Pruett and Hagan Look to Continue Winning Ways at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals
Tony Stewart Racing hits the halfway mark of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season with this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park (SMP). Leah Pruett and her Dodge//SRT Top Fuel team will be looking for their second win of the season while Matt Hagan and the Dodge//SRT Hellcat Funny Car team are looking for a second consecutive win, third of their 2026 season. Pruett is coming off a busy weekend at Bristol Dragway where she picked up her 13th victory on Friday evening when she defeated points leader Shawn Langdon in the postponed NHRA New England Nationals final. It was her first win since returning to the seat after becoming a mother. “Winning Epping in Bristol, for me personally was probably the most profound win. Bigger than my first one, bigger than U.S. Nationals in Factory Stock, a double up in Dallas with Hagen, which was at the top of my all-time wins. This one just really stands out because of how we got there,” Pruett said. “From a team perspective, my evolution as a driver coming back into the seat, the things that I struggled with, the things that I focused hard on to maintain and capture and improve on.” Pruett went on to secure the Thunder Valley Nationals No. 1 qualifying position, the 17th of her career, second of the season before having a second-round exit during Sunday’s eliminations. The Dodge Top Fuel team continues to impress reaching the midway point of the season, not having conceded a first-round loss. “Me specifically in the car this year, having to re-calibrate myself – my emotions, my intensity, my focus. We came up with a plan. We had a crew chief-driver full conversation intervention that was data-backed. You can’t have perfection without progress,” said Pruett “I’ve been working on my reaction times. I’ve been working at getting them in the low .070s, coming into this weekend in Norwalk, hopefully I’ll live in the .060s. That’s been the systematic strategic goal. We’re not going to win a championship .072-ing them to death. That’s not going to work. My team is giving me the best race car, and I’ve got to get those lights down so that I can give them my best.” The last time Pruett raced at SMP was in 2023 when she dominated the weekend as the Top Fuel No. 1 qualifier and went on to win the event for her 11th career victory defeating Kyle Wurtzel, Mike Salinas, Austin Prock and Justin Ashley along the way. Pruett will start competition this weekend lined up against a familiar foe in qualifying, her husband, Tony Stewart. “When we go to Norwalk, Tony and I will be against each other in Q1 as we have been for a number of races,” Pruett said. “Trust me, fans, we’re not trying to not run each other. We’re trying to run each other just later on in the day on Sundays.” Pruett’s Funny Car teammate Matt Hagan is also coming of a victorious weekend. The four-time world champion dominated the Thunder Valley Nationals entering race day as the No. 1 qualifier. He defeated Jon Capps, earned a bye run into the semi-finals where he took down two-time and reigning world champion Austin Prock before denying Daniel Wilkerson his first career Funny Car victory. “The win in Bristol had so much excitement, especially with the JHG crew being there and then attending their open house last Friday near Nashville. It was great to get to celebrate with everyone and it really made it come full circle,” Hagan said. “We’re definitely carrying momentum into Norwalk, which seems to be another hot tricky racetrack sometimes, but you know one thing about SMP and (track owner) Bill Bader is they put on an awesome event. They’ll fill the stands and that’s why we have to make sure we put on a great show.” Hagan’s win at Bristol Dragway extended to 14 the number of consecutive seasons in which he has won multiple events in the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. He first hoisted the NHRA 75th Anniversary Diamond Wally alongside team owner Tony Stewart earlier this year at the Winternationals. The 57-time event winner has had only one first-round exit so far this season and his No.1 qualifying position also extended his streak of seasons with at least one start from the top spot to 14. “The momentum and success so far this year has been great,” said Hagan who jumped from fourth to second in the Funny Car points standings with his last win. “We’ve been in some really difficult conditions and I think that’s why you’ve seen different winners throughout the season, there’s not just been somebody that’s just dominating. Our team has done a really impressive job of adapting. Hopefully that reigns true this weekend in Ohio too.” Off the dragstrip, Hagan will