9-part YouTube video series documenting the RZR build, testing process, and complete NORRA 1000 journey, along with additional Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and livestream content showcasing the race experience and product performance throughout Baja. Fans can follow the entire series and future race content on the Chupacabra Off-Road YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ChupacabraOffroad As the dust settles in Baja, one thing is clear: The OBOR Tricera didn’t just survive the NORRA 1000. It conquered it. For more information about OBOR Tires and the Tricera lineup, visit OBOR Tires. About OBOR Tires OBOR Tires is a high-performance off-road tire brand focused on delivering innovative ATV and UTV tire solutions for racers, enthusiasts, and adventure riders worldwide. Backed by advanced engineering and real-world testing across desert racing, rock crawling, GNCC competition, and recreational terrain, OBOR Tires continues to push the limits of off-road performance and durability. Can-Am Defender HD11 Mid-Travel Suspension from HCR Racing
HCR Racing has unveiled a new Mid-Travel Suspension Kit for the all-new Can-Am Defender HD11, giving owners a serious upgrade in suspension performance, stability, and trail capability while maintaining the Defender’s utility-focused DNA. Designed for riders who want to push the Defender harder in rough terrain, the kit delivers a wider stance, increased capability, and a more aggressive appearance without compromising reliability or everyday usability. Can-Am Defender HD11 Mid-Travel Suspension The timing of the release is significant because the 2026 Can-Am Defender HD11 itself is an all-new platform. Can-Am completely redesigned the Defender for 2026 with a new chassis, updated suspension geometry, refined interior, quieter cab, and a more capable HD11 powerplant producing 95 horsepower and 70 lb-ft of torque. The new-generation Defender was engineered to better blend work and recreation, making it an ideal platform for aftermarket suspension upgrades and larger tire packages. HCR’s Mid-Travel kit builds on that new foundation by widening the Defender HD11 approximately 8 inches overall, dramatically improving stability on rocky trails, desert terrain, and off-camber obstacles. The wider footprint helps the Defender feel more planted at speed while increasing driver confidence in technical terrain. The kit also clears up to 35-inch tires, giving the machine significantly more ground clearance and a much more aggressive stance. Unlike traditional long-travel systems that rely on shock brackets or longer shocks, HCR’s Mid-Travel design retains factory shock geometry and factory-length shocks. According to HCR, this allows the suspension to increase width and capability while keeping axle angles closer to stock for improved reliability and reduced stress on drivetrain components. The kit features high-clearance front and rear A-arms built from HCR’s proprietary alloy that the company says is 30% stronger than chromoly steel. Premium billet aluminum tie rods and upgraded Rhino 2.0 axles are also included to handle the increased width and tougher terrain demands. HCR says the system is a 100% bolt-on installation with no cutting or drilling required. For owners looking to maximize the performance of the HCR Mid-Travel setup, Suspension Direct Inc. (SDi) recently introduced its Terrain Master 2.1 shocks specifically for the new Defender HD11 platform. The shocks are designed as a direct bolt-on upgrade and feature billet aluminum construction, piggyback reservoirs, large-bore compression adjusters, hardened chrome-coated shafts, and fully rebuildable internals. SDi says the Terrain Master 2.1 shocks improve small bump compliance, bottoming resistance, and overall ride stability in rough terrain. The SDi Terrain Master 2.1 shocks pair particularly well with HCR’s Mid-Travel suspension because the HCR system is engineered to retain factory shock lengths and mounting locations. That allows owners to install premium aftermarket shocks without requiring major chassis modifications or custom shock geometry. HCR even noted on social media that the HD11 Mid-Travel kit can be run with stock shocks, SDi Terrain Master shocks, or SDi Active E-CLIK Pro electronic suspension systems depending on the owner’s intended use and performance goals. Together, the HCR Mid-Travel suspension and SDi Terrain Master 2.1 shocks transform the new Defender HD11 into a far more capable trail and adventure machine while still retaining the utility, towing capability, and comfort that Defender owners rely on. Whether tackling rocky climbs, desert washouts, overland routes, or long backcountry adventures, the upgraded setup gives the Defender significantly more confidence and capability in demanding terrain. For more information, visit HCR Racing Mid-Travel Suspension Kit for the Can-Am Defender HD11.