be participating in the intense and entertaining ice cream eating contest that has become synonymous with SMP and the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals. “I’ve been training. My son has been helping me, feeding me ice cream between push-ups and sit-ups, between sets on the punching bags. We’ve been watching past contests and taking notes. It’s going to be a big ordeal,” Hagan said. “Competition is competition. I don’t care if we’re eating ice cream, racing lawn mowers or Fuel Funny Cars, winning is winning. Have to get those bragging rights. Jianna [Evaristo] (Pro Stock Motorcycle) is the reigning three-time champ, we’ve got to take her down. Time for a regime change. I think I got this. I mean a pint of ice cream is a handful to me so let’s go!” Competition at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park begins with four rounds of qualifying Friday at 5 and 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at Noon and 2:30 p.m. Eliminations are slated for Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Television coverage of the event will be on Sunday with a qualifying show at noon ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). Eliminations will air Sunday at 5:30 p.m. ET on FOX. This story was originally published on June 25, 2026. Top Fuel’s Clay Millican Hoping Good Vibes at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals Leads to Win
Clay Millican has a lot of stops he enjoys on the NHRA Mission Drag Series tour, including the most recent event in Bristol. This weekend’s fan-favorite 20th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park also qualifies as one, leaving the Top Fuel veteran equal parts hopeful and excited heading to the halfway point of NHRA’s 75th anniversary season in 2026. Millican and his Rick Ware Racing team haven’t hit their stride yet this year in the team’s 12,000-horsepower Summit Racing Equipment dragster, but a breakout performance in Norwalk would be welcomed by all. Millican is confident it’s coming and doing so at a standout facility that has treated him well over the years would be a massive boost heading into a critical point of the 2026 campaign. “We got close to getting that ice cream scoop (trophy) last year,” said Millican, who fell in the final round in Norwalk to Justin Ashley last year. “I definitely want to get it this year and that Diamond Wally (for NHRA’s 75th anniversary season). “The Bader family is amazing. I grew up in a family business and going there reminds me of that. It makes it feel like home.” Last year, Ashley (Top Fuel), Austin Prock (Funny Car), Cory Reed (Pro Stock) and John Hall (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all won the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals. This year’s race will again be broadcast on FOX, with qualifying and the GETTRX Pro Stock NHRA All-Star Callout coverage on FS1 and eliminations on FOX at 5:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 28. It is the 10th of 20 races during the 2026 season and this weekend’s event also features the GETTRX Pro Stock All-Star Callout bonus race and the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle. For Millican, the weekend represents trying to get on track and putting together consistent runs as the Countdown to the Championship playoffs get closer. Transitioning to a canopy car has meant some bumps in the road through the first nine races, as the veteran is currently 10th in points. But they’ve made strides in recent weeks, winning rounds in Maryland and Epping after a semifinal appearance in Valdosta. Bristol didn’t go as planned, but Millican believes the team is on the verge of breaking through in a big way. It will take a big effort to win in Norwalk against a loaded Top Fuel lineup that includes points leader Shawn Langdon, who has advanced to the final round at eight of the past nine races, reigning world champ Doug Kalitta, racing legend Tony Stewart, Bristol winner Antron Brown, Epping winner Leah Pruett, Ashley and Josh Hart. Millican, though, remains confident his team can make some noise at America’s Racetrack, which would bode well for him for multiple reasons. “I do feel we are getting closer to learning what these canopy cars like,” said Millican, who has eight career NHRA victories. “None of our tuners have ever run one before this year and it does change the way we run our car. “(But) it is the time of year to start getting your ducks in a row and making moves towards consistency.” Funny Car’s Prock will look for back-to-back Norwalk wins, this time with Tasca Racing. Other marquee names in the class include points leader Ron Capps, Matt Hagan, who won in Bristol, J.R. Todd, Epping winner Jack Beckman, class newcomer Jordan Vandergriff, Alexis DeJoria and Chad Green, who has two wins in 2026. Matt Hartford won in Bristol and is also the reigning winner in the GETTRX Pro Stock All-Star Callout. He’ll look to repeat and sweep the weekend against a Callout field of Greg Anderson, who is the top seed and has the first pick, reigning world champ Dallas Glenn, Eric Latino, Greg Stanfield, Enders, Aaron Stanfield and Jeg Coughlin. Hall wants a repeat Pro Stock Motorcycle win in Norwalk against a talented field that includes points leader and reigning world champ Richard Gadson, Angie Smith, Gaige Herrera, Chase Van Sant, Steve Johnson, Jianna Evaristo and Ryan Oehler. Race fans also get to see action in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Series and Flexjet NHRA Factory Stock Showdown. Norwalk race fans can enjoy the special pre-race ceremonies that introduce each driver and includes the fan favorite SealMaster Track Walk and congratulate the winners at the winner’s circle celebration on Sunday. As always, fans get a pit pass to the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet. They can visit NHRA’s Manufacturers Midway, where sponsors and vendors create an exciting atmosphere. NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds at 5 and 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, June 26, and the final two rounds of qualifying on Saturday, June 27 at 12 and 2:30 p.m. Eliminations will begin at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 28. The GETTRX Pro Stock NHRA All-Star Callout starts Friday, June 26 at 3 p.m., where the drivers will make their first-round picks. The first round of the Callout is Saturday, June 27 at 11:30 a.m., followed by the semifinals at 1:15 p.m. and the finals at 4 p.m. Television coverage begins Sunday, June 28 and includes the GETTRX Pro Stock NHRA All-Star Callout on FS1 at 11 a.m., leading into qualifying coverage at 12 p.m. Elimination coverage kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on FOX. To purchase tickets to Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, fans can visit www.NHRA.com/tickets. Children 12 and under are free in general admission areas with the purchase of an adult ticket. The Last of our Lost Buckeye Skips Drag and Drive Photos! Our Final Gallery of Day Three On Track Action and Checkpoints!
Here’s our last gallery of lost photos from Day 3 of Buckeye Skip’s Drag and Drive, and we’ve got plenty more where that came from! Plus, if you missed the previous photos we’ve got a link to those below as well. This is our last gallery from the 2025 event and we’re looking forward to 2026! (Photos by Neal Sabo) When BANGshifter Neal Sabo said he was going to head down to Buckeye Skips 2025 Drag and Drive, to snap pictures and check out the cool stuff going on, we were like “Hell yeah!” He hit all three days, at Darana Dragway at Dragway 42, Quaker Dragway, and Kuhnle Motorsports Park and got all kinds of cool photos. He hit the checkpoints and the tracks and said it was an epic trip. The weather was pretty good, if not a bit cold at Kuhnle, but the racing was hot for sure. And then Neal got home, went through the photos, and sent me files on our dropbox. And that’s where yours truly dropped the ball. For some reason all these great photos never got posted and when we talked to Buckeye Skip himself about coming to cover the 2026 event, he asked what every happened to our 2025 coverage. Luckily Neal has no fear of throwing me under the bus when I deserve it, and I don’t have trouble taking responsibility, so we’re making up for it now! If you want to check out the photos, here is our first gallery from Day 1 and we’ll have more coming over the next several days as we’ll have a few galleries for each day of the event. Check them out, and get ready because Buckeye Skips 2026 drag and drive will be here before you know it. SCAG Racing Brings Special Military Tribute to Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals
SCAG Racing heads to Summit Motorsports Park for this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals carrying momentum, special patriotic paint schemes, and a strong history of success at one of the most anticipated events on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series schedule. All four SCAG Racing nitro entries will debut the team’s new “Simply the Brave” military themed wraps this weekend in Norwalk, the first of three consecutive events where the special patriotic designs will be featured, including Sonoma and Seattle. The special design celebrates America’s upcoming 250th birthday while highlighting SCAG Power Equipment’s limited edition “Simply the Brave” series of lawn mower models. For every Patriot 250 model military edition mower sold, SCAG will donate $250 to support the Gary Sinise Foundation’s First Responders Outreach program and A Soldier’s Child Foundation. SCAG also proudly offers its ongoing “Simply the Brave” discount program, providing eligible military personnel, veterans, and first responders discounts of up to 15% on most mower models. Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Top Fuel team return to Norwalk as the defending event champion after earning the victory at Summit Motorsports Park in 2025. “Norwalk is a special race,” said Ashley. “It’s one of those you circle on the calendar at the beginning of the year in hopes of bringing home that iconic ice cream scooper. I’ve always had great respect for the Bader family both on and off the racetrack. Their high character and commitment to the fans is contagious. “Our approach for this weekend is simple.,” Ashley continued. “Beginning with the end in mind, the ultimate goal is to put this SCAG Power Equipment Top Fuel Dragster into the winner’s circle. The best way to get there is by racing the racetrack one day and one round at a time. The past is irrelevant. The future is out of our control. All of our attention is on the present. We have the best people, the best partners, and the best organization. Now we have to be ‘Simply the Best.’” Daniel Wilkerson enters the weekend with his SCAG Power Equipment Funny Car team with extra motivation at one of his sponsor’s marquee events. The Summit Racing Equipment-supported Funny Car driver spent Wednesday at Summit Racing Equipment’s headquarters meeting fans and participating in a car show before heading to the racetrack. Wilkerson also qualified for the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge after his runner-up finish at the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, which will be contested during Saturday’s qualifying sessions. “There is nothing like getting back to the racetrack after a good weekend off, and there’s no track I’m more excited to go to than Summit Motorsports Park for multiple reasons,” said Wilkerson. “Tim has a really good tune-up for that place. We always seem to run well in Norwalk, and I’ve made more runs there in a fuel car than probably anywhere else. “Summit has been a supporter of our family for a very long time, so it’s always fun to race at their house,” Wilkerson continued. “We also get to go to the mothership in Ohio for Summit and spend time with their employees. We get to be a part of a really cool car show, with our SCAG Mustang included. It should be a great weekend.” Dave Richards and the BlueBird Turf Funny Car team will look to continue making progress during the busy summer stretch while unveiling their own “Simply the Brave” design. “We’re proud to be part of the ‘Simply the Brave’ program and represent it on our Funny Car,” Richards said. “It’s a great way to recognize the military community while also bringing attention to a program that gives back. “Norwalk is always one of the best stops on tour because of the fans and the atmosphere, and we’re looking forward to putting together a strong weekend for everyone who supports SCAG Racing, especially our SCAG dealers.” Will Smith and the BlueBird Turf Top Fuel team head to Norwalk after continuing to gain valuable experience during their rookie campaign and are eager to capitalize on the momentum built throughout the season. “We’re excited to head to Norwalk and unveil our new ‘Simply the Brave’ livery on the Bluebird Turf Top Fuel Dragster,” said Smith. “It’s a special scheme that honors and supports our nation’s heroes, and we’re proud to represent that message on one of NHRA’s biggest stages. SCAG gives back to heroes by donating a portion of every sale of a military edition Patriot mower to the Gary Sinise First Responders Outreach Foundation and A Soldier’s Child Foundation. It’s an honor to represent a brand that recognizes the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes. “Norwalk is always a great event,” Smith continued. “We’ll have a lot of our dealers, customers, and guests with us throughout the weekend, along with our distributor of the race, Pace, which makes it even more meaningful. “As a team, we’ve been working extremely hard to improve our performance on track. We’ve seen progress in recent races, but we’re not satisfied and know there’s more out there for us. Everyone at SCAG Racing continues to put in the effort to make this program better each week, and we’re looking forward to putting together a strong weekend and giving our guests something to cheer about.” Nitro qualifying at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals begins Friday with qualifying sessions at 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. ET, followed by two more qualifying sessions Saturday at noon and 2:30 p.m. ET. Eliminations begin Sunday at 11:00 a.m. ET. Television coverage of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals will air Sunday with qualifying coverage from 12-2 p.m. ET on FS1 and elimination coverage from 5:30-9 p.m. ET on FOX. Right2Breathe® and Joe Morrison Return to Norwalk With Continued Message of Health and Awareness
NHRA Nitro Driver Joe Morrison’s Right2Breathe® Project has once again teamed up with the highly acclaimed Cleveland Clinic as well as the NDD Medical, BluZone Health and will be located adjacent to the Kroger Health display, to present the “Put Your Lungs on the Dyno” Lung Health Screening Project at the 2026 Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals. The Funny Car driver from Flemington, New Jersey and Right2Breathe, a New Jersey based 501(c)(3) non-profit, in collaboration with a team of healthcare professionals and support from Sanofi Pharmaceutical, will offer onsite lung health screenings and education to the estimated 70,000+ fans and racers expected to enjoy the NHRA national event. In 2025 Morrison took to the track and midway to deliver the important message that early detection for lung health is more important than ever now. This will be Morrison’s second race of the season driving the ever-competitive Herzhauser owned Funny Car.“Now more than ever lung health has been in the news and the Right2Breathe® mission has never been more important,” said Morrison. “We recently lost NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Kyle Busch to a lung related illness that could have been treated. My dad was able to live well and enjoy his life despite having very severe COPD and his experience was critical to the founding of Right2Breathe. Our mission with Right2Breathe is to help others live better and live longer by getting diagnosed earlier than my dad.” The Right2Breathe® Project is a dynamic, grassroots initiative focused on Lung Health Education, Awareness, and Screening. This campaign is hosted at various public venues, including automotive and sporting events across the United States. The Norwalk screening event marks Right2Breathe’s return to the NHRA circuit after an appearance earlier this season in Charlotte. The Right2Breathe program will also be present at the historic U.S. Nationals Labor Day weekend in Indianapolis as well as multiple events in the NHRA Countdown later this season. Since 2016, the Right2Breathe Project has provided free lung screenings to thousands of dedicated NHRA Drag Racing fans at motorsports venues nationwide. Their team of medical professionals—including Respiratory Therapists, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Pulmonologists—offer screenings, answer questions, and provide valuable resources for racers, fans, and event partners. Morrison is thrilled that Cleveland Clinic will support the event once again by providing a team of experts in Norwalk. This marks the fourth consecutive year of their involvement, following the successful and impactful Right2Breathe event showcased at the 2023 Norwalk NHRA National Event. New this year will be the location adjacent to the Kroger Health footprint and the Allergy & Asthma Network joining the Cleveland Clinic. Kroger Health will have the Right2Breathe® Project next to their midway space to help bring more healthcare services and continue to educate the public about various ways to remain healthy in their lives. BluZone Health will have an exercise physiologist onsite. The quartet of health organizations and programs will provide a diverse and comprehensive educational experience for fans interested in learning more about lung health and treatment. A team of medical professionals from Cleveland Clinic are generously donating their time to demonstrate their dedication to the community they serve. They are offering free lung screenings and answering questions about common lung diseases, including COPD, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Lung Cancer, Asthma, and Long Haul COVID. Additionally, they are providing free resources for race fans, vendors, and competitors attending the event. On the track Morrison will be driving the Herzhauser owned Funny Car with marketing support from long-time sponsors PennGrade1 and Before & After Painting, who will be wrapping up the “Livin’ the Dream” two-race series in Norwalk as well as new sponsor CarTimeDover.com. Last year Morrison missed qualifying in a tough 21-car field. This will be Morrison’s second event of the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. During the inaugural Potomac Nationals Morrison qualified No. 16 before dropping a close first round race with No. 1 qualifier Jack Beckman. They Built a BANNED F1 Car From the 70’s! Well Kinda, And It’s Awesome! Who Wants To Build One Of These?
I know I’m not alone in saying that the Tyrrell P34 is one of the coolest looking F1 cars ever produced, not only because the lines are good on it, but also because it’s a freak show with 4 front wheels. And the idea behind it was genius. Little wheels and tires have less drag and that means the front could be lower and let all that good air go over the car, through the rear wing where it provided great downforce. And while they were a freak show looking car, they did well. It actually worked. Until F1 said no more. I’ve seen plenty of video of these cars, as have so many of you, but never have I thought about building a go kart version which makes me kind of disappointed in myself to be honest. Now that I see this cool go kart that the guys at Eastwood put together, I am jealous and want one for myself. Can you imagine the fun you could have if a group of you and your buddies were racing a fleet of them around your own track? The thought puts a smile on my face. Watch the video. Video Description: The Tyrrell P34 is one of the strangest race cars ever to compete in Formula One. Built in 1976, the six-wheeled machine wasn’t just a gimmick—it actually won races and proved that sometimes the craziest ideas are worth pursuing. So naturally, we decided to build one. In this first episode, we dive into the history of the legendary P34 before attempting to recreate the concept at go-kart scale. Starting with a pile of tubing and a questionable amount of confidence, we build the chassis from scratch, mount all six wheels, and begin tackling the biggest challenge of the project: figuring out how to make four front wheels steer without turning the whole thing into a shopping cart. Will Formula One’s weirdest idea work as a go-kart? We’re about to find out. The post They Built a BANNED F1 Car From the 70’s! Well Kinda, And It’s Awesome! Flat-12 Ferrari Magic in Monaco | John Surtees’ Favourite F1 Car Makes ALL the Right Noises. Pure Bliss.
There are going to be some of the most epic Ferrari’s in Formula 1 history at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, and this right here is one of them. The crew caught up with this car at the Monaco Historics race and man we couldn’t be happier that they did. Ferrari has been racing in F1 for 75 years now, and that mean’s they have seen some things and done some things. But while all these Ferraris are epic and cool, some definitely stand out from the rest. These cars were from a different era of racing and race car drivers. If you put a driver from 1964 in a 2024 F1 car they would probably express two things. Number one that nothing he ever imagined could compare to the performance just experienced, and two that he’d never driven a race car that was so “easy” to drive. Don’t take my words to mean that I think old drivers had more skill than new drivers, that’s not the point at all. I mean it physically, not as a matter of skill. You see, race cars of all kinds were horrible ill handling and limited cars back in the day. So drivers had to literally manhandled these cars to make them perform. That level of physical interaction isn’t the same 60 years later. So these cars will always hit a little different when you think about what it was like when they were the fastest things on four wheels. Video Description: At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard we’re celebrating Ferrari’s 75 years of F1 success in a big way. We’ll have our greatest selection of Ferrari F1 cars, including this absolute masterpiece. The Ferrari 1512 has one of the best sounding engines of all time. The 1964 world champion John Surtees called it his favourite car he’d ever raced. Ahead of its appearance at FOS 2026, we caught up with the car at the Monaco Historic. Where doesn this rank on your favourite Ferrari F1 cars? The post Flat-12 Ferrari Magic in Monaco | John Surtees’ Favourite F1 Car Makes ALL the Right Noises. Randy Pobst can wheel a race car, and on too many occasions to count we’ve seen him do it. But he also enjoys a quick and fast street car which means that upgrades are often in order. In this video series we’ll see his 1977 Pontiac Trans Am get some suspension love. But don’t think that this is some old original worn out machine that is getting the upgrades so they can show a huge improvement. No, this car has had a bunch of work done to it to get it into ship shape, and now it’s time for more. More grip, more control, more adjustability, and above all else, more fun.
